I’m gonna state my opinion right now and I don’t really care if you agree or not, just putting this out there. People treat this like a social media website, instead of relevant discussion. I’m guilty of it too, so it’s not like I’m blaming everyone and acting all superior. Among the kind of posts I’m referring to include the “I’m here,” “Hi everyone,” “Hey I just got back” posts, the “I’m bored” posts, my “I love you” posts, the “goodbye,” “Goodnight,” etc posts, the Minecraft spam, and other topics about personal life that can be talked about elsewhere. Guys, this is Pokejungle, not Facebook or Twitter. Discussion about Pokemon is fine, the Jade Jungle project is awesome, but everything else just creates unneeded clutter and slows down Disqus eventually. Some other things that add to Disqus slowing down are replying to trolls A LOT, and when people battle each other (especially Multis) they decide to all comment about said battle. Just take it to chat for the 10-15 minutes it happens or PM. It adds up quickly. You wanna talk about other things, exchange alternate means of contact like Skype, Twitter, Chatango PM (What I use to talk to some of you xD ), etc.
Just as an example to start getting rid of some clutter, there’s no need to announce that you’re here. Reply to a comment, and we can easily see that you’re here. Saying hey everyone leads to 5 or more replies saying hi back, and that’s just not necessary.

Well, we are a big family, but I think it would be better if they could announce it on PJ, but then take the issue to PM just to discuss things more privately and in-depth. I wouldn’t want personal issues freely known to everyone, even though I trust most of the people.

Like TC said, we’re all here for each other. But issues like that are better handled on PM. I think a lot of this off-topic stuff drives away new commentors as well. If you were completely new to the site, I doubt you’d comment if all you saw was off-topic everywhere from personal issues to “I’m bored”. Degrades the “community” aspect and turns it into social media.
I would honestly just leave this place if I couldn’t discuss freely. My patience for people in general is dwindling these days anyway.

I think they haven’t because it was announced quite a few articles ago by PJ himself about it all, people raged, and since, mods have subtly dropped the hints in Featured comments, but it still hasn’t been picked up. I think they want us to do it ourselves instead of them having to be “bad guys” and force it upon us. They want a happy community where ours thoughts all matter, not one where they lay down the ground rules and we must follow like zombies

I personally like that people discuss freely with each other, and think that it’s a part of Pokejungle. I do agree it could be cut down though.
Totally true man. The main cause/problem is that the majority of Junglers are too young to have a Twitter/Myspace, so they treat PJN as their social media site. Posting little messages that have no relevance to Pokémon and just clogging the disqus toilet. Just like every kind of bad behavior, the best way to avoid it is to stop reinforcing the attention. That can only happen if everyone stops feeding each other spam to eat.

I so agree with this! This basically sums up my feelings about Disqus right now. As soon as I read the first two sentences, I knew I would agree. And to be quite honest, those “XD,” “Lol,” “Hi,” “bye” comments are not worth even reading along with people replying. Sure it would be nice to get a response to “Goodnight,” but it shouldn’t have to be there in the first place because we don’t need to know when you’re going to sleep or when you’re here as you mentioned. It starts accumulating and once we reach 10,000 comments, Disqus along with the article blows up. It has already happened two times, and it shouldn’t have to happen in the first place. I’m sure about 70% or more of the comments on those articles with 10,000 comments were meaningless things.
I wish everyone here would read your comment because there’s so much truth in it.
Actually, that’s kinda unfair. I’ve seen an article with over 40000 comments, and Disqus didn’t crash for them.

This is 100% true. The Jungle is just filled with junk now. It changed a ton since X & Y was release. Now people just come here and comment about many random things. The site gets like 3,000+ comments of just clutter. Things need to change quite a bit on this website.

One day, I will stop coming to PokeJungle. It could be tomorrow or it could be two years from now, but recently I have felt myself go a little bit more…insane, for the lack of a better word, every day. Life is the only thing I truly think about other than Nintendo and PokeJungle. I could really write a philosophical novel by this point.

Each day is basically a copy of a copy. I just want to be done with school and onto college in the city.
That’s why some people like to go on vacations and things like that, so they can break that chain. However, I’m too uncomfortable in public to even enjoy BEING in public or go places often. I know that we will probably never meet, but if we did, the confidence that I sometimes display would not be evident at all.
People go on vacations when they can afford it. They either pay for it themselves or go on vacation because their parents pay for them. I don’t exactly like being in public either. In hallways, i rush to class, sit down, move on to the next class, go to my locker, go home.
My life:
Tests every class, every day, every week ;-;
Studying for tets on weekend (but end up getting distracted most of the time :p)

Yeah, can we do a revote. I don’t approve of two Generation II Gym Leaders being Elite 4 members.
They won’t be all E4 members. Two old gym leaders. Two new E4 members.
But they are from the same generation. And Generation II is my least favorite generation.
Take one from Generation V, since that was my favorite Generation.
Well, the reasoning behind it is that Whitney and her miltank were OP. She was the strongest Normal type gym leader and Flying won the poll for the third e4 member. Falkner is known as “The Elegant Master of Flying Pokémon”
Now, Whitney I understand.
I just don’t find it reasonable to have two Gym Leaders from the same Generation to appear as Elite 4 members in Jade Jungle. Besides, to me, Generation II SUCKED.
At least pick a more memorable Gym Leader from a more memorable Generation. My perspective, though.
The only flying type gym leaders are Falkner, Skyla and Winona. We’re going for the gender equality. Male champ, female professor, female former gym leader, male former gym leader, male new E4, female new E4.
Not to mention. Falkner and Whitney would make a cute couple. Shipping.
