A Chinese rumor about Pokémon Sun & Moon has seemingly gained credibility after predicting a Poison/Fire-type Pokémon which was fulfilled with the reveal of Salandit. You can read it below, translated by Cresselia~~ of Smogon Forums.
- There will be no traditional Gyms and no Pokémon League in Alola. Your goal is to actually create one. After you do, an Elite 4 will appear which are the leaders of each island
- The final starter evolutions will be an Archer, a Wrestler and a Siren
- The diamond stones will be collectible throughout the region and act similarly to Mega Stones but not exactly
- New Pokémon based on a dolphin, sea cucumber, snowman, mushroom and a rugby monkey are there
- Rockruff’s evolution is a Werewolf
- Mashadow, another copyrighted Pokémon name, has a very unique type combo
In addition, it seems that the majority of the images of the “leaked” starters (seen above) have mysteriously disappeared from Google image search. There is no way of knowing but it is possible official takedown notices have been sent to have them removed from search results. This is a warning: I may soon remove the images myself.

Weren’t Gyms confirmed already, like in a Treehouse stream or a press release? They definitely have said you have to journey the region to become the Champion
I also thought the Russian leaker (Bruxish and them) said these were fake? But then again it was just people on /vp/ relaying info after it happened, which spread the leak

If they are in fact real Pokejungle could get in trouble for having images of something that wasn’t supposed to be out yet.

They would have to send him a Cease and Desist order to remove the image, and if so, in doing so they’d be confirming AT LEAST that these really will be the final evolutions of the Starters.

Oh snap you actually made an article!!! hahaha I find it quite interesting that Google removed the images of the starer evolutions. this whole thing has me kind of hyped! It’s such a different kind of game and I think that’s what Pokemon needs right now. I guess only time will tell if these are real. I imagine the Pokemon they describe will be shown off sooner rather than later if real as they don’t sound like Pokemon they’d keep hidden until the games release.
Your goal is to create the league…? This makes even less sense. And there being multiple crystals is also silly as I said. And seriously? If these starters are actually real I am not gonna be happy. :/ And really no reason to take them down either people have seen them already. The damage is done.

So this chinese rumor gained credibility by just the reveal of one pokemon that they predicted the type combination for? Tons of other people have predicted similar type combinations, and even people here on Pokejungle have predicted Salandit’s ability. The three final starter evolutions were out since quite a while, and this site could have just easily seen those and could have written them up. Since Rockruff’s reveal was quite recent, the news that it’s evolution would be a werewolf would be quite recent as well. And besides, most people already knows that Rockruff would be getting an evolution – especially with the “moon” thing written on its description on the Sun & Moon Website. I’m not saying this leak isn’t reliable, I’m just saying the way in which it gained credibility as well as the information it has been giving us could be thought up by anyone.
It’s technically not a leak cause I don’ believe most of it but the Popplio is starting to grow me not much though I hope it’s not fairy more Water/ Psychic

I think the only way we could “demolish” the potential final evolutions of these starters would be if the second stage evos were revealed.

Huh, the only thing that sounds really improbable is the creation of a Pokemon league, although guess it is hardly refuted by anything we’ve seen so far, I hope we will se something soon (perhaps in corocoro) that can confirm or deny this. Poison/Fire has always been a type combo that I’ve wanted to see, so it’s not that unlikely that this person could of come up with it on their own.

I think it’s still a bit early. Usually they start to leak during the 9-14 (15 is when it is officially out)

I know they said that these games are going to be different but this could be fake or real we have to remember is a rumor (about the chinese guy thing).What I thought could happen is you know in the anime when Ash enters the Pokemon League is not like in the game you go directly to challenge the elite 4 and the champion, Ash battles other trainers and then he can challenge the elite four and the Champion well what if this game the Pokemon League is like in the anime.

I have to agree with you there. I can sorta stand Litten being that way (after all my hopes and dreams die and I cry on the inside)
but the no gyms thing just feels off to me. Maybe it’s cause I’m used to the Gym format and having it gone just feels so different.
I’ll get used to it, sure, but I’d definitely be weirded out during my first playthrough.
Plus I play the two games at the same time for the first playthroughs, and use Gyms as checkpoints for switching, so I dunno what I’ll do if this turns out to be true.
I think establishing gyms will allow for more nonlinear progression though. I welcome it
Ehhh not necessarily. You can still do gyms and be nonlinear (heck the original games do that, albeit not too good since they barely gave you hints/directions)
Don’t get me wrong, it would be interesting, but at first it’ll be very weird to play through the game without Gyms since I’m so used to them. It doesn’t mean I’ll think it is a bad game.
I guess so. They could do what they do in Origins and change team based on your badges. Still, I think the series can only grow from this. Honestly though it’s how it’s implemented that determines if it’s a good idea

Yeah just because they said “poison/fire pokemon” doesn’t give any crediblitiy to these rumors imo. Poison/Fire has been a wanted type combo, so I’m not buying it. Now if they they said “poison/fire lizard pokemon with a new ablitiy that could poison poison and steel type pokemon” than that would be a different story.

Instead of having no gyms, I wish there WERE gyms, but we could have more freedom, so instead of challenging the gyms in order, we could travel the region going to the gyms in order of which we wanted. Of course the game would know the number of gyms you would have challenged, so the levels would go up. As some people might just choose not to go to gyms at all, and just travel the region instead, we could have certain areas of each island locked so that you would need to beat a gym to get in
What of when you make your gym, yiu can register it online and everyone can battle against eachother’s own gym.
It says no gyms in the traditional sense, so perhaps depending on what gym type you settle for making it will affect what the other gyms types in the game will eventually settle as. And you can battle the established gyms after as well.

I think it’d be really cool to go to a region that doesn’t have a preexisting league. It’d be interesting to see the region grow and change as the officials create the league and you could meet new people along the way that would eventually become gym leaders/E4. It makes it kind of exciting. I like the idea of going to a region that’s not already set up in the typical fashion we know of. I makes the world feel more unique rather than ever region magically having their own special league. the gym leaders and E4 have to have started from somewhere. Why not show us how it all gets started. Also it would provide us with a different kind of story to adventure through. Honestly the old formula is getting kind of boring and if this makes them have to make up a more creative story I think it could be a lot of fun!
I really hope that this gives an excuse to develop Elite 4 members further than usual. That is my main issue with alot of them.
(also if this is true then the guy with Tapu Koko is totally an E4 member)

Right it would make them flesh out more characters than the typical bunch and that would make the world (Alola) feel more “lived in” than the rest of the regions do. also I think Hala would be more like one of the Island leaders the rumor leaks talk about. so he’d be more of a gym leader than a E4, but I suppose he could be an outlier then
