It’s no lie that we’ve been working towards launching our tournament for a while now. We’ve carefully considered formats and rules to make the best experience we could and we’ve made several changes over the last few months to get the tournament to exactly how we want it. However, we’ve decided to make some fairly substantial last minute changes.
Groups Stage Changes
Last week we announced the listings for each individual group within the tournament. these groups each contain 5 people who will all battle one another in an attempt to gain the most points and proceed to the elimination round. Alongside these group listings we announced the dates slots each group would need to compete in order to have their scores counted.
We realised it was perhaps a little unfair that some competitors would have longer to work on their teams as their group didn’t need to compete until later in the month. As such, we’ve now decided that all groups will battle in the same period. From July 24 until August 7 every competitor in each group much complete all necessary battles to have their points count. A reminder of your group can be found below.

Team Submissions
We’ve always known that we would require all participants to submit their teams before competing. Now is the time to do that. Below is a form asking participants to submit details of their team before competing. It’s important all competitors do this before beginning battles so we can store the information and us it should any disagreements or claims of cheating occur. No one other than selected staff members has access to this information.
Submissions for teams must be submitted by the 24th of July CST. The tournament will officially start later that day, or earlier if all competitors submit before the soft deadline. Any delays in submitting your team will simply mean you lose the maximum amount of time to compete you battles within.
Rules
As one more reminder to our readers, the rules for the tournament can be found below. Failure to follow these rules will result in disqualification. Disqualification will also occur if we find any competitors actively being deceitful or lying to others, cheating in any way, deliberate disconnecting or any other nefarious behaviour – including in the site comments and chat. Rules breakers will lose the match and will be disqualified completely.
Pokémon
When choosing Pokémon to take part in the PokéJungle Tournament, it’s important they all conform to our rules for entry, as seen below.
- All Pokémon must be legitimately obtainable in Pokémon X & Y. We are allowing transferring of Pokémon from older games through Poké Transporter
- The following Pokémon are banned: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion. Mega Latias and Mega Latios are also banned.
- Species Clause: No two Pokémon can share the same Pokédex number
- Two or more Pokémon cannot have the same nickname in a team
- Pokémon cannot be nicknamed using the name of another Pokémon. (For example naming a Sewaddle “Snover”)
- Pokémon able to Mega Evolve are allowed to do so
- Any Pokémon used by players that are above Level 50 will be lowered to Level 50. Pokémon below Level 50 will be raised to Level 50.
- Players will be required to use 6 Pokémon throughout the tournament. These Pokémon will remain the same through the entire tournament and cannot be changed.
General
- All matches will be played in the Singles, 6 VS. 6 format
- Item Clause: No two Pokémon can hold the same held item
- Your Pokémon team must remain the same through the entirety of the tournament. No changes are allowed unless we state otherwise
- An intentional disconnection from the battle will result in an automatic forfeit

if you’re lvl 25, you’re going to remain 25. You have to bring them to 50 or higher. (Higher than 50 gets dropped back down to 50)
But they can’t do that. In WiFi battles all Pokemon are either set at lvl 50 regardless of whether they are above or below 50 in game

The Poke Games signups end at the end of the month. We currently have 7 open spots. If those spots are not filled, the Poke Games will be rescheduled to Labor Day, and I will have to ask Maple to host instead of me. If that doesn’t work out either, well, I dunno what to do.

Don’t radar chain. Ever. It’s more frustrating than rewarding. Try using the Friend Safari or breeding.

I saw some confusion down below, so I’ll elaborate. The format for this battle will be Normal rules, because that is the only way one can do a 6v6 in the game. In Normal rules, all pokemon are auto-level 50. doesn’t matter if they’re level 1 or 49, they are level 50 for the battle(sorry if any of you wanted to use level 1 pokes).

I can say that a bunch of the banned Pokemon are Psychic types, so all Psychic types should be banned.
The whole reason they are called legends is because they are one of a kind or have a rich backstory surrounding them. Nothing to do with Power Level in my opinion, other than the obvious 670+ BST ones, which are Blatantly overpowered.
The thing is though… those Pokemon such as Landorus and the Latis are just as strong as Pseudos, and those aren’t banned.
Yeah, for now our rules are set. This is our biggest tournament ever and though you guys don’t see much of it me and NL (and the other staff from time to time) spend ages discussing every silly little detail.
We’re hoping that if things go well we can start hosting other tournaments, perhaps smaller ones every so often and a yearly one like this.
It’s good to see support from both sides. Knowing you’re happy to play by the rules we set is good, but knowing people would like legends is good too!

Then there is things like hazard control and cleric support. And certain strategies to counter other strategies. 6 Pokemon is not enough
Am I the only person with no cleric?? I have my clefable but it doesn’t have aromatherapy it has flamethrower moonblast wish and calm mind (going to switch it back to protect) with life orb XD
I actually like that set a lot better than the Cleric one, but I feel my team is going to need a Cleric in this tournament, because I know how much status will be flying around. Plus I have more physical attackers, and it may not always be easy to predict the burns.

But that’s the thing it’s not just that good. Nintendo is the only competitive handheld maker out there right now. It’s not that they couldn’t do better, it’s that they don’t have to. Which is y I’m sad that the PS Vita isn’t being handled properly bc it’s much much better than the 3ds. The only thing wrong is that Sony isn’t doing a good job getting games to it.

Because that’s hard to get. When a game company goes out of their way to try and get better “next-gen” graphic, they often ignore other qualities. For example, the reason why the 3DS is more successful than the PSVita is because the PSVita focused too much on engine power and lack a library of good games, while the 3DS is not as powerful, it has a great library of good games to choose from.
It’s not hard tho……….It’s just a smaller console….. Nintendo is a huge company, r u saying they wouldn’t be able to make an hd handheld while releasing quality games?
I’m not saying they’re incapable, I’m saying it’s impractical. Nintendo is very successful with the 3DS with the way they handled thing so far. HD on a handheld, while it is desirable, will cost more than it’s worth, for both the company to produce and the consumer to purchase.
That’s the thing tho think about the original cost of both the Vita and the 3DS…….Both were 250. They both had price drops, but the 3ds (which is the lesser of the 2 in terms of hardware) cost the same as the better handheld so what really helps the consumer? at least in the initial launches that is.

So my Dad’s uncle works for Gamefreak and, for my twenty first birthday, leaked to me some information in regards to the Gen 4 remakes that are currently in development. Naturally I threw up my proxies and need to share this information with /vp/ first
What I know so far
The names are going to be “Solar Diamond” and “Lunar Pearl” a spin off the primary themes of the game, Arceus awakening and blending night into day
The game takes place after the events of X and Y, where the mere charging of the ultimate weapon convinced Arceus to purge the Sinnoh region, so that it’s own weapon could never be utilized. The player must scrounge together the few remaining members of team Galactic and ally with either Primal Dialga or Palkia to stop the impending destruction.
The team of this game is Team Galactic, now reformed under the leadership of a man named “Oram” as a group dedicated to preventing the legendary disasters seen in the Hoenn, Kalos and their own regions. They believe that it is not humans or pokemon that cause the worlds problems, but rather the governing of Legendaries and their extraordinary power.
Many older pokemon are receiving new forms or megaevolutions, including Staraptor, Luxray, all of the gen 4 starters, Tentacruel, Hitmonchan and lee, Weavile, Spirtomb, and Bronzong, Primal forms for both Dialga and Palkia, and an “Original Form” for Arceus, this being the form you fight him in.

Can’t be crappy IV because I have 2 6IV parents. I used a Poison Point Nido before, it works wonder.
IVs affect the chance of being shiny.

Yes. The higher the IV, the lower the chance of getting a shiny. That’s why it is extremely difficult to get one with good IVs.
When was this figured?
Something we been thinking about for a while. It took me days to hatch shiny zorua using 6iv zorua and 6iv ditto, then if I’m using a 0iv pokemon with a 6iv ditto I end up hatching a shiny in the first batch XD
While it hasn’t been proven, I second this theory garret.
Given that it took me 5 days to hatch a 5iv shiny cherrim, but when I was beginning to IV breed for a tangela I hatched two shiny tangela’s in a span of about 12 eggs, one 2iv, and one 5iv.
I’ve IV bred 5 and 6 IV parents for the Masuda Method and either ended up with nothing or a Pokemon with really bad stats. Like my Aromatisse. When I was using the method, I got Spritzee quickly with parents that had poor IVs. Same with my Shroomish and Oshawott.

Massive clean? How many boxes did you use up in the Bank?
I have like 3 boxes of XY events, 3 boxes of shinies that I hatched myself, 6 boxes of battle ready pokes, and 2 boxes of random shinies that I traded for. It looks much organized now.

My personal expections and what is likely going to happen with 5 unoccupied slots on the Japanese ORAS website.

That’s unlikely. I’m not saying that they won’t be in the game. I’m saying that they won’t be revealed until later IF they’re in the game. The two Eons are there because they were already leaked and the Diancie event is coming up. These are two hoenn pokemon, I’d expect them to be revealed before launch through an X and Y event.
The thing is, those question marks are false advertising. The previous list was just Groudon, Kyogre, Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, with 6 question mark spaces. Then suddenly all those spots were filled with the starters and their Megas. And then Diancie and Sableye. And still 6 question mark spaces.
However, that was earlier on. The chart will only continue expanding, to be filled with all the ORAS megas when the game comes out. However, it’s to be expected that there are at least 5 more, likely being the ones I listed included that will be revealed next month during corocoro.

I personally think Luna & sol have a higher chance.
People seem to think Zangoose & Seviper are counterparts when they’re actually mortal enemies. Enemies & Counterparts are different. Wheres Gyarados & Milotic have same stats but rearranged, Seviper & Zang are completely different.

They should make that a feature in ORAS. “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature!” I wouldn’t complain, Chance of that happening is twice as rare as shiny, so ShinyXatu can be happy.
I still want to see a Pokemon Ranger on the Wii U. Seeing what they did with Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, it would be amazing. Or Mystery Dungeon…we need a new Mystery Dungeon. Or a new DRAWN TO LIFE! The music in that game is amazing…*continues rambling*

So today is indeed the starting date for PJT. Don’t go on battling yet though, we still have some steps to take beforehand.
