In a surprising bit of news, it has come to light that Nintendo trademarked デルタエメラル (Delta Emerald) in Japan. This is most likely just to cover their bases and make sure the name is reserved because of its similarity to the announced Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes coming to the Nintendo 3DS in November 2014. Other Pokémon-themed names have been trademarked before and Nintendo has also purchased a range of .com domain names for games that would never actually exist. Don’t get your hopes up 😉 This was discovered by a 2ch user and the thread can be viewed on Hachima Kikou.
Even so, this is sure to draw some speculation from the fandom at large 😉

:DD Always preferred Emerald’s story and fighting two teams, so this is great news if it turns out to be a future game. Makes me wonder why they would release ORAS as well as Delta Emerald instead of just Delta Emerald. I think this would be the first time this has happened. Perhaps it’s a sequel?
This somewhat proves that it will be forms not Mega’s for kyogre/groudon, mainly because if it’s a third version there is added features and you can’t really add in Mega’s (x and y has R1,2 and 3 mega stones hidden in the coding as well as the latis) which could mean they are forms(I really hope so I want to keep my alpha kyogre like that way)

I’m sorry but forms would be a step back for the series, coming off the heels of a new mechanic. They’re mega’s. Succumb to it.
If anything, if Rayquaza does end up getting his own game it’d be to give him his own mega.

This is weird. I don’t think they would make a third remake, yet Gamefreak might surprise us…
But why would they only trademark DELTA Emerald?
There are PLENTY of things to consider:
-In 2009, Pokemon Black, White, Grey, Brown, & Purple were all trademarked. Did we ever see the ladder three? Nope.
-“Delta Emerald” doesn’t have the same connotation as Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. Omega means Ending, Alpha means beginning, there is no greek character for “Middle”.
-IF, and I say IF… this game does end up really happening, it could possibly combine the events of ORAS and XY, and consolidate them to one big final game? Delta represents a triangle. Here is what it denotes in Mathematics, looks like it could relate to XY:

Delta kind of means “change”. In that equation, it just says “change in y” divided by “change in x”.

Omega is upper case in Groudon, but Alpha is lower case in Kyogre. I have no idea which case Delta will be.

Exactly. I don’t see it getting released. And if it does, will definitely under go a title change to “Infinite Emerald”. Delta Emerald literally makes no sense, but that was the most common fan suggested name. I actually quite remember like 5 people here guessing DeltaEmerald or SigmaEmerald, and a few over at Gamefaqs, but Delta & Sigma literally have no signifance or meaning and don’t correlate with “Beginning & End”. Infinite Emerald would actually make sense.
I think they registered it because it was a common suggested name and they didn’t want anyone running off with a fake game with this title.

Well this is a curve ball….. does this imply ORAS has no battle frontier? That would be a HUGE disappointment for me. 90% of the reason I like emerald is battle frontier.
Well the camper in XY did say that we will see a fronteir at some point during 6th gen. Might not be in Hoenn but we will see one before the gen is over.
You know what this means? Probably nothing. But if it does come out, I’ll buy it to complete the gen 3 3DS collection.

If Delta Emerald DOES happen, it could be some kind of combo of emerald and continuation of X and Y. Like the sequel to X and Y taking place in Hoenn or some kind of island in between and have rayquaza involved. STRANGE SOUVENIR TIME!

I think Delta Emerald is just a placeholder name that only exists for copyright reasons. We don’t want anybody creating their own fanmade game and calling it Delta Emerald now do we?

Steven will be the champion when you first battle him in the League. However, after beating the game, Wallace will be the new Champion and Steven will be the Super Boss in that one cave.

I’m predicting Wallace will be the 8th Gym Leader and Steven will be the Champion. And after beating the game I predict Wallace to then become the Champion for all future visits to the Elite 4, Steven becomes the Super Boss, and when you re-match Gym Leaders, Juan takes Wallace’s place.

I don’t want another remake of Kanto. There’s quite literally no memorable landmarks there. And we already did the cool stuff from 1st Gen inside of XY already:
-We chose our Kanto starters
-We caught Mewtwo post game
-We caught 3 legendary birds post game
-We caught Snorlax blocking the road & woke it up with flute
-Santalune Forest has the same structure as Viridian Forest.
-We got a Trivia Gym in Lumiose.
-Can pretty much catch about 140 of the 151 Pokemon in XY. I don’t see a point on Kanto again.
