Magikarp Jump Launches WORLDWIDE! Hints & Tips Inside

The free-to-pay title Magikarp Jump can now be downloaded in North America and other regions on iTunes and Google Play! The official site has been updated with a page about the game and a trailer has also been released in English.

Joe Merrick, owner of Serebii.net, shared his thoughts about how to progress the fastest after playing for a week:

  1. Power up the food over Training. Food is a quicker way of getting JP.
  2. Don’t spend Diamonds on Coin Sacks. It can be tempting, but the coin value you get increases as you level up.
  3. Decoration effects will still be active even if not on display. Get the Whimsicott Cushion first, then Shaymin Planter for their boosts

Good luck training your Magikarp everyone!

    • Ooo a story from camping I accidentally walked into the ladies room during manhunt and didn’t realize till I came out… and in pursuit of someone I kicked a stall door with someone inside in to check just to find out they weren’t playing the game

  1. Oooo got a question for y’all (out of stars request)

If you could take any Pokemon and give it a regional form (you don’t have to take the whole Evolution line) which one? And what would it be now?

  2. I plan for there to be 30 legends in my game
You’ll see around 12-14 before beating the game
And there are three returning legends, all of which have something special about them

  3. it seems like a great game
    – development started three years ago
    – Ubisoft was the one that came up with the idea, and went through the standard pitching process to Nintendo execs
    – seems like the title may have been in the works for Wii U at first
    – being made by both Ubisoft’s Paris and Milan divisions, with the core creative direction being handled by Milan
    – Nintendo is overseeing development and approving ideas, but have been very accepting and quick to approve ideas
    – game features surreal, self referential gags
    – at one point, there was a hulky Donkey Kong themed rabbid serving as one of the first boss encounters
    – this rabbid has access to a pile of bananas that it can use to replenish its health
    – to beat him, you have to cut off his food supply to prevent him from recovering
    – the DK rabbid will dab periodically if it lands an attack correctly
    – when the boss faints, the rabbid cosplaying as Princess Peach in your party takes a selfie with him
    – the 8 playable characters each have an individual skill tree of sorts for developing special abilities
    – each start with a base skill that they can later improve, in addition to learning new ones
    – Mario has a passive ability which enables him to automatically fire at an enemy if they enter his field of vision
    – some of these powers are common across multiple characters
    – there are unique ones like Peach’s powerful ability to inflate enemies using a foot pump until they explode
    – online suite was being tested several months back, although this mode was inaccessible in the test builds
    – additional mode named ‘Arena’ was spotted in the test UI
    – prototypes feature a mode dubbed ‘amiibo machine’, but the details behind it remain a mystery
    – Ubisoft is producing prototype figurines of some of the game’s characters, which may turn out to be amiibo
    – this game was originally intended to be unveiled during Nintendo’s January Switch event
    – the reveal got pushed back in order to let the game get some more polish
    – it will be revealed at E3 2017, and could see release in August or September

There is a Pokemon game where two members of the Pokemon league (gyms, elite 4 and champ included) have the same Pokemon as aces. What are these gym leaders and what are their same aces??

  7. Was just bumming around on Bulbapedia when I noticed this (should’ve prob noticed it in the second Generations episode):

I get that it’s based on the FRLG version of the gym, but like that’s way too much of a coincidence for it to have the same place where Charizard Seismic Tossed Rhydon and the podium where Giovanni swapped Pokemon.

    • 2017 obviously,but it’s too late for that
Besides, a dual release may hold the game back due to te 3ds’ limitations.

        • Ok just wondering. In any event I’d rather it be Switch Exclusive. If it’s on the 3DS as well that means their attention and time is taken away from them making a good version of it on the Switch lol

          • You can assume the Switch version stays perfectly the same and the additional time is spent on downporting/removing incompatible features from the 3DS game.

      • It is possible Many will use the idea of them never doing it before as a reason for them not doing it, but there are good reasons for them never having done it before. Up until recently with gen 6 onward we have never had world wide releases. That means that the messages they wanted to spread would have been divided by a multi month separation and they wouldn’t have a proper set of ads to show to the general public. It wouldn’t make sense for them to show it at e3 if the games were only coming out sooner in Japan and not until much later in the rest of the world. Now it make perfect sense as all eye are on both the games and E3 at the same time. If that makes any sense hahaha

    • Why put both of the good things in one option? I’d rather have 1. The 3DS’ hardware is holding the series back, and it would be a huge system seller for the switch as an exclusive.

      • Mostly cause a few reasons

-Don’t want to buy a switch yet
-Other than Mario kart none of the games other than kirby so aren’t on my want list
-Why have a Switch now when Yo-kai Watch PS comes out in fall for 3ds

  8. Would you rather have to:
    – Catch Pokémon using a QTE sequence for the Pokéball, but you’re able to buy QTE-free Pokéballs for $5 for a pack 25.
    – Having to wait 2 hours to heal your Pokémon again in the Pokémon center after healing, but you can buy a health insurance pass for a week for $5.

      • It’s not the effectiveness, it will just always fail when you execute it wrongly, but have the normal chance of capturing of executed perfectly.
