        • I just want to know if my Laptop is charging correctly

It has this thing where it’s always around 97-96% saying plugged in not charging but it always worked, and rarely it actually charges which should be a good thing but it hasn’t gone up a percent since like 6:20 and I’m losing my fragile mind

I am just mentally scarred when it comes to my devices having battery or charging issues

  2. I think my favorite piece of recent Pokémon news was Ash’s Torracat evolving and the confirmation that Poipole will be travelling with the main group in the anime, possibly even being captured by Ash. Team changes were long overdue, Ash’s last one was Lycanroc evolving like 34 episodes ago. Also if his team consists of Pikachu/Any Rowlet stage/Incineroar/Poipole or Naganadel/Alolan Sandslash that’d be an amazing team.

    • Yeah that is a big problem for me, I really didn’t like how stagnant the Pokémon capture/evolution rate was in XY and SM

      Reply
      • The Evo rate isn’t really bad in SuMo, it’s the fact he barely catches anything anymore. Doesn’t help he’s got five companions to take up Pokémon and Gen 7 doesn’t have much mons anyway.

    • Wait a second… I think there’s actually going to be a Alolan Sandshrew and Sandslash debut soon, one of the upcoming titles mentioned Lillie and Snowie entering some kind of sledding contest and that seems like a right time for a sledding trainer to show up with a Snowshrew

  3. So I’m losing my mind again and I need a project or some kinda time consuming zen game to ease my worrisome psyche

I feel Minecraft is the right direction, just make myself a lengthy project to keep myself busy and stimulate my creative mind, its times like this I wish I still had a good lego set to put together… and now I’m stress rambling

  4. Ok well we have a few options for the starters of Pokejungle Fan game (Being as we’re using a type triangle from the norm) and all these fit the bill for Starters so pls. Choose one of each type. (Though one thing, don’t choose Geodude and Aron only to keep from having 2 of the same type for starters)
    Ice- Spheal, Vanillite
    Ground- Geodude, Trapinch, Sandile
    Steel- Klink, Honedge, Aron, Magnemite

    • Another port of it? I’m not so sure. It’s one thing for them to port games that were specifically for the Wii U, but to port a game that was already ported to the Wii U in the first place I’m not sure.

      Reply
        • I get ya and I’m not saying they shouldn’t, but considering it’s already technically a port they may not put it in the forefront of things to port to the Switch. They’ll focus on Wii U games to port rather than a GC game that has already been ported to a “newer” console

          Reply
    • I think it’s more likely they’ll remaster Skyward sword first. The switch has motion controls + they may institute a non motion control way to play it, which would interest a lot of people who didn’t like them from SS.

They’ll be looking to fill the gaps between BotW and whatever is next from Zelda, so it’s possible they’ll bring their already existing ports to the switch as well though.

      Reply
      • Yeah that’s the thing about Unova. Despite it technically being a very linear region it’s routes are super robust and interesting to traverse. I never really feel bored walking through any given route. Its’ a very nice region on the hole

        Reply
        • Yep! And I can remember every route perfectly. I wouldn’t even say they have a single bland route. I’d say it’s the best region despite Sinnoh being my favorite (music really wins out here). Hoenn and Sinnoh, while great, still have routes that are just kind of a slog/are boring.

  7. So Nintendo took down another direct after putting up the min on we got the other day. Seems like we’ll likely get another direct in the next month or so. I’d be willing to bet it’s either a general direct or one focusing on something like Fire Emblem

    Reply
      • Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. They still need to talk about the new one if it comes out this year and an early year direct seems to fit it. Tho they could talk about it in a general direct I suppose.

        Reply
    • I really want a general direct to show the games that’ll come later 2018, because so far this year doesn’t seem to hold a candle to 2017 in terms of games ngl

      Reply
      • this year isn’t gonna be like last year where we got a big game almost every month. It’ll have it’s big hitters probably, but not like how last year had. Thus why Nintendo needs to release Pokemon, Smash, AC, or a really good looking FE this year. Otherwise you’re right they don’t have much to stand on. 3rd party games are great and ports are nice, but you can’t really make them the focus at e3. And if they really want to sell at least 20 mill Switch units it’s gonna take something special

    • Gullp is close to feeling ‘Pokemon-y’, because it’s simple enough and even has the Gen V angry eyes. The proportions aren’t the exact same as a real gull, and first stage bird Pokemon tend to be a bit closer to their basis. That said, it can still use a bit of work to look less like a real animal, maybe play with colours and add unnatural accents or add extra fluff and texture. Or even mix in aspects of other birds, because it’s kind of hard to clock exactly what Pidgey which helps it feel like a fictional monster.

Alkatross’ skull on the wing is unnatural. It looks like a tattoo. It also kinda falls into a ‘it just got bigger’ rut that a few birds are guilty of. But IMO, it’s not that great of a transition stage because it doesn’t set up much for Storkarnage. It still has very short and stubby legs, and its beak becomes less straight before straightening out again. Trumbeak set up Toucannon by showing that its beak could bend. I think going for another seabird with a straight beak would be a better basis, or just make it a blend between gull and stork. There’s also the issue that Storkarnage loses all hints of being a gull. Pidgeot is just a bigger stork, Noctowl remains an owl, Swellow is still a super obvious swallow, Staraptor retains traits of a starling whilst taking on raptor traits, and whilst Unfezant, Talonflame and Toucannon drastically change species, you can see hints of the first stage (heart shaped areas on the whole Unfezant line, the Talonflame line’s red area becoming bigger and bigger, and Toucannon’s beak acting as a different tool/weapon in all stages). It also just doesn’t totally feel like a Dark-type, it needs to look more mischievous or intimidating.

Storkarnage looks more like a metalhead than a villain, and its presence is very non-threatening. It feels like something that acts scary but isn’t, or an unruly looking punk. Try to add more jags to add a hardness to the design, make the legs feel more threatening with sharper talons, dark patterns, etc, anything to somehow, make it feel intimidating for the sake of its theme and typing. I really don’t think that a stork (a seabird) is a good foil for a land mustelid because it feels like the hero vs villain theme was thrown onto two different Pokemon. Especially since they have a different amount of evo stages despite being counterparts. The hero vs villain theme would be better if it was a raptor that fed on small mammals because Polecante can be portrayed as a hero saving the young, sidekick-based Polemask, whilst the bird and its prevo (based on a villain’s goons). Seabird vs polecat just feels… Odd. It just feels like you threw opposing themes on unrelated lines to make them counterparts.

The whole conflict of good vs evil was already done in Alola with ‘thief vs detective’ (Ratticate vs Gumshoos) and in that case it worked better because the lines were perfectly parallel to each other and the interrelationship made sense thanks to its real life basis.

If Polecante and Storkarnage aren’t meant to be counterparts, I’m sorry for misreading it but a heroic ‘rodent’ and villainous bird just feels like its an attempt at that theme but it doesn’t really work.

      Reply
      • *Pidgeot also isn’t a bigger stork, disregard that part. It’s not particularly well written because I submitted it without editing so my thoughts kinda trailed and mixed.

        Reply
      • Thanks for going into details, I needed that. The skull is supposed to look like a tatoo, tho I don’t want it to feel unnatural. I’ll have to work on Storkarnage’s design some more, like you said it should be scary. And I think you forgot that Storks are raptors that feed on small mammals (as well as amphibians, fish and small birds). They are supposed to be counterparts and I’m not sure if changing that could work. Maybe I could work on making Gullp look like a goon.

        Reply
        • Storks can feed on small mammals, but they’re far more known for hunting prey that are amphibious or aquatic due to being water birds regardless of what they eat. You have to remember that your audience isn’t all knowing so you have to make some things obvious.

Storks are also often disregarded as raptors because they utilise their beaks for the kill, which also means the focus of it as a threat should be its beak, which can be an issue because we just had Toucannon based entirely on its beak.

Stork vs polecat has nowhere near the same impact as mongoose vs rat or mongoose vs snake, cat vs dog, or stereotypical birds of prey vs small mammals, which doesn’t bode well when the designs are meant to be opposites.

If they’re going to be counterparts, make them have an equal number of evo stages. Even if the bird is statistically stronger it works better thematically.

          Reply
          • Tbh I don’t think making them the same ammount of stages would work. I get that would work better for the counterpart thing, but it wouldn’t work for these mons, or at least for how I see them.
I think that what I should do here is make them less counterparts and more just enemies. That may sound dumb, but I think it could work better than forcing them to fit counterpart requierments.

  11. You know what I just realised? (and not using this as proof for remakes or anything)

RGBY are the only Pokemon games which you can’t play with the physical/special split (because their remakes preceded the split). And along with Johto, Kanto is the only region that we haven’t seen in 3D (not including Sinnoh and Unova which unlike those two regions are bound to get remakes regardless).

I’d love a retraux RGBY remix where they take aspects of future games but incorporate them into the classic colourless 8-Bit, or a 3D Kanto remake utilising newer/completely new mechanics and including Johto Pokemon naturally found in Kanto in the Dex. I’d prefer a Sinnoh remake or new game first tho :p

  12. How to make a cohesive Fakemon

    > Does the theme/character you assigned it match well with its basis, or reflects its basis?

    > You don’t have to throw a million themes on one Pokemon, especially if they don’t work well. A wire-like Electric worm might be a cool idea, and a Mongolian deathworm evo for that can work because it’s common for stories of the MDW to include it being able to release electricity. But a paladin-based Electric/Dragon wire deathworm with wings? Far too much, stop immediately.

    > If you’ve made a good Fakemon and want to assign it a certain type, don’t go out of the way to change it so much or give it an unjustified type. These can and will lead to the design becoming weaker, looking busy, or make people judge your quality of work if you’re just going to throw a type on something because you think it’s cool. GameFreak gets flack for that. You will as well.

    > If you’re making a type combo/stat spread/lore first before making the design, if it isn’t working out, you might just want to abandon the design and start afresh or change the stat/type/lore.

    > If you’re forcing a design and it doesn’t work, kill it or change it. As you should’ve guessed by now, forcing things is a deadly sin for Fakemon designers because it’ll reflect badly on the design. And because you don’t have a time limit because you’re not an employed member of a game development team, there’s no point in forcing or rushing a bad design.

I put it in twice and both times were denied. I talked to my manager and he said it was because our GM is being weird about scheduling so I should talk to him. I talked to my GM and he was really chill about it and told me to put it in again and it’d be taken care of. Once again it’s been denied………So now I have to go back talk to him yet again to make sure he actually does something about this. I’m not taking no for an answer and the fact that it seems like I’m being taken for a ride now is really staring to piss me off big time. If I don’t get a straight answer form them I’m gonna explode! 16. So we have a rumor that there will be another Direct this week. Interestingly, this comes from a person who’s leaked Fire Emblem-related information in the past yet he can not confirm whether or not this theoretical Direct would be for Fire Emblem specifically. Don’t take this too seriously right now, but all I can say is not to be too surprised if they spring a Direct announcement on us tomorrow or Tuesday. You should have mountains of salt ready for this rumor.

    • Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a FE direct very soon. This next week actually makes a bit of sense given that after every mini direct a larger normal typically is not too far behind. The longest we’ve waited after a mini one is about 20 days and the shortest we’ve waited is the day immediately after. So one this week would make sense. Unfortunately I can’t say I’m crazy interested in FE. I don’t dislike the series, but I’ve never really been able to give it much of a chance so I can’t say I’m too excited about a direct that only has info on it.

  17. So I’m prepping for a school assignment right now, and one of the options for this assignment is writing about the role of music in your life and some sort of anecdote about that. Naturally, I won’t be choosing this option because I purely listen to game OSTs and would prefer not to be heavily judged for listening to what’s considered by many on the outside to be an incoherent mess of robot beeps and lasers.

So that got me thinking; if you had one shot and ONE shot only to convince people that game music can be a respectable art, which track would you choose? I’m split, so I’ll respond in a few minutes, but I’m interested to see where people go with this one. Remember, the goal is to convince whoever’s listening that it’s a respectable substitute for popular music, or whatever other kind of music.

    Reply
      • I follow, but I don’t mean that. I feel that a certain sentiment exists outside video game fans that game music is all robot beeps and laser sounds, or a loop of a thirty second jingle or something like that. My point is to prove that listening to game music is just like listening to popular music, and just as respectable, because it’s got a negative connotation (let’s be honest).

        Reply
    • For my personal answer, let me preface with this: no matter how hard you try, you can never force somebody to fully understand the emotions and the experience that a specific piece conveys to you. Although it’s thought of an weird, people who listen to regular music, people who listen to play or movie soundtracks, and people who listen to game OSTs all listen for the same reason– because that piece carries an emotion or an experience for them. For regular music, that happens to be because that music helped you through a time of your life, or simply because the music has a pleasurable or desired feeling for the situation. But for video games, however, that experience is relayed through the game itself. I remember the moment in the game the track played– and the emotions I felt at that moment in the game are what stick with me for the track.

So regardless of what you listen to, it’s all for the same reason– the emotion or experience it carries.

Now that I’ve said this is going to be ineffective, I think this piece from Xenoblade 2 does a fantastic job of portraying game music as art: Uraya Day.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpwK15RNBLI
Like I’ve said, it’s only as good as the experience it carries, whether it be through memory or through the sound itself. And for this one, it perfectly fits a journey through a glowing swamp inside a giant whale (it’s the one on the boxart).

    • Listen I know it’s becoming a joke that I gush about Hollowknight every time I open my mouth but I need to hand it to Hollowknight. Now you got me stuck between two tracks but since one of them I just heard the other day, and one of them is a track I’ve been listening to since I first heard it on loop, I’m going to go with City of Tears because I have more to say
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdymSWWQ5G4

Now I’m not a music critic, all of my knowledge of music theory comes from Sideways on Youtube. But I will try my best to explain my feelings on this piece and sound pretentious af will doing so.

Transitions between areas in Hollowknight usually have the music from your previous area fade out the further you walk away from it as the colors transition to the pallet of the next. This allows that area to introduce itself while it has your full attention.

So as you enter City of Tears, the music starts up slowly with an underlying series of notes that imply a soft almost playful atmosphere countered by strings that play a melancholy melody. You are told musically that this place isn’t the wild caverns you fought through before, but a safer space. Yet within that, it is still the peak of a civilization that has been lost.
The underlying notes compliment the sound of constant rain and as you dive deeper becomes more ominous when greeted with deadly foes before coming back to peacefulness.
Instruments change depending on what part of the city you are in proving a new feel for that section.
But where this all culminates is when you approach the founding holding a statue of the Hollowknight
      https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e399138a6eb3793cd7c0f0c2f9d96276c6420bd74a5ab7983013430938a9b855.png
A soft voice enters the main melody heightening this moment. This is a significant story moment as you are suddenly made more aware of your purpose being called back to this land.

The track is beautiful and provides so much of the atmosphere. When I heard it, it was sealed for me that it would be one of my favorite games.

  19. So based on the most recent poster for the anime it seems like the Necrozma stuff will be exclusive to the show itself. Certainly seems like they’re rushing through a lot of content. Rushing enough that it would surprise me if the Switch game was able to come out in 2019 fall. Otherwise it wouldn’t make much sense to rush all this content in the anime. Something seems fishy.

    Reply
    • I don’t think they expected the Switch game to take until 2019 so they rushed it and they are probably panicking now. They do still have ‘Ula ‘Ula to do and if they have to, they’ll pull a BW and make a filler season

      Reply
      • the anime team goes pretty in line with what TPC and GF tell them to do. Seems unlikely they wouldn’t know the general timeline for how production was going. Also for them to rush through all of gen 7’s content just to get to a massive filler arc it’d be ridiculous. If at this point they were told that the game was coming late 2019 then they would have already slowed their roll for the pacing. They can get through Ula’ula in no time at all. They could honestly get through the remaining trials in like a month if they wanted to. They blasted through Akala after all. I doubt they’ll do a filler arc like they did in BW. I think the game is coming out at latest early 2019 and that’s why they’re rushing all this content. Otherwise it wouldn’t make sens to be advertising Necrozma just yet.

  21. So in an update to that Direct situation, there might seriously be another one this Thursday. Crazy I know, but I think it might actually happen. From what this person on ResetEra has been saying, it will 1) Be shorter in length than the Direct Mini, 2) Not focus on a particular game or series, 3) Not reveal Fire Emblem on Switch and 4) Relate to “games and accessories”. They’re also claiming the big Direct we’re all waiting for will be in February and include that announcement along with Dragon Quest XI and many others, of course. Now to me, this sounds like a Direct to re-reveal the Switch Online service, but they’ve never ever done something like that before. So far, 2018 has been a bit of a trailblazer for Nintendo so none of this seems outlandish to me. Maybe, just maybe, it’s something to do with Nintendo’s QOL service? I dunno, we’re in anything goes territory here. Here’s the person’s Twitter in case someone wants to do some research: https://mobile.twitter.com/theprinceofiris

      • I have a theory, now it’s nothing more than a pipe dream but hear me out. If it’s about “games and accessories”, it may reveal an accessory for the Switch like the ones Kimishima mentioned were in development back in 2016. And they would have to show at least one game that uses this new accessory. And there’s a certain franchise which pioneered the e-Reader on the GameCube, helped market the Wii Speak on the Wii and used the amiibo reader on both the Wii U and 3DS…

    Smash port (Summer 2018)
    Arms 2 (Late 2018)
Mario Super Strikers 3 (Late 2018)
SU: Protect the Light port (Spring 2018)
Super Mario Maker Switch (Christmas 2018)
    And Finally
Overwatch Switch (Christmas 2018) (unlikely, I know)

  23. With how fast the anime is moving it’s looking more and more likely that the switch game will release this year. Exciting times ahead for the Pokémon community by looks of it.

  24. My predictions for the Pokémon series for next few years. May be wrong but whatever
2018- generation 8 games(with how things are going in the anime it makes sense to me)
2019- break year maybe a mystery dungeon game on switch
    2020- gen 4 remakes
    2021- gen 9 or gen 1 remakes/sequels
I did this due to boredom lol what does everyone else think?

  25. I think I firgured out part of why I dont really like the Alola region: the routes are super boring. The towns are generally all great, but getting there is a slog

      • I think it depends on the person and the hype season. Because so much of Gen V were leaks and we weren’t totally spoiled about everything, I loved Gen V even more than the hype season. BW2 hype season was something totally new and exciting.

Gens VI and VII were defo examples of hype > product

    • I think that’s likely because once we get the games we already know a bunch about it. If they kept most things a secret then the games would be more exciting for you I’d guess.

    • I am mainly excited about seeing the starters lol I plan to leave this time once that happens! Try to stay spoiler free and pick my starter not knowing what to expect ^.^ I want the feeling I had with gen 4 again!

  26. Fun little world building fact
To become a member of Team Grandeur, one of my fangame teams, you must be able to perform sleight of hand.
Additionally, Morelull , Zorua, and Ledian are the three most common Pokemon grunts on the team recieve

  29. I’m a bit upset yet motivated at the same time. I got all the way to the end of Chapter 9 in Xenoblade 2 and realized that I’m heavily under leveled and outclassed for the boss. It’s easily going to take me another 10+ hours of gameplay to get high enough. It’s disheartening but also makes it feel so engaging. (Please play it, whoever you are. It’s singlehandedly made me interested in these kinds of games).

    • how underleveled? what level are the enemies? I’m in C5 and feel bad because I accidentally overleved to around lvl 50 using the Inns.

      Reply
      • I’m only level 61 and the boss is level 68/69. I have no idea how I made it this far since I’ve basically always been under leveled compared to the bosses, but now it’s seriously getting worrisome.

          • Nope, I’ve just been gathering them in the background this whole time pretty much. I probably have multiple levels worth of EXP there, but I just need to do it.

          • did you know if you complete the Affinity of a Blade you get items? I’ve only completed low Rarity Common ones but they give you items that give you a whopping 1000 Weapon Points, AND THAT’S A WEAK EFFECT.

          • No I had no idea, but I should have suspected that! There are so many elements of this game that I haven’t touched on yet, and I was hoping I could breeze through the main story before delving deeper into it post-game. It was working very well…up until now, that is.

  30. Anyone expecting some big changes to their life or to any of the franchises they’re following this year? How do you feel about them?

How would you feel if Pokemon is revealed this year?

    Reply
    • I’m expecting some big changes to animal crossing and also the MCU with Avengers 3. As for my life, I’d like to have a better paying job and be living on my own later this year.

    • Well Doctor Who is at the beggining of a new era this year, with it getting a new showrunner again. Many changes to the format, look and so on. And It’s having the first female Doctor so there’s that.
I don’t know if that counts, but one show I know I’ll be really into that starts this year is the Titans tv show, based on the Teen Titans/Titans DC comics.

I’d be happy and hyped, but kinda dissapointed if it’s coming out this year. Could mean another XY.

    • I’m not expecting changes in my life I actually want some tbh, idk in what way actually. If a new FF is revealed in 2018 ( I can only wish) then I guess that would have a big change, like they’ll probably do a better FFXV or something completely different.

Well that depends on what is revealed and how so

      Reply
      • I HATE FFXV. I can understand the love of the Chocobros but as a Game It makes me burn with Rage that I own it and I can’t even trade it in on Amazon.

        • Yeah the way the story is executed absolutely blows, but gameplay is mostly fine aside from a few quirks ( repetitive missions, fake difficulty if not at all sometimes, not being turn based)

          • I got pissed at it for the Skill Tree Whatever and how I hit a point of no return(for a while) after like an hour in an Open(Empty) World Game.

          • and then I stopped and was Pissed because I wasted a Gift slot for Christmas on it, I still get Mad Because it’s still Here and I have no way of getting rid of it for a reasonable price.

    • changes I have planned this year are learning to drive, get a better job and keep losing weight. Not sure what will happen in my life besides that. Will just have to wait and see. And I am excited to see the new starters mainly then I will drop off to not see anything else

  31. Just something I wanted to share with you guys. Don’t know if you saw the latest poster for the anime but apparently all the UBs, Necrozma Forms, Acerola and Nanu will all appear in the anime soon.
Now considering that what we miss from the game are is just Hapu and Mina (which probably will be ignored as always), my question is:

Do you guys really believe that this anime could go on for two more years? Because if Gen 8 will be out in late 2019, the Anime has to go on at least until November 2019.
I don’t know what to think cause in the last months the anime is going really fast and also I don’t think Ash is going to fight all the trials that were in the game because it seems it is only getting the Z-crystals he needs for his team and when Acerola and Nanu are done basically he just needs to find Hapu and defeat the League.

  32. I hope Gen 8 is India based and we get Gen 2 regional forms, just so a new Dex entry can explain the ”Indian Elephant” dex entry

  33. Ash might get an UB but lets not forget that the writers will bring back Tobias who’ll own Zeraora and Ultra Necrozma and wipe the floor with Ash in the league final.

  35. Anyone want to help me with a strategy for Totem Lurantis in my wonderlocke? The best bet I have is Flechinder, but it’s frail and it’s a pretty integral member of my team so I don’t want to lose it.
    -Miltank
    -Boldore
    -Flechinder
    -Brionne
    -Grovyle
    -Axew

I was thinking start the battle out with a fire z move from Flechinder but then switch when it summons Kecleon since it has ancient power. Maybe move tutor fire punch onto Miltank? Basically only it and Axew are the only other pokemon I can use.

    • Can’t you do the trial of creative cloud? Unless you’ve already done that you should be able to do that without having to pay. That said $20 isn’t too bad considering you’ll be able to play around with Photoshop for about a month and see if you like it.

      Reply
      • I didn’t see anything called creative cloud, but I can keep looking

Also do I just need to make it and then turn it into an image and save it? If so then I’ll just use my school which has photoshop and save the image

        • Creative cloud is their all encompassing set of programs. So you’d get access to everything including PS, After Effects, and premiere. As well as many others. They should have a trial button on their website. I’d say type in the key words “adobe trial” into google and see what it gives you

    • It’s professional software that’s the best in its class period, continuously supported and used worldwide by millions of users. The license is a steal if you need the program actually, versions of PS used to cost upwards of $1000.

  37. I’m very curious about these supposed Switch accessories aimed toward attracting the “casual audience” if they’re revealed this Thursday. It all seems so bizarre and out of place, considering that we don’t have any big first-party announcements yet this year, but I’m sure Nintendo has their reasons. I’m thinking this video, whatever form it will take, might show a few seconds of footage of games that are coming out this year and next to be revealed in full at a later date (maybe Animal Crossing, probably new IPs, who knows?) I go back to school next Monday, which I’m having trouble believing…I’ve never felt so unprepared in my life…but I’m happy all of this is happening before then!
