[NEW] Pokémon Sun & Moon Demo Leaks New Pokémon & More

The article below contains spoilers for Pokémon Sun & Moon.

We have chosen not to publish any images obtained from the demo version and as such the information below is a text rundown of what has been uncovered. The comment section of this article will also contain spoilers.

The demo version of Pokémon Sun & Moon is currently live in some regions and some avid trainers have gotten to work uncovering everything the demo has to offer.

It seems that lessons haven’t been learned from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and the demo files contain information on some currently unannounced Pokémon and over information. It’s unknown if the demo contains files for all new Pokémon in the games, though at this point it seems almost definite.

Leaked Information

Alolan Forms

The demo contains files confirming the existence of many more Alolan Pokémon:

  • Geodude, Graveler and Golem
  • Diglett and Dugtrio
  • Persian

New Pokémon & Ultra Beasts

  • There are at least five new Ultra Beasts, bringing the total to 8
  • The leaked Starter Pokémon evolutions are real
  • Pikipek appears to evolve into a toucan Pokémon in it’s final stage
  • Crabrawler, Wimpod, Morelull and Salandit all receive evolutions
  • Solgaleo and Lunala both have a pre evolution/lesser form
  • A new Pokémon that appears to be based on an anchor
  • A new Pokémon and it’s evolution that were previously leaked by an Amazon listing for the upcoming Sun & Moon TCG expansion
  • Another two Pokémon evolution line that appears to be part Bug type
  • Marshadow is a real Pokémon, but doesn’t look anything like Solgaleo or Lunala
  • Magearna has a form that looks more like a traditional Poké Ball
  • Ash Pikachu is in the game and appears to be able to wear Ash’s hat from each region of the anime
  • [NEW] The Pokémon models found within the demo are only from Pokémon found in the Alola Pokédex

[NEW] Pokémon Moves

  • It seems there are a total of 719 moves in the games, by comparison Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire had 621
  • 3 of these new moves appear to be taught via TM
  • 29 of the new moves are Z-Moves (18 Z-Moves for each type and 11 special Z-Moves)
  • HMs no longer exist and are not available as a regular TM

[NEW] Items

  • There are 920 items present in the demo, 58 of which are related to Z-Moves
  • A new medicinal item similar to Lava Cookie that cures all
  • A new battle item with held effect (like Dire Hit)
  • At least 6 new holdable items with effects
  • A Key Item that is likely used to change Zygarde forms
  • 3 items that are used to change forms
  • Bikes and Travel Trunks (an unused key item) are not in the demo/games
  • The Strange Souvenir item data appears unchanged in the games
  • 1 new type of Poké Ball
    • It appears the new ball cannot be bought or sold

We will update with further details if and when they come.

REMEMBER: This information is currently unannounced and has been leaked from the demo. Please respect the wishes of others and mark your spoilers correctly.

  1. Random question, what type do you believe the Metroid spider will be?
I see some sort of electric/something for some unexplained reason

  2. so kinda just speaking my mind, one thing i love to do as i play is write my own little stories based on my character’s misadventures, Pokemon capture stories, gym battles, and big events. and i truly can’t wait to see what will come

now i gotta think of a clever way to write in my newfound interest for Wimpod

    Reply
    • Hmmm… how about… “Trainer dismissed Wimpod, wimpod got into a battle and (as expected) wimped out, but to please its trainer it tried to get braver, so it eventually defied its ability and evolved.”

    • I see Wimpod as being a little scavenger that keeps stealing your food until you beat it up, yet it rises to the challenge no matter how many times you stop him and you eventually decide to train him up because you can see the determination in its eyes.

      • nah i think they’d be too skittish to approach humans let alone take food from them
maybe when my team is chilling on the beach, maybe my Rockruff is playing in a tidepool and rouses a Wimpod and as it skitters into my open bag and lodges itself in a Pokeball, then it just never leaves me alone

        • it even pops out by itself and tries to fight, but then gets scared and returns.(I legitimately hope this happens to ash in the anime)

        • Haha, I love it. Sounds like Misty’s Psyduck But more derpy and weak. Then one day, it save you from a tricky situation and overcomes the weakness to evolve and show you that it can be helpful.

          Reply
          • nah it still kinda sucks as a fighter, i try battling, it wimps out, i leave it at the beach, it follows me, i violently huck it into the ocean and still manages to come back,
but despite this i discover that this wimpod is a phenomenal scavenger which lets me find treasures

    • You’re trying to catch your favorite ground type that’s in this game the pokemon smacks away the ball and hits a wimpod hiding nearby it catches it.

This is also assuming the Solgaleo and Lunala pre-evos aren’t just formes and the Ultra Beasts aren’t Pokedex’d ‘mons. We are either at 792 or 794 Pokemon. First time we haven’t moved into the next hundred block. Disappointed for sure, but more so in alola forms than the new ‘mons. 18 just seems like such a small number… Ah well, maybe we will get more in the 3rd Game/Sinnoh Remake/Sequels if we get any of those. With the NX right around the corner though these games do really seem like the last Ho-rah for the 3DS…

      • What source is needed? These aren’t the real numbers excluding Jangmo-o, Hakamo-o and Kommo-o that were revealed in the demo. I’m just saying that if you follow the notion that they will be the last non-legendary mons in the dex that all the other spoiled Pokemon fit perfectly between them and Volcanion. That would mean any other new Pokemon come after them (Making them legendaries) or, and far more likely, there aren’t anymore new Pokemon (except maybe mythicals that haven’t be revealed yet and weren’t coded in).

  5. Well I guess that proves it, (At least for me) that the
UB’s ARE basically Pokemon! I mean why else would they give them SHINY
FORMS if they weren’t. And with the Alolan forms. I thought someone said that the Alolan form for Persian was suposed to be gorgeous, OMG That is one of the uglyest Pokemon I have ever seen!!!! It looks like a warped Garfield the Cat!!!! Persian is one of my top fave Pokemon, why? Why did they have to ruin it with that abomination, they call it’s Alolan form, WHYYYYYY!!!!!! And the Tapu’s, I LOVE the cute little pink one, though I like the purple one as well.

  6. Can’t wait to play competitive with a new limited dex. At least until January.
Majority of common OU mons will be unavailable at first.
Although I’m wondering how we will be getting hidden abilities. Any news on a Friend Safari type thing?

  7. Maybe I’m just in denial at this point, but this seems super incomplete. No evos for Komala, Pyukumuku, Comfey and Minior? MINIor? I’m probably just grasping for false hope here? There are so many small baby looking one stages, and there are only 4 3 stages other than the starters. I want to tell myself that I’m happy with this list but to be competely honest, I’m not.

  8. Also 1 ice type, and it’s not even a primary typing likely. . . The next region better be a snowy region, ice type needs some love. Anyway, I just need to move on from my dissapointment with the dex and focus on the features and areas of the game rather than the new pokemon.

  9. Here’s my thoughts.

Alolan Persian… Why…? I mean, honestly, I think I would have preferred they become an elegant bipedal grey persian than a cat who let fortune go to their head.

Alolan Geodude line is okay. I honestly think I like the fake leaks more where they were volcanic.

I’m quite disappointed that GF revealed all but 17 – 19 new pokemon.

I’m definitely enjoying Wimpod’s evolution (who I’m calling Wrathynomus after the Giant Isopod genus) so much. I’m definitely getting one of these monsters. But, it does make me wonder… Are Wimpod and Crabrawler version exclusives or some new fossil-type thing?

Speaking of Crabrawler, that evolution of its… I’m hereby dubbing it Saskiwallop after the Kiwa hirsuta (Yeti Crab/Yeti Lobster) and calling the Fighting/Ice type combo. I’ll love that fuzzy lumpkin to death!

I’m not sure how to feel about the rest yet.

The shinies are disappointing imo, especially when compared to X and Y. These ones are much like gens 4 and 5’s shinies. Although, I do appreciate how Mimikyu’s color schemes are references to old gameboys. The regular colors being GBC and shiny being GB. Nice!

And I’m super sad that I saw the (what I’ll call) Eclipsed forms of Marshadow, Lunala, and Solgaleo. I’m also pretty sad I saw the Tikis and UBs. Hopefully I can forget…

    • I need to get this in quickly before somebody mentions johto: Johto and Kanto and closely linked, Alola is very far away from other regions. It makes sense for Johto to have no fossils, it doesn’t for alola.

    • Alola is based on Hawaii which is a group of extremely new islands. Hawaii doesn’t really have fossil records of anything other than maybe some old plants or micro-organisms. I think it’s a safe bet to say there will be no fossil mons, especially with the inclusion of 5 old gen fossil Pokemon in the regional dex.

  10. I think it’s safe to say the “missing” sprites are the totem Pokemon. We already know Alolan Raticate, Gumshoos and Kommo-o are totem Pokemon and wouldn’t you know it, but three of the missing seven sprites come after them…

  11. One thing is for sure, my teams are getting revamped if this is real, which it seems to be. I just wish Komala got an evolution, do we think there is still more to come though?

  12. The demo was too short but whet my appetite for sure, Dat music, Mmmm. I must have waited for at least 2 minutes every time a new song came on, Skull theme for the win. :’D
