Alright so the Demo is everyone’s biggest thought now so I figure we should lay down some ground rules
Absolutely no doubt we’re all going to get it so I say we should try to limit telling what we see, I myself will be a temporary 3 hour leave to play the demo thoroughly and soak up all every, inch, of detail
But the more important is if it gets datamined. And if we’re going to be posting info here under spoilers
Maybe PJ should just sticky a news post to act as a spoiler thread once the demo drops.

Fair. I’m of the unpopular opinion that anti-spoiler people should just avoid social media and news websites anyway. But I know that that’s too insensitive for most people to swallow.
To be fair though, people shouldn’t have to be forced off of media to avoid something, because spoiler people get to stay on regardless. I do feel that giving people the choice of spoiler threads and non spoiler threads is the way to go.
lol Like I understand where you’re coming from, so don’t take this the wrong way, but I hate when people act like it’s some Arceus granted, basic human right to constantly be on social media and/or the internet in general and never ever have anything pop up that you don’t want to see or here. As if it’s everyone else’s job to protect you. I’ll follow whatever rules PJ decides to go with cause I’ve really enjoyed this little community, but I couldn’t care less for anti-spoiler people who need what is essentially a safe space.
Oh no, it’s definitely not some sort of right I expect, it’s just a luxury that I wish more people could indulge in. And there’s plenty of alternative places I can go for Pokémon news and discussion, it’s just I’m going to miss the people here.
I can respect that. I’m just one of those people that spoilers don’t negatively impact my enjoyment on really anything. While reading GoT I was talking to my friends about the books I hadn’t even read yet. I dunno. Im weird. I’ll admit it. Lol
I think for the comments there should be a guide of how to post spoiler tags etc for the comments as the featured comment so people know and can use them accordingly. I would also like some separate articles for full leaks and just Pokémon leaks.

Well to be fair it’s not about laziness or anything really. It just takes a lot of time/effort/money to take all those things out. Their mindset (as it should be) is that leaks don’t happen. I don’t blame them for not wanting to waste their time on something like a demo. Plus there are risks to cleaning out demos. Certain parts might F up the game if taken out and they don’t always know what part that is. It’s safer just to leave it all in there for the games performance sake.

I’d say my LV 40s at the time would be highly capable. I might do a little grinding at the E4, when the exp is more accessible.
Maybe a tiny bit? Gen 1/2 (plus their remakes) always did a crappy job of making sure you could get up to the correct levels once you reach the E4. I’m trying to finish Yellow before Sun and Moon come out, but all my Pokemon are mid 40’s. I’ll need to grind in order to get them at a decent level to take on the E4 and Blue…..
The thing is, I’m not having too much trouble with the battles, and I’m somewhat enjoying the added challenge (plus grinding SUCKS).
You know those items that raise stats? I thing they’re called X (Stat)? Use them when you have the chance in battle, my level 30something (late thirties) swept Lance with aurora beam :p

My whole team was 55 when I did it so maybe? Then again I’ve been over training in every game since gen 1 as a result of having a massively hard time against Gary. By gen 3 and up, my standard was that my entire team be at 75 for the E4. In 6 they ended up being 100 because the exp share made it stupidly easy to grind

Well, like I said, in gen 2 it was because I didn’t want to lose ever again and I really didn’t understand the way RPGs worked as a kid. So I 15 by the first gym and then 5 levels every gym. It also helped to pad the game so I didn’t beat it too quickly.
By gen 3 this got messed with when I was at 20 near granite cave. I wandered in without flash, got lost and didn’t find the exit until like a week later and by then my pokemon were around 24-25, so I just made that the new standard. I wotked really well in gen 4 since there was such a huge gap between gyms which gave me more time to train.
Hell, I remember abusing the VS seeker in FRLG so much that my team was over trained. One day my friend came over and accidentally took my copy thinking it was his green. As a gentleman’s agreement, we looked over each one’s data without saving just to see where the other was. He called me though and was like, “Dude, why is your team lv 50…and you only have 3 badges?”
I guess it just got out of hand after a while lol
You have Ice Beam? ’cause you’re probably gonna need it. I’d think at least early 40’s, mine were only around 42 when I went in I think.

Actually if Ithsme wanted to he could get a Choice Specs at the Lake of Rage if he doesn’t think Blizzard would be strong enough to take out his Dragonites. It’s an option, but I think he’ll be fine because Slowking has a 100 SP Attack stat, which should be able to take out a Dragonite or 2.
The issue was more if Blizzard will actually hit, it’s definitely powerful enough, but it’s accuracy is somewhat lacking.
Yes, usually in HGSS my team is around 50-60 when I get to the E3 (without grinding or anything)
I forgot mo mention, but did you pick up the Choice Specs at the lake of Rage? Using it with the stat boosting items is amazing.
Yeah you should grind a bit. Turn on a long YouTube series or TV show, sit back and train up!
I would say grind up to the low 40s or something higher than that because even with leveling up my Pokemon to that level Lance kicked my ass and almost beat me, if it weren’t for my Ampharos’s Thunder.

Have HMs been confirmed as removed from Sun and Moon with the introduction of Poke Ride? I think it would be a tad silly to mount a Pokémon just to cut down a single bush blocking your path. 😛 (or maybe cut/bushes are no longer an obstacle?)

You probably won’t get to catch any Pokémon. Just your starter and Ash-Greninja. Or maybe just Ash-Greninja since we’ve only seen starter evolutions stage 1.
I don’t think we’ll be able to catch it, only Greninja has been confirmed and I feel like the middle starters are the only others we’ll get.
Though if we get more I feel like evolving will be blocked for certain Pokémon.

Mangosteens have a property in which fruits that are sealed with them get ripe faster and stay that way longer. Maybe this could be a Grass type version of Flame Body (minus the burn)
Is anyone else digging how much Ghosts there are? Like having tons of Fairies, Grasses, and Normals is really easy to guess of region like Alola, but it’s a nice surprise to see one of the rarest types get more. Hopefully next Gen is something like Canada, Russia or even a hyper exaggerated Scotland so we can get more Ice Types.
Oh yeah, I’m really enjoying the amount of Ghost Types we have so far. It adds in more recognition and variety to the type that’s always lacked a large amount.

What was the team that you used for HG/SS, where did you get your Pokemon from your team, and what was the most memorable part about the game?
For my answer, my team was:
Typhlosion (Kai)
Crobat (Violet)
Ampharos (Wyatt)
Heracross (Ceros)
Tentacruel (Brook)
Tyranitar (Ninkovich)
I got Kai as a starter, Violet when I went to explore Dark Cave, Wyatt when I needed a Pokemon to take out, so I went to Route 32, Ceros when I was just head butting some trees in Azalea and then came across it, Brook when I surfed around Route 40 (with my sentret), and Ninkovich after I spent half a week trying to get a Larvitar in the Safari Zone.
A really memorable part from HeartGold was the Champion Battle, because all of my and Lance’s Pokemon got knocked out, so his under leveled Dragonite and my Ampharos were battling for a very long time. We both were using up our moves quite a bit, but my Ampharos narrowly finished off his Dragonite with the remaining PP I had on Thunder. I felt so accomplished after that.

Cool, its got a nice amount of Defense and Offense to balance the team out. Is there a memorable part with that team during your play through?
All the tribial brain dablage from hitting so many tees trying to get my Heracross
Ampharos, Girafarig, Typhlosion, Mamoswine, Togetic, Mantine. The most memorable part was when I got lost on my way to the Ice gym
I do remember in my very first play through that happened to me too, it was very confusing lol
So I know I’ve brought it up a bunch but it’s never been as it’s own comment, just in to the comments of comments, and it can help kinda buffer out the low convo count, but would anyone be seriously interested in a story project for SuMo?
Basically, it’d be a shared universe everyone could write in and could have crossovers based off our SuMo characters and Pokémon, although obviously adjustments will have to be made (not everybody can be carrying around an Solgaleo and Lunala and not everyone can be the hero of Alola :p).
I feel it’d be a good opportunity to get some more writing practice and encourage members to write :p
I would want to be a regular novice trainer who starts with a Wimpod. <3
Makes sense, the very nature of Wimpod would lend itself to a narrative and not everyone can get a starter to start with
Exactly! I just hope Wimpod is available early in the games. But, knowing Pokemon’s formulatic distribution it probably will be a post 3rd “gym leader” type of deal.
It’s a weak Bug-type so I feel it’ll show up fairly early, but I doubt it’ll be past half way through Akala Island which is only about 3/8 through the game (and thats assuming all the islands take the same time to complete, which they almost definitely won’t)
So definitely early game or the start of mid game.
I hope you’re right. I mean it’s ability alone screams early pokemon. But, we shall see!

Well, I’d really love to see the full roster before choosing, but I could see me having a Rockruff, Litten, Komola, Pikipek, and a Salandit.

Plus the riddler says we don’t know all there is to know about the starter’s evolutions. So maybe the split form is still a concept worth considering?

That’s fine, you’d probably have to cut out the ‘saving the world’ bit if you were to get involved with the project because I don’t want to have anyone as some sort of world saving hero for balance reasons. But a veteran trainer who’s travelled around the world is fair game, just as most backstories are as long as they’re not Mary-suey.

not sure I 100% understand what it would be but I’m 100% interested! I like to think if I were a trainer I would always start fresh in a new region only bringing along my trusty Swirlix and my goal in each region would first and foremost to be to catch and research every type of fairy I could find (the gyms and i guess trails just being a side thought for me)
It would basically all just be stories in Alola (unless it’s backstory) but I like the idea of being a type researcher, it’s a really cool idea o haven’t seen yet!
BTW you don’t have to do trials if you don’t want to, your character could just have a different goal in mind ^^

Just wanted to clarify since people might still be unsure of this. Silvally is a combination of silver and ally. It’s not pronounced sil•val•lee. It’s pronounced silv•alī. The proof is in its name in other languages:

I can’t comment on the French and Japanese translations, but amigo is definitely a Spanish word (for friend) and not German. I’d imagine that the German name would be a composition of German words, not Spanish.
Furthermore, I looked at the Spanish site and the name is the same as in English.
The Pokémon games tend to have named from other languages, it’s not that odd to have a German name contain Spanish.
Spanish and Italian Pokémon names are always the same as English ones.
German Pokémon names tend to use other languages, including the dead language known as Latin, as well as their own language. Actually, German is the only language that has Pokémon names originating from other languages. English and Japanese does this as well.

It provides extra depth into what a Pokémon represents.
It should be noted that Type: Null is the only Pokemon that has its name changed in Spanish and Italian games. It’s literally the translation of Type: Null in both languages and it shows that Type: Null is not really a Pokemon name, but it’s something different, more literal.
For me it’s a pun of Salvador Dali maybe cuz he is a one of my favorite artist.
Wow I almost beat the E4 AND Champion in Yellow! I didn’t think I’d get as far as past Lorelei, but I beat her and then I beat Bruno and then I beat Agatha (tougher than the others actually) and then to my surprise I actually beat Lance! I got through Blue’s first Pokemon (Sandslash), but then his Alakazam wrecked my team. I went into this with very little potions and by the end I was relying on revives to keep going. If I had more Super Potions and my Pokemon were a little bit higher in level I would have likely beaten it. lol

I can believe that a Pokémon so many people just kinda swept to the side has become so popular as speculation, art and just as itself.
Also, spectacular art, the artists out done themselves.
Yeah, I didn’t expect Type: Null to evolve and definitely didn’t expect it to look pretty similar only bigger, but it’s a really interesting Pokémon over all. I likes.
This is easy. Malva, especially thanks to that fun turnaround twist in the XY&Z series. Siebold comes 2nd, with Wikstrom my least favorite.
