The Pokémon Plus & Pokémon Minus Rumors

Although I’m covering this news story, it’s by popular demand. I don’t believe any of this and I highly recommend that you do not either.

The site DualPixels (which has since crashed) claimed to have gotten “information” from a leaker about Generation VII. They claim:

  • Two new games are codenamed Pokémon Plus & Pokémon Minus, could be final
  • The battle system is going to be re-worked completely and simplified
  • New region is based on Southeast Asia, may have islands
  • GameFreak is trying many new ideas out that they’ve been holding onto
  • “Three new starters with no names: Water evolves into Water/Steel and is a squat, teardrop shaped humanoid that has a jar filled with on its head as it evolves it grows taller and the jar bigger until it needs another set of arms to hold it on it’s head. Fire evolves into Fire/Fairy and is a tiny cute goat with fire blowing out of its horns, it’s horns and look evolves more menacing until it has curly ram like horns and a motorcycle hot-rod-like look. Grass evolves into a Grass/Electric and starts with a leap for a face with a nubby root as a body and evolves until it grows into an electric producing palm tree with each flower petal having a different face.”
  • “The main legendary for Pokemon Plus is a Shi Foo Lion-looking Psychic/Ground-type that has multiple faces, the Pokemon Minus legendary is a Ghost/Fairy type that has two dashes for eyes and is a hurricane-like appendages with many arms and hands.”
  • “The new “Team” villains are described as a bunch of “Sohei Zelots”-types who have discovered the player’s best friend as a reincarnation of a special type of person who only is alive every 100 years. They believe the old system where people were given a Pokemon egg and they stick to that Pokemon until they die and who’s function in society dictate what role that person is. They are against the “modern” trend of Pokemon Trainers and capturing multiple Pokemon and are making a holy pilgrimage to evoke the old Legendaries to turn everything back to normal. They keep the player away from their friend, saying the special one (who can do amazing things like mega evolve Pokemon without the use of a mega ring) only love is that of Pokemon and not people. It is planned to be reveal later that for the special one to fulfill their role in society they must be mortally sacrificed to awaken the legendaries.”

  6. Pokemon Plus and Minus could very well be both sequel & prequel to X and Y !! And what if all the details that came with it was false but the titles real. They could function around a time machine or something, Plus you go into the future, Minus you go into the past.

  11. It just hit me… Heavy may be on to something. 70 kalos pokemon, plus 70 new pokemon would equal the normal ~140 per gen. Lack of legendaries? There are more in the other side. The train to the east makes sense. X and Y leaves lots of questions still. The gastrodon thing is also interesting, and in all honesty that may be the biggest hint of them all.

      • But if the 2 regions are connected why didn’t Pokemon migrate over. Probably for the same reason as Kanto/Johto…Pokemon logic

    • Thanks bud. And Zygarde’s dex entry talks about it revealing its secret power once the eco system goes wrong…

      the next game the new leader of Team Flare (or a diff group) can probably try to cause a war between both regions again (just like the one 3,000 years ago) and when he/she starts destroying the towns/cities in both regions an NPC gives you Zygardite, you use Zygarde in battle to mega evolve and prevent both regions from going into war again (saving the eco system)

    • This also leaves room to develop a story for Zygarde, as his role in the game is minimal at this point. Zygarde is said to restore balance and maintain peace, so maybe the next games will travel further into the history of the war and reveal that Zygarde had to emerge to bring balance back to the world :/

      • Terminus cave is also at the far east of the Kalos region, so if there were a region to the east of Kalos, Terminus Cave could connect both of them and Zygarde could be the third legendary in TWO trios!

    Names are iffy, but then again, so were X/Y when they were announced.
    Kinda disappointing that there’s a lack of Remakes lately, but the remakes were only there for connectivity reasons. There were rumors though of a new game with a new region right next to the Kalos region for it’s sequel. As part of the ‘war between regions’ that happened 1,000 years ago I think.

    X and Y were kinda short in my opinion, and the simplification of EV’s were great, it’ll be interesting to see what else they could do. I just hope that there will be more to do in the next games, +/- if you will. Give us a contest series with a ribbon system, a Battle Frontier like element with secondary badges, etc. Something more to do aside from just heavy training to compete online.

    Expanding on this another list of rumors: Pokemon Terminal sounds interesting actually; done right that is. I wouldn’t mind seeing something like an online hub also where you can use the GTS in more detail, battle with great visuals, heck let us watch battles! This would be a great chance for new players to catch on to basic and advanced strategies. And then if they do include new play styles such as contests, let those be online and competitive too! With the ability to link to the Terminal and watch/play there.

    Some of these do sound like ideas being tossed around, most of them likely approved for experimentation and could be changed later on. I wouldn’t expect to see an announcement until around E3, and released later on in October/November.

  19. Day 0: I’ve packed my bag and I gave Aegislash a new coat of blood to look stunning. Shauna is next to me being annoying and talking about memories and all that junk.   23. While I’m thinking about starters, I’ve got to say that I’m disappointed that old gen starters don’t learn their STAB attacks at Level 5 like the Kalos Starters. 🙁
