All of the New Pokémon in Pokémon X&Y

New Pokémon

More new Pokémon…?

Currently there are several Mega Stones that have been found, but the Pokémon has not: Druddigon, Heracross, and Galvantula. Profilic Pokémon Black & White leaker “Hiro” also said that Scizor would be getting one too. A legendary trio could also surface in Kalos as well as unseen downloadable Legendaries.

What do you think? Are you OK with the smaller number of “new” Pokémon? Do you like the concept of Mega Evolutions and their role in battles?

  1. GF why you no make Bug/Dragon Pokémon?! And turning an old gen Pokémon into one via Mega Evolution doesn’t count!

    • Too bad, because Yanmega would have been the perfect choice.

The problem with dual-typing bugs is Ground attacks. If you give them Bug/Anything other than Flying, suddenly you have flying insects that are suddenly affected by earth tremors. It wouldn’t make any sense for Yanmega to be affected by Earthquake, and it also doesn’t make sense for Heracross to be affected now, since the anime and multiple other sources have shown Heracross using its wings.

          • You never noticed the neutral sound effect? Also, if it was super effective against Scizor, the game would have said, “______ used Earthquake” “It’s super effective!”.

          • I rarely battle Scizors in the game and use Earthquake. It’s on generators like Pokemon Online and Showdown where I battle them the most, and I don’t always stare at the text to see what happened. At least it hits neutrally, which is better than some types do with Scizor. Anyway, at least I love carrying Fire moves on Pokemon to hit him with instead.

  2. I don’t see the problem with having only 3 new legendaries. There’s too many already. Do you WANT another pointless trio?

      • I feel like the trios themselves aren’t redundant, but it’s the other legendaries that are.

In Sinnoh I would have been fine with the Lake Trio and the Creation Trio, but then add the Moon Duo, oddly lonely Heatran, Manaphy and it’s useless kin, Shaymin, and Arceus and then it gets ridiculous.

Unova would have been fine with just the Tao Trio and the Musketeer Trio, but the Kami trio just was completely redundant. Add in Genesect, Keldeo, and Meloetta and there’s a Legendary metagame all on its own.

Kalos seems fine with 2 trios- the Yggdrasil Trio and another minor one. The trio Pokemon won’t be Uber leveled strong, but will be about OU strength.

    • Define pointless. The Musketeers and the Genies were both cool as hell. The regional trio is one of the things I looks forward to the most.

      • Pointless as in not having an effect on the plot. I have heard that they are good though competitively, and the movies do make me respect them. I was just thinking about the Regi Trio then. My mistake.

        • The Regis are just odd. The anime depicts them as Legendaries some times, but then will occasionally just throw them in. Brandon has all three, which is just crazy, considering that he’s only one of two trainers in the anime to have any legendaries (Tobias, I’m glaring at you).

          • I can’t decide which battle was more infuriating, his or Brandon’s. If Brandon would have used all 3 Regis against Ash, he would have swept him. Instead, he suddenly uses regular Pokemon for the first time. What? I wanted to see Charizard take out Registeel, Bulbasaur take out Regirock, and Squirtle and Pikachu work on Regice.

Then, instead of using regular Pokemon that he must have used to catch Darkrai, Tobias sends out a Latios. What? I wanted to see what Tobias had, but that was just awful. In my opinion, it was even worse than Pikachu’s loss to Lucario. At least Lucario put up a good fight and Ash lost fair and square.

          • I honestly like Tobias, but I don’t like how TV Tokyo created him as a Deus Ex Machina against Ash. You know…Ash has finally defeated his ultimate rival and has achieved far greater than ever before. He even won a few difficult battles with Blaze Infernape (WHICH WASN’T EVEN MEGA!!!!). But Ash must always lose in the final tournament. What do we do?

            TOBIAS!!!

        • Yeah, the Regis were definitely a low point for regional trios, but the birds, the beasts, the lake trio and both of the gen V trios are all varying degrees of great, IMO.

  3. Despite ther being only 69 new Pokemon atm, I don’t mind it one bit. There are a lot of new Pokemon I want on my team, and even the starters are the first time in a long time I want all 3 once more (only had that for gen 1 and 3). Also i go by this, Quality over quantity 😉

    • Added in this gen has made the TOP 5 things I wanted to become a Pokemon too, them being Pancham (panda), Fletchling (red Robin), Tallonflame (I see it as a pseudo Pheonix), Tyrunt’s line (Motherf***** T-Rex :D), and Hawlucha (a stereotypical Luchadore Pokemon :D) lol

  4. Am I the only one who doesn’t have my whole team planned out? I have:

    1. Greninja
    2. Mawile
    3. Chandelure
    4. Dragalge

I still want to use a Psychic and a Flyer. Perhaps Sigyilph.

  5. I agree with what seems to be the general sentiment: while there are fewer new Pokemon than in previous generations, I really like their designs and typing, so I’m okay with there being less of them. I kind of think of Gen 6 as a parallel to Gen 2, in that it introduces a smaller number of new Pokemon because it primarily builds upon the generation(s) before it.

    Reply
    • every second gen is parallel to each other for the most part, gen 2,4,6 being the gens that usually build upon old pokemon while having a few new concepts themselves, where as every even number gen is usually a pretty stand alone generation of pokemon 1,3,5 all had a large number of pokemon who could function on their own, the only exception was in gen three they had 2 baby pokemon, wynaut and azurill

  7. My current mindset for a team:
    .Greninja
    .Charizard (X)
    .Heliolisk
.Klefki (or spritzee if I can get one :P)
    .Goodra
    .Trevenant

😛 it’s hard for me to not want to go with all fairy types, I love all of them

Does anyone else love the fairies as much as I do? 😛

  8. i’n facing a major problem
How will I do a Ground Monotype journey with only a Diggersby?
I can’t use Zygarde since it’s a Legendary and only 1 ground type that can mega evolve so far
and what about the alleged Ground/fairy type… does it exist? I NEED ANSWERS
And there isn’t enough of the other types I specialize with I.E Fighting and Rock
the only type that can be all kalos would be full on Fairy

My goal is to become the Greatest Ground type Master!

my Mamoswine is from a little swinub from SS
and my Krokorok evolved ages ago and is competitive able!

          • Mine is Rhyperior!
Rhydon was my all-star in the original Red
but through my childhood most of my favorites consisted of Sandshrew, Diglett, Cubone, onix, Geodude and Nidoking

            Back to Rhyperior
Rhyperior is a over-sized powerhouse that can literally shake the foundation of every opponent and crumble their chances of victory, my Rhyperior took several Earthquakes and barely flinched

          • all the time, but I never give up, nobody said I didn’t lose a couple of matches due to type disadvantages

But I won’t ever give up my dedication!

although I did managed to defeat Misty in the PWT on a full 6-on-6

          • Not my question, but I think Swampert, Rhyperior, Krookodile, Gliscor, Mamoswine, and Hippowdon would make a great Ground type team.

          • I’d put in Gastrodon over Swampert for that Storm Drain neutering Water-types, but that does look good.

          • I’d say Garchomp, Gliscor, Mamoswine, Gastrodon, Torterra, Excadrill. 3 of those are x4 to ice though..

    • You have Diggersby, Dugtrio, Flygon, Garchomp, Golem, Quagsire, Krookodile, Hippowdon, Rhyperior, Steelix, Marowak, Stunfisk, Whiscash, Golurk, Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Mamoswine and Gliscor.

I’d say use Diggersby and Garchomp for sure (because Garchomp has a Mega, which is new), and then take a pick out of what you haven’t used before? Idk man.

  10. anyone thinking about using a Binacle?
call me weird but I think I’m developing some sort of “feelingz” for the little parasite?
and besides Barbaracle looks like a mean fighter!

    • I want to see how its stats compare to omanyte, omastar, kabuto, kabutops, corsola, relicanth, tirtouga, and carracosta first. That’s my dig at the typing.

      Reply
    • Heck na. The typing would be helpful to me but I just can’t get over it’s appearance so I would end up boxing it. Plus barbaracle doesn’t redeem it enough to warrent using it. At least for me
