  • Festival Plaza allows players to interact with one another and earn Festival Coins.
  • Festival Coins can be used in shops to purchase a variety of things, from stat increase items to clothing and accessories
  • Poké Pelago is a new location that Pokémon stored in PC Boxes can visit. Poké Pelago can allow you Pokémon to attract Wild Pokémon, uncover new items or even train and increase their levels.
  • Mega Evolution returns and is achieved through the Z-Ring
  • Demo for Sun & Moon releases October 18th on the eShop

          • I’m indifferent to it, though I do get where you’re coming from. To this day I’ve always hated on Samurot for being such a massive, impractical leap from Dewott.

            Originally I liked Greninja, then I used it in game and regretted it and now I really don’t like it.

            Greninja is only liked because Ash used it. If they gave Ash Chesnaut everyone would like that.

            Chesnaut could have easily been bestowed with some extra lore.

            They could have done the same for Delphox too.

            Greninja didn’t have any personality. It was generic and badly designed.
            Delphox would have been a much better choice.

          • Of course it’s shallow and superficial there is beauty in ugliness there is a perfection in imperfection ……wat scarf add?…..making him creepy mysterious, weird ….all these adjectives together make a good personality and clear character ………Delphox is the best of Kalos starters but this is my emotion ….the big view is not my emotion Delphox can’t hold Greninja position.

            Note: u didn’t react on the pic ……u should notice pkmn r just like the actors and not all actors deserve to be protagonist.

          • So you’re also being shallow by assuming Greninja’s appearance (i.e. his tongue) impacts his personality.
            The tongue just makes Greninja’s design disgusting, nothing more.

            Delphox could have easily been used in place of Greninja. Most people only like Greninja because Ash uses it and because of Ash-Greninja. If they’d given Ash Delphox and had Ash-Delphox, they’d like Delphox better.

            Any character can be a protagonist.
            If any of those hadn’t appeared in the Anime it wouldn’t have bothered me

        • I mean, I’m not gonna lie, it has grown on me. I never planned on using litten to begin with, but I never really hated the design. It’s like a rejected character from Swat Kats or something.

          Honestly, love it or hate it, guys like him really shine when seen in motion and this gen has some very animated pokemon. My only hope is that his static pose is like a grappler ready stance or a pre lunge pose instead of just awkwardly standing there like many gen 6 poses ended up being.

          • I planned on using Litten until they turned it into Tony the Tiger.

            They’re just going to bung it a ton of generic wrestling poses and references to famous wrestlers that only people who like wrestling will understand.

            Hawlucha I could live with, but Tony is too much.

  3. I think Arrowl (as I call Rowlet3) will have diffrent color scheme that on leak. It’s similar to Rowlet’s but overall he is still similar to Dartrix.

With the reveal of the partner Pokemon’s second form and their detailed descriptions, what typings do we think think their final form will be, AND do we think they will have version exclusive final evolutions? I’m thinking Grass/Flying or Grass/Dark (he sounds kinda dark….), Fire/Fighting (even though I pray it is not) and Water/Psychic or Water/Fairy…

      • Personally I’ve never understood why people hate fire/fighting starters.

        Gamefreak changed the formula to make a fire/psychic starter and everybody hated that too.

        Yet Infernape and Blaziken remain popular.

        People are weird.

        • Delphox was hated because of its design. Infernape and blaziken weren’t hated because they were number 1 and 2. For Blaziken it wasn’t a thing yet. Infernape it was the second time in a row, but that’s forgivable because it’s not a trend then. It’s just when Emboar came it pissed everyone off, no one thought they’d do it another time. It changed from what could just be one of many things done twice in a row to seeming like game freak was intentionally trying to annoy the fans, or were oblivious to what they wanted. Or maybe we just didn’t notice that it was a new tradition for fire fighting starters. But Delphox disproves the last point.

        • I think people got bored of having 3 Fire/Fighting starters in a row, especially when it wasn’t necessary for Emboar in my opinion.

          And before you start saying we have the same regional rodents , birds e.t.c every gen, I tend to think of starters differently compared to other generic Pokemon…considering I like using my starter and I haven’t used any of the Generic birds/rodents ever.

          Personally I got bored of having 2 Dragon Type Legendary trios in a row as well as all these Dragon Typed Pseudo Legends….despite the fact that they all are popular.

          • Emboar is the only exception though.
            I think people are transferring their hatred of Emboar onto all fire/fighting types.

            I was just making a point that we have those things every generation and yet people complain about something we’ve only had 3 times.

            Some of the regional birds I actually like (only about 1 or 2 though), and maybe 1 or 2 of the regional normal 2-forms I like.
            Also I’m actually going to miss having gyms, I liked the gym-badge formula. I’m willing to give the trial stuff a go though, despite being one of the more drastic changes it’s one of the ones I’m willing to cut some slack.

            I don’t mind legendary dragons, but there are few pseudos that I actually like. I think Flygon should have been the pseudo for Hoenn instead of Salamence. Dragonite is still my favourite pseudo because it looks more like a proper dragon than Haxorus, Goodra, Hydreigon etc.

        • We’ve only had it 3 times.

          Besides:
          – having a 3 stage bird pokemon every generation is getting old
          – having a boring 2-stage normal type is getting old
          – having a version exclusive legendary and a tie breaker legendary is getting old
          – having a legendary trio every generation is getting old

          etc etc

          • That’s not what he’s talking about. He’s talking about Pikipek, Pidgey, Pidove, Fletchling, etc

            They’ve also had a few 2-stage birds like Taillow, Spearow and Hoothoot

            Out of all of those, only Fletchling broke the mold by being part fire.

          • They’re traditions though, they’re to some degree expected and part of what’s creates a bridge between generations. Having repetitive fire fighting starters I’d argue is different, because it’s not an established tradition instead just an annoying reoccurrence. It sort of takes character out of the fire type too, if grass and water kept changing types then each final starter is distinguished. Fire fighting wouldn’t get boring and you’d have a bunch of very similar looking starters. That’s my opinion anyway

          • I’m not saying I dislike them all, I’m pointing out that people pick and choose what they think is repetitive and what isn’t.

            Besides, gyms used to be tradition, and until this generation they would also have been on that list.

            Besides, they broke the fire/fighting chain and people got upset with Delphox too.

            And nobody complained until Emboar was added.

          • ONLY three times?? We’ve only had 6 generations…. That means half of the fire starters are fighting types

          • 3/6 grass starters are pure grass and 3/6 water starters are pure water.

            Also it took them 20 years to achieve 6 generations, so ‘only 6’ is a bit of an understatement itself.

  8. Bulbapedia finally put up some name origins! …Although, a bit incomplete as of now.

    Dartrix may be a combination of darts and the genus Strix or tricks.
    Fukusurō may be from 梟 fukurō (owl).

    Torracat may be a combination of 虎 tora (Japanese for tiger) and cat. It may also involve torrar, which is Spanish for roast or toast.
    Nyahīto may be a combination of ニャー nyā (meow), 火 hi (fire), and heat.

    Brionne may come from brine.
    Oshamari may be a combination of オシャレ oshare (fashionable), 鞠 mari (ball), and marine.

            Were double battles removed after Gen 3?
            Were Triple battles remoed after Gen 5?
            Was the Special/Physical split reversed after Gen 4?

            There was absolutely no reason other than stupidity that anyone would think Mega Evolution would not be returning.

    -Poke pelago and festival plaza look very fun. Looks like Sun moon will have a ton of additional features
    -Mega evos returned. I seriously hope we get new ones
    Ash greninja is basically being used as a marketing tool,kids who watch the anime and play the demo will want to buy sunmoon because ash greninja will be in it.

            And from the final evos, I don’t feel strongly towards either one. But they’ll grow on me, probably

          • Dartrix may be a combination of darts and the genus Strix or tricks.

            Brionne may come from brio (vivacity of style or performance) and undine, a type of female water nymph or mermaid.

      I think the Fire middle stage is fine, the other two are mediocre at best.

      Mega Evolutions coming back is good and to be expected. Unfortunately I don’t think we will be getting new ones.

      • I like Tarrocat as well, but it’s going to evolve into the wrestler thing so I’m not going to be using it.

        Dartrix is absolutely terrible. But archer rowlett seems cool

          • I never use Protect.
            I don’t use Close Combat because of the stat penalty but can see why some would.
            Speed Boost I can agree with.

            I didn’t get a shiny metagross.
            Nobody told me about the event until it was over.

            Like I said, I’ll just Freeze Dry it with an ice type or throw a Grass type at it.

  18. So those leaked images of the final evos are most likely the final designs. The starters are mediocre to me this region, nothing impressive, but nothing bad. I like Rowletts line. Litten’s is alright but kinda boring to me, they coulda done something cooler. and I don’t really care for Popplio’s. I think they should’ve stuck more to the circus look, instead of going into a siren. and if its going to end up looking that feminine, then they should’ve just tuck with a feminine design from the start. Don’t get me wrong I like Popplio, I just think they could’ve done something cooler with it

      This isn’t the first time this has happened with the starters; Popplio’s situation is basically a type inversion of Chikorita’s.

      • I know what you mean, but even Meganium and Delfox who look a bit more on the feminine side, could still pull off as being a male. But a mermaid, with long eyelashes, and females hair…theres not really anything about that that could pull off as being a male. Its not a bad idea, I just don’t think it should’ve been wasted on Popplio

        • Personally I see Delphox as being neutral and think people get too hooked on the ‘witch’ theme and forget that in Japan they don’t make big distinctions between witches and wizards and just use the generic term ‘madoshi’.

          It’s clear to me that Popplio is supposed to be based on an ‘idol’ (a female Japanese popstar) in an attempt to attract female players, much like how Tony was a poor attempt to attract young male players.

        • I picked a water starter once – I regretted it. Probably going to go for Rowlett this time because I’ve never regretted picking a grass type starter (though I’ll admit I don’t like Venusaur and Torterra much)

          I’m hoping he’ll be fire/fighting to annoy all the people who actually like him. Plus I have nothing against fire/fighting personally, having actually used all the fire/fighting starters at some point and got used to the pattern.

          There are so many good quadrapedal fake Litten evos out there that it got my hopes up for a proper quadrapedal tiger fire starter.

          A fire cat/tiger starter would have been my dream starter because I love cats, but they somehow managed to ruin it.

          • I always go with grass, and I always have a flying pokemon on my team. So him being both, just leaves an open space up for another pokemon on my team so im coolin. Blastoise and Feraligatr were the only water starters I’ve chose. I don’t have a problem with fire/fighting either, i fuk wit Blaziken heavy, but its just unnecessary for that to always be their go-to.

          • I can respect that, I always pick either fire or grass depending on which looks better.

            I never really think about types during the main game, I just let my team change as the situation requires.

            Those are the two water starters I would be ok with using too.

            I like Blaziken and Infernape. Emboar I can accept people having issues with, but prior to Emboar people didn’t have an issue with Fire/Fighting, so I think in a way people are projecting the issue with Emboar onto the Fire/Fighting issue. As I’ve said to others, they made a Fire/Psychic to break the chain and nobody cared, they still complain about Fire/Fighting.

            Plus Gamefreak made a rod for their own back by making what should have been a quadrepedal cat/tiger into a wrestling monstrocity.

    Litten’s line is Hawlucha’s enemy.
    And Popplio’s line is the second coming of Meganium.

          True, but that’s why it’s a bad idea to count on your starter for everything.

          Sometimes I wish they’d try something different like give everyone an Eevee for a starter or give us 6 potential starters instead of 3.

  21. Okay, after much watching, I love Brionne, I’m gonna name it “Risette”, and even if I don’t think much of Litten3, I find the middle stage to be really cute, love the flame bell idea. Rowlet is still my lil baby and I find the awkward emo fringe to be pretty adorkable. 😀

      The final form (Tony the Tiger) is the biggest disaster to hit starter types since Samurott.

        Rowlet is the only one of the starter evolutions leaks that I always liked. And even the Mermaid is growing on me. Second team starter for sure.

          God knows why the localisation team chose to give her that name. Doesn’t really sit right.

          Same, though I’ll admit there are still a few aspects of Rowlett’s 3rd form I dislike. I’m probably going to end up going for Rowlett assuming the leaks are legit. If the leaks get disproven or the split evos rumour is true it will depend on what the alternative to Tony the Tiger is, but otherwise I’m sticking with Rowlett.

          I don’t dislike Popplio’s line, but I’d probably never use them myself, similar to my feelings about Torterra.

          • Still, I’d rather choose Rowlett and put up with a final that’s less than what I hoped than prevent a pokemon I like from evolving into something I hate and trying to keep going.

            The original term was Risechi, which is pretty straightforward (ri-se-chi). I think localisation teams should be made to have a degree in etymology or something 😛

            I’d use Delphox but I agree about Empoleon. It’s an ok pokemon, just not one I’d use.

  22. Not gonna lie I like Brionne a hell of a lot more than the other two. I don’t dislike the other two, they just don’t do it for me. I do like Torracat, but…….I hate myself for even uttering the words………it kind of….looks like a fan made Pokemon……THAT’S NOT A BAD THING!!! There are plenty of cool fakemons out there. Torracat just looks a little off to me. Maybe it’s the coloring? Or maybe because it looks so similar to this fake (rf) Either way I like Torracat and will likely still choose Litten, but muh Pop star has definitely gone up in the rankings lol

    If you don’t have much saved up try to buy as many candies and use them all on a Ditto you intend to use as a Hyper Trainer, regardless of IVs and abilities we’re bound to get one freebie gold bottle cap in our campaign and it’s worth it to use on a True Ditto rather a hacked one

    I urgently suggest to you all to see what kinda miles you have and reap rewards while you can still reap them

      • You kidding it came to me the day Hyper Training was announced
        Now players can actually get a Ditto with 6IVs legitimately and will never have to hack (but still people will hack because they’re lazy sons of bitches cheaters)

        • I didn’t think into hyper training much because they haven’t said that much about it.

          Hackers are indeed a pain.
          Programming should be a tool for good, not for evil. If they want to do something evil, they should hack large companies instead. Or the pentagon, it’s always funny when someone hacks the pentagon.
