Pokémon GO is celebrating its first birthday in many parts of the world and the latest event celebrates the occasion. The special anniversary event is active from July 6th (today!) to the 13th, so don’t wait to take advantage of it!
Players will be able to find Ash Hat Pikachu and catch it for their collection. Anime fans may be especially interested after watching almost 20 years of Ash Ketchum’s journey to become a Pokémon Master.
In addition, special sale packages (called “Anniversary Boxes”) will be available to purchase and include many helpful items at a discount.

Shoot, I posted my comment in the old article. Basically my thoughts are:
– there wasn’t enough content to make an actual direct but they did anyway
– it’s becoming more apparent to me that this game won’t be able to justify the “2” in it’s name. I had faith in Nintendo originally, but it isn’t looking great.

What did you like about it? Genuinely curious, it felt like a rundown of basic splatoon gameplay with some DLC thrown in.
This Direct was meant to be a refresher, not a direct to show off a bunch of new things
OMG I’m watching the Litten/Stoutland episode……..This is such a freaking sad episode……….Why would Disney end their marathon this?!?!?!?!

BAH I SAY, The episode was sad but the dub failed to live up to expectations and truly capture how powerful this episode is
Three areas
-When Litten is frantic and begging ash for help the dub doesn’t have that sense of desperation that the original had especially when the final leaf fell and Litten was screaming to the sky, just not that emotion
-The score: The music was downtrodden but still had pep to it, the original used not only Snowpoint city’s music but also the added Meowth’s ballad which really made the whole grief and sorrow so much more stronger
-and lastly the dialogue felt just so dumbed down as always, when Rotom asked where Stoutland was Kukui only replied “I’m sorry” his “Don’t ask that” just felt so much more serious and effective
Well I didn’t see the Japanese dub so…..yeah…..I’d say perspective is key and you preferring one over the other doesn’t mean the English dub did a bad job.

I’m just really interested to see how they handle some of the finer plot points. With Brock and Misty being replaced I wonder if they’ll have slightly different designs. If so why? If not then why even bother replacing them to begin with? Plus it appears the journey will be slightly different too. I wonder what they’ll focus on and what they’ll leave out. I doubt they’ll end the movie with Ash losing at the Indigo league hahahahaha

Okay, I’m looking through my backlog and found these games which are a good option to finish. Tell me which one I should pick and why!
– Super Mario 3D World: No idea why I didn’t play this through, seems like I can beat most of it in 10 hours too.
– Twilight Princess HD: Already a small 8 hours in, and I really like the game, but I have already done most of TP when it launched except for beating Ganon. I don’t know if beating the HD version will give me more satisfaction compared to playing BotW.
– Xenoblade Chronicles X: Long, long game and I didn’t do much of it. I think the sheer size of it made me stop playing coupled with the fact that I expected a Switch port, but I still think having to play for 50 hours to beat it is too endearing. Maybe I can play till I get a skell though?
– Tokyo Mirage Sessions: Bought it, never inserted disc, how’s the game anyway?
– Persona 5: Really liked it, but again, the size of the game is just too big and it needs continous plays or else the story won’t be enjoyed as much. This is one of the better options I think though.
– FFXV: Didn’t completely like the beginning and the patches are making it better, I better hold off for a while.
– Dragon Quest VIII – I liked it, but it has some serious drawbacks compared to IX in my opinion.
As you see, I have a paradoxal problems with liking game that are really long but where I don’t have any time to reasonably finish them.
The game gets better with Skells tbh, so I’d just wait if you ever have the time tbh
I disagree. The exploration is the key aspect of X, and when you get the skells the world gets so much smaller and you don’t have to think about how to get anywhere. You just go up and fly directly there, no journey or anything.
I mostly just used Skells as transport tbh, although I do wish that there was more areas where you can’t use Skells
Persona 5 . It and TP are the best games on the list, but since you’ve already played the original already you should go with p5 instead.
I say Xenoblade X, but I’m very partial to that game in particular. Two things though:
– Xenoblade 2 runs on the X engine, which makes a port all the more likely. I was gonna replay it recently but decided to hold off for that reason. However if you’ve never finished it, go for it.
– It might be best if you only want to play until you get a Skell, because the game goes downhill from there. The skells make the world soooo much smaller and easily accessible and the exploration is the best part.
Super Mario 3D World, hands down. It’s definitely not like the traditional 3D Mario games but it’s very polished and a really fun experience. You’ll really enjoy it, and it won’t take too long either.

Supposedly the first reports from people that have seen the movie say it’s the best Pokemon movie ever. No word on any actual new yet tho. That’s not surprising tho. I feel like we always have a little bit after the movies air before we hear what the teaser is.

I’m seeing reports on 4chan that there wasn’t a teaser, at least at this screening. It could still be shown when it premieres in theaters though. I don’t know what to think of it if there isn’t a teaser at all.

Update: they stopped the movie right after the final scene and didn’t include the credits either. They’ll certainly have a teaser in the full version with credits in Japanese theaters a week from now.

As soon as I saw this Pokemon, I knew it was gonna be on my team. and boy was I right (though I almost dropped it) Vikavolt is a pure powerhouse. 143 base SpA it guided my team once it FINALLY evolve. Sure it was very disappointing to learn its not fast, but Having an immunity to ground and just raw power. Its worth it.
FL: Aaron. .I ove when unique things happen with a type. and being the first and only Bug type elite 4 was a major step up. Before Aaron all Elite 4 were Dark/Psychic/fighting/Ice/Drgon/Ghos.Aaronfinally put a twist on that. Too bad he isnt THAT good. (Ive never struggled with him) Cool design too.
LP: Burmy- Stupid pokemon with a stupid gimmick. Not only one gimmick but two!!. You arent that special!!

I’m serious guys. I honestly think they’re doing the trials like this because they have a bigger picture adventure planned for Ash. Lets look at it this way. At the weird pace they’re at now he could basically be done with Ula’ula by then end of the year. Then what? They speed through Poni/Exeggutor islands in 2018 or spread them out throughout the entire year? Would they really slow down that much for Poni island? I think the reason they’re speeding through the trials is because a new league is being set up like in the game and once it’s done Ash will have to go collect all the badges. That’d be pretty cool in my mind lol Again the only problems is that I feel like they’d be rushing both the trials and the gyms too much. Plus if you think about it The next games will likely come out late 2019. That means they’ll have to fill not only 2018, but also part of 2019 as well. That screams to me that they have something more to give Ash to do lol
Tbh, I kinda hope we don’t get Gyms, at least for as long as we’re in Alola. They finally bothered to change up the formula and it’d just feel like pussying out and repeating themselves – a really bad habit Pokemon has tbh.

If they weren’t gonna do gyms in Alola then why even bother having them set up in the plot then? I mean by them saying they’re bringing the modern league to Alola all throughout the story they’re basically shouting at us that gyms are coming. I will agree that I really am glad they shook things up this time. It was a breath of fresh air. That said I think they can bring gyms back without them being as stale as they have been. Have the gyms be more like trials where you being there actually matters and has plot relevance rather than them just being road blocks and that can fix them. Right now the problem with gyms is that they are basically only road blocks. There’s no real reason for the trainer to do them other than you HAVE to. If they have events unfold while you are doing the gyms and have them be more meaningful then that will help them out a lol Also I wish the gym leaders were more relevant to the story. The island captains were really no more in the game than any of the gym leaders, but you felt like them being there mattered more. Having npcs talk about them as if they’re big parts of their communities would also really boost gyms a lot too
The thing is tho our trainers took on Alola’s league after doing their island trials, so it could be that in Alola it’s the Island Trials that act as the qualifier for the league. Especially because it’s set up as a replacement to the consecutive Kahuna Battles mentioned by Nanu.
Although if we do trials first and then consecutive Kahunas, and then post game is Gyms and league, I wouldn’t mind as much tbh
Well yeah the original way Alola did was you do the trials and THAT’S how you go to the league. The fact of the matter is that they specifically made a point to say they were bringing the gym system to the league. I’m not saying USUM gets rid of the trials altogether, but I think maybe gyms are coming back. I could see them doing a thing where the gyms take the place of the regular trials, but you still need to beat the Kahunas in order to move onto the next island. What I really want is for the gyms to be more meaningful. Then they can come back lol
I really hope they don’t replace trials, like it’d be dumb if Alola just completely ditched its tradition because Kukui just came along like ”yo we be Gyms now”
I think it’d be interesting to see an Alola where traditions and new stuff collided. Like seeing the Alolan citizens come to terms with a new system coming into their region and how they adapt to it. Do they resist? Do they accept it? That’d be cool lol

Sucks that we have to wait another week for the movie teaser (if there is one at all). We don’t even know if it’s going to be interesting or not. I feel like I’m more impatient in general these days, probably because I have to make it through another week of work. I suppose we can hope that, with Splatoon 2 details today, next week is open for USUM as well. That would make the wait worth it.

I’m actually really stoked to see it for myself. I think the only part that will disappoint me is that none of what they’re showing in the movie will make it to USUM. (Minus Marshadow) Normally the movies are supposed to show off what’s to come, but seeing as this one is all about Kanto/Johto and it’s unlikely USUM will have anything crazy new (other than prolly new Alolan forms) It really is leaving me with a weird feeling. I’ve never been more excited for the movies than I am for the games lol

Is a date for news really too much to ask? As much as I’d hate it I’d take them saying right now that news will be coming on X date next month. It might be a far away day, but at least then we’d have a concrete date to look for. Right now we’re just floating around. It’s the worst way to go. You can float around in between releases, but once they announce something they need to give us stuff. Floating around with no knowledge is one thing, but floating around with some knowledge is terrible lol

My interesting theory. You know how rumors are pointing at USUM being in an Alternate timeline and 1 year in the future? Well I believe that maybe it is an Alternate time, but 1 year before the events.
Some reasons why I believe this is the fact of what seems to be Totem Lycanroc and Togedemaru. This makes you wonder Olivia is pretty young looking so maybe she a year before wasn’t a Kahuna, but a Trial Captain explaining the Lycanroc. And you in Sun and Moon are Sophacles first challengers meaning he wasn’t a Captain then, but want to know who was? The Steel Captain and, Togedemaru is a steel type so could be a coincidence or maybe not. Also that would be neat cause then we could see Hapu’s Grandpa as the Kahuna since he had past away recently not a year ago so he would be alive.
So what do you think?
I think this could be interesting, but I feel the problem is it might not offer much in the way of moving forward. If they are doing a game set in the past I want it distant past, perhaps in the time of the War AZ was part of, or even before that, where fossil Pokemon are alive and roam free. Of course that would probably require time travel in the game so you can still have Pokeballs. Maybe they could do a Ranger game like that.
Hmm Pokemon prehistoric version… uses special devices found in particular rocks… I was working on a new Pokemon game idea aside from my main stuff and you just hit the nail in the coffin for the idea! Thanks man!
NP, I think it could be interesting as a concept. The only issue you might have is either having a large dex of existing ‘mon or fakemon surviving as they are into present day. You can probably have some species like Sandile go believably unchanged though. I look forward to hearing what you come up with 🙂

Yeah, I was thinking about that, on the one hand it is probably the fossilisation process that gives them their rock typing, but I also wonder if they might’ve had it anyway. I do think Cradily might’ve been Grass/Water and Armaldo Bug/Water. Don’t really want loads of part water stuff though maybe? I can see Kabutops being Water/Steel. As long as they still make sense and you don’t suddenly add like Flying to Bastiodon or something you’ll probably be fine. Also you can have Relicanth as it is one that has remained unchanged.

i guess same for me. because i think people are interpreting new pokemon too much. i dont see it being new evolutions or anything. IF there is anything new my best bet is johto alolans cuz of september releasing GS on vc like they did with rby. they will be allowed to go into bank but thats it. i dont remember any case where they added new pokemon. they added forms like black and white kyurem in bw2 but no new pokemon
but regardless. im just not too excited for usum. id rather just get on to gen 8

I thought Lunala/Necrozma looked kinda neat. I don’t care much about the rest. I’d probably like them more if they pulled a B2W2 — I really liked seeing the region change that much. At this point most of my hype is centered around the possibility of the pokedex being updated; I really want to use an Ambipom for some reason.

Idk man…..the tcg always does stuff that has nothing to do with the rest of the franchise. If they were gonna start focusing on the next big thing it wouldn’t be until after USUM come out. The sets leading up to USUM are mostly about the guardians/Marshadow/Necrozma. All of them make sense. It doesn’t make sense for them to focus on the Sinnoh trio. I’d be willing to bet they’re just extra cards. They may get special cards like GX’s or something, but that doesn’t mean a new game is coming soon. We still have USUM before that.

In fact, since lots of people think it will be out in two years or more, it just doesn’t add up. I forgot how tough Nanu is. I am currently fighting against him in my Sun Nuzlocke. I remember he took out half my team when I played against him in Moon. Right now I am barely keeping all of my team alive.
With a few close calls I was able to defeat Nanu with my entire team intact.

Thanks. I have been quite busy and when I have had time to play I was too usually too engaged to bother posting. There were times even when my Pokémon were overleved compared to my opponents they met an unfortunate end. Especially two separate occasions with my Clefairy fainting to a self-destruct and a Komala Flailing my Ribombee to death’s embrace.
That is a pain, especially when you’ve become attached to them. Rest peacefully Pokemon passed.
It’s something that you often don’t get too upset over outside of Nuzlocke, the odd unexpectedly powerful move fainting your Pokemon.

Luckily yes. Unluckily its nature reduces its defense. Nevertheless he has so far has real staying power on my team. It also helps teaching them TMs for coverage.

Agreed. I saw it Wednesday. I thought everyone was really good, even if Flash Thompson seemed nerdier than Peter imo. The bit at the end seems kind of stupid MJ, whom I hope they retcon or gloss over it and introduce one closer to the comics actually called Mary Jane . I thought the villain was fantastic. I loved how he slowly began to realize he was Spider-Man. It even took me a second to realize he was the villain. That elevator scene was also tense as fuck. This year has had amazing super hero movies.
The bit where Michelle says she’s MJ, which is meant to make you think she is Mary Jane. It’s almost like they have this odd fear of using characters who appeared in previous movies, like Jameson, Gwen and Harry. The elevator scene was so good. I also like the instant kill mode Karen (computer lady) kept trying to turn on. Also Ned, I feel like I want a Ned as a friend Yeah good movies, I hope it continues and Thor Ragnarok and Justice League are good too.
