Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Trailer and Details

Nintendo’s Digital E3 was broadcast earlier today and with it the company has shared a handful of details relating to new Pokémon games. Below you can find our coverage of the news, expect more throughout the day with in depth coverage just around the corner!

Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

And full trailer has been shown for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, showing Hoenn completely remade with 3D environments. Launching worldwide on November 21 in the US and November 28 in Europe!

In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Kyogre and Groudon are able undergo a process known as Primal Reversion. This allows the two Pokémon to revert into Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon, and allows them to draw back power from nature and gain an even larger power boost. When undergoing Primal Reversion, Kyogre receives a boost to its Special Attack stat whilst Groudon become Ground/Fire type and gains a boosted Attack stat. Both Pokémon also seem to gain a boost to their abilities, although it’s not possible to confirm this yet.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will bring players even closer to discovering the secrets behind Mega Evolution, with players seeking out Pokémon capable of Mega Evolving and unlocking their incredible potential. More Mega Stones are said to be hidden across the Hoenn region. It also appears that there may be a link between Mega Evolution and Primal Reversion.

Below are a selection of screenshots and artwork showing the updated Hoenn region and the two legendary Pokémon undergoing Primal Reversion.

  1. Here are some Mega’s shown on the japanese ORAS site. Notice how all of them have a brownish/yellowish border except for the Mega Mewtwos…
Omega Mewtwo (red border, also may correspond to Y) and Alpha Mewtwo confirmed (blue border, may correspond to X)…?

  2. -Mega Milotic Milotite – Water/Fairy – Serene Grace (instaBurns from Scald, confusions from Water Pulse)

-Mega Torkoal Torkoalite – Fire – Contrary (shell smash makes its defenses +2, Overheat makes its sp. atk +2, could be a good stall with Toxic / Protect / and add Morning Sun to its movepool for recovery)

-Mega Altaria Altarianite – Dragon/Fairy – Fur Coat

-Mega Tropius Tropiusite – Grass/Flying – Thick Fat (patch up that 4x ice weakness)

-Mega Wailord Wailordinite – Water – Huge Power

-Mega Metagross Metagrossite – Steel – Iron Fist (loses its Psychic type, just like how Aggron lost its rock type, and gains Iron Fist. Boosting the power of thunderpunch, bullet punch, ice punch, meteor mash)

Mega Salamence Salamencite – Dragon/Flying – Tough Claws

And then I’d like to see Prehistoric Devolutions for:

    -Ancient/Primal Regice – Ice – Refridgerate

    -Ancient/Primal Regirock – Rock – Bulletproof

    -Ancient/Primal Registeel – Steel – Analytic

    -Ancient/Primal Relicanth – ??? – ??? (couldn’t think of type/ability)

-Ancient/Primal Aerodactyl – (it’s actually the mega aerodactyl but got a retconned ‘name change’)

    • Dialga had a Primal before Kyogre and Groudon did. Expect Primal Dialga in the future. If Dialga has one, Palkia could have one as well. So, that’s 4 Primals to expect in the near future. Plus the other 4 open slots on the Japanese website = 2 Pokemon.

      • Actually Primal Dialga from the future might make sense since he controls time and all and may have altered himself to be restored in the future

        • It would make sense. Our minimum is 6 Primals.

Of the two open slots, we could get Primal Rayquaza and Primal Deoxysi? Maybe? Idunno. That’s IF it’s limited to legendaries. I’m going to assume that it’s not only lmited to legendaries and we could get Primal Cradily and Armaldo instead of Rayquaza and something else.

  4. Do you guys think we’ll get more smash bros newcomers at e3 this year? If so, how many? I think we’ll get just one more, at the roundtable tonight.

  5. Okay so if you compare the old hoenn map to the new one i believe there to be 12 obvious differences (there may be more but this is upon first glance)

    (REFRESH FOR IMAGE)

    1) This is not as blatantly seen on the original map but it is likely to be the island cave.
    2) What appears to be an extension of Rusturf Tunnel that joins it to Mt Chimney is seen that is not in the original map..either that or it’s a new cave.
    3) This island is kinda there on the original map but is not highlighted as much- it is possible this is Southern Island.
    4) This is blatant GF tactics in order to hide something. There is nothing south of the sealed chamber in the original RSE so this is new…possibly something to do with Regigigas. Maybe a large extension of the sealed chamber?
    5) ??????? Not a clue…at first i thought it was maybe a new base for Magma/Aqua since it is fairly close to where the old one is but upon inspection the old one is still there. Only time will tell with this one… but i will say it looks like clouds are still partially distorting the image and hiding some of it.
    6) Okay so this is Mossdeep Space Centre but look at that GIANT rocket sticking out of it… surely we get to go moonwalking, right??
    7) This is another area north of Sootopolis with a similar shape… is it possible that the Cave of Origin has moved to become its own area accessible only by diving underwater similar to Sootopolis City or is it something else entirely?
    8) This looks like roughly where the Undersea Cavern is so it may just be that but only highlighted more in the new map but who knows?
    9) Sky Pillar obviously but the fact it has been hidden from view suggests there may be some new features added to it or more still to be revealed about a certain Green Dragon.
    10) This island does appear in the old map but if you look closely there appears to be a cave opening this time around. Maybe home to a legendary from another region similar to Embedded Tower and Navel Rock?
    11) Battle Frontier! No doubt about it- The battle tower makes no appearance in this new map and that is a large amount of clouds to hide a small island so Battle Frontier is most certainly there.
    12) The water area here seems to be more open plan..in fact if you look around at the whole map it seems that a lot of the water routes are less disjointed. It’s possible we may have a little more free roaming of the water routes in ORAS.

As i said upon further inspection with a magnifying glass ^^ there are likely to be more things that are different but this is what i found upon first inspection- what do you guys think?

      • I might be the only one, but I never liked the Battle Frontier. There I said it. I just found it to be a pain in the ass and didn’t find it fun. lol

        • Off with you head!!! Lol jokes, i admit it was sooo hard back when i was 9 and had no clue what EV’s, stats or anything was but i think it will be much better this time around with all the new mechanics ^^

    • Regarding #2, i think that was a route you could go down to Lavaridge town from Mt. Chimney, i remember you could find spoink there..

      • You mean the jagged pass. Yes i though so too bit if it is it is now a cave. If you look at the original map the Jagged Pass was open but now it is entirely closed off. BUt i agree it is most likely an updated Jagged Pass. Nice catch.

          • Ben Drowned. 😮

I actually haven’t played it either. The remakes were alluded to in A Link Between Worlds by Majora’s Mask on the wall of Link’s home. The closest i got to playing it was on an emulator but i took interest in other games.
