Pokkén Tournament DX

  • The Dynamic Fury Group Match is currently ongoing until January 22nd! As usual, this cup is a Team Battle competition, on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participates will receive special titles rewards based on Machamp depending on how high they place

Pokémon GO

  • Version 1.59.1 for the ever popular mobile app is now available! This update fixes several bugs including an issue that sent you back up to the top of your Pokémon list, as well as revamping the Pokédex for easy jumps to Regional ‘dexs, and adding a symbol to indicate shiny Pokémon in your list

Pokémon Duel

  • Requiring 247MB, Version 5.0.6 of the mobile game is now available to download! This update adds new Plates, monthly login bonuses and the new Ultra Space area. In this new area Ultra Beast figures can move into the space and power up. In addition, this update adds several new figures, and brings some changes to old ones:
    • New UX Figures – Nihilego, Mega Mewtwo Y, & Mega Mewtwo X
    • New EX Figures – Toxapex
    • New R Figures – Toxicroak
    • New UC Figures – Mareanie & Croagunk
    • Drapion Balance Update – Movement increased from 1 to 2

  8. Why is cosmog so happy looking at necrozma? Necrozma is probably just waiting until it evolves so he can forcefully absorb it. This is kinda one thing I dislike with USUM opening. It makes it look like Ultra Solgaleo/Lunala are these super cool pokemon riding through space, but it’s actual Necrozma after it forced its way into Solagaleo/Lunala, which seems like something weird to be hyped up. Oh Well Probably thinking too deep into it.
    This was a decent week. Made a UU team fairly successful, and I found love monotype. BUT still no shiny Ho-oh so thats annoying.

    I want to perfect a pure water type associated with whirlpools

    A mid stage Tadpole that swims in groups to create riptides and a gigantic bullfrog that creates life threatening whirlpools by inhaling gallons upon gallons of seawater merely by opening its cavernous maw

    Rippole and Undyrtoad
    And their signature ability and is Undertow which prevents opponents from switching out

  17. Okay let’s assume that the P-P-F leak is 100% correct. Knowing that there are big chances of Spain being the gen 8 region, what animals do you think we could see?

    For grass (past), I imagine Grass/Rock, either a Dinosaur or maybe a Gigantopithecus with a caveman theme.

    For Fire (future), maybe Fire/Steel, a Cyborg-like Minotaur, Bull cause Spain

    For Water… I have no frickin idea

  19. I feel like at some point in the franchise there will be a feature that lets us decorate the inside of a pokeball. Like we see how they look on the inside and can put tiny furniture in there and stuff. So it’d be a small luttle contained world in there. I mean we’ve gone into pokemons dreams and sh*t yet we still don’t know what the inside of a pokeball looks like

    • Well the innards of a poke ball have some insight

      Poke balls seem to recreate a contained environment that which a housed Pokémon is safe and comfortable in order to keep the contained Pokémon happy, there is some arguments that they are in a state of suspended animation where they are put on hold until needed this is not true due to the fact trained Pokémon can react to commands moments prior to releasing

      And the biggest mystery is the energized conversion where they’re broken down into code and stored within the pokeball for containment. Lucian of the elite four states that uncaptured Pokémon instinctively try to curl up and heal when captured to resist that is why the poke balls do not contain them on the spot so to give a chance to struggle free, then the whole bathed in a unique code that registers the Pokémon to the trainer’s ball to prevent other capture

      • This is bery interesting. What else interests me though is that they don’t need food within the ball. So you could bury one in the ground and someone could dig it up 10 years later and the pokemon would be aluve still I guess

  21. Unpopular Opinion: Pokeballs really don’t need to be explained

    What does need to be explained is revives. How do they work? I used to think you just kinda jammed it in your Pokémon and it absorbed it but do you like crumble it up into a powder or…

    … can you snort revives?

  22. For me the Pokeball explenation that makes the most sense is that it just has a shrinking ray. The pokemon lives inside in some sort of friendly enviroment, while stilll being able to see what’s happening outside.

    • Nah it has to be a code stream, their molecular structure is broken down into a universal binary code which is stored in the pokeball’s computer

      Hence why they can be deposited in PCs and explains why you must trade Pokémon which changes the signature code that transfers ownership to another trainer, because it’s all about trainer ID that’s registered

      • But that would mean each time we let a mon out of the ball it isn’t the same one you put in that ball, it’s just an exact copy from the same atoms. Each time we put a pokemon in a ball it’s killed by being broken down into code.

        • It is not being killed, it’s being broken down and reassembled harmlessly

          And as the ID signature it is very unique very common practice where it just registers The Pokémon and makes recapture impossible (hence why if you tried to catch another’s Pokémon it would fail)

          • when you’re broken down, you’re being killed. It’s like being desintegrated and then building an exact copy from the torn apart pieces.

  28. This is going to sound wierd, but I was honestly sad when I beated Episode RR in Ultra Sun. Not sad in the fact that I found it disappointing (which I loved the whole Episode), but because I beat the last part of the Pokémon 3DS games.

    What I’m saying is that it was pretty saddening to finish the games because my love for Pokémon really started to become huge thanks to the 3DS system. I remember getting my first 3DS back in 2011, and the first game that I got was Rumble World. It began peaking my interest in the franchise more than ever, and so I got Black 2 in December 2012. And then finally I truly became a massive PokeFan when I saw X and Y being revealed, and so I hopped on the hype train for them in early February of 2013.

    I still remember when I first picked up my X copy back on October 12, 2013 like it was yesterday. And beginning the first few hours that same day were quite magical for me. It’s very surprising that those first few hours were 4 and a half years ago now, and how much I did with Pokémon during that time, such as getting the main games, playing Rom Hacks, and especially joining this website.

    This isn’t a goodbye or anything like that, it’s just that I’m pretty sad and fully realizing that the 3DS era that brought me into the franchise is finished.

  32. Saw Coco today, some spoilery questions: How did the land of the dead work before photographs existed? How did everyone find out/ believe the stuff about De La Cruz in the land of the living? I know there were the letters with the lyrics but how does everyone know/believe Hector created them and didn’t just write them in the letters because he liked them?
    I enjoyed the movie alot, shame no Pixar short before though.

  36. In one day I got thrown out of two rooms in my house

    My brother threw me out of the living room (Which I’m the only one who uses it anyway) so he can get better connection for his TV so I moved my GameCube and small tv to the office upstairs (again only I use it), now my grandmother says because my uncle needs something out of the room that I can’t use it anymore. I only have my small bedroom now to store all my cards and my tv

  40. I really hope the new games don’t get a new mechanic. I’m sure they won’t but it sounds lie this new game will have a new learning curve if it’s own. I just hope all people’s hard work to get specific moves and IVs aren’t gone. … I dunno. Maybe traditional moves can go.. but not ivs.. I dunno.

    It sound like the gameplay will be slightly closer to what we see in the show from the little we “know” thus far.
    So what could they do to reflect a big change in the Pokemon world in the anime??

    The next region is going to be very similar to Unova in the sense that it blends urban life and nature but to an extreme. The plot will explore the concepts of human and natural forces and will be based around how both are important to survive. Think of it as a mix of gen 3 and gen 5. The actual region will not be open world BUT the region itself will be very encouraging to exploration and will be full of small touches that make the world feel very alive. The cut scenes will be cut down from the previous games but unfortunately the difficulty will be as well. Although the game will have a nearly flawless main story, its endgame will be near nonexistent once more. It will contain a new battle facility literally nobody cares for.

          I doubt they’ll cut down the difficulty, after seeing gen 7 they seem to try to make their games harder

          And the exploration sounds believable, they would make a big region for the switch so it makes sense that they’d want you to explore it as much as possible

            Since it’s a new console, I can see them trying to drag in new players. As such, they will make it easier for said newer players

          • I also could see them keeping USUM’s difficulty or even upping it. The Switch is geared toward older gamers than the 3DS so I don’t think they’d necessarily make it easier. More casual for stupid f*cking genwunners they will AGAIN pander to? Probably.

        • Given how easy it would’ve been to make the story of SM really good and how easily they f*cked it up with USUM, I’m not holding my breath for something comparable to BW. I think you’re pretty much spot on with everything else though lol

        • Well there was a huge shift in quality 5 years ago from gen 5 to 6 so I wouldn’t call the Gen 6 and 7 Gamefreak “modern gamefreak” at all

          • Gen 5 was the start of it lol. When they started removing complex side activities, limited Gym leaders and E4s to ridiculous numbers, and the start of the games becoming incredibly linear.

          • Unova is super linear, but the environments flow so well (other than Castelia to route 4, but they’re both done amazingly that you get over it) that you don’t notice it too much.

            I wouldn’t say that it was gen 5 that limited gym leader roster numbers. Platinum only had Volkner at 4 pokemon. At least they did have challenge mode in B2W2 that gave Marlon 5 mons

          • Marlon had 4 mons on challenge mode which is super impractical to unlock. Candice and Volkner had 4 whilst their Gen 5 counterparts had 3. Roark and Gardenia had three whilst their counterparts had 2.

            I noticed lol, because besides Desert Resort there was nowhere interesting I could sink my teeth into for exploration.

          • Really, I thought there were tons of interesting places to explore in Unova. The long surf route/P2 lab off of route 1, Dreamyard, Pinwheel Forest, Wellspring Cave, Desort Resort, Forlorn forest, Anville Town (though wish it was bigger, still cool how it’s kind of hidden), twist mountain, chargestone cave, castelia sewers, Abyssal ruins, Abundant shrine..etc.

            Comparatively, there are no fun places at all to explore in Kalos except maybe the mirror cave. Tower of Mastery could’ve been really cool because it’s massive on the outside, but so limited on the inside.

            And then with Alola the only really cool places for me are Ten Carat hill and Seaward cave/Kala’e Bay. Wela Volcano park, Blush Mountain, and even the new Mount Lanakila are disappointing.

            As for challenge mode, that is disappointing that Marlon only had four. I thought for sure it was 5. All well…it was still a bit harder. I do definitely agree that they need to bring back leaders with more pokemon and that the challenge mode being locked was so so stupid.

  52. Another bold prediction!

    Pokemon games have a reasoning for their names, or at least seem to be forming one

    Sapphire and Ruby are gems. When Primal reversion occurs a gem like casing forms around the primal before bursting. As such, expect Palkia and Dialga to have something similar involving their own gems.

    The next mega starters will be that of gen 5 considering that gen 5 parallels gen 1 in some aspects.

  53. I think ultron said it below but I’ve been thinking it a Long Time.. the new games Better Not have 2 versions. Part of me thinks there will.. cuz.. money. Due to seeing how willing ppl are to get Both versions..
    But something about it being on the switch makes it seem So unnecessary.. so uncalled for. Especially if things are changing. They need to get ppl focused on buying it in general, Not which version.
    Also, hopefully these games will market to an older audience equally. Sun Moon and focused on children. I could definitely c BOW vibes coming from the new games marketing to attract all and be more inclusive.

    • Disadvantages of advancing in healthcare: we are getting to a point where natural selection will no longer work for human beings. Maybe, we are at that point actually. That means some portion is getting more and more stupid; and some portion is getting more advanced in terms of intelligence. It brings us wider gaps in each passing day.

  77. Jesus f*cking christ. Stupid skarmory summoned by togedemaru took out my boldore…which I purposely chose not to evolve because I was worried it would be overpowered. This isn’t fair. I used iron defense TWICE and damn critical hits get me every time. I was over half health. F*ck this sh*t

  78. So I just found out that the starters in blaze black and volt white can start out with special abilities.
    Snivy- contrary becomes grass/dragon
    Oshawott- vital spirit becomes water/fighting
    Tepig – adaptability becomes fire/ground

    Well this is going to make soft resetting a huge pain because I want a beneficial nature since these games are more challenging. Right now I am leaning towards snivy or tepig for my starter. I am planning to also use all unova Pokémon that I have never used before apart from my starter.

    Some that come to mind are Swanna, volcarona, hydreigon musharna mienshao and lilligant

    All that said I am going to bed and will do this all later. Maybe I will be able to decide my starter soon
