Scans are surfacing of the latest CoroCoro issue and it’s a doozy! Mega Evolutions of Sceptile, Swampert, and Diancie have all been revealed along with other misc information 🙂
Details
Pokémon
- Mega Sceptile is Grass/Dragon with the ability Lightning Rod
- Mega Swampert’s ability is Swift Swim
- Mega Diancie’s ability has yet to be revealed
- Groudon and Kyogre’s new forms can be translated to either Primeval or Prehistoric. These forms appear to come from “nature’s energy”.
- The subtext for Groudon and Kyogre suggests new moves.
Characters
- New character art for Brendan and May
- Steven returns and is researching Mega Evolution
- Archie and Maxie are still leading Team Aqua and Team Magma respectively. Their Admins also return. All have received redesigned character art.
- Players will still have access to the Acro and Mach bikes (whoo! mach4life)
- Brendan and May will use the new ‘Mega Bangle‘ that will be used for Mega Evolutions in battle

Didn’t game freak said they watch the national finals and input things in the pokemon game to balance it out? (i.e. Fairy to balance out dragon) So maybe mega Sceptile is game freak way of balancing out Rotom wash since it’s one of the most used pokemon

I’ve never seen Morimoto say that, but they’re always there for the WCS and I wouldn’t be surprised.
I remember reading something talking about how there always at the WCS and see so many dragon types. And that’s why they added fairy to balance it out. I may be wrong though

m. charizard does not have rock or steel type, so I doubt it.
Well, he has 2 rings on his fingers, so he COULD equip them with 2 mega stones. 😮 And switch between the two.

No. There’s an EXP bar in the picture. You don’t see an opposing Pokemon’s EXP bar in any game. So it either belongs to the player or is involved in a demonstration.
Really? I only see the HP bar part, but not the EXP one. Usually it would be a line of blue.
Go to serebii and click on the picture. You can zoom in.
Right next to the green bar looks like it says “EXP” I could be wrong.
I zoomed in and it looks more like HP rather than EXP.

The caption says “He’s looking for the secrets[of mega evolution] as well…” Corocoro could just be using charizard X as a reference. Besides, why would anyone in the game have a Lv.100, and even if they did,why would they show us this before release?

Do note that Kyogre and Groudon are also Lv. 100. Those are placeholders.
It is his but there’s no reason to assume that it would be his main Pokemon. Especially considering, y’know, he’s a Steel specialist.
If he were to simulate a trainer battle with you, and teach you about Mega Evolution, why would he spoil his main Pokemon? It makes sense to use the Pokemon that’s essentially the Mega mascot now.

Brendan is damned awful. Easily the worst male trainer design. His original one/s was/were pretty damned good.
He looks WAAAAYYY better in the games than the art in corocoro.

The only change is they removed the second pants he was wearing, which was the dumbest thing ever.
The only other changes to his design:
-His polo is button up now, like how it appears in Ruby instead of Emerald
-His face looks different, because it’s been twelve years and the art style has drastically changed in the time since. Grey eyes for character customization.

So what you’re saying is, even though the design itself is near identical, you’re taking umbrage with, what? The fact he drew it again? That he can’t afford a time capsule to ask 12 years ago Sugi to do it instead?
I’m hardly irritated by the fact. I just don’t like it, as simple as that. Whether it’s down to a complete design change or a style change makes no difference. If I think the design is bad, I think the design is bad.
This isn’t a “your opinion is wrong” deal. I’m not saying you’re not entitled to your opinions, I’m just saying you’re making very little sense.
Little has changed in the design. The only way to fix what you have now specified as what makes it “easily the worst male trainer design” is time travel, meaning your expectation is unrealistic. Meaning the design was doomed to fail no matter what.
Yeah I’ll admit Brendan and May’s new outfits are a bit lackluster.
On the potential bright side, they keep clothing customization? Fingers crossed.
