Pokémon Crystal to be Released on Virtual Console

As many speculated when Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver were released on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console last year, fans will get a chance to re-play the classic Pokémon Crystal as well.

Set for a release on January 26, 2018, it will include the ability to deposit caught Pokémon in Pokémon Bank and transfer them to Gen VII games. The re-release of Crystal will also allow players to encounter the legendary Celebi!

I, for one, am massively excited! The animated sprites of Crystal are some of the most iconic in the series. It also finally let you choose the gender of your trainer at the outset of your adventure! This will be a great way to start 2018 for trainers across the world!

  1. Nymphmare
    Fairy/Ghost
A horse like pokemon, it is said it will rarely appear in the nightmares of children to whisk them away from the horror, eating their fear away.
(This is very preliminary and the idea came from Earthens fakemon below).

  2. Crypkid
    Ghost/Dark
    Cursed Body/Infiltrator
“What looks like a new born is actually an empty pupa. It doesn’t breathe nor eat, but gathers energy to evolve inside, which can take up to one hundred years.”

    Temshee
    ”temperance+banshee”
    Fairy/Dark
    Regenerator/Triage
“It has a beautiful singing voice and sings songs to mourn the dead as well as to celebrate the living. Its screams are said to be terrible though and able to kill.”

Evolves from Crypkid starting at lv 33 after fainting

  3. Name: Astik
    Type: Grass/Normal
    Ability: Wimp Out/Defeatist/Run Away
    Gender: 100% Male

This Pokémon is scared of what everyone thinks of it, so it lays down and plays stick. You can tell it’s not a real stick by how bent it is, even though it tries to straighten itself out.

At Level 18 it evolves into

    Name: Bundlstik
    Type: Grass/Fairy
    Ability: Infiltrator/No Guard/Magic Guard

Astik’s body has grown awkwardly and it now looks like a pile of Astik constantly moving. Because of how hard it is for it to move, it lets out low, mellow cries. It’s a lot more confident around certain individuals.

When traded with the Grassy Weave, it evolves into

    Name: Phantastik
    Type: Grass/Fairy/Fairy
    Abiltiy: Tangling Hair/No Guard/Something Fishy*

By putting on a wig, Bundlstik got itself together and turned its bundle of sticks into a more humanoid body. It has habits that resemble that of female humans.

*Can use gender based moves on any Pokémon, as long as they don’t have Oblivious.

    • They def should’ve done that, but that’s a cosmetic thing. Like I wanted content content. Battle frontier, gym leader rematches, a better contest system that isn’t 99% luck based unless you’re using broken Claydol

        • No, they really don’t. Hopefully for the **Platinum** remake they will include it (since I’m through with their two games bull that won’t work on the Switch). Also I really think changing the contest system should be a top priority in a Sinnoh remake. It’s boring and frustrating with 0 payoff. You seriously don’t get anything good from doing contests. The best ORAS gave us was locking tradable mega stones behind master rank contests. How lame. That and making the underground more fun and less confusing/less grid based, completely redoing the honey on trees thing that takes way too long to summon a pokemon and where some of them are just too rare. Also keeping the battle frontier.

      • Claydol is broken in contests?
Yea contests were cool and all but they are very luck based especially in ORAS when you can use any move. it iwas highly luck based in RSE though so maybe thats just the style of contests.

        • Claydol is broken AF. Practically guaranteed the win almost every time.

I just don’t find them fun especially when someone swoops in and steals my 5 stars..I want contests to be more like the anime where actual skill is needed. Where it’s about what your pokemon can create and even how they perform in battle. So I say revamp them or cut them altogether and replace them with a more fun variant. Pokeathlon is 1000x better

Faeoal (Faerie+Foal, meant to sound like fail)
    Type: Fairy
Ability: Early Bird/Sweet Veil HA:Cute Charm
“This pokemon isn’t very good at running or even standing yet, so it just frolics in the background of children’s dreams where it can barely be noticed or remembered upon awakening.”
“It has tiny wing buds on its’ back, the closer it is to evolving the more they start to unfurl.”
The tail is like a feather on a string. It has a short fluffy mane. The hooves are like little marshmallow clouds.
    Evolve (might be at night)
Nymphmare (Nymph + Mare, a play on Nightmare)
    Type: Fairy/Ghost

  11. If 2018 does have a new gen, here’s what I hope it’d be:

Name: Pokémon Amber and Pokémon Amethyst (returning to the gem-based names from 2-4)

Region: Madria (named after Madrid, capital of Spain)

    Based on: Spain

    # of Pokémon: ~90-100 (too little would make it unmemorable, too many would make it feel like another revamp of G1)

Plot: You, the main character, arrive here from Sinnoh. Upon arrival, you learn that you have been requested to meet with the region’s professor, Professor Olive (named after Olive Trees). She is young with a clear hispanic influenced look, sporting a cool purple-orange mixture (based on Amber and Amethyst). She appears to be talking with Cynthia, who also had arrived from Sinnoh. They then give you a chance to pick one of the 3 Pokémon starters; Flamencia, the Flamenco Flamingo Pokémon (Fire type), Dolfi, the Dolphin Pokémon (Water type) and Maura, the Floral Donkey Pokémon (Grass type). Afterwards you encounter your rival, which would be the opposite gender character (ex. male character will be Grayson, female character will be Sophia). The rival would choose the Pokemon weak to yours, however later on would gain a strong move that’s strong against your Pokémon. Afterwards, you’re told about the 8 Gyms, along with the 4 Spirits Challenges, exclusive to that region. There’d also be a threat, called Team Ladino, who threatens the region with turning it into their own paradise. After going through the 8 Gyms (element order: Poison, Electric, Grass, Ground, Flying, Fairy, Psychic, Dragon) and 4 Spirit Challenges (Fire’s Burst; Tapu Flafa, Water’s Gush; Acoral, Ghost’s Haunting; Poltergas, Bug’s Bite, Monarchee). Afterwards you’re put to the challenge by the Team Ladino boss and infiltrate their area yada, yada, then go to the League and battle the Elite Four (Dragon – Ryuki, Grass – Abigail, Poison – Harriet, Fire – Combustorr) and the Champion, which is revealed to be your rival. After wards you go ahead and heal, then battle Cynthia, who’s considered “The Ambassador of Sinnoh”. You’ll receive the 9th badge known as the “Sinnoh-Madria Friendship Badge” and gain access to Sinnoh. You’ll be able to visit ~3 special cities which would come into play in the Gen 4 remakes.

    • Beginning plot is too similar to gen 7. Sinnoh also gets shoehorned in for absolutely no reason, considering you later say that Gen 4 remakes would be coming out…
Probably not a good idea to have the “threatening evil team” named “Ladino”, for obvious reasons. Team goal is also cliched
Spirit Challenges seem interesting, but the return of Tapu naming doesn’t make sense
      No Dark type gym still
      Dragon gym and Dragon E4
      New names are, well, bad
Lol gaining access to Sinnoh…especially when it would be remade later.

      Reply
      • Well I’m not good at making names and it’s just a rough concept of how i’d like it. For the team I just want them to do something like harness the Spirits and transform the land into their vision and make it into a fiery scape where they all obey under the Fire types rule. Plus, Dark-type should take a break and I’ll just replace the Dragon gym with an Ice gym.
