New USUM Trailer Revealed [UPD]

As expected, a brand new trailer for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon was released!

The trailer highlights changes to the Alola region itself, as well as new looks for the protagonists. It also briefly shows a look at returning characters, such as the musician Ryuki.

The Japanese trailer also contains a look at the new Z-Power Ring and some new Z-Moves featured in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Watch it below!

[UPD] In addition to the trailer, Clangorous Soulblaze, Kommo-o’s brand new, exclusive Z-Move has been revealed at the opening ceremony of Worlds 2017! This new Z-Move can hit multiple targets, raises all of Kommo-o’s stats by one level, and requires Clanging Scales as its base move. Broken much?

    I guess now we know it’s just a third version and not a sequel. But is there walking with Pokémon? Because you had that scene with the rockruff but then another scene without a Pokémon following you. Can you turn it off? Was that just a cute little environmental thing?

  38. So looking at USUM’s map, it’s possible that the two cloud clusters south east of Poni are obstructing new islands? It’d make sense of we get two new one, because Hawaii has eight islands yet one is private (could this be Aether Paradise’s basis?) and another has no permanent residents.

    So excluding those two, that leaves Hawaii’s six largest islands, Hawai’i (Ula’ula), Maui (Akala), O’ahu (Melemele), and Kaua’i (Poni) and possibly two new ones based on Molokai (which would probably be named after that island’s colour, green, so it’d probably be called a variant of ‘Oma’oma’o) and Lanai (which is orange, or Alani). Although Lani may already be the basis of Exeggutor Island as Lani is’ the pineapple isle’

  52. GUYS To be fair they never once said anything about it being a sequel. If it was then we’d know right off the bat like with BW2. That said I’m still hoping for major changes to the story. It could still be a different game without it being a “sequel”. Either way we have to wait and see.

  68. So seeing how both Necroleo and Necronala are present on the box art and shown SEPARATE from whatever that weird light face it I have to assume it’s a different Pokemon/form entirely. Maybe the two forms really are just Solgaleo and Lunala’s forms and then Necrozma gets its own

  76. Idk now that I have a switch and they’ve revealed the title is coming to that platform, this all just feels like filler. They don’t have any trailers with groundbreaking new stuff. They don’t even seem to have a marketing plan hat is meant to get people excited. The mystery of the legendary has never been the strongest point of any game save for BW and RS.

    Not being negative per se, I’m just drained of hype and money and don’t feel this game will be on my list.

    • Idk from this trailer alone it at least looks like more new content than Emerald and Platinum tbh. Even if it it’s filler it’s probably gonna be a better filler since they’ve had a year to tune up SuMo.

But third games have never felt entirely worth it to me. They’d have to add A LOT of new pokemon for me to want it.

          • You’re allowed to be frustrated, it’s when it’s constantly negative and people get over their heads over a game that people get annoyed and will just start shutting you down

          • You’re being too emotional about this. Don’t worry GF know what they’re doing, it’s not like they’ve just started making games and marketing them.
            With USUM they’ve changed the pace and I think it’s the best way forward.
            Sometimes we need to be put in the dark to rediscover that hunger, that passion.
            Personally if they keep spoon feeding us info we could lose that passionate interest.
            I guarantee you that with USUM we’re all frustrated and eager to learn more.
            In other worda GF have succeeded!

          • Exactly. Sometimes being given less ir slower paced news reveals imo is a good change of pace. If they reveal everything we’ll be like ohh cool but now anything that comes is like major hype cos we want it!

            The succeeded at doing terribly to market a game that already has the odds stacked against it being on the 3DS as a third version of a game that came out a year ago before the Switch pokemon game will be out

          • And? They probably revealed it earlier than they wanted to release content for it because the fandom was whining about the lack of a game reveal, and then decided to not release all the concept at once

            It took them two months to concretely say that it wasn’t a sequel. We didn’t even have box arts. We had nothing but silence for two months. Not even little hints or anything.

            It makes it seem like these games have such little content they can’t show anything

          • ‘Alternate story’ does not indicate sequel in any way, shape, or form. If it was a sequel, it’s be explained at reveal or actually he in the title with a big fat ‘two’.

            Box arts probably weren’t show due to the eyes on them, which is possibly teasing something completely new like a form.

            They literally showed us a bunch of stuff that could hint at more new content and structure changes than the past third versions?

          • The last time there were two games in a third version it was Black and White 2. Sun and Moon was very story driven. New protagonists. Updated region. Alternate story could’ve meant anything

          • BW2 weren’t third versions at all though. They were clearly marketed as sequels from the start. The word ‘alternate’ immediately disqualifies a straight sequel because it means a different thing from the original, not a follow on

          • The Necrozma symbol yes? That’s been there since June. The Japanese logos have had symbols for a while like that that hint at the in game mascot. The symbol has been there from the beginning since they revealed the logos of USUM

          • I mean it is new that’s for sure. I’d say it’s more of a hint of the Necrozma fusion than anything else tho. In XY we had dna looking symbols for Mega evolution, in ORAS we had the Red and Blue orbs, and in SM we had the Z crystals. So it’s prolly a hint at whatever causes the Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma forms lol

  92. Something I find interesting is the boundaries being changed for the islands this time around. Seems like there’s a lot of water drying up on the beaches causing more sand bars and the beaches to expand. I wonder what the deal with that it. Also I find it interesting that on Poni island the rocks that kept you from leaving the beach in the Poni wilds. Plus with those rocks removed there are new ones over by Poni breaker coast and I think a new beach that wasn’t there before. I wonder if we can surf to Exeggutor island now? lol

  103. Okay so guys aside from Necrozma changes, I’m really curious about the timing in these games.
    The map shows Alola covered in a warm reddish sun, Route 1 is much more warmer and redder like we’re at certain time of day and this could possibly be linked to the theme of the games.
    Like in BW2 Unova was frozen maybe in USUM aside from Necrozma and UBs wrecking havoc the Sun might play a larger role???

    What if..like Sinnoh in Platinum got colder right?
    What if Alola’s climate has changed or is different as part of the alternate universe.

    Some things to be noted:
    – Alola seems warmer due to reddish look, could be sun related, playing a larger role.
    – Maybe Sun is closer to earth.
    – Maybe Ubs have caused issues with balance of solar system like the Sun, Stars etc causing Aun to come closer to Alola/Earth
    – Maybe we have no night tho I doubt that
    – Akalas Volcano seems asleep
    – Theres definitely something fishy going on I tell ya!

    Revived from the Crystal Fossil:
    Crystalido (Crystal + Scelidosaurus)
    Rock/Fairy
    The Gem Pokemon
    They defendes themselves with the gems on their bodies. Many gems found today come from this pokemon. It can be revived from the Crystal fossil

    Revived from the Geo fossil:
    Platecton (Plateosaurus + Tectonic plates)
    Rock/Ground
    The Tectonic Pokemon
    They liked playing in mud. When a group of them migrated, they often caused an earthquake. It can be Revived from the Geo Fossil.

    -Brooklet Hill is dried up
    -Akala volcano looks dormant
    -There is a beach behind Tide Song hotel
    -Route 2 on Melemele no longer has a pokemon center
    -The cloud layer in the bottom left is conspicuously large and thick

    Now I know I’m repeating myself but SURELY!…
    They would NOT include the Sun in that position plus the overwhelming reddish rays of Sun light for nothing would they?

      • No like I’m literally fucked. This is the only class I don’t have an A in. I’m terrible at math, my teacher is TERRIBE, and we don’t get lots of regular assignments that I actually do well I’m so I fail the tests and my grade drops because there aren’t enough grades to keep it high enough

It’s your teachers job to make sure you understand the material.     As for people who don’t know what these games are. It’s pretty clear.

    The games are what they’ve been called since the start. ‘Alternate Universe’
    Forget platinum, emerald,black 2 white 2. These aren’t sequels or better versions.

    They’re a different take on sumo. Best think of it as a ‘what if’. They’ll be like sumo but things changed around and a different perspective. How different, that’s what i want too know. Judging by that brief trailer and new z moves, a lot more different than platimum was. Not a third version, not a sequel, the same game but with a twist.

    Z-moves are an absolute shitty way to buff a pokemon. I thought the whole thing was a big attack, like a final smash. If you wanted to make kommo-o good make a mega. The exclusive z move also negates the “Every pokemon can use them” counter argument.

    Z moves suck.
    Megas are good.
    Kommoo should have gotten a mega

  241. I can’t say how much I like the characters designs this time around. Honestly imo a huge advancement over the last versions. I didn’t mind how they looked in SM, but there was someting missing. Plus I REALLY hated the male protagonists initial hair style. there’s a part of me that might actually keep the clothes from the start if I find I like them enough. Also the art for both of them makes them seem way more fun. I like fun goofy Sun verses straight laced serious looking Sun quite a bit more lol

Ok so here’s an f’d up thing. apparently in the Japanese trailer there are Alolan Vulpix in the cages , but in the western versions there aren’t……I’m not a huge fan of censorship when it comes to this kind of stuff. The Aether Foundation is SUPPOSED to be evil so it would make sense for them to keep Pokemon in cages. It’s not like some weird moral thing that people wouldn’t want their kids to learn from…..sheesh

  255. So looking at Jangmo’s specs…he just learns nothing fun, nothing but normal moves and a few dragon moves,
    I mean it learns TMs but literally I’ll be only using Tackle and Dragon Breath until it learns Headbutt and evolves, maybe Brick Break, Rock Tomb and Acrobatics but other then that nothing fun

          • Yeah but does it really affect you? People are bound to want to try it with that Z-move, doesn’t mean you can’t because it increased its’ popularity.

      • Don’t worry I don’t want to use Jangmo-o right now it’s still two slow. That Z move has to atleast be at a base power of 175 to KO both Garchomp and Salamence. It would have to have a base power of 200 to KO them if either of them were Assault Vested. Enjoy Jangmo-o and Kommo-o. I think I am not going to use any dragons or fairys this time. I think I am going to do a mono flying run through of the games.

    Such a great game, I was able to finally get the chance to play it last year since they had a few copies at a store near me (and they still do). But, as much as I like it, Budokai 2 is my favorite. I suggest playing it if you haven’t already and are a DBZ fan (That might be hard depending on where you live though).

    My theory is that Adam in the show is really the Norse god of knowledge Mimir
    He has god-like powers and the only other person that can use powers simmilar to Adam’s is Emily Axford. I feel like Emily could easily be his daughter with a mortal, that would also explain why adam visits her so often.

    To be clear, I don’t think the creators planned it to be this way, or anything like that, I just think it’s a cool explanation for adam’s powers (the “knowledge is power” thing could just be a lie, It doesn’t really make sense)

Actually I feel like maybe there will be a dusk and dawn form of lycanroc, and that since necrozma has influenced Lunala and Solgaleo, time will be either stuck at dawn or dusk (dawn for Moon with blueish hues, and Dusk for Sun because of the orange hues). At first I thought why they’d only show the orange map for the trailer, but then I thought they could show the blueish map in the trailer where they could also possibly reveal that time is stuck in dawn/dusk and reveal dawn lycanroc. The original SM also had the map during day time only for viewers to see the cities better and there was still night time so
