The article below contains spoilers for Pokémon Sun & Moon.
We have chosen not to publish any images obtained from the demo version and as such the information below is a text rundown of what has been uncovered. The comment section of this article will also contain spoilers.
The demo version of Pokémon Sun & Moon is currently live in some regions and some avid trainers have gotten to work uncovering everything the demo has to offer.
It seems that lessons haven’t been learned from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and the demo files contain information on some currently unannounced Pokémon and over information. It’s unknown if the demo contains files for all new Pokémon in the games, though at this point it seems almost definite.
Leaked Information
Alolan Forms
The demo contains files confirming the existence of many more Alolan Pokémon:
- Geodude, Graveler and Golem
- Diglett and Dugtrio
- Persian
New Pokémon & Ultra Beasts
- There are at least five new Ultra Beasts, bringing the total to 8
- The leaked Starter Pokémon evolutions are real
- Pikipek appears to evolve into a toucan Pokémon in it’s final stage
- Crabrawler, Wimpod, Morelull and Salandit all receive evolutions
- Solgaleo and Lunala both have a pre evolution/lesser form
- A new Pokémon that appears to be based on an anchor
- A new Pokémon and it’s evolution that were previously leaked by an Amazon listing for the upcoming Sun & Moon TCG expansion
- Another two Pokémon evolution line that appears to be part Bug type
- Marshadow is a real Pokémon, but doesn’t look anything like Solgaleo or Lunala
- Magearna has a form that looks more like a traditional Poké Ball
- Ash Pikachu is in the game and appears to be able to wear Ash’s hat from each region of the anime
- [NEW] The Pokémon models found within the demo are only from Pokémon found in the Alola Pokédex
[NEW] Pokémon Moves
- It seems there are a total of 719 moves in the games, by comparison Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire had 621
- 3 of these new moves appear to be taught via TM
- 29 of the new moves are Z-Moves (18 Z-Moves for each type and 11 special Z-Moves)
- HMs no longer exist and are not available as a regular TM
[NEW] Items
- There are 920 items present in the demo, 58 of which are related to Z-Moves
- A new medicinal item similar to Lava Cookie that cures all
- A new battle item with held effect (like Dire Hit)
- At least 6 new holdable items with effects
- A Key Item that is likely used to change Zygarde forms
- 3 items that are used to change forms
- Bikes and Travel Trunks (an unused key item) are not in the demo/games
- The Strange Souvenir item data appears unchanged in the games
- 1 new type of Poké Ball
- It appears the new ball cannot be bought or sold

In fact, not all. Gen 6 had 5 standalone on 67 new pokemon. Gen 7 has 14 standalone on 62. Counting Legends we have 20 on 72 being stanadalone. For instance, more then 1 on 4 is a standalone.

Anyway, nothing could save Pyukumuku or Drampa
No. Just new pokemon. I mean Gen 5 introduced 14 non legends standalone on 143 non legend new pokemon, why shoulded gen 7 introduce the same amount of standalones having half of the pokemon of gen 5?
Gamefreak is counting alolan forms as new pokemon, that might explain why they didn’t make more pokemon. They don’t have to follow what we think they should do lol they’ve never had and never will. We weren’t expecting gen 5 to have 143 pkm, gen 6 to have so little so yeah

What type do we think Marshadow is now we’ve seen it?
If it truly does have a unique typing that helps us narrow. I have a few ideas.
1) Dark/Fairy
2) Ghost/Normal
3) Poison/Fairy
4) Psychic/Poison.
Of course if it wasn’t for the fact that we’ve been told it’s Unique I’d have said Dark/Ghost tbh.

I think some people are trying to stay away from reading the leaks, hence the spoiler tags.
It’s not really leak since people have been guessing its mysterious typing for a while now.

I’m not actually surprised if this is the amount of Pokemon we are getting. I’ve been thinking that they would release all Pokedex (maybe keeping some legendaries as secret) till the game release. Gen 6 and Gen 7 has few amount of Pokemon because of Mega Evolution designs and new Alolan Pokemon designs respectively.
Regardless of the data mining, what annoys me is how they released so many pokemon early on, which in a sense, gave false hope and didn’t leave much to be discovered when the games are released. Same can be said for the Alolan forms.

The things we battle in B2/W2 in the film place that aren’t pokemon have shinies too I believe, they’re not catchable
Because they are Pokemon, but also humans. Hence their French names ”Ultra Chimeras”
Because it’s a programming thing, they’re met in battle, they need to have a shiny sprite as well.

There’s an area in the demo where you can catch and use other Pokémon but you have to release them.
Idk how many you could catch there. I got 4 and walked out lol

I agree with marlin, that is no dolphin.
I can see why a glance one would confuse if but it’s clearly a fish fun and not a dolphin fin.
Remember that the leaker is just a guy who did not have the possibility to discuss with sugimori about inspiration. So, that’s the closest thing to a dolphin we had and it’s for sure what the leaker saw.
I understand that, it also explains the snowman being a yeti crab. What I’m saying is that isn’t a dolphin.
also, im highly dissapointed with the water types this gen. Popplio is fine. But the others one? underwhelming. The only that deserves loves are wimpod and the starfish. Even tho I am not a huge fan of wimpod evo, I can see why people like it

Plenty of comments are full of love and praise too. But I guess people that are satisfied are less likely to make a bunch of comments as angry people that want to vent thier dissatisfaction. That’s just life.
i dont like the water types = im dissapointed. Is not really that hard to grasp. I think everyone is thankful. Not every single pokemon are a hit. we can complain if we want
I’m happy with Wimpod. He was my favorite from when he was leaked. I’m 100% satisfied. Though I’m sad about the lack of an original Dark type. Not that I’m whining about it, mind you.
