If You Love Rumors, That’s OK

I’m re-tooling this post a bit. Some people and outlets decried the coverage of the fake starters yesterday for not being reasonably believable or not 100% confirmed. I would argue though that reading about interesting stuff can be fun, especially when you’re covering a game intended for a primarily adolescent audience. Everyone needs a break from the stresses of life, why fuss over gaming news. Let’s just have fun and enjoy it.

As long as rumors or suspect information is clearly marked as such I think we can enjoy it without shame. No worries, we won’t stop covering them.

Have a good weekend everyone!

  1. Doesn’t surprise me verlisify doing this. He always attacks people which is why I ignore all of his videos. That said the rumor discussion is the main reason I love this site so keep it up

      • That describes it perfectly actually. That said fans need to let other fans enjoy things the way they want. I love discussing rumors because it gives us something to do in news droughts. Some people hate rumors and that’s their choice overall

  2. I see the queen of clickbait complains about other places doing rumours because… reasons? Sad. PJN covering rumour actually keeps it relatively alive compared to the game sections of places like Serebii and Bulbapedia.

  3. I agree with this completely. I appreciate Serebii for being a reliable source of legitimate news but I appreciate Pokejungle just as much for being a source of rumor and “leaks,” whether they turn out to be true (like Gen 7s starter final evolutions) or not. I can understand why some people don’t care to speculate, but there are plenty of sites they can visit for their purposes. I do like to speculate and I like to analyze rumors and try to figure out if they’re true or not. It’s a fun exercise. I’ve never been able to understand why some people get so upset over someone else having fun with something that doesn’t affect them at all.

  4. I think everyone needs to chill. Everyone has their own way of enjoying Pokemon. Some like ti straight with no fluff and other like having a little bit of whimsy added in that may or may not involve fakes being around. It’s up to the individual to decide whether they think something is real or not when it’s not coming directly from the main source. Even if PJN didn’t have “Rumor” plastered on each of their articles it still would need to be up to those reading it to make the decision of whether ti’s worth believing or not. Attacking others straight up for enjoying fakes is awful. Just because you don’t want to see them doesn’t mean you should keep others from seeing them. People need to stop acting all self righteous about this and just let everyone else do their own thing. If something big blows up that turns out fake then who cares? The truth will be known eventually. IT’s always best to take personal accounting in consideration first before you jump to conclusions and start judging others. Sometimes that’s easier said than done, but everyone just needs to do their best. There is never a good reason to attack others for having different opinions (unless it involves hurting someone). If they’re not hurting anyone then you shouldn’t either. It’s as simple as that.

  5. What a complete idiot, you can’t get mad at people retroactively for covering things that are deemed fake at a later date. I hope he turns into a wolf and runs away into the forest. (Sorry, I don’t like to mince words very much)

  6. Sorry but this article comes off as super defensive and kind of pathetic. Who the hell gives a shiit about what Verlisify says? What more can you even say about the guy?
He’s a hypocrite, he’s petty, he’s brain dead, like… ok whatever, who cares? We all know he’s a tool we don’t need to spell that out another 50 times. Shofu already roasted his ass better than anyone here is going to
Just ignore him and continue doing what you want. If people don’t want rumors there are plenty of alternative Pokémon sites. This is the one with rumors right in the tag line. You don’t get the moral high ground by responding in a sarcastic and dismissive manor

But whatever that’s just my opinion

    • Part of me does feel it’s a bit out of place for a news website, but I can see why PJ is very much annoyed because someone with a large influence in the Pokemon community is constantly criticising his site for what pretty much just amounts to attention bait.

I do feel the language used in the article does come across as very much defensive at points tho

  7. Allow this deer to add her two cents.
The whole argument is stupid, You’re both wrong here…
I can back up my remarkably blunt statements.

Pokejungle, as much as I love and respect this place, it’s members, it’s concept… You do produce as a whole many articles that are considered clickbait solely because of presentation, execution, and even a little bit of biased messaging. The way we come off as, is extremely biased towards rumors, most of the members agree they enjoy them, that can be a good and bad thing. I’ve seen the arguments that arise from this, some of them are downright ugly and end with someone crying or leaving. The part that offends me about all this is the way you guys as admins and topic masters handle extremely sensitive subjects and make them personal using your choice of subjects and wording. (Such as but not limited to: Denouncing Logan Paul, How Verlisify is ruining everything, even this article on Fakemon and rumors) This has to stop getting so personal, that’s almost as bad as yellow journalism, which is basically tarnishing your record… The same articles could be produced without getting so personal, so biased, and so focused on agendas. That’s the very definition of political… You guys have to stop picking targets the way you do if you want people to take you seriously, again, these articles don’t have to be personal and could still work with better wording, but as is, no dice!

However, To all anti-rumor, SJWs, and Public Service Announcers… Would it kill you guys to also not focus on agendas, propaganda, and blacklisting? Dos and don’ts are mostly opinions in this case, and have no solid factual foundation, it’s almost always he said/she said, “But they started it!” or a game of chicken with apologies and concepts. Painting lights black on places is wrong, unless what they stand for is conceptually immoral, and in some cases illegal. This is called slander, and can actually lead to suing and arrests… Being a bully to everyone is a terrible idea, Because one day, you might actually need those people, and you’ll be S.O.L. to you that oppose Pokejungle and what we stand for, you have some points, to hate us for what we are with no reason other than rumors is downright disgraceful. As i stated in the other argument, I don’t think everything PJN does is great, but I am here for a reason, deal with it, or raise a point worth agreeing with, don’t cower behind your followers or videos on Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, or wherever.

I apologize if this sounds like ranting, but someone has to say it…

    • um

SJWs? The site is very, very left leaning, and I’ve seen that put off right leaning members before but I’ve never seen it bad enough to be called ‘SJW’. I’d like to know who you think is an SJW here :p

        • I used it for a rule of 3 concept in speech, but yeah, I guess the term is a bit outdated now that I think about it… got any better suggestions for a side that opposes ours as rumor lovers or enthusiasts?

          • Fair point, but he’s probably got followers now who are going to walk away with that and branch off with their own stuff, it’s like a weed, when one grows, others may be coming… I agree that if it’s only his point at the moment it might be irrelevant, but ideas spread quicker thanks to the internet too, you have zero idea who’s watching atm.

          • Fam do you think this is a unique situation? This happened back in 2016. Hrs a stubborn dickhead this whiny article won’t change him or his fans.

His fans clearly aren’t self aware enough to think for themselves if they watch his content and this article isn’t goona snap them out of that

          • That was my whole point, did you read what i just wrote? The whole point is both sides are suffering here, but both sides have problems too! I even typed out some solutions, no one might listen, but they’re there if they want em. I don’t intend to change the world here, I am flawed like everyone else. But you cannot tell me with a straight face both sides don’t have issues that are clogging our cognitive thinking…

      • That’s the competing argument to our site, I never called anyone here a SJW, but those outside of our site exist… It’s sad to think people treat rumors like the devil, but some people abroad do it, some people treat everything we love that way… It’s entitlement complaining that should have no place in our society as it stands.

  8. Paul, PokeJungle is a great website. I love how anyone can come here and discuss anything anyway that they want. It is the utopia of internet discussions. And in a free environment like this, there occurred almost no occasion that we can bad or unfortunate. I think it is mostly like because of the people coming here having some set of quality because they decide to write a comment on a website that has a certain level of quality.

As you’ve said you can go on different websites for different purposes. Pokemon fandom does not have monopoly. If you want to see if something is confirmed or not go to Serebii, if you want to learn which move you can teach to your Pokemon go to Bulbapedia, if you want to chat about anything related Pokemon and discuss current Pokemon news in a friendly environment come to Pokejungle.

If you don’t like here, it’s OK, that’s why there are different options so that you don’t have to come here. If you want to spread your “Pokejungle hate” all around the internet like it is the main reason of child labors in sweatshops then go f*k yourself you little piece of sh*t.

People who are anti rumor must live sad, dull lives. Why talk about fun drawings when we can talk about the dialga and palkia event distribution despite them literally being in the games that just released?! So fun.

  11. I like discussing rumours here and debunking them together but also talking about possibilities. We got alot of conversation and ideas flowing out of the last ones, which in a slow news period can only be good for the site. I don’t think any of us took any of it as fact because why would we? It was clearly labelled as a rumour. What does it even matter if some people elsewhere think it’s not worth talking about? Perhaps you might get some easily lead people following them like children to the tune of the Pied Piper, avoiding this site or others who discuss rumours, but I’d like to believe most are more free thinking than that. Anyway I’m done talking about it, feel free to offer counter-points if you have the need.

  12. It’s not posting Fakemon that’s the problem (I wish that was a thing..),

it’s the fact that fakemon are never a topic unless it’s ones that are posed as potential leaks, when suddenly everyone is talking about them.

  14. You can ignore Verlis. He can only run as far as his leash lets him go. I think people make videos on leaks, but always have a disclaimer. Disclaimers can keep you safe from some crazy things. All 3 of the fake starters could of all be possibly, since the last region related rumor we have is it might be based off of Spain.

  17. I don’t mean to bring these leaks back into the realm of possibility by any means, but the guy who’s claiming them gave this multi-paragraph tirade in response to someone asking for a timestamp of the picture frames. I really think this guy needs to get his head out of his butt and just comply so that people don’t have reason to question him.

    • Why he got angry over this? He first presented those as leaks from GF for a future game and then he said that he’s the real creator by showing the real art which contains some alterations that made it seem suspicious.

So he shouldn’t be angry because that kind of reaction is what to be expected after he did tbh
