A new patch has just (well, ‘just’) gone live, fixing several things for Pokémon X and Y. You can download it on the eShop now and it is required if you want to do online. The change log is as follows:
Patch 1.2
- Fixes an occasional bug causing Pokémon not to learn new moves after evolving through Wonder Trade.
- Fixes an occasional bug where certain captions for Trainer PR Videos were not unlocked in Lumiose City.
- Updates an Internet communication issue.
What Internet communication issue are they talking about? Well, it fixes the data snooping, essentially killing both Battle Analyser and Instacheck. If you didn’t know about them, Battle Analyser allowed you to see your opponents move sets and even the move they selected that turn before you selected yours. Instacheck allowed you to see the Shiny Values of your Pokémon, essentially making you put some effort into shiny hunting again. So for all those cheaters out there: too bad!
It’s currently unknown if the update will stand the test of time but we know for sure Gamefreak is doing all they can to ban ‘illegitimate’ practices. Now we only have to wait for the patch that fixes the barren endgame.

Why do people think the endgame is so bad, I mean there’s the Looker Bureau, Lumoise City, Friend Safari, Pokeradar, Wifi battles and trades, wonder trade, chain fishing, perfect IV breeding, not to mention buying all the clothes availible, the battle facilities in Kalos, the restaurants in Lumoise, I really don’t understand…
The looker quest was the only thing you mentioned that is actually end game. That’s why.

With the 1.2 Patch, I noticed some things about the Elite Four (first time battled) when I replayed the game from scratch on my other cart. Can anyone confirm these?
1. Malva’s antagonistic dialogue is removed, she is no longer: annoyed with you, wants to burn you where you stand, and call you a runt. Instead, she says she is busy and she’s a Holo Caster star. Was it always like this if the’s the first fight?
2. Siebold has been nerfed to 1 Full Restore rather than the 2 Full Restores everyone else has. Probable reason: My God that Gyarados. Even overleveling it by 10, it was really scary.
Hm… I’ll check this out in a bit after my test. That’s interesting. I wonder why that was changed. I felt like it should’ve been changed after the first battle though. It didn’t make much sense afterwards.

So I have a quiet Snover with perfect HP, defense, sp.attack and special defense. Should I invest 252 attack/sp.attack with a mixed set? Or should I go special with 252 HP/sp.attack?

Yeah that’s good. Earthquake is for pesky fire types. I highly doubt you’ll get to use it on them since its 4× SE and fire types are considered “glass cannons”.

It has very good defense stats, 105 in both Defense and Sp. Defense.
It has 105 in both defences and 90 HP for base stats. Pretty good if you ask me but it’s typing holds it back.

the standard max atk and max hp. MMash, EQ/Hammer Arm, Bullet, Zen Headbutt. You can choose to move some HP to speed if you like, but max HP for bulk.
