Showdown: Villainous Teams — Round II Grunts & Admin

Showdown is back and better than ever! For those that don’t know what our Showdown series is, or need a reminder: Showdown is where we hold a series of polls on our site and ask readers to vote for their top choice until we found our champion.

Voting periods will run for one week at a time and new rounds will begin on the following dates:

Round I: Leaders — December 2nd
Round II: Grunts & Admin — December 11th
Round III: Plans — December 16th
Round IV: Overall — December 23rd
Winner Announcements — December 30th

The results for Round I: Leaders are in! We’re happy to announce that the winner of the first round of our latest Showdown is… Cyrus, Leader of Team Galactic! Cyrus ended up with only a slight 2% lead over Giovanni of Team Rocket. Full results can be found below!

Note: Ghetsis and Colress have been combined into one percentage and will be counted as such for final vote counts.

In Round II everyone will be voting on their top Grunts and/or villains of teach team. Grunts are often some of the most commonly met trainer types in our Pokémon adventures. Admins provide support to Team Leaders and can prove quite a challenge in battle. Remember you’re voting for your favourite overall choice and a vote for Team Magma counts as a vote for both Third Generation and Sixth Generation iterations, for example.

Team Rocket

Admin members: Archer, Ariana, Petrel and Proton

Team Rocket’s admin staff are classified as Executive Trainers. These trainers all do their best to stop trainers in their attempts to foil the plans of Team Rocket, with challenging battle and no limit to the execution of their plans.

Grunts of Team Rocket are often considered fairly easy opponents, with a limited set of Pokémon used on their teams they rarely pose a true threat to trainers. Rocket Grunts seemed to have their appearance based on that of a typical cartoon criminal.

Team Magma

Admin members: Courtney and Tabitha

The two Admin members of Team Magma both play large roles in assisting Maxie to achieve his plans for Team Magma and the Pokémon world. Team Magma Grunts and Admin are mostly themed around the colour red, with no other obvious influences.

Team Aqua

Admin members: Matt and Shelly

Matt and Shelly play the same roles as Courtney and Tabitha: assisting their team leader in achieving their goals. The entirety of Team Aqua has their aesthetics themed around pirates, particularly their outfits.

Team Galactic

Admin members: Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Charon

Admin members of Team Galactic fall under the Commander trainer class. Each Commander of Team Galactic is named after an object within our solar system. All members of Team Galactic wear outfits that are visually like spacesuits, this results in people who unaware of the team to refer to them as spacemen.

Team Plasma

Admin members: Seven Sages, Zinzolin, Shadow Triad

Team Plasma is the only villainous group to have two groups of individuals who act as the higher members of their team. Both groups are loyal to their leader. Plasma member are themed around two distinct themes: in Black and White they appear to have had their appearance influenced by Medieval Knights, whilst in Black 2 and White 2 they have strong classical pirate influences.

Team Flare

Admin members: Aliana, Bryony, Celosia, Mable, Xerosic, Team Flare Admins

Team Flare Admins are extremely relentless in their attempts to halt the player in foiling the plans of their leader Lysandre. Each of these members are likely named in reference to classification of solar flares. All members of Team Galactic are seen as highly fashionable and well dressed.

Team Skull

Admin members: Plumeria

Plumeria is the single admin member of Team Skull and the only character with the Team Skull Admin trainer class. Team Skull is formed of members who failed the Island Challenge in the Alola region. They are the only villainous team to now have a distinct goal other than causing trouble.

  1. My friend in Animation and I have struck the f*cking gold mine of ideas

We are going to make for our animation club, the revolutionary war with birds

The British Seagulls colonized America, but now Turkey’s want to be free in this land so the war begins. (The French are Chickens because originally it was about World War 2, and they surrendered)

  2. You’re the hero of an anime.

    Who’s your villain?
    Who’s your rival?
    What’s your goal?
    What’s your weapon?
    What’s your powers?

    • Syringe Stab – Stab the foe with the rapier before using it to conduct acid into the wound

Corrosive Shield – Form a protective vortex of corrosive liquid

Seaside Spring – Generate HCl and NaOH to neutralise eachother and form a crap ton of salty water (even tho NaCl is table salt and not sea salt but w/e)

  4. Accckk you unleashed my inner nerd!!!!
    More of my powers

Rock Shot: Standard rock projectile I create in my palm
Fault Line: sends out a traveling splintering fissure that causes anyone who steps on them to sink into the cracks (when I practice I send geothermal pulses)
Stone Blades: my forearms generates a thick tonfa like slabs of rock (they break after a few good hits)
Boulder Bolt: I focus my rock shot into a large cluster of rocks into a large boulder it’s much heavier but causes major damage
Grip of Gaia: I focus my power on a cluster of stones that form a large hand which I can use to crush and squeeze my opponents (requires a lot of concentration)

my hammer is pseudo-mechanical and has some powers

Hammer Drill: the head gyrates and spins like a drill boring through most stone

Cudgel Cannon: a hatch opens on the head where I can scoop rocks into it and if I use the hammer drill the rocks heat up, melt and compress into a single shot bazooka

Flail: the shaft can collapse and have a chain tethered to it

    Lastly power moves!
Greater Elemental Form: a hulking stone form where I have enhanced strength and defense, and I can curl into a boulder and roll around
Continental Chaos: I cause a swirling sinkhole around the area, the power of this drags victims underground and swiftly grinds them to dust and suffocates them
And when I’m pissed off beyond my limit
Ragnarock! My burning fury causes a violent maelstrom of molten rock to rain hellfire on all that meet my gaze (causes incomprehensible strain on body death is likely to follow)

    • What are some of your weaknesses? I just find it interesting seeing how people incorporate flaws into their designs

I can immediately see you’d have trouble against a flying foe if they can outmaneuver your projectiles for instance

      • Because I like to keep in mind powers have limits, restrictions and weaknesses

My biggest flaw is faster smarter more mobile opponents
I am a hulking man giant with slow heavy blows and nimble foes can easily target my exposed body

Also my powers require me to be physically touching the ground, if I’m airborne or suspended in the air I can’t even move a pebble or cup of dirt

    • Corrosive Blade – A concentrated high pressure stream of corrosive liquid that can cut through nearly not made to defend against powers.

Containment Corrosives – Vortexes or orbs of corrosive liquid that have pHs much closer to 7, meaning that they’re more irritants than anything. Can be used to hold the enemy in place.

Liquefy – Turn into liquid to escape, can be fatal if enough acid is losses that I can’t form my vital body parts.

Acid Amplification – Can restore mass to my body by absorbing corrosive liquids, but I can’t exceed my ‘natural mass’ at that given time. Known as ‘Base Boost’ when utilised with a chemical that is a base or had basic properties.

Neutral Beatdown – Makes one fist made of liquid acid, another of liquid base, and smashes then together with amazing force which hurts the opponent quite badly.

Acid Rain – Strong skill, needs time and effort put in to make a corrosive shower.

Acidic Apocalypse – A stronger version of Acid Rain which is extremely devastating to the surrounding area, can result in major pain for the user.

    • Normal Powers: Standard stuff
Shadow Hold- By staring directly at the shadow of a foe, that foe will be held in place for a few moments
Submerge/Emerge- Can sink into shadows and reappear within another, regardless of what it belongs to
Shadow strike- My shadow will copy my every move. If it hits the shadow of another foe, it can damage them
Shadow flash- Can utilize my own shadow to create a momentary shadowy burst that does minimal damage but works as a smoke screen
Healing unity- Sinks into my own shadow into another shadowy dimension. This acts as a recovery for my essence.
Shadow Sink: Appears out of the opponents shadow and pulls them into it, causing the foe to instantly perish. The pull is very slow and relatively easy to break out of so the foe usually needs to be already hurt badly for this to work
      Shadow bolt- Relatively explanatory
Shadow Dome- quickly puts a dome on myself which blocks a large amount of attacks

Reserves: Requires me to use the essence of my shadow.
Shadow Sap: Can quickly drain a bit of the energy from someone’s shadow and re purpose it to either heal another or myself. I can also do this with my own essence.
Shadow kinetics- When a foe utilizes an element and misses, I can tap into my own essence to quickly send back a shadowy version of that attack. the stronger the attack, the worse the drain on my essence
Physical repair- Essentially restores any physical injury I have for the price of some of my essence. This means unless my shadow essence is destroyed, my body can regenerate a lot.

      Special attacks: Well
Duality: Combines with my own shadow e to create a single united form. While my attacks become incredibly strong (overwhelming really) I am much more susceptible to damage in this form considering my essence is fully exposed rather than being blocked.
Shadow Refresh-A full heal to both the body and essence. Extremely hard to pull off and is rarely powered up enough to use
Ultimatum Shadow- Drawing power from my essence, a shadowy dome is created around the entire area in fighting in. Enemies are caught within storms of shadows which overload their bodies until nothing remains. Makes m incredibly weak afterward
Strengths: Damage and mobility are off the charts. Healing and evasive options are very strong. Decent strategist
Weakness: Aiming for my shadow will deal heavy damage. In general, fire does large damage to both my forms

    • I have no idea why there’s so much gen 4 merch going out, but you aren’t going to get your gen 4 remakes for at least another 3-4 years I think. We’ll get a brand new gen before that ever happens. Gen 4 will get a remake and it’s likely to be on the Switch, but not until they make the jump first with a brand new game.

      • BOTW development started in late 2012 i think? We’ve no idea how long GF have been working on their next Pkmn project. Just because gen 7 was done in 2,5 years doesnt mean they havent been working on other projects tbf

        • True, but that doesn’t explain them releasing merchandise. Regardless of how long the spend on development the first Switch won’t be a remake. Also as it stands the Switch game prolly won’t make release until 2019. They’d then have to wait until 2020 at earliest to release a gen 4 remake. That’s 2 to 3 years away. Maybe even 4 depending on how things go. The merch is a weird ting to be releasing now when DP remakes aren’t coming for a long while.

It’s still causing me so much trouble when keeping me logged in every time I refresh the page or comments and every time I try to upload a photo it’ll either say it’s too big or I must be logged on I just don’t understand why EVERYTHING has to be a hassle

  9. So… I feel like Ash is most likely to catch Drampa or Minior Next. Sure Jangmo loves to battle.. but. . He already has several hardcore dragons.. plus it’s final design.. isn’t so appealing to me. I dunno
