The Pokémon Plus & Pokémon Minus Rumors

Although I’m covering this news story, it’s by popular demand. I don’t believe any of this and I highly recommend that you do not either.

The site DualPixels (which has since crashed) claimed to have gotten “information” from a leaker about Generation VII. They claim:

  • Two new games are codenamed Pokémon Plus & Pokémon Minus, could be final
  • The battle system is going to be re-worked completely and simplified
  • New region is based on Southeast Asia, may have islands
  • GameFreak is trying many new ideas out that they’ve been holding onto
  • “Three new starters with no names: Water evolves into Water/Steel and is a squat, teardrop shaped humanoid that has a jar filled with on its head as it evolves it grows taller and the jar bigger until it needs another set of arms to hold it on it’s head. Fire evolves into Fire/Fairy and is a tiny cute goat with fire blowing out of its horns, it’s horns and look evolves more menacing until it has curly ram like horns and a motorcycle hot-rod-like look. Grass evolves into a Grass/Electric and starts with a leap for a face with a nubby root as a body and evolves until it grows into an electric producing palm tree with each flower petal having a different face.”
  • “The main legendary for Pokemon Plus is a Shi Foo Lion-looking Psychic/Ground-type that has multiple faces, the Pokemon Minus legendary is a Ghost/Fairy type that has two dashes for eyes and is a hurricane-like appendages with many arms and hands.”
  • “The new “Team” villains are described as a bunch of “Sohei Zelots”-types who have discovered the player’s best friend as a reincarnation of a special type of person who only is alive every 100 years. They believe the old system where people were given a Pokemon egg and they stick to that Pokemon until they die and who’s function in society dictate what role that person is. They are against the “modern” trend of Pokemon Trainers and capturing multiple Pokemon and are making a holy pilgrimage to evoke the old Legendaries to turn everything back to normal. They keep the player away from their friend, saying the special one (who can do amazing things like mega evolve Pokemon without the use of a mega ring) only love is that of Pokemon and not people. It is planned to be reveal later that for the special one to fulfill their role in society they must be mortally sacrificed to awaken the legendaries.”

  7. I’m really leaning toward this info is fake. When i read that I imagined Game Freak doing that stuff, but i realized they would have to be pretty desperate if they included the new team trying to kill your best friend. Plus even if they did scrap some gen 6 Pokemon for gen 7, I’m sure they wouldn’t make a goat that eventually looked like a type of motorcycle.

    Gonna leave this amazingness here.

    As i said yesterday, it’s too early for Gen 7. Especially when Gamefreak has so much on their plates already with this new region of the hiker at the hotel, The pikachu detective game, Trozei 2, A possible Orre game, maybe even more spinoffs.
    Gen V was said to be the shortest generation, Zygarde didn’t even get a chance to shine yet. Gen V had sequels. Thus proving this would be way to early. Not saying that Gamefreak isn’t working on Gen 7 right now. They could be, who knows. But i highly doubt any REAL leaks would be out this soon. Not to mention, these ideas sound like those a 5 year old would come up with.

  18. IMO the next region is going to be apart of Generation 6 (dubbed Gen 6.5). I feel 100% sure its going to be based on Germany. Not a fricken Southeast Asia. All signs point towards it.

    – I attached a picture of a map, which shows that France is shaped like a Star, just like Kalos region, and that Germany is to east of France just like a few predicted Kalos clouds are concealing a region to the east/right of Kalos.

    – Only West Gastrodon is in the Game (the pink one). You cannot obtain EAST Gastrodon (blue one) unless you use Bank.

    – The NPC that gives you strange souvenir item (depicts a new pokemon from a faraway region) is dressed from head to toe, the same colors of the German flag. German flag is black/red/yellow, NPC has black hair, red shirt, big yellow backpack.

    -Couriway Town (which has a train that travels through east of it, starting from Lumiose, has a town description sign that reads “a town connecting differences” which hints at it bordering another region.

    • – The next games will be like FRLG/HGSS. Kalos was the beginning region like Kanto… then the next games we start off at the new region, once we complete the 8 badges/leader we are able to take the train and travel back to lumiose/couriway to a post-dated Kalos region with another 8 badges to complete.

      Here’s a cool history/theory on Parfum Palace that relates to Germany someone came up with on GameFaqs…

      So what does this knowledge have to do with finding out where the new region will take place? Well if we have found even a minor link to “our world” then maybe we will find more clues! In the Parfum Palace you will find a tourist who explains when the castle was built! “This castle was built after Kalos won a war with neighbouring regions.” Well if we can confirm the official completion year was around 300 years ago for the Palace of Versailles and for the Parfum Palace, maybe there was a war in that small timeline? And there was. It really depends how one defines the completion date of the Palace of Versailles. If the outer date is true (1697) then we must analyse the “Brulez le Palatinat” a massive slaughter which takes place on south-west Germany or an earlier victory of 1678 the “Franco-Dutch War” which soon escalates into a European War including Germany as well. If we where to state the interior completion date to be true (1710) then we’ll have to look at the “War of Spanish Succession”. But this isn’t necessary! The French succeeded in the “Brulez le Palatinat” and “Franco-Dutch War”, but lost the “War of Spanish Succession”. Because the two palaces where built after victories and successful kings, it wouldn’t make any sense! So our clue lies in either the Netherlands or Germany…

      • YES! Kalos gave off a whole Kanto-ish vibe. The Pokemon League being connected to an early town. Santalune Forest. Kanto starters. And now a train that connects to somewhere East of Kalos. I think they’re definitely going for a Johto-type game next where we’ll be able to take the train to Couriway Town, much like we took the ship to Vermillion City. And in regards to the backwards flowing waterfall, you know those waterfalls in Couriway town? What if in the neighboring region, that water is flowing up over the mountain and then down into Couriway?

        • YEP exactly! Both regions start with K. Like you said, the Santalune Forest = Viridian Forest. The Post game Mewtwo thats catchable. The 3 legendary birds. We got to pick our Kanto starter. We got to wake up Snorlax with the flute. Cinnabar gym you had to answer trivia just like Lumiose gym.

          And in regards to the waterfall, it probably has something to do with the moondial (the other region has a moondial instead of sundial as confirmed by an NPC in Anistar)… The moondial probably makes makes the gravity of the waterfall function differently or something. Also, Magikarp can climb this backwards waterfall as confirmed by an NPC in couriway! We are def in for a treat with something big this year

    • I really find your analysis to be interesting. I’m not really hopping on to the gen 6.5 thing yet though, even with all the signs pointing to it that you pointed out. I really feel like one region per gen is how it should be. Although, gen 6 has shown it ‘s not afraid to shake things up. We ‘ll see.
