Game Informer had an interesting interview with Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda about the history of the Pokémon series and its future. They’ve shared most of what they learned, except for news about the upcoming titles Pokémon Ultra Sun & Pokémon Ultra Moon. Finally they’ve shown us a new feature in the upcoming games, Alola Photo Club!
You:’ll be able to take custom pictures with your Pokémon, both inside and outside the photo studio. As the game progresses, more features will be unlocked for your photos.

While I’m at it, does anyone have a high res version of the new map? They claim to have new areas but the map looks largely unchanged. Maybe they mean giving us access to areas we already should have access to, like the golf course and the lighthouse.

I think I’ll have a bit of fun with this feature, then quickly grow annoyed at how the photos come out, I’ll struggle due to my perfectionist nature :/ I’ll hopefully get passed it and will probably forget about the whole feature down the line. I think it would be good if it unlocked stuff either in-game or on the Global link like prizes for doing certain amounts or themes.

It’s been quite the day for news! There hasn’t been an awful lot to talk about, but at least we know that Ryuki and Kahili will play a more significant role in the story and gyms are as good as back (maybe even in Kanto, who knows). Maybe these games aren’t the rehashes I expected, and there could be a lot in store. Also, during the trailer, when that Rockruff was following the trainer… walking with Pokemon confirmed??
I wish more details dropped, but I’ll definitely enjoy my boy Kommo-o’s new Z-Move + taking 802 (at least/minus variants) photos in the photo club.
I like the new map, the quick trailer probably has a few things hidden away, but definitely could have used more.

I just wanted to point out since no one seems to be mentioning this.
Since Kahili and Ryuki are more or less minor characters, it<s neat to see them have a more prevalent role. And then there is the whole ''this is an alternate story/alternate dimension'' so I was wondering if we would see any relevant characters having different roles like
Guzma being a good guy or hell Team Skull being more there (I love team Skull they are my precious numbskulls) or the Aether foundation being more messed or hell the rumors were Gladion is a goodie-2-shoes in the Aether foundation or WHY THE HELL NOT SKULL LILLIE lol. I’m considering whether I want to watch the Sophocles episode of the anime…..I really couldn’t care less about him…….Is it even worth watching or should I just skip it and wait for the Gladion episode? Lol

What a day… Not one, but 3 different types of USUM news we got (even if we didn’t get too much, I’m more than satisfied with Kommo-O getting a Z-Move).
So upon further inspection of the new Alola map, only SOME of the construction sites have been utilized as far as I can tell. The new circus-like buildings are present in Hau’oli City and Konikoni City. The lot in Heahea City has also been used, but there is a dark building present there instead. Malie City also has a harnessed lot, but there is an orange-roofed building there. Royal Avenue also seems to have some structure built in a nearby area.
Thus far, that’s all I’ve been able to uncover about the empty lots. Let’s say we do get gyms… there must be other areas that the map has not shown yet. Assuming Kahili and Mina get their own trials, I think I know which two could potentially be gone. First of all, it’s possible that Lana’s trial could be retired, given as the waterfalls in the northern part of the map have dried out. Across the entire new map, there are dried out areas–the Altar of the Sunne/Moon, a little strip right near the golf course, and even a significant chunk of Hau’oli City’s coast. Another possibility is Kiawe’s trial, as the volcanoes that once had steam pumping out of them now appear to be dormant. This is a stretch considering we’re just looking at minor details on a map, but it’s still important to point out.
It still doesn’t seem that we can access the golf course, lighthouse, or power plant, but it’s too soon to say for sure. Assuming trials are back, Kahili’s is likely on the golf course somewhere and perhaps Molayne could have his own thing going on at the power plant?
The region itself has considerably less water and some of the color schemes of the buildings have changed. There are also a few new beach areas in Hau’oli and Heahea, for example. I’ve attached two images of both maps to see if any of you can find other changes. Let me know!

I mean the Malie garden definitely does have some dried out areas. You can’t blame lighting on that kind of a difference. Especially since the other half of the garden is clearly full of water. I will agree with you tho that the lighting does trick the eye a bit. It’s hard to tell in some areas and in others it’s easy. We’ll just have to wait and see.
So while today wasn’t exactly what we thought it’d be how are people feeling? Better, the same, less excited, confused? I for one am a tiny bit more optimistic about everything. I’m still not 100% on the idea of playing through SM but with a few differences here and there, but honestly it almost looks like there will be some pretty major things going on. I wonder what they’ll show off next. Hopefully we’ll get some new Alolan forms. Lycanroc was a good start, but since it’s so specific to a single Rockruff that’s an event it kind of ruins it. I’d like to see some new forms in which I can go out in the wild and find for myself rather than it just being somehting given to me lol
I am feeling better both because I finished all of my work so I now have free time for my two days of summer and because of the news drops today. They may have been small, but worthwhile. Also there is supposedly another merchandise with a question mark due to be revealed on Aug. 31st. So we should be expecting a news drop before that time. Thus, I am confident that-even though it has been a slow start-the train is moving.
Yeah I’m sure going forward we’ll start getting even more news. During BW2’s pre release we didn’t start getting substantial news until April. That was only 2 month before June when BW2 were released. So if we start getting stuff next month that’ll be on course as far as scheduling goes. I just hope we start to get more info on new forms found in the wild and maybe some official art for some characters that may have not gotten it uploaded since last year. Kahili and Ryuki are two such characters. They have art, but it’s only in the design sheets they gave out with the guides. they never uploaded them with clean ones.
Also Gamexplain has their analysis video up if anyone is interested in watching that.
Oh geez I’m sure it’s another video where they pick apart footage that is more or less self explanatory, but then make up shit that may or may not happen. And then they say “But we’ll have to wait and see if that actually happens haha” Oh well I’ll prolly watch it anyway……..lol
I’m 90% sure this has been said already, but I found something else on Bulbapedia that could point to the place that Ryuki’s at is Lt. Surge’s gym:
“Ryuki is a musician who has traveled to Alola from another region beyond the sea in order to spread his fame.”
Maybe that region is Kanto..?
I’d love ti if we were able to go to Kanto( even just a a part of it) but I’m skeptical. I know it can be done, but I get the feeling GF don’t want to do that kind of thing anymore. They’ve only ever done it once and it was when Iwata was somewhat involved. I doubt they have the drive enough to push something like that out on what would be more or less a filler set of games while they make the Switch game. I’d be more willing to bet that if it really is supposed to be a gym it’ll be more of a representation of Surges gym. Like a replica or something. I saw someone (maybe here or somewhere else) say that maybe Po Town could be changed into a Kanto styled town that would basically be like an amusement park based on Kanto. It wouldn’t really be an amusement park, but it would be the kind of thing where they have replicas of gyms and other landmarks from Kanto there.
Maybe… But it does have the exact same layout as Kanto’s electric gym (even the windows are oddly the same) so I’m not entirely too sure.
Again tho it could be a replica gym I won’t argue it doesn’t look like the Vermilion gym, but It’s hard to believe they’ll put that much effort in a secondary game.

Here’s an interesting tidbit. apparently an early version of the building that Ryuki was shown in was found in SM’s coding. It’s stripped down and doesn’t have the same coloring, but it’s definitely the same building only with some slight changes.

Notice the little arch near the peak? That wasn’t there on the SM map, despite being there in game after Kukui established the league. The fact that it’s already there probably means the league is already there.

Also lower on the mountain there’s a weird area that appears to be an additional spot for the victory road? Maybe Victory road will be more fleshed out in these games.

In my fangame, gym leaders’ teams are diffrent (harder) than in normal games. The 1s and 2nd leaders have 3 mons, 3rd and 4th have 4 mons, 5th and 6th have 5 and the last two have a full team. I’d like you to tell me if the last two teams don’t sound too hard:
7th:
Polecante (regional rodent, pure fighting type)
Hawlucha
Pangoro
Machamp
Blaziken
Superine (pretty strong, Fighting/Fairy type)
8th:
Komala
Miltank
Snorlax

I do, but these are done with a Male 6IV ‘mon bred for me. The Dittos I have were RNG’d from gen 5 for me, I bred and traded a very large amount for them.

There better be more guy hairstyles in USUM. Honestly it was pretty unacceptable how many they gave the females in comparison.
They always do, they think girls want more and the boys aren’t bothered. Problem is if you’re trying to make it represent you more that thinking doesn’t work and is kinda sexist.
Yeah exactly, it’s dumb. In Animal Crossing I can wear girl/boy hair and clothes..GF is low key homophobic though. We especially know this due to the different dialogue between the girl and boy trainers with Lillie.
Yeah, Japan has a big problem with gender diversity and sexual orientation. Animal Crossing is maybe the only Nintendo franchise that encourages breaking of gender norms.
I would’ve thought that Japan was a pretty socially progressive in that regard. It’s disappointing for sure, but I’m not confident it would be any different if made by a Western dev.

Are you a native speaker? Because female is more used in the context of an adjective. For example, male/female bathroom, male/female clothing, male/female hairstyle. But whenever you would say ‘guys’ or ‘boys’ you say ‘girls’ and whenever you refer to men you refer to women. Referring to women as females is actually comparing them to some lowly animal you don’t care about. 😉

yeah I saw that video. Every pokemon for the most part has lots of planning and research put behind it. Incineroar isn’t special
He is insanely unappealing. You took a cat and gave it muscles. I don’t care if its based on Tiger Mask. The idea didn’t work at all. Sure you can say Lopunny is just a bunny with tits but the design works because the design is tied up in a simple and elegant way. Its feminine figure makes since because it’s a bunny and it needs to get around quick. Even better in its mega form
Inci on the other hand has a tiny head with gigantic hands that are way too big. It shoots fire out of its crotch also. That’s just stupid. Its lower body is really underdesigned compared to the top half and it all comes together to create a disgusting abomination.
Inci is a bunch of “ok” and just bad ideas without good execution.

So I bought the first two volumes of the Pokemon Adventure manga. I’ve always wanted to read them, but buying manga is always a drain on the bank and it’s typically easier to just find it online somewhere. That said the Pokemon manga are kind of hard to fin so I figured I’d give it a try in the real deal. I’m most interested in the GSC stuff, but I figured I’d try and read all of RBGY first since it’s a continuous story.
The RSE is the best one. Read all of that. They are so amazing. Everything after RSE is trash
I may read RSE too. I once found a scanned in version, but I just couldn’t concentrate on it. Maybe if I actually buy the manga in book form I’ll have more discipline

I still need to beat P5……I got to the 3rd dungeon (I think?), played a pretty decent amount of of it, and then got really busy and haven’t found the will to dive back in….I almost wish it was on the Vita as well so I could pick it up and play as my leisure rather than having to boot up my PS4 and sit down in front of my tv to play. What made P4G so great was the freedom to play anywhere and anytime. I’m still enjoying what I’ve played of it, but need to find the time now. It;s just such a long game with a lot of emotional investments to make lol

I am convinced that this is Kartana’s Ultra Space
The little orange dot is Kartana, its glowing and moving in the trailer. Kartana is a Grass type, this is a forest with the leaves having a similar shape as Kartana.
There are no Chinese style forests in SM nor any on the USUM map.
That one person in the image is probably a Faller. Guzma and Lusamine lived in Ultra Space too, albeit for a short period, but anything’s possible.
Nihilego’s Ultra Space was a rocky and crystallized cavern, this is a similar layout but obviously forest themed so its Kartana’s, or possible Celesteela but i highly doubt that.

I just hope that these new Ultra Spaces are a little longer and more interesting than the one we got in SM

My ideas for the Alolan trio were
Decidueye
B: Spirit Shackle: Standard Ranged charge you cannot store the shot and release in a different spot but those hit by it will be immobilized for a solid second
Side: Leaf Blade: a wide multi slashing attack that can be chained together
Up B: Brave Bird: a fire fox esque propel
Down B: Sucker Punch: a counter
Incineroar
B: Fire Fang: He lunges forward and bites the opponent down
Side B: Darkest Lariat: he swings and spins forward trapping multiple people in his animation
Up B: Acrobatics: he performs a leaping somersault bouncing off opponents
Down B: Bulk Up: he glows red as he flexes causing him to deal more damage and have reduced knock back
Primarina
B: Sparkling Aria: sends out a bubble bomb that travels forward and bursts
Side B: Double-slap: a flurry of open flipper smacks
Up B: Water Pledge: Surges upward on a column of water
Down B: Disarming Voice: a short sound wave that disables those struck
Final smashes would probably be their Z-Moves
down B for incineroar is unbalanced. One should trade for the other.
Maybe slow speed as a side effect?
It’s either you move slower and it lasts only a few shots then you are fatigued and can’t use it after a while

Ok. I strongly believe the forest is Kartna Ultra space. Now, considerations about that:
– If this Ultra space is as big as Nihilego’s GF could have spent its time better building a proper battle frontier. “Our world is huge, other worlds are cave-like size” Wtf?
– People are seen in the forest. Could this mean that at least we have to fight someone to get UBS? Let’s hope so, at least it’s five minutes longer to play. What pokemon do they use/, only Kartana lives in Kartana’s Ultra Space? Assuming that the “Wha if” dimension of USUM is not that different from SM, maybe it’s wih other dimensions that Gf decided to introduce new Alola Forms?
– If we have to travel to other dimensions to find UBs maybe UBs never came to our world, maybe all the Lusamina/Llie/Cosmog plot is gone and all is now related to Necrozma? Cause doing an entire plot around UBs menace just to open other portals and risking another invasion is just stupid. Now we become the invaders?

Unless they decide to show something in a Nintendo Direct, which I am guessing will be sometime this week due to the pokken demo, xenoblade and fire emblem not having dates, new arms character coming really soon, lack of new maps in splatoon 2, ect. Im hoping for news in a nintendo direct.

He bought a thunder stone for Pikachu (and used it)
Grubbin finally evolved before fighting Totem Vikavolt
After the ghost trial he caught a Stufful
Grimer evolved defending Stufful from a Garbodor
His Torracat evolved
He found a Psychium Z when he got lost in the desert, Oranguru helped him find the exit
Charjabug evolved in Vast Poni Canyon
He found an Aloraichium Z after beating the last trial
He decided to fight the international league (where you’d all be)
