What Ever Happened to AZ’s Floette?

Pokémon X & Pokémon Y may have been released over four years ago, but a mystery still looms over the games… whatever happened to AZ’s Floette (also referred to as the “Eternal Flower” form) that was coded in as an event Pokémon but never released?

AZ was a mysterious character who is revealed throughout X & Y‘s story to be a former king that built a machine to resurrect his beloved Pokémon who died in a great war. Unfortunately, although successful, he was not completely satisfied simply to have his Floette reunited with him—he wanted to end the entire war. In order to do so he re-purposed his machine into a weapon of total destruction which was fueled by the very life essence of Pokémon around it. After using it, the war ended, but his beautiful flower Pokémon refused to forgive him for the deaths he caused and disappeared.

Although AZ ultimately reconciles with his Pokémon, players eagerly waiting for this unique Floette form have not had such an auspicious conclusion. The form is still unavailable to this day and has never been formally mentioned by GameFreak. What’s more, its base stats differed than standard Floette’s; altogether it has a BST of 551 while its normal evolution is just one point higher at 552 (a normal Floette has a measly BST of 371). This isn’t all that surprising though given that it is evolution-locked and cannot evolve into Florges. It also has access to a special move, Light of Ruin, which is the strongest Fairy-type attack, but is currently usable by no other Pokémon besides this unreleased enigma.

There are many theories as to why this may have been. Was it meant for another game, possibly a third title for Generation VI, which explored Kalos’ lore in greater depth? Was its grim history too much for a family-friendly game? Or was it coded in for an unused battle against AZ, only existing as a model for the NPC to use?

What do YOU think happened and would you like to see it distributed some day? Maybe in the X & Y remakes!

  1. I think this event was planned for a normal event, but due to time constraints, they couldn’t get it done.

If you ask me though, considering how they handled Zygarde in future gens I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case here. I feel that after gen 6 GF just didn’t want to deal with it anymore so they stopped following up on any events related to that gen specifically.

  2. I guess it could be put in as a special one not owned by AZ that is just a really rare mutation, called Floette Ruinous forme or something. I don’t remember if its’ appearance was explained, was it as a direct result of its’ revival or was it like that before it died?

  4. I’m think that when I finally transfer up my HG team from last summer and my Black team from the last couple months up to the current gen I’ll have them all make a pit stop in ORAS so I can get them up to lvl 100 via Blissey bases. It’ll be a much easier task there instead of trying to find Chansey in USUM and SOS grinding

  5. For those of you who did not see, I posted this on the last article. I’d really appreciate it if you all told me how it looks/how to improve it! (I also really appreciate those who commented before). I’m also thinking of making Giratina shiny and making the title light blue.

“Tried making an intro for my game (tentative title Pokemon Guardians, may remove the Pokemon part). Here it is! I didn’t make the animation part, just the artwork. And if it seems like it is a little blurry, that is because my screen recorder upscales a little. Not sure why. The screen should more look like this: https://i.imgur.com/IF1ofcL.png

  6. Alright, I’m back on the road again for starting on my rebooted region! Currently, I figured out the region name and am working on the legendaries.

The region will be based on Tanzania and the theme of the region will be focused tradition and rebirth.

    • Meant to add this for the theme, but another theme is ‘breaking away from regular tradition’, so that not only means individuals in the region encompassing this idea, but also normal traditions consistent in normal Pokémon games might be severely different or diverge from it. So there could be patterns that were existent in normal Pokémon games that are non-existent, way different, or have a unique twist on it.

A few questions if I may ask.
Could you tell me what you use to make your map designs or what the program is called?
Is is free of charge? Or do I have to pay a few of sorts to use It?

  8. We have a couple new ResetERA rumors today…pretty spicy ones too. Apparently Bandai Namco is assisting in development for Metroid Prime 4, and they’re also working on a Smash 4 Deluxe port for this year. This one’s a bit more of a curveball…we could be seeing a “New Super Mario Bros. U +” port this year also. Yeah, that’s what we need, another platformer. Oh well, I’d still buy it.

Also, Nintendo earnings come out at 11PM PST tonight, with a Nintendo strategy meeting coming “tomorrow”. These normally don’t make big waves but I’m very curious to hear what they have to say about Labo’s role along with this blizzard of ports.

    • If gen 8 is really gonna have a different combat (this tweet kinda implies that)

Then Gen 8 pre release season is likely gonna be FFXV’s but on a major scale, and believe me, that was baaaaad.

      • Hmm.. possibly. But this Is largely a kids game. So they may not look that far past the name. Tho I c lots of parents got their kids a 3DS instead.. so maybe older players will decide this time… To early to tell

    • Well she’s not wrong

Gameplay changes of any kind are gonna increase discussion so I’m hyped for that. If the new system changes a lot I see Showdown keeping to the old style and possibly getting more popular because of that

    • I feel like she doesn’t know more than we do.. just likes attention. They all do.
My reasoning.. ppl like this leak all their reliable information as soon as they get it, cuz they want the attention from breaking the news first.. if they don’t, someone else will..
So largely these lil mystery tweets in between clear posts are just build up..

    • How about Xenoblade Chronicles 2 at over 1 million in sales? Apparently that’s really good news for that franchise! I loved the 60 hours I put into it, so I’m really happy to hear it!

      • Yep, it’s great! But it’s nothing crazy above XC1/XCX and I think the game now barely broke even. SMO is a lot crazier tbh.
