All of the New Pokémon in Pokémon X&Y

New Pokémon

Notes: The image above was not made by me. It came from either 4chan’s /vp/ board or Reddit. Props to the creator, it is very well done.

More new Pokémon…?

Currently there are several Mega Stones that have been found, but the Pokémon has not: Druddigon, Heracross, and Galvantula. Profilic Pokémon Black & White leaker “Hiro” also said that Scizor would be getting one too. A legendary trio could also surface in Kalos as well as unseen downloadable Legendaries.

What do you think? Are you OK with the smaller number of “new” Pokémon? Do you like the concept of Mega Evolutions and their role in battles?

  1. To people complaining about only having around 70 Pokemon, this is a great move by Gamefreak to keep Pokemon around longer and increasing it’s longevity. There comes a point where there are too many Pokemon, and that would probably be around 1,000.

  2. My baby sister wants to share her team with the world (she’s getting X from me) so here is her team so far:
    -Chespin
    -Swirlex
    -Pidgy
    -Squirtle
    -Litleo
    -Espurr

  3. how does one pronounce “trevenant”? is it “tree-vuh-nent” or “treh-vuh-nent” like in the word “Trent” ? or am I thinking of the wrong thing here?

    • As long as you’re not trying to use Kalos ones only 😛

But yes, even Dragon and Fairy Monotype runs seem possible now.

      • not during my first play through oh goodness no! I bought both versions just for the sake of replaying y version and having x as my… what do you call that? my… “main”? that doesn’t sound right…

        • Main File sounds fine. My X is my main one where I’ll have a character based off myself and my Y will be my challenge one.

          • that sounds right! that’s what i’ll do with x, my main save file! and whats better I learned I can fit my actual name this time for my trainer haha

    • Indeed! Although im disappointed (not annoyed) that there are not as much new pokemon this gen i think XY have really changed the way we will play the game, certainly the metagame, changes to typings and interesting new type combos mean monotype runs will be exciting and will certainly become more popular.

      • eventhough there aren’t that many if there were like 151 instead that didnt look as great as these but were okay how many would you use? and there were so manny in unova that not everyone has used so if you use those it will feel new.

        • Exactly. A great example of making use of older pokemon that you may never have used will be those retyped to fairy…they may as well be new considering how much of a boost it gives them coverage wise. Plus with the amount of pokemon available it will be exciting to make a team using pokemon that have never been in a regional dex together before.

  6. My tentative team looks like this; I was trying to do an all-Kalos set, with one exception:
    1) Chesnaught
    2) Charizard
    3) Barbaracle (I said that if Binacle turned out to be real I’d use it on my team, and I’m a man of my word)
    4) Avalugg
    5) Klefki
    6) Goodra

    Thoughts?

    • I love how your team starts of with normalish names and then the second half is gibberish sounding ones (Av-a-lug, Kleff-key, Goo-dra?)

    • Chesnaught- Good solid typing with great coverage, you’ll just need to watch out for those Flying types!
Charizard- With its new Mega evo(s) it is looking better than ever! The flying coverage will be great against the new grass and fighting types introduced and fire is a great all around offensive beast that charizards SP atk makes great use of.
Barbaracle- Not a choice i would make but i respect your integrity! You’ll just need to watch our for the electric types that will try to thrash it with special attacks and of course the 4x weakness to grass types.
Avalugg- Great choice, i really think the Ice type is underrated and this one seems like a great wall for the less mainstream types (poison, dark, bug etc). Plus it can hit dragon’s hard.
Klefki- This is where i think you might want to maybe change up, the standalone Fairy/Steel leaves a little to be desired… its stats seem okay but are not great. Typing is fantastic but Mawile (with its new Mega evo) would probably do a better job but since you want to stick to Kalos pokemon then Klefki is fine. However you will really need to think about EV’s and the nature you are using in order to take advantage of its strong points.
Goodra- This one i think really depends on one thing…X or Y? If you are getting X then i would suggest something else since Mega Charizard X will give you your Dragon Type and renders Goodra slightly redundant without its niche typing. Of course you can have more that 1 dragon type on your team but if you want a well rounded and balanced team its good to have as much coverage as possible. Goodra will fall to fairies where Mega Charizard X will not (thanks to its fire typing). I would suggest maybe Aegislash as a good coverage against fairies, psychics and ghosts. However if you are getting Y then Goodra could stand on its own as your dragon type however with Y you have the opportunity to get Dragalge which i think may work better for you as it can hit fairies which would try to destroy it. Goodra will obviously have the upper hand stat wise but Dragalge wins in coverage. It depends what you are looking for.
      Overall i would suggest:
X: Chesnaught, Charizard, Barbaricle, Avalugg, Sylveon, Aegislash.
Y: Chesnaught, Charizard, Barbaricle, Avalugg, Klefki, Dragalge.

      • That was an amazing breakdown. Id love to get your thoughts on mine xD If you have a moment anyway

        Delphox
        Tyrantrum
        Mawile (Mega)
        Trevenant
        Pangoro
Then I was thinking maybe Clawitzer? Kinda up in the air on that one. I considered Blastoise but its only one Mega per battle right? I wouldnt have to mega evolve it buuuut…. 🙁 Id super want to lol.

        • Delphox- Definitely an interesting typing but comes with a few weaknesses but more resistances to buff it up. You’re going to want to take advantage of its great speed and special attack so this will be your sweeper. Max its Ev’s in those two stats and work around a movepool that utilises both STAB’s and if possible a priority move if it gets one.

Tyrantrum- Looking at your team i would perhaps suggest Auroris instead to give you that coverage against flying and ground types however if you want to stick with Tyrantrum then i would definitely suggest bulking up its defence and making use of its ability to power up jaw moves. Watch out for fairy type attacks and make sure you have a counter for them.

Mawile- This of course is where Mawile comes in and it really is a great choice! That Steel/Fairy typing will work great against Dragons as well as other fairies. The mega evo will be a nice boost, just ensure you have a decent moveset with at least 1 support move to bulk its defence (id suggest iron defence) as this will give Mawile greater longevity. Hopefully it gets Moonblast and this will be your main STAB alonside Iron Head (unless a new steel move is introduced). Your main issue is really going to be fire types who will completely wall Mawile so id suggest rounding off your moveset with Stone Edge to take care of those.

Trevenant- Very little is known about it yet so ill base it on type alone…interesting and provides you with great coverage against bulky water types as well as ghost and psychic types. Again watch out for fire types as well as other ghosts. Forest’s curse could be a really great move here if it gets it as it will allow you to wall SE types making them grass types. Hopefully it gets a move that will be SE against grass types to make full use of the curse.

Pangoro- Definitely a solid choice! Great typing that does come with a few weaknesses but has the power to fight them off. Take full advantage of STAB moves and attack quickly, hoping for a speed boosting move and thunder punch to take care of flying types which will be your main issue here. Max out speed and attack and this will be your physical sweeper.

Clawitzer- Definitely the right choice here if you want to stick to Kalos pokemon (which im sure you do), with moves like crabhammer and mega launcher boosted water pulse you will have some great STAB moves to take out those fire types that will be gunning for your team.

A good balanced team with some good coverage…i would maybe consider Auroris instead of Tyrantrum though as it will give you better coverage against Flying Types that will go for Trevenant and Pangoro as well as ground types that will try to destroy Mawile. But it isn’t entirely necessary.

  7. I wish there was a Mega Alakazam. I LOVE Alakazam, in fact I have a lv. 90 one that I will be training to lv. 100 before this weekend.

  8. With these pokemon … I’m excited for any future PMD games! I’d hope for the Meowstics, helioptile, and pancham to be added in for sure! And.. let’s not forget Goomy~

    • I really hope the next game’s text speeds are a bit faster and that they have a greater selection of starters. I loved how the first games did it, so I was disappointed when the new one dropped the personality test and the ability to get 15+ of the starters.

      • Completely agree.. You have no idea how upsetting that game still is for me. I still haven’t got past the first few hours of the game yet. x_x the text speed and slowness of the game is driving me crazy; especially since I’m not even playing as a pokemon I’d pick in the slightest D: That was the best part of the first two PMD games [besides the storyline], the vast choice of who you’d want to be and what you’re destined to be through tests.
I hope they bring that stuff back in any newer ones for sure.

        • I had to choose between PMD:GtI and Fire Emblem Awakening and I decided to try something new and get FE:A. I was sold on PMD until I played the demo and couldn’t get past the horrible text speed. I hear the story is great and I loved the first two, but I couldn’t bring myself to get it because it seemed to drag on slowly. I got Fire Emblem and am obsessed with it, but I wish PMD:GtI had a stronger pull.

  10. Josh still can figure out how to evolve gourgeist let along the form differences. So far pokemon amie doesn’t seem to factor in, leveling up to 48, and leaf stone will not yield an evolution. He is guessing that dusk stone might work.

  11. What really bums me out is how few of each type were released as well as how few two stage evolutions. Poison is one of my favourite types, and I’ll be definitely using Dragalgae but I’m disappointed that its my only poison option. Same goes for Bug (Vivillion) and Ground (Diggersby), neither of which I particularly love. I appreciate that I’ll be using my old favourites in Mega Form but its not the same as making new favourites.

  12. You want to hear my off-topic question? No? Shut up. Alright, so, is 304 Sp. Attk extraordinarily good for a lv. 90 Alakazam, or is it around basic?
