Lunatone is just a worse Solrock! 🙂
I hope they both get Rock/Fairy mega evolutions. They both can already learn Moon Blast.

and by the way Lunatone is not a worse Solrock. They’re both pretty much the same. It’s just Lunatone is the special variant, and Solrock is the physical.
That is part of the problem though. Lunatone don’t get Power Gem or Ancient Power (forcing it to use HP Rock). Solrock doesn’t get Zen Headbutt. However, Psychic has worse type coverage than Rock. So people went ahead and picked Xatu if they want a special attacking Psychic type in NU… this is how it went, I guess.
EDIT: I was looking at Gen 5’s moveset. Moonblast on Lunatone changes a lot. Heh heh heh.
I actually just traded for a Lunatone with Ancient Power. It’s a gen 3 move tutor move lol. Now time to move tutor Moon Blast XD

I’m not that familiar with NU, but it might work… though Shell Smash Gorebyss is kind of popular (I heard) and will one-shot it after Shell Smash… with Thunderbolt failing to one-shot Gorebyss with no s.defense drop (it usually carries White Herb).
Hyper Beam is also kinda meh, it might destroy a Pokemon but there’ll be set up for the Pokemon that comes in (and it’s probably Gorebyss).
With so many weaknesses, I wouldn’t really use it as a wall, but a trick room sweeper. And even that isn’t too good with only 99 base Sp.Attack
Thanks! You bring up some very good points. It’s a pity Aurorus’s typing gives it so many weaknesses. It’s got really tanky stats & a cool ability (if it only learns Body Slam…). This could still work for Inverse battles though, right?
