  3. Hey haven’t been here in a while but does anyone know if we’re getting more Pokemon or that was it on what leaked from the demo??

    • My understanding is that there is a tiny chance there are new Pokemon in the national dex. Weve only seen the regional dex. However that hasn’t happened since D/P/Pt. So please don’t hold your breath only to be disappointed later, we have likely seen all the new Pokemon.

  4. the livestream is in half an hour… is nobody looking forward to it? If i remember correctly, GameXplain had some info about the first 2 hours of the game that might indicate that we haven’t seen all… if that’s the case we might get some evidence today!

  5. I know a lot of us cant view the livestream direct but someone’s gotta be posting it on youtube, right? *hopeful face*

  6. Guys serebii updated saying that after seeing a pokemon, rotomdex updates you on the percentage of completion of dex… shouldn’t that let us know the number of pokemon in full Alolan dex?

    • Depends. I haven’t watched the stream, but it would depend on if the percent rounds up and the number of pokemon they have caught so far, and if it is out of the alola dex or the melemele dex.

      • Rounding direction is indeed crucial.
If I knew some people in the homebrew community I’d ask them what direction IEEE floating points round to by default on the 3DS.
Then again, they might just be using integer arithmetic, in which case the result will always be floored because of the way integer division works on a computer.

  7. 7 trials makes no sense. We know of 4 trials on Akala and 1 on MeleMele, so that would mean each island other than Akala only has 1 trial. Maybe they just thinned the trials out during the early part of the game and the story arc.

    • Actually, Sophocles was never pinned down so it’s possible he’s on Ulaula. And seeing how small and uninhabited Poni looks, it only having one trial isn’t surprising

      • Yeah, forgot about that, you’re right. My theory is that they’re cramming most of the trials inbetween the beginning and the story arc.

    • 7 trails (not sure if this includes Totem Pokemon or not) and Kahuna battles.
Honestly I was expecting 15-20 trials in total, unless they are actually long trials that take a while to complete.
Kahuna battles are just glorified Gym battles. But I’m wondering if there is E4 equivalent.

        • Maybe who knows could be anything.

I’m picturing the First Island as:
          Trial 1 – Totem Gumshoos
          Trial 2 – Collect something
          Trial 3 – Take Pictures
          Grand Trial – Kahuna battle.

          Finish around lvl 20-22

          • But my honest hope is that it’s not linear.

And we have to remember that Team Skull, Aether Foundation and the UBS will be playing a big role as well

          • I dunno, Akala has at least three Captains and Ulaula is much bigger than Melemele, as well as the fact Totem Gumshoos is Level 12 whereas Hala’s Crabrawler is Level 15.

      • There is the “island challenge champion”. Hopefully we get some sort of E4 though, it’d be boring to just have the champion battle (if it was easy at least).

    • Considering you get a z crystal for each trial i really thought there would be one for each type or at least a combo of trials and kahunas to cover all types. Sucks a bit as we already know at least 6 of the 7 trial captains and 2..possibly 3 or even 4 of the kahunas 🙁

      • To be fair though, Trial Captains aren’t as important spoiler wise as their Totem Pokémon as those are the bosses of the trial whereas the Captains are pretty much just guides and stuff, and we only know three Totems out of seven (two out of eight counting Totem Ratticate).

        • I suppose but they are still the gym leader equivalent this gen and normally we know about 4 out of 8 before release and no elite 4… unless the elite 4 and Champion are still a thing and we just dont know it yet then we know a lot more than normal without even looking at the datamine.

  8. Another dev interview:
    – They wanted S/M to be new and fresh because of the 20th anniversary.
    – Reconfirms that Mega Evolution is post-game.
    – Ride Pokemon replaced HMs, because they felt more natural.
    – Time was changed to encourage trading.
    – You could buy clothes with money instead of Festival Coins.
    – There will be a lot to do during your quest before and after becoming the Island Challenge Champion.
    – Designing Pokemon takes up a lot of time.

    Reply
    • Lol how does time encourage trading?

The post game thing excites me, we’ve heard this before so they must be really confident about it. (BATTLE FRONTIER!!)

The “designing Pokemon takes a lot of time” thing seems like a lighter way to say there won’t be a lot of new Pokemon.
