Dae asks: How connected are you?

News is crawling by slower than a three-toed sloth. I guess you can’t really promote new games when you still want to sell the old ones :). Bring on the spin-offs in January, please.

Anyway, today’s about a major feature of Pokémon: connectivity. Even more than 15 years ago, Pokémon was designed to bring people together to let them trade and battle. Nowadays, with the internet having gained solid ground, staying connected is easier than ever. With the PSS in Pokémon XY, battling is as simple as pushing one button. This leads me to my question: how connected are you? How many friends have you got in your friends list. How many times do you battle and trade everyday? Do you talk a lot about your battles with your friends in online chat, or even at the playground? And who’s considered the best local battler of his friend group/family?

It’s hard to make up news, and we don’t have coverage that is coming to a close that actually gets delayed and trickled to pretend there’s still news, so if you have any ideas, hit us up in the comments. Maybe I should try to write my own Pokéology, seeing as we have no clue what Mechanos is up to. You can comment in the meantime below this article, but everyone who spams too much will be put on the ‘spamlist of shame’ for everyone to see. Happy commenting!

  1. I really love the PSS. It’s such a big step forward. No more stupid Pokemon Center Union rooms, everything is available right on the touch screen, it’s simply fantastic. How connected am I? Well, my Friends list is full thanks to the great community here 🙂 I’ve enjoyed getting to battle and trade with everyone, it’s simply been a blast! As for the best battlers, I’m gonna give that to Jordin, who’s my Rival on here 😀 And of course regidudeam, who dominates me every time…except that first battle, I’ll always have that saved regi 😉

@Jordin, If you’re here, http://i.imgur.com/BomRiGg.jpg?1 🙂 She’s Impish nature, Bulletproof, and has perfect HP, Defense, and Speed.

@Jiro, I’ll begin going though the Chespin army shortly to see if anyone has perfect Special Defense IVs for you. I’m sorry you’ve had to wait so long.

  2. Alright, so as many of you know, my Wi-Fi is down. I’m gonna make a list of trades I need to make, and tell me if I missed any.

  4. How connected am I? Well before X/Y for the past 5 generations, I never had any friend codes or even anyone nearby with whom to play with (well maybe 1~2 but no more). And now, I have well over 60+ friends in my friend list. I’ve never felt so connected before to the pokemon community, and it’s a great feeling! I don’t battle and trade too often but MUCH more than past generations (Most of the time I’m IV Breeding). Battling? I’ve many more opponents to face, but to me, whether I lose or not doesn’t matter to me. I really wanna see people use unconventional pokemon with unconventional movesets/strategies. I really appreciate that! Nevertheless, my very first battle in X/Y was against TCMets, and it’s probably the one battle that I will always remember!

  5. I’ve slowly become more and more connected as the generations go on. I really started getting connected in Gen 4 when I used the GTS, but even then i really didn’t do very much. In Gen 5 I started trading more on the GTS so I could complete the regional Pokedex and I battled once or twice, but nothing really more than that. In this 6th Gen however, I done more than I prolly have every in terms of being connected. I’ve traded a ton on wonder trade and even battled a bunch of people on random match up(not very well I might mention). XD

  6. Back when I started playing I was horribly disconnected because nobody where I live played pokemon, but over the years it’s gotten a lot better as far as the internet roping me into its loving arms is concerned. If I’m online most of the day I’ll usually get a battle or trade or two but If I’m WTing away eggs I can get in a bunch. I’m not super connected, but I’m happy with the level that I’m at. I have a decent friend list as well thanks to dA and tumblr! (Ps if anyone has a ditto or frogadier safari drop me a line!)
Locally speaking it is me. I am the battle queen. Don’t be fooled though because I’m actually really bad haha.

  7. does someone here have the ingame name willy?
we just traded pokemon that only evolve thru trading and traded back, without any way of communicating xD that’s so cool you can trust some people on here just cause theyre not trying to scam you outta it or anything like that c:

guess that ties into the article. this is my first time ever using internet stuff on a pokemon game. before, it was just like the gifts/events you got from game freak/nintendo, but being able to do this stuff just makes the game much more fun for me than ever before!
