Pokémon has just announced that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be released in November 2014 for the Nintendo 3DS. Not much more is known. Below is what the official site posted in their announcement:

Look forward to Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire when the games launch worldwide in November 2014!

I think that’s it.. I honestly remember reading an interview where they said that.
It would be pointless to drop megas. They add a fun twist to online battling, the main game and add more use to pokemon that are rarely used in battles. Not to mention, people want to see megas of their favorite pokemon and speculate as to what megas they want to see next. It would be just about as pointless to say that they would drop forms after gen 4 because few people dislike them.

I really feel like one game is going to take place in the past, and the other take place in the future because Alpha/Omega also means Beginning/End.
