The June issue of Japanese comic magazine CoroCoro (which is published in May) has begun leaking and the new Ruby and Sapphire remakes are featured.

- The first scan simply introduces Groudon and Kyogre and the caption points out that they look different than the art on the packages

To keep everything in prospective. We JUST learned about the remakes last week. So things are going to be slow. And i don’t mind that. Especially since next month** is E3.
As far as up to date coverage on it, im more lenient with remakes cause its something we are familiar with but at the same time we are going to be happy to experience advances and new things that they can give us. So that we don’t know every single thing that can happen just cause we played the originals.
I’m excited 😀 As far as announcing goes, we are getting this game sooner then we got XY when it was first announced. Even it it doesn’t come out til November.

I believe I heard somewhere that some kind of previews of the games were going to be playable at E3. If so, we may be getting information regarding the visually aspects of the game very soon.
I believe its mainly Smash Bros that is getting some playable time but if pokemon is there then the better it will be 😀

Most definitely. Since Nintendo is doing only online again this year they are going to need some high points. And ORAS is always a safe bet to get people on Nintendo’s side. Probably won’t get too much but i think it will wet our appetites till the next look into it.

instead of replying twice, i will cover you both. Gamefreak has followed a precise pattern so far: RBY remakes on AGB, GSC remakes on NDS, and now RSE remakes on 3DS. it would be fairly feasable to concider that a sinnoh remake is not going to appear on the 3ds, and even if it does, it will not be any time within the near future. Claiming such just makes you look like ignorant fools. Dont get me wrong, i loved RSE. i loved DPPLT. but despite wanting the remakes myslef, i refuse to sit there and drive other people nuts and make a fool out of myself, simply because a new remake has surfaced. Fanboys and Haters give me a severe headache.

Yay more disappointment… Just like the Coro Coro after the X & Y announcements. I really have lost the hype now. You would think more gameplay would have been shown in the reveal trailer. I mean, only showing us the boxart? Even X & Y had a longer reveal trailer with actual footage. I’m starting to feel like they started these games in April / May which is why they haven’t used music or shown a long trailer yet.
The games were just announced a few days ago, I didn’t expect much anyways from CoroCoro. Not gonna lie, a screenshot or two would’ve been nice but hey, we got some footage and I’m happy with just that. 😛 And my hype still hasn’t died :3

They’re obviously keeping this hush hush for E3, which is a smart ideal. What I can’t handle is the consent whining from the fan base. These games were announced a week ago, A WEEK!!! I get that everyone’s hyped and want to know more about these, but jeez, try some patience.
Guilty D: I’m just sad because we haven’t been given anything good to work with at all. Because you can watch that boxart trailer so many times and it’s so interesting! And so is the sneak peek shown yesterday with the weird sound effect; not even music.
It was announced a week ago. Give it a chance, lol.

I’m just happy that I’ll pretty much spend my first year of Uni playing pokemon
I remember BW having a much better steady release of information than XY. At the very least, we got to see the starters’ final evolutions before the games were released for gen 5.
I can totally understand wanting to wait to reveal information, but I just hope we get it in more steady intervals than we did for XY.

to be honest I don’t really care for this 4k craze that’s been happening lately, no point for it when the actual video quality that’s being recorded is in hd or even standard def so adding a 4k defeats the purpose to me, most video recordings aren’t up to it yet and to me just makes things look worse
is it just me or they keep making that same statement of how groudon and kyogre looks different in the art box? I’m guessing it might be important in the main storyline? haha i can’t wait :B
A couple of things I noticed.
Firstly both Kyogre and Groudon are rising from the see indicating that they both reside in Seafloor Cavern, similar to the original Ruby and Sapphire, meaning the Magma Hideout in Mt. Chimney from Emerald may possible not be making a return.
Also they both come out from the same place in sea, meaning it may be possible that they won’t both be awakened at the same time, so no conflict, and no Rayquaza cut-scene.
Of course it was mentioned that the footage is not final so there is still hope.
I really hope not and they’re just part of the title screens I much preferred how events unfolded in Emerald
Me too. I just prefer how the story fitted more with the myth behind the legends. The whole point is that they fight each other and Rayquaza stops them.
Well I have been thinking about this over the last couple of days. We all know you need Powersaves to access the Mega Stones for both Latias and Latios but you can’t trade the items over to another person. In my opinion, that is because they are coded in X & Y but you will actually get the stones in OmegaRuby & AlphaSaphire and then you can trade over to X & Y or we will get some kind of event and they are going to gives us Latias and Latios holding the respective Mega Stone.
But if my first prediction is true that means that Groudon and Kyogre will not get Mega Evolutions because if the Gen VI games are interchangeable and there are no Mega Evolutions for Groudon and Kyogre, I believe that they will get new forms!
Or maybe, because the images from the boxart aren’t much different from the Pokémon, they may have like a stronger version with the Orbs as items, like the Orbs for the Creation Trio.
They could use forced patches like they always do where you have to update to connect to the internet. Some people say “Hey! Not everyone has internet!” How many Mcdonald’s are out there in the world? Mcdonald’s gives out Wi-Fi.
That’s kinda what I think. I think when the Red/blue orb is used in Groudon/Kyogre, it will transform into the omega/alpha orb and fuse with/equip to Groudon/Kyogre to create omega Groudon/alpha Kyogre. As for latios and latias, I think it will be similar to suicune in hgss: we will have random encounters with it in the overworld during the game, and then some time in the post game, you will encounter and battle it. Then Steven Stone will come out and be like “so you just caught lati@s? Impressive! I think this stone might have some connection with it. Here, you should have it!” Then he gives you the mega stone and then asks you to battle him. And of course you would have the option to put lati@s in your party upon capture for said battle.
Well at least now I’m not in a hypehype mood like yesterday and I can get some revision done! 😮

People get annoyed when others complain but it’s pretty justified. We don’t need THIS much confirmation that the game exists and that kyogre and groudon are in it. We get it. All I wanted was AT LEAST a few screens. X and Y gave us an actual trailer when it was announced.

now this may sounds harsh so forgive me, but as a pokemon fan you should know by now how they advertise they stuff by now, this was the exact same thing they did with hgss, only showed a little bit of the character on a route then it was over, so I am afraid you only have yourself to blame for pushing the hype level to a 100 (granted gamefreak gave you a reason to do so) should kept the hype to middle to low level, the games were just announce 3 days ago worldwide, if that trailer didn’t come out, japan would have been getting the info only(they at times like to pretend no outsiders are watching their stuff so its only for they viewers who live there and they still do that regardless when something is actually announce all over the world) and it would been exactly the same as the previous trailer, but this is world wide release so everybody has to get something that’s slightly fair. Now what you think is a sneak peak is all subjective and that can be discuss somewhere else, but to me its always better to keep hype to low, especially when a franchise has been known to do this constantly, again I feel this is people fault for expecting too much

It’s cool and all. But it was not really worth waiting an hour and watching an odd japanese man get bathed by a child for. As i said before, when X and Y were announced we got a full on direct. World wide. They could have given us just a few seconds of the overworld with the trainer or some images from the beginning of the game.

That preview showcased the music, the town in superior graphics, the rival, the fact that you can walk with pokemon and the protagonist. Our preview showcased that Groudon and Kyogre were going to be in the game.
I think the point to that was to make people go hey why do groudon and kyogre look so different on the box art then in gameplay hence they kept questioning during the show. I know its dum to keep going over there looks like we don’t get it already, but they doing it for a reason I suppose, those two were the main focus, for hgss it was different I suppose, I also remember people being pretty tick off just showing this little clip of them walking in newbark town and nothing else, what no lugia or hooh so disappointed whats the point when I spend half the time just watching Japanese people running around falling acting silly, something around those lines lol
I mean, i get that Pokemon Get TV is a kid show but i’m sure they don’t expect kids to be content with this either. o_o The reason for them going over the looks again is to hint to the children, however, they really underestimate the knowledge of children.

Yeah, they didn’t show us much after X and Y came out, BUT, X and Y had a proper trailer.
Most likely as it was an entire new region and they had much more to announce and show us before launch. This time around it is a remake and tbh had they done a HGSS and showed us the player walking around in Littleroot town people would have still been annoyed as it wasn’t enough lol…least this way we know a proper update is coming next month which im sure will more than satisfy our need for hype.
What really irks people is that we haven’t seen the overworld, protags or battles yet. Had they shown the trainer walking around in littleroot, people would have been much more content. They could have showed the trainer walking around with different skin tones. This would confirm the return of customization, showcase the trainers and it would show off littleroot in 3D.
The fact is that those features MAY NOT be returning…unlikely but entirely possible (please arceus i hope they are). Also they obviously DID NOT want to showcase any of that stuff as they obviously feel they want to spread what reveals they do have over a longer period…remember that because these are remakes they don’t have new pokemon to showcase (maybe some new Mega’s) so really all they can do is show us updated character designs and graphics updates which if they show us right off the bat gives them very little to showcase as the games get closer. I mean i get that people are disappointed (i am a little too) but imagine how disappointed you would be if they showed us loads of stuff now and by August had ran out of stuff to show us leaving us agonising for 3 months with no new info… or on the flipside if they showed us everything and by the time the game came out there were no surprises.

funny, as i never recalled a “proper trailer” for x/y 3 days after its announcement. I think anyone complaining that its not enough is quite ignorant. I hope they are the ones who cannot afford to get the game for 6 months after release like i was when i pulled the same for x/y. While i am eagerly awating this game, it is not much different than waiting for my birthday (both are in november ;P). since it is a remake, i really am not as eager as i was for x/y because i played emerald a hundred times now, and working on it yet again. It was the same for hg/ss. Dont get me wrong, Rayquaza FTW, Groudon FTW, but no reason to be extremely impatient. I am sure this time the patience will be very well rewarded.

I’m super excited for the gameplay, storyline and other features, but I’m MOST excited for the music, (Ive always been really fascinated with remade music eg.hg/ss and reorchestrated/remixed pokemon themes online) and I’m also excited for how the overworld sprites are going to look and such. Honestly, I love how the cities are now 3d, but I think that the overworld x and y trainers were a bit odd, I prefered the bw2/w2 overworld sprites, but then that wouldn’t match with the 3d graphics :/ what do you guys think?

Entirely. It got a new UI for the touch screen and gyro controls, as well as the 3D functionality. But the story elements are identical.

I think there will be some new mega evolutions, further on I don’t know what to expect more as in new features, expect those we’ve got since X & Y
I feel like either Mega Sceptile should be Grass/Dark (because of mystery dungeon and the move pursuit) or Mega Swampert should be Water/Dark (because it’s a swamp creature) could also be Water/Grass which would be odd. It would have sap sipper and it would have something such as moss or vines incorporated into it’s design.

They HAVE to give us Mega’s for Sceptile and Swampert really as if they didn’t it would unbalance the 3 main starters since Blaziken already has one. I wouldnt worry about not getting them…you know how GF likes to keep the main starters balanced.

IF mega slaking was to come into existence i think it should remove truant HOWEVER instead gain slow start. WIth slow start it still has a huge limitation but gains an OPness that isnt overkill

from looking at the footage they showed last night, it looks like that’s when Groudon/Kyogre are first awakened. They appear out of the sea, no noticable landmarks, and their ability activates. It would make a good cut scene, and explains why they are coming out of the same area

In the “teaser” footage we got yesterday, I saw no land masses. It might mean that their not done with the cut-scene yet or that their are no land masses around the Legendaries at the time! Battle Frontier will be in it…it is an enhanced remake so they will not just have Battle Tower if there is already an established battle frontier.

Unlikely since Dragon is still hard to beat due to its many resistances and diverse movepools. They will most likely update the movepools to cover a few fairies. Thunder will destroy Azumarill and Togekiss. Salamence and Flygon can both learn Steel Wing and they may add some poison type moves to some of his pokemon’s movepools for greater coverage.

Azurill, Mawile and Gardevoir but srsly i Azumarill will br trounced by Thunder and Gardevoir will be hit bad by Phoebe and Drakes pokemon can learn Shadow Claw and Steel Wing. Mawile may be a threat though especially if you have access to its mega early on. They will be good against Sydney though.

I meant between each set of remakes… it has been exactly 5 years between FRLG- HGSS and now ORAS… whereas FRLG were only 8 years after RB, HGSS were after 10 years but ORAS is 12 years after RSE…

As heavy said, probably around the time HG/SS were finished. Remember the GameFreak guy in Celadon said they were remaking an old game, etc, etc.
Plus they have the models from X/Y, so the hardest part is out of the way. I’m sure they’ve used feedback from X/Y to further polish and improve ORAS (At least I hope so XD )

So where does everyone think yesterday’s trailer took place? I want to say Sootopolis, but GF said they were full remakes of RS, and that scene only happened in Emerald. Unless they add features of Emerald in it, like HG/SS included Crystal’s features, which I would prefer. Or it could just be part of the opening cutscene.

After watching it so much, I think it’s more the opening scene now. So much open water, doesn’t look to be actually in Sootopolis, unless they altered the plot slightly xD
Part of me hopes they somehow turn ORAS into Emerald’s plot, but I can’t see it happening. It’s not like Crystal which didn’t change the storyline, just added more to it.
I’d also like them to use Emerald’s storyline. It’s longer, and more fun fighting two teams imo. If it’s the opening scene, the cutscene graphics can be expected to look like that too 😀

Because R/S didn’t have that fight scene, and it’d be difficult to include Emerald’s plot considering Emerald was a re-telling of R/S by combining the two stories. But we don’t know. Nobody can claim anything as factual in regards to the storyline right now xD
Maybe in Omega ruby, rayquaza doesn’t show up and groudon wins the fight, and in alpha sapphire, same thing, but kyogre wins! 😀

So I just read serebii Pokemon of the week for garchomp and I didn’t realize is was that broken. But I think mega garchomp is a downgrade IMO. Base 102 speed is mediocre at best and lots of things can out speed it unless your scarfed. And mega garchomp lost one of the things it needed a boast in .-. Hopefully it get’s dragon dance from a move tutor.
I don’t like Garchomp. It’s an E. Quaking Monster!!!
Just an idea i had based of whether Kyogre and Groudon get Megas but I believe the abilities they get should still coincide with the weather but maybe enhance them slightly
Mega Groudon: Solar Flare – Heat intensifies by drastic proportions. Fire attacks do twice as much damage as normal, Solar Beam gets a 1.5x boost in power, all non fire type pokemon take damage at the end of the turn.
Mega Kyogre: Monsoon – Rain becomes insanely heavy (maybe some lighting in there). Water attacks do twice as much damage as normal, Thunder gets a 1.5x increase in power, all non water types take damage at the end of the turn.
Maybe make it so both of these last 8 turns instead of 5

I still think Weaken will do little to render Slaking.
Regigass is NU cause of that. Most of the time it doesn’t stay around long enough to do anything. And 5 turns is a long time for quick battles.
But slaking is a TANK
Mega Slaking needs something that makes it useable but not OP. Which is pretty impossible. Unless they actually reduce his attack stat, and throw it into the useless special attack stat, then give it a different ability…

I have to agree. It makes more sense to involve both Groudon and Kyogre in the story, considering they are supposed to fight.
All past versions have had the exact same story except different legendaries so I really think it’d be best. The only thing I could see as a problem was that Rayquaza may overshadow Groudon and Kyogre since it flies in and stops the battle and then you go catch it. But they could possibly combine the storylines from R/S with Emeralds?

When they nerfed weather it was actually the smartest thing troll freak has done! Weather was over powered in gen 5, the only way to beat a weather team back than was either another weather or counter team that selective weather type. This gen you can stall it out for 5 turns. I love it!

If you think about it, Groudon has to be in water for them to have a proper battle, because Kyogre obviously can’t go to land. Good Guy Groudon.
He could form a small land platform like in Emerald though.
But in emerald when they fought groundon made a land mass for it to stand on.

Serena doesnt get much love because she’s a mindless follower. all you know about her is that she has a certain thirst for ash. she hasnt decided what she wanted to be, and the other girls did. and in many aspects, including pokemon ownership, shes being outdone by BONNIE of all people. As of thursday, it is assumed that Clemont will be holding 2 pokemon for his sister. and the only development in her fennekin, learning flamethrower, was done by accident trying to learn ember.
lack of development is the issue with a lot of anime characters. especially in really popular anime like pokemon and naruto
I wish we had ONE female protagonist that could actually be as helpful, developed, and designed as Misty and Dawn. Love those two!
The whole thing is that each region has a theme, and each regions theme is different, and ash’s role is different in each one. people assume unova was a reset of sort, so thats why ash’s development in unova was skewered. in sinnoh, he was reaching the pinnacle of his character, and took more of a mentor role with dawn. Kalos is based on beauty and friendship, so much character development ability wise will be tossed for development friendship wise. that and everyone’s fashion sense will improve throughout gen 6. assumably

I feel kind of bad for Dragon-types… Although they were overpowered and Fairy-types were added to balance it out, they would only be the shield and super effective against themselves… I wish they could add Rubber-types to balance things out better.
I just wished dragons where resistant to fairy’s instead of immune. And I think fairy needs another weakness. It’s the best defensive type in the game IMO

I never really talked about Sinnoh remakes. I just wanted Cynthia in the ORAS game because she’s an amazing opponent. And of course, I WANT Steven to be in the game because I never played Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald.

With the way Game Freak changed things, I don’t even know if I can… I didn’t mind Gen II adding Steel and Dark, and Magnemite along with its evolved form becoming dual-type. However, they could have made former Normal-types (Snubbull and Clefairy) dual-type like Jigglypuff, rather than making them pure Fairy-type. They went a little to far with that. A friend of mine told me that pink means Fairy-type, and she was annoyed with that.
They still could have put the entire Elite Four just like they did in the Sinnoh Saga.

It’s fine. I think I was acting immature as well. I think we both wanted to make a point and that’s where it kind of catapulted! 😀
I would also like to apologize for the Fairy-type fanatics. It’s not that I really hate Fairy-types, I just did not like how they arranged the type effectiveness chart. My favorite Pokémon-types are Fighting, Bug, Flying, and Electric. Just because Fairy-type attacks are super effective against Fighting-types, doesn’t mean that they should have resistance against Fighting-type moves. I feel as if Rubber-types being resistant against Fighting-types would make more sense. I was just trying to make a point as well. I also didn’t like how they changed the typing on Snubbull and Clefairy. They should’ve kept their immunity to Ghost-types if they were Normal/Fairy type, like Jigglypuff.
It just breaks my heart to see that Banette got a Mega Evolution rather than a new evolution. Duskull was the Ruby counterpart of Shuppet and Dusclops could evolve in to Dusknoir by trading with a Reaper Cloth. It feels kinda wrong for me for Banette to be left in the dust. They should’ve gave it a similar evolution method, but with a different item. If it were to evolve into a jester-like Pokémon then it would be a Ghost/Fairy type.

Agreed. if nothing more, they will refine the artwork to follow the more modern smoother appearance vs the Gen 3 rough feel. only the pokemon are fine in regards to this style, but while that picture is epic in its own right, i doubt anything drastic such as that will occur.

I keep wondering how trading from XY to ORAS will work. Will one be able to trade Gen IV – VI pokémon to ORAS in the very beginning? How will the Bank effect ORAS? What if one wants to trade a Feebas from XY to ORAS instead of catching it the hard way in Hoenn?

2.you could transfer from start; I think you could evolve pokemon that were not originally in the games too.

Guys, you can skip both Gyms 2 and 6 in Gen 3 until the E4. It’s REALLY hard with no flash or Fly, but you can do it. U say sometime we should have a gym skip challenge, where you have to skip 2 and 6 in either RSE or ORAS

You can get by without Flash. Without Fly however good luck travelling all over the place by foot.
Yeah, and there’s that one part where you have to go back to Slateport to do some business. Seems quicker to just beat it and get Fly.

Sounds like someone needs to play Ruby again 😉 There was no Team Magma hideout in Mt. Chimney in Ruby version, that was added to Emerald. Groudon was awakened in the Seafloor Chamber.

Well, Groudon’s height is 11’06” or 3.5 m, and you don’t really know the official depth of that part of the sea, it’s not even that far offshore.
Plus there’s the cavern, raising the land level.
I think it’s a given that the water has to be a lot deeper than 3.5m otherwise it’s hardly diving is it?
Groudon could easily create landmass beneath its feet as it rose out of water.

Hello everyone! Once again I’m sorry for starting this topic here but I posted one picture of the Volcanion event yesterday and everyone said “I’ve seen that!” and I think that with the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire, no one cares about that but we can’t forget that we don’t know everything about X and Y. So with that in mind, I saw Hirobyte post that this could be one event like the Arceus event in Gen IV that never came out and thaat could mean that, we will get Volcanion by Mystery Gift or there is another event involving Volcanion or even that the Lumiose Press event will be playable and not just coded! But if that is the only event in the game for Volcanion, what will happen with the Power Plant?
What will be the event for Hoopa or do you think it will not have any event?
The Ghost Girl, is there more to it, is it related to Hoopa or do you think not?
