PJT ’14 – The Games. They Begin.

7 months of planning. 3 months of waiting after sign-ups closed. 40 participants. Three weeks of hardcore battling. This is it. The PokéJungle Tournament of 2014 begins today.

ALL COMPETITORS MUST READ THIS POST FULLY TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE GROUPS STAGE WILL WORK.

Before we begin, the following people still need to confirm their teams before they can take part in any battles. If this is not done ASAP you will be disqualified and your opponents will receive the win. Roksyth, primalwulf, premiertrainer, Miniryu-Ninja, rawbread, Marko XY, AliceXVI, Spetsnaz, simkenno. Please use the form in this post to submit you final teams. If you do not fill this form out we will make attempts to contact you privately soon.

Our tournament is now officially open and all participants who have submitted their teams can begin to battle those in their groups. To do this battles will either need to be arranged privately, or by using Disqus comments. In our comments we will provide each group with a comment thread to post in. Each participant should reply to the comment that corresponds to their group, with their Friend Code and any other relevant information (contact details such as Twitter, for example).

Please remember not to disclose the teams of people you battle. Sharing of battle videos shouldn’t be done until each group has completed the Groups Stage battles, or we say it is acceptable to do so.

Winner/Loser Confirmation

When players have completed a battle we will ask that both parties fill out the form below to announce the winner. As this is anonymous and only staff can view the submissions we will be able to be certain of anyone providing false results. We can ONLY accept results submitted through this form, any other will be ignored. We also recommend you communicate with your opponent about disclosing scores, while we’re happy for participants to openly announce who won or lost, common courtesy is expected – remember to record ALL battle videos!

Once the groups stage battles are complete we will tally up the scores and announce those who have successfully made it through to the elimination rounds. Tie-breaks will need to be carried out if necessary. For confirmation THREE points will be awarded for a win and ONE for a loss. This form will be made present on all future tournament posts over the next two weeks.

No, this isn’t some sort of odd energy drink made from the juices of our participants. We’ve had a lot of updates over the past three months regarding the tournament, so we thought it best to provide a quick set of posts for them to read up on any information they may need.

First off, we’d like to remind all participants that you conduct yourselves with respect. Everyone in this tournament comes from the same PokéJungle Community as you do, and each and every person deserves the same amount of support as everyone else. Chivalry isn’t dead, and your actions should prove thusly.

Battle On!

Our tournament has begun and soon all 40 of our competitors will be fighting it out to find the 2014 PokéJungle Tournament, but the work doesn’t stop there! We’d like to thank every single one of our readers for the support and patience they’ve given us over the past few months, we can’t express how happy we are to have such a great community (even with the little ups and downs) and we hope to see you all for years to come.

On PokéJungle we’ve never really had much of a competitive scene, we’d like to consider changing that. While we can’t confirm any plans or say that something will happen for definite, we can share they’re we’re discussing how we can bring competitive battling to the site. We will continue to hold an annual tournament for all of our readers, but we’re also considering other options and hosting smaller tournaments to give more people the opportunity to take part in a such a huge community event. Stay tuned and we look forward to sharing more details with you as soon as we can.

  3. There’s more news on Mega Diancie!
    – It will be distributed this fall at GameStop.
    – You can only receive it on Pokemon X/Y. When OR/AS releases you could send it to that game if you want to Mega Evolve it.

  8. I usually don’t restart a Main Series Pokemon RPG to do a Nuzlocke Run. But when I do, it’s Black.

    Why? Because ever since I beat it, I couldn’t figure out what the flare I wanted my team to be with my constant switching them out for old gen mon.

    Anyway, it’s going ok so far. My Nicknaming Theme (which is optional) is Marvel.

    Roggenrola (Didn’t nickname because I accidentally pressed “B”, but I’ll later nickname her The Thing, despite her being female)

    I’ll continue this Nuzlocke soon. I’m just taking a break for now.

      I lost Sokka, my Honedge, to Bide D: I didn’t know it hit Ghost-types! D:
      I have replaced it with Nyla, my Skrelp (named after June’s partner, who has poison. Check for that! :D)
      I also lost Ty Lee to another Absol (I swear Calem’s Absol is gonna be the death of me) and it was gonna evolve soon D: Desna, my Amaura, is her replacement. Yue is the only female in my team so far.
      Yue is the same, Jet just evolved into Chesnaught, Amon is Malamar, and Bolin rocks as a Hippowdon.

        I’m really enjoying Black’s Story once again. It’s so wonderful to get a refresher on what I may have missed.
        I never realized how often Cheren and Bianca battle you in Black. It’s really annoying.
        Since you have a Chesnaught now, I’m guessing you have at least four badges already. I’ll soon get my second in due time. 😀

          BW’s story is phenomenal! And yeah, they tend to get annoying. But the EXP is worth it, I guess 😀

          • You’ve got this! Don’t let his Electric Tactics take over the battle (when will Electric Gym Leaders stop using Emolga; besides ORAS Wattson?).
            Out of curiosity, are traded evolutions allowed? If my Roggenrola and Timbur evolve, could I trade them to myself and trade back? Of course, I won’t give myself any items or teach them moves in White 2 because that’s cheating. 😀

          • I got Bolin to wreck him. No worries 😀
            It’s a gray area in Nuzlockes. It’s under the interpretation of the person playing. I’m allowing it because, technically, it’s my Pokemon still, I’m just evolving it.

          • That’s good to hear (your Bolin and Trade Evos being up to the player).
            I read about Trade Evos being in the gray area as well (fantastic sources are fantastic), but wasn’t sure if it depended on the player, or the games.
            The pokemon are technically mine as you said, so I’ll allow it for myself as well.

          • Bolin is very reliable. 😀 I’m learning to hope for more defensive Pokemon. Or fast hitters.
            Cause (luckily my desk is wood, so known on wood!), I know Yue (Azumarill) and Bolin will last awhile…possibly to the end.

  9. About 11 hours until I can fight again. Looking forward to duking it out with the best in the west… I’ll be spending my office breaks Soft-Resetting Zapdos, and when I get a good one I’ll get back to MM of Frokaies.

      • The best I got so far is 31/x/30/31/26-27/31, and I tossed it out due to Hidden Power being Bug. 🙂

        I have a good feeling I’ll have better luck with this Zapdos than Froakie tho (800 and counting). Thanks.

            I read a technique to make testing and going through multiple Zapdos (or any legendary with an announced ability like Pressure or Fairy Aura) faster on Nugget Bridge and wanted to try it.

            I have a fainted Synchronize Timid Espeon in the lead, and Mold Breaker Haxorus with one less speed than Lv70 max speed Zapdos. If Haxorus’ ability is announced first, it’s an instant reset.

          • I had no idea a fainted Synchronizer worked :O And holy cow O_O That’s an awesome way of not having to waste catching it!

          • Yeah! The lead’s abilities with field effects still work while fainted (even other stuff like Suction Cups or Compound Eyes), but the second Pokemon will get sent out.

            The specific-speed Pokemon w/ ability truly saves time by not catching it. Imagine trying to do this for Xerneas/Yveltal (who fortunately don’t usually run Hidden Power in their sets), you would save all the time after catching the legend and having to select a party member to go in the box and having to talk to Lysandre and start his battle to check stats.

            Also, another tip: I traded a different Zapdos to this game first so I don’t have to stare at the Pokedex entry every time I wanted to check its stats.

    For older games, the “-1 speed” technique can be applied to any legend that has an announced ability (Fairy Aura, Dark Aura, Aura Break, Pressure). For ORAS in the future though, I expect to bring a “-1 speed” weather inducer that has a different weather to Groudon/Kyogre (probably T-Tar).

  12. And so, I leave to go back home from Orlando tomorrow. :((((
    Tomorrow is indeed my 1 year PJN anniversary, so I do need to think of something doable in memory of that. I would’ve liked to do something like Wonder Trade 365 Dedennes, but I don’t have the time nor the patience to do so (hell, I waited for the Gringotts ride for 7 hours, every molecule of patience in me is LONG gone).

    The plan when I get home is to do a Top 5/Top 10 of my experiences, MAYBE upload a haul video to my long-in-hiatus YouTube Channel, and catch up on site news and stuff.

    For those wondering, I did have to drop out of the PJT due to the Poke Games, which NEWS FLASH, are being moved to Labor Day, and also because my schedule, for the month of August particularly, isn’t looking too nice in terms of spare time. 🙂

    I have a 5 hour flight to prepare for, so I’m gonna get some sleep now.

  22. WTd a while box of Timid Natural Gift/Dbreath/Synthesis/Leech Seed Treekos and the only valuable Pokemom I got was a Naive Absol with SPunch/BP/PlayRough/Megahorn in a Moon Ball I believe
