Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You!

  • For those in the UK, show timings for the 20th Anniversary film have been revealed on the official Fathom Events website – book your tickets fast, theaters are filling up quickly!

Pokémon Gold & Silver

  • In this week’s Nintendo Direct it was revealed that those who purchase the re-release of the games on the Virtual Console anytime from today until September 21st, 2018 will receive a serial code to redeem a Celebi in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. This Celebi will come at lvl. 30 and know the moves Heal Bell, Safeguard, Ancient Power, and Future Sight. In addition, if you download the games before January 15th, 2018 in North America (before December 31st, 2017 in the Europe, before September 28th, 2018 in Japan) you’ll also receive a special Pokémon Gold or Pokémon Silver theme for your 3DS
  • Pokémon Bank compatibility for the games have been given a “Winter 2017” release date

Pokémon Sun & Moon

  • For those in Japan, a serial code for a Shiny Silvally will be given out to those who pre-order copies of Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon at various stores (such as Pokémon Centers) from September 22nd to October 16th. This Shiny Silvally will come at Lvl. 100, holding a Gold Bottle Cap, know the moves Multi-Attack, Parting Shot, Punishment, and Scary Face, and will only be able to be redeemed in your Pokémon Sun & Moon games until November 16th, 2017
  • For those in America, a special Charizard will be distributed via code at Target stores across North America from October 1st to October 14th. It will come holding a Red Card at lvl. 50 with the moves Dragon Dance, Flare Blitz, Fly and Earthquake. No international distributions of this even have been announced as of yet

Pokémon GO

Magikarp Jump

  • Version 1.3.2 is now available for the mobile game! This update fixes multiple bugs and allows you to clear the game’s cache. Launching the game for the first time after you update will reward you with 10 Diamonds

Pokémon Duel

  • Version 4.0.3 is now available for the popular mobile game! This update includes various bug fixes and the introduction of Gen VII Pokémon figures into the game

Pokémon Shuffle

  • The following stages are available to play until September 26th: Silvally, Turtonator, Celebi, and Slaking
  • A special stage to get the Porygon-Z (normally found in Expert stages) has begun and runs until September 19th
  • A Mega Alakazam competitive stage has begun and runs until September 19th. Only Neutral and Not Very Effective Pokémon are allowed in this competition. Top player rewards include a Alakazite (or Max Level if you already have the Mega Stone), Mega Speedups, Max Levels, and more!

  1. Quick note about the Shiny Silvally distribution: We’ll probably get the event around November. Since this Silvally ties in with the upcoming TCG set which came out in Japan on Friday, and will be making it stateside in November.

  5. TBH I really like the weekly update – obvious system in retrospect but the perfect rate for this tiny stuff to be delivered at, and I really like how it’s formatted! (Much easier on the eyes than scouring serebii hahahaha) So gj ozy!! :3c or however many of youse thought to put it together

  6. This is a bit of a cliche question, but favorite Overwatch hero?

    Mine’s Zenyatta, I’m able to find a great balance in support, healing, and offense with him. It just works really well with my play style.

    4. Victory Road/League: It sounds triumphant and stuff…
    3. Lavender Town: It’s infamous for a reason kids. I mean this version is crap compared to HGSS’s version or even Gold and Silver’s but still
    2. Cinnabar Island: This one just sounds so peppy and great and I love it….. that’s all… Kanto’s music isn’t exactly complex
    1. Pokemon Tower: This soundtrack is noice and spoopy. It honestly sounds pretty decent and is one of the few songs in this game I give a damn about. Legit this theme doesn’t get enough credit

  14. Star, you have to tell me if Metroid is really worth it! I’m still on the fence, but it’s more a money issue (I do have the money, but it’s better to spend it wisely and there’s so much stuff still coming out.)

    • It is fantastic! I really liked Metroid 2 but it was held back by the hardware. Samus Returns takes it and brings all the potential it had out in a great way.

      Combat is fun. 360 degree aiming and melee attacks spice up battles and just make you feel like a badass.

      Planet SR388 strikes a balance between mysterious, spooky and oddly beautiful. The backgrounds are amazing to look out and sometimes have things happening that you may miss if you don’t look.

      It is so worth it. But of course make sure you can eat 😛

      • The eating part was a joke. It’s just that I really want Odyssey and the LE Xenoblade, and probably will buy UltraMoon. Couple that with Stardew/Rocket League still having to come out and maybe Skyrim. Arrrgh. So many games, so little time and money…

  19. Why can’t I catch a break?!

    I’m failing Chemestry because my teacher keeps giving me failing grades in the labs

    My grade would raise if she would stop putting me with the dumb f*ck jocks who think doing the bare minimum is ok

    I sometimes wish I could do the labs and experiments alone (it seems when I work in a group I end up doing all the work and the partner or members slow me down, example: my health project due tomorrow I had to redo all today because my group doesn’t understand the instructions)

    • Talk to your teacher about it. I’m sure they’ll be understanding. I was in a similar situation and got a 30% on a group quiz in a math class once because my partners kept harassing me (I’m dyslexic. If I can’t read the question, I can’t do the problem. If you talk to me while I’m reading, I can’t read the question). I explained the situation to her and she let me make it up alone. Hopefully your teacher will consider your situation and put you with competent group members. Though, you shouldn’t blame her for the grades you receive (e.g., “…keeps giving me failing grades…”). She’s just grading your work based on what she sees. If she doesn’t know there’s a problem, there’s no reason to grade it differently.

  23. Thinking of going to see the movie at the cinema, my Dad lives fairly near and might be able to drop me there, I’ll probably be on my own but I guess that’s fine. I haven’t seen a Pokemon movie in the cinema since the first one and I’d like to experience it again.
    I want those Apricorn Balls, a Decidueye line of figures like the Incineroar one and those Ghost type glass topper thingies.
    If I get a VC Gen 2 game at all it’ll be if and when Crystal comes, I have them all on emulator and played Silver on cartridge many years ago so it’s not like I’ll be missing much.

  27. When I read some alchemy I had been noticed something could be represent the black hole (I was post Necrozma- black hole theory before) here the lion being devoured by a toad and being absorbed into a set of concentric circles that suggest the moon (The jar represent the moon).

  28. Just saw IT. Pretty great movie! It’s not scary per say, but it’s certainly a good movie. Had some funny parts and some good jump scares. Really looking forward to part 2 next year.

  33. We got a good bit of info this week. I wonder if they could reveal jotho alolan forms next Friday to coincide with the gold and silver vgc games? Probably not but would be cool if it happened. Btw has anyone else gotten metroid samus returns yet? Picked it up Friday and it’s pretty good so far!

      • That would kind of suck. Would love to get alolan forms for them but at the same time I want Megas lol and I really hope Megas aren’t dead.

        • They really just need to pick who gets megas more carefully. None for the pseudos. But unfortunately I don’t know if we’ll ever get any more. My problem with the Johto starters getting them is that it’ll change their designs and stuff, when I’d rather have megas build upon them..

          • I wish milotic had gotten one too actually. Could have been either water/fairy or water/psychic to be a counterpart to mega gyrados

          • same here. Wallace was a huge character so for him to not get a mega milotic was insane. they introduced the altaria girl who was such a small character but altaria got a mega yet the flygon guy that was new didnt get mega flygon

          • i completely agree. I want more less used pokemon that have potential to have megas not the already greatly used and strong pokemon

          • Funny thing is ones like Garchomp are still better non-Mega since they can better use other items and in Garchomps’ case higher speed.

          • exactly!!! so why waste a mega on an already great pokemon instead of giving it to a pokemon that wasn’t lucky enough to get an evo or anything? One big thing I’m hoping for in gen 8 is cross region evolutions. Let gen 8 be double what gen 4 was. There are so many deserving pokemon

          • Really though there are some that should probably evolve again before going Mega. It’s why I kind of have an issue with Mawile getting a Mega instead of just evolving.

          • yeah i agree. to me tho i thought mawile seemed right to have just a base form but yeah a lot of pokemon should have evolutions. and when i say cross region i dont mean take a pokemon i love with great simple design and make it look idiotic

          • Yeah, there are some cross-gen evos from gen 4 I’m not a fan of, at least in comparison to what they evolved from, like Magmortar. I guess that is the small mercy though, at least we haven’t had any terrible new evos of past Pokemon for the past 3 gens (unless someone doesn’t like Sylveon and is wrong). I meant Mawile should just evolve into its’ Mega instead of that being a Mega, but then I guess that would mess up it being Sableyes’ counterpart.

          • yeah i actually really like sylveon mainly cuz of the hype they built for it having people go crazy to figure out what it was.

          • I remember theories that is was Normal which made some sense, Flying which was a bit of a stretch, I think that was to do with Kites and its Ribbons and the name thought to contain ‘Sylph’ an air spirit (which is partly what it is but for the ‘spirit’ not the ‘air’ part), and Bug which was pretty much random except “the bows could be Butterflies” argument.
            In general I just like the design, I hatched a Shiny Female one that I used in my X playthrough.

  34. Idk about anyone else but I’m getting a little annoyed at all the negativity towards people who aren’t that into usum. A lot of people including Joe keep saying its because “new” players want every little detail of the games. This isn’t the case for everyone. For me, I’m still waiting for something that actually looks good to me to really give me a good reason to buy these games. I know that they are enhanced games, thats not the issue. This does not mean spoiler the entire game for me. This means that I do not care for new ultra beasts which are potentially just more boring post game. tbh i want alola to get more itself. while alolan johtos would be cool, i want there to be new pokemon for alola alone, not for it to be overshadowed by new forms of older pokemon.

    • and to those who complain about kanto so much, giving megas to kanto pokemon in gen 6 was a way to pull the older audience into the new games by bringing the older pokemon to life. ALSO, the alolan forms were a way to pay homage to Kanto. Last year is when sun and moon came out. last year was also Pokemon’s 20th anniversary. It was meant to celebrate Kanto. thats why red and blue made an appearance to battle one of them. Thats why Oak got a new relative that looked exactly like him. So the “they are just trying for nostalgia” is just not a good argument anymore.

    • You and I are on the same page. Tbh I felt a little attacked the other night when, again, the news we got failed to impress me. I don’t mean to speak for anyone else, but I think Star feels the same way as well. And it’s not surprising Joe is being an a-hole. I’ve said this before, but it’s not entitled to want GF to give us more than bread crumbs and for them to emulate the quality of their past games.

    • I think whenever Joe calls out fans for acting so negatively to USUM it’s more of to dispel any negative thoughts surrounding pre-release being so terrible by showing a pattern across all 3rd games in the main series and how lack of content revealed in pre-release is incredibly common. Not so much having negative thoughts in general towards USUM being a bad thing. Because based on their one off comments on social media and all, the majority of fans that seem to be pissed at USUM are turned off by it because the pre-release isn’t giving us every little detail and revealing new Pokemon like we had in XY, ORAS and SM.

      Frankly, to a certain extent, I agree with him (although the way he goes about it can be a bit self righteous). We haven’t had any 3rd game pre-release since B2W2 in 2012 – which means we’ve had over half a decade of solid, constant new info revealed per month, per game’s pre-release. Even in ORAS with the inclusion of Mega Evolutions we were getting a “new” ‘mon or two every month. So a lot of fans have either forgotten what 3rd game pre-releases are like, or all together have never experienced it before (depending on how long they’ve been part of the online community).

      So it’s more of a “k you can be hype af for USUM or not – that’s your prerogative – but if you’re going to be negative about the games JUST because we aren’t getting a new Pokemon or new feature reveal every month like we have had for XY, ORAS and SM, then that’s just stupid”

      • and i agree with him to a degree as well its just that its not that we aren’t getting a reveal so often, i think its great that we aren’t getting spoiled cuz no matter how i try, i end up being spoiled for new pokemon games. its just that i want something exciting to come from the enhanced game. its not going to be 100% the same as sun and moon so i want something exciting that isn’t an ultra beast because i did not like ultra beasts.

      • to clarify. I think there should be more of a focus on the new pokemon. not have them appear at 5% rate and some which deserve evolutions or some kind of line didnt get them imo

        • The low encounter rate for some ‘mon like Rockruff, in their own region where they should be more common (especially Rockruff) was pretty ridiculous. Of course there are going to be some new ‘mon that are rarer than others, but not as many as there seemed to be. It makes more sense to do it for later game ‘mon imo, like I was fine with Turtonator being a bit more rare than say a Charjabug.

      • I do get that “this drought is a pattern” with 3rd releases or whatever, but does it have to be? It doesn’t make any sense to me so even if it is to be expected, it really does seem like bad marketing

        • personally i dont care about what they announce every little while but I think the games needed to be announced with a bang. Basically something to tell players “you guys are going to enjoy these games which are potentially our last 3ds Pokemon games” Not that first trailer with the necrozma forms that just dont look that appealing

    • I agree with you. Sure we got a good bit of info on the game this week but st the same time I am not excited like I normally am for a Pokémon game. I am more excited for mario odyssey and he mario and luigi remake right now. Not to mention metroid samus returns which I got Friday and the fact I am paying for a switch that’s on layaway right now. I may pick up USUM when it comes out but it isn’t at the top of my priority list right now. And I get what you mean about joe. I doubt he means to but with how he goes on twitter about people not being excited about USUM makes him come across as a know it all in my personal opinion .

        • I can fully understand why you wouldn’t be too excited because of that. I never got the Wii U so them remaking my favorite mario and luigi game excites me. Hoping that they announce vgc for switch soon. Would love it if I could download some gba and GameCube games in the future.

          • completely agree. and yeah it was annoying to find out but it wasn’t like a bought it the day before they announced the remake. also the new game is on the 3ds which is sorta annoying. Also my favorite mario and luigi game has to be partners in time

          • Partners in time was a really good one too! Probably my second favorite with bowsers inside story right behind it. Paper jam is my least favorite

          • i haven’t even played paper jam because dream team turned me off the series. and I’m not a fan of bowsers inside story. i think its overrated and too simple compared to superstar saga. similar with paper mario. super paper mario was ok as a mario game but not as a paper mario game if this makes sense then sticker star just completely turned me off

          • I mainly loved BIS because of getting to play as bowser plus the return of fawful lol idk why but I have always loved his character since super star saga. And I will admit they didn’t start going slightly downhill with dream team. I think the main thing that bugged me with paperjam was the fact it didn’t have an original villain like the other mario and luigi games. Super star saga had cackletta, partners in time the shroobs, bowsers inside story fawful, dream team had antasma. Then paper jam had paper bowser and bowser. Idk why but it kind of bugged me.

        • For VC? I would have thought so, just not releasing it yet since it really is just a better G/S and they want to sell those, which is less likely if Crystal is there.

          • lol now you have me rethinking buying silver. I just really enjoyed playing Blue on my 3ds that i want to play these games too. Its just fun that they remake the games so you can really replay and see the evolution of pokemon

          • Ah, well I could be wrong and this could be all they release. I go back and play the GB/GBC games on emulator sometimes (I’d play them on cartridge if I could find them), and they are still fun. Of course in emulator I can go at hyper speed, which is good when you’re used to the games being faster to move around in as they are now.

    • Looks legit, but I mean there isn’t anything too special about it so I mean whether or not it is really isn’t the end of the world, in fact that it doesn’t have anything really special about it probably means it is indeed real, but, you never know.

      • The main thing I notice is Lillie has a pokeball. And I have to wonder who the mysterious figures in the background are. I will say though I absolutely love incineroars artwork in this.

        • Yeah I didn’t notice the Pokeball in her hands or the two? three? mysterious figures when I posted. Also when I looked at the larger version the male protagonist’s face looks a little bit off. It is hard to say though. People are REALLY good at fakes.
