Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Announced

Pokémon has just announced that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be released in November 2014 for the Nintendo 3DS. Not much more is known. Below is what the official site posted in their announcement:

Announcing Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems! Prepare for an epic adventure exploring a world filled with Pokémon!

Pokémon fans first enjoyed Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version when it launched in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. Now, a whole new generation of Pokémon fans will experience the dramatic storyline that unfolds in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Look forward to Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire when the games launch worldwide in November 2014!

These games will be released in November world wide as confirmed by the Japanese announcement. The Japanese mini-site is kind of cool, by the way.

ps- Personally I cannot be more excited about these games. I don’t know what a heart attack feels like, but I think I had one when I saw these announced.

  1. “New World” as in 3d version of RS, not a new region. They might add some areas like they did in previous games.

  2. At long last. These silly, desperate attempts to Confirm Hoenn can be put to rest. :’)

Also, the cover art pretty much confirms that Groudon and Kyogre get a Mega or a new form somehow considering they look different from their normal forms on the covers. Could it be the stones that Magma/Aqua used to awaken them in the originals is actually Mega Stones? This would mean that Rayquaza also gets a Mega.

I believe this won’t be a rushed product either. All that time spent on XY was spent a lot on modeling all 700+ Pokemon. Now, they don’t need to do that anymore (unless new ones are added), so these games probably have been in development for a while since we already have a release window. I’m going to assume that the game itself is 85% complete and GF is just using this time to use feedback gained from XY to further improve these games. They honestly could take until next year for all I care. As long as SwampScep get their Megas OR I WILL RIOT!

Also, just so people can quickly compare the original forms and the cover art forms of Kyogre and Groudon…

  4. Notice how Gen VI’s pattern is going?

    1. XY
    2. Remakes/Sequels
    3. Probably X2Y2/Z/X0Y0

Same thing happened in Gen III!

    1. RS
    2. FR/LG

  5. What if GF completely ruins these games?
No walking with pokemon, no Megas, no character customization, no May or max…

    • In reality, they could mess this up for me. Four Pkmn Gyms, bad plot, take place OUTSIDE OF HOENN ;~;, idk.

  6. I do not know whether or not to act if I am excited for the Ruby & Sapphire remakes. As far as I’m concerned, they should fix the typing changes they made for Togepi, Snubbull, Granbull, Cleffa, Clefairy, Clefairy, and Clefable (should be Normal/Fairy). Maybe then I will feel a little better about the new Fairy-type. Additionally, I wish for a little tinkering on the type effectiveness chart. Here are the following changes I want to see for Gen VII:
    1. Fairy-types take 1x from Fighting-types.
    2. Add Rubber-type. Make them immune to Fairy-type attacks, weak against Fire-, Ice-, Poison-, and Dragon-type attacks, and resistant to Water-, Ground-, Grass-, Electric-, and Fighting-type attacks.
    3. I wish for Rubber-type attacks to be super effective against Water-, Electric-, Ground-, and Fairy-types, and not very effective against Fire-, Ice-, Dragon-, Rock-, and Steel.
I am just giving my opinion about what I saw and why I was disappointed. Please feel free to give me yours. Thank you!

    • I disagree with the idea of Rubber type, adding a new type was difficult enough as it was, the type effectiveness chart has to make sense. Also, the Normal/Fairy would be a bit pointless and it would be awkward to retype those same pokemon again. Not bashing on your ideas, just giving my opinions as well :3

      • Well I was looking forward to the game until the changed the typing on some of the Pokémon I liked. I was looking forward to having two alternate evolutions for Togepi… Mou!

          • I was okay with them adding a new type. I just did not like how they arranged the typing. Fairy-types being resistant to Fighting-type moves just for super effectiveness against them. I found it to be a little overkill. I think they may have been too busy obsessing over the Mega Evolution concept to fix it. No offense, but if they hadn’t fixated on that then they wouldn’t have rushed with the type changes and effectiveness chart. I mean mega evolution is great, but it gets boring real fast…

          • I don’t think the concept of Fairy/Dark type would would work for Granbull. Here’s something that will. Give Granbull a Fighting/Fairy-type evolution. That would be awesome!!! Gaaaaoooo~! XD

      • I find the name “condomon” a little disturbing. However, I did come up with a few Pokémon and even came up with a few good Japanese names for them based on my research. For example:
        Stretchimp (Ukkipyon in Japanese)
        Tiny Chimp Pokémon
        Pure Rubber Type
The term “pyon” means “boing” in Japanese. Same goes for the onomatopea “ukki-ukki” which is the sound a monkey makes.
