  1. I actually don’t mind data mines or leaks because:
    1. I have more fun going in knowing everything as opposed to going blind
    2. I went in playing Black and White knowing 100% of almost everything yet the story, the compelling characters, the twists and turns of the mechanics and the overall theme still made it seem 101% fresh
    3. My rule is: Even if you think you know, you don’t know because no matter how linear and straightforward Pokemon may be, I don’t play to be wowed away by the story or the difficulty; I play to have a good time, train some Pocket Monsters, and become the very best like no one ever was

    • 1. I’ve never played a Pokemon game blindly, so I want to know what it’s like to go onto a route and find a completely new Pokemon, it’s going to be so interesting. Plus the story has too much to spoil at this point.
      2. Not much to say on this.
      3. I don’t know what you mean by this honestly.

          • It means you can spoil the whole game for yourself beforehand, but when you actually play it, the experience and atmosphere is still fresh. As I said before, I don’t play a Pokemon game for the story or difficulty, rather for the Pokemon, characters, and region itself. So it doesn’t harm me much when I spoil the story for myself.

    • Ew they look awful (the Pokemon don’t look different). I’m really hating this anime so far, hopefully this is a one-off type thing and gen 8 returns to normal.

      • It’s meant to be observed in motion. The style sacrifices looking better and more fluid in animation by looking worse in stills. And anime is animated, so it makes sense to have something that looks better in motion than in stills.

        • It STILL looks bad when it’s in motion though. Ash’s Design is the worst of all. His hair us not mrant to be so round the little black “lightning bolts” of sorts on his face are now blunt and curvy. This animation style just isn’t right imo.

    • The Pokémon look good, as they used to, but I hate how the hair on human characters is so round at the tips. Also the facial features used to look so good. This could only be a demotion.

  2. These go Drasna>Wilkstrom>Siebold>Malva for me. Despite being well designed Gym leaders or E4 rarely leave enough of an impression on me that I can tally them, but for some reason in this case I can.
The first two are honestly just more interesting design wise and idea wise, except of course Malva’s who’s probably one of the most developed and interesting E4 ever idea wise (especially outside the games, where she’s reduced to being hissy at you).
(That said she’s more interesting in the manga where she’s uncompromisingly a badass bad guy as opposed to her sudden anime heel-face turn that sort of came out of nowhere)
However, despite loving the idea of a high-ranking member of the evil team being part of the E4, I don’t really like her design or her bratty and vindictive personality, so she gets last :p .

      • Honestly I did not spend that much time in the battle maison ever. I even forgot my ranking…Viscount? All I ever got was just the random npc. I knew gym leaders showed up once in a while, but I never knew the elite 4 came to the chateau too!

        • I can’t remember if you have to get your rank up to Grand Duke to get the elite 4 and champion. With the Black writ their ‘mon are level 70 and Diantha’s are 80. It’s a bit harder, depending on the level of your ‘mons.

          • I might end up transfering one of my shiny teams back to X before Sun&Moon come out just out of curiosity of upgrading the Battle Chateau. I’m always up for fighting the gym leaders again

  3. Drasna! Besides of her awesome sense of fashion (those dragon claw heels mmm), her nice vibe, and the backstory of how she got into the dragon types, she’s actually one of the very little major older women character in the whole Pokemon series.

There are many grandpa or older male characters but not enough grandma characters or just older ladies that looks like above 30 years old. These type of character are seriously lacking in the whole franchise and I’m just glad Drasna is one representation of those type of character (and I hope at least one of the unrevealed Kahuna in SuMo will also be one).

  4. Okay so it seems Turtonator and Drampa are version exclusives. That sucks! I really wanna use Drampa in my first play through but I’m getting Sun 🙁

  5. Huh? I’m pretty surprised that many of you guys like Drasna the most. However, I’m going with Malva this time, even though I love both of them. I honestly loved her personality xD
