Nintendo announces 3DS and Wii U’s online services to end in early 2024

Following the closure of the eShop stores for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles, Nintendo has announced that online functionality for the consoles will also be coming to an end in April 2024.

This means that multiplayer games will no longer work over the internet and any downloads or communication that used Nintendo’s servers will cease to function.

Will Pokémon Bank stop working when the 3DS loses online functionality?

Because Pokémon Bank uses servers managed by Pokémon, the application will still function past April 2024, but support for it will eventually end. The Japanese Pokémon account shared on Twitter that it recommends players transfer any remaining Pokémon to Pokémon HOME as soon as possible.

No date has been set for when Bank‘s service will end at the time of writing.
