The Official Pokémon site has just updated with information for Pokémon Sun & Moon. The update contains details on the new Ultra Beasts announced in CoroCoro earlier this week.
New Information
- Official artwork of UB-02 Beauty and UB-02 Absorption released
- Screenshots of the two new Ultra Beasts in action
- UB-02 Absorption will appear in Pokémon Sun, the Ultra Beast’s entire body is covered in muscle and punch using the full power of it’s muscle strength is said to be immeasurable. UB-02 Absortpion also uses it’s “harder than diamond” probiscus to attack
- UB-02 Beauty will appear in Pokémon Moon. The Ultra Beast is said to attract Pokémon regardless of gender, though it is unclear how it does this. UB-02 Beauty is capable of extreme speeds and can move fast enough to avoid lightning strikes

I had a dream Komala Had Two splits like rockruff. you evolved by putting ur 3ds in sleep mode in one of two areas. One area would make it a Normal/Psychic Called Lucid Dream Pokemon and One wheres Its Normal/Dark and becomes the Nightmare Pokemon. it was so weird

That wouldn’t make any sense. I also think that Rockruff’s evolutions are not version exclusive, because nighttime still exists in Sun and daytime in Moon. Midday evolution is just more common in Sun because it is daytime when most of the people play and vice versa.

The other text makes allusion to being exclusive (独占入手) but could be referring to コロコロ itself. It’s rather cryptic.. I think even Joe Merrick said it was confusing: “are the forms truly version exclusive, or are they just saying it because playing in the day makes Sun Day and Moon Night?”
But they put that they were (exclusive) in the main page.. I assume it is for a reason. Specially since his following tweet was: “It’s just so weird how the page yesterday described it all as if it was time based evolution, and then this page just up-ends that.”

So far they appear to be more of a cross between humans and pokemon.
In that case they’re no different than a Legendary then. What difference does it make gameplay wise with whose the most mysterious. All legends have a mysterious essence to them. If they’re gon be called Ultra Beasts, then they should be separated from regular pokemon and legends imo. Having them be mysterious will add flavor to the storyline and make the game more interesting, but letting you capture it at the end like a regular pokemon just throws everything special about it away

I was Sun from the beginning. Then Solgaleo came and I was sold, then UB-02 Absorption. Again, I’ll have both versions, just my main character that I model myself after will be on Sun. Then my female character will either be the second Sun version or the Moon depending on how the starters turn out. If Popplio or Rowlet have bad final evolutions then she’ll get Moon version, if I like all three then my other male character will play the Moon version with Rowlet and she’ll have Popplio. Then my main character has Litten.

Gen 5 was a semi-reboot with a brand new 151 initially so there were a lot of “homages” to Gen 1 designs.
But X and Y were spiritual succesors to Red and Blue.
Gen 5 was considered the reboot to the series. hence why before the post-game and b2w2 you couldnt find old pokemon
Eh, XY to me felt like its connections to RB were tangental at best and lazy at worst. Rehashed RB legendary trio and random Mewtwo battle. BW was the biggest reboot the series has had since maybe RS.

Version exclusive pokemon don’t bother me because of the GTS and breeding.
I once used Reshiram to fight against Kyurem to capture it in W2. I was young and stupid and thought that dragon attacks are not effective against dragon types. So thus I killed the Kyurem and I didn’t save before the fight soo……… I didn’t even get to see the pokemon on the cover in game xD. I still regret that.
In my very first game I killed Groudon, thinking it would respawn. Oops.
Only time I missed a legendary in a game.
I haven’t missed any other legendaries in my games, exept Terrakion in W2, but that was only because I didn’t really like it.
But now I have a Kyurem in X that I got via GTS but I don’t have Reshiram/Zekrom. So still no White Kyurem/Black Kyurem for me.
That’s why you always save right before you battle so if that happens you can start over and try again.

What if Sun and Moon take place in different dimensions and there is a dimension in the middle that is where Ultra Beasts are from. The middle starts to merge with one of the two dimensions that Sun or Moon take place. The Ultra Beasts try to take over, and Aether is trying to recreate them in their own world. You end up chasing down Lunala or Solgaleo with Team Skull and Guzma because they have the ability to restabilize dimensions, not just have power of the sun or Moon.

Also interesting that Tapu Koko came down when Hala/Melemele Island was in danger.
So Hala doesn’t actually own Tapu Koko, but as a guardian it keeps watch, and appears when it’s needed.
Maybe when the player battles Hala, the Island Guardian appears both to assist Hala and also to test the player character’s worthiness.

Specifically serebii says “In it, it shows the Midday Form being obtained in Pokémon Sun and the Midnight Form being obtained in Pokémon Moon.”. It just says what’s shown, it doesn’t speculate either way.
I really hope it varies by time then, now that you mention it, the Raticate trailer shows Gumshoos as the totem Pokémon in Sun and Raticate in Moon and as far as I know, those aren’t version exclusives, its only affected by the time of day.

Right? You’d think there would be countless of new water types revealed since the region consists of 4 small islands, but they have only revealed 3 new water types and no alolan forms so far.

Depends if they get the design right. I didn’t think they’d manage to make Raticate worse but they did 😛
