  22. I know a lotta people have said this but… and by the way I’m completely sad to say this…. SuMo has kinda died for me…. like… I’ll be real, most enjoyable Pokémon experience in YEARS for me. First game I’ve played in a long time that captured that magical feeling I got as a kid playing a Pokémon game for the first time. But… well.. the lack of an aftergame and dumber than normal smogon tiers (Yanmega sweeps 80% of RU, one of the most balanced tiers ATM) , Pokémon has literally nothing to offer me. Worse yet, the Pokémon fangames I usually resort to playing haven’t been updated since the summer. Phoenix Rising is probably a forever away, Insurgence has been on final bug testing for like two months, rejuvenation won’t be updated for around a year, Reborn I’m too lazy to finish, and Azurite won’t be out till I’m a couple years in college. This is the biggest Pokemon drought I’ve felt since …. last year… but besides that, it never seemed this bad…..
    I don’t even care what comes next, all I want is confirmation of something, anything.

    Kalos 3rd game, Unova Remake, Alola 3rd game, any of those things would make me super happy

  32. In my fan region I’m making regional forms of gen IV pokemon. By now I’ve chosen: Croagunk and Toxicroak (Poison/Psychic), Luxray line (Electric/Fighting), Buizel and Floatzel (Water/Ground), Glameowth (Dark) and Purrugly (Dark/Fighting), Stunky and Skuntank (Poison/Electric), Hippopotas and Hippowdon (Ground/Fire), Shellos (Rock) and Gastrodon (Rock/Ground) and finnaly Tangrowth (Grass/Fairy). Should I add any more? Are these type combinations good?

          • All of them… besids Hippo (Who I’m guessing gains lava… but that’s kinda treading close to Camerupt

          • Luxray and Floatzel lines are based on Slavic Gods, Toxicroak line is based on a kind of croaks, Gastrodon is miners, Skuntank is supposed to be based on Tesla and his death ray and the others don’t have orgins, I just think they would be cool.

          • Evolution. While most Yanmegas in other regions adapted overtime to their current state in order to survive in their enviroments, my region is more supportive of this form so no change was actually necessary. Kinda how like Relicanth never changed due to being as adapted as it needed to be

          • The regional form is larger but a fair bit slower. The prey it mainly targets in my region is much slower than in other regions

            I wanted to make a pokemon based on Polish miners (My region’s based on Poland, Czech Republic and Russia) and I needed more regional variants. A miner Gastrodon sounded cool even if it doesn’t make sense. And Tesla Skuntank is just a crazy idea of mine that I like.

    This pisses me off indescribably. Way more than it should. But here I am, trying to describe how pissed off I am.

    ugh. Ugh. UGh. UGH. Let me say, I know that an emulator is probably coming eventually. That’s no surprise to me. What pisses me off here is that this group of people is actually willing to pay to not pay. Like, they can’t shell out money for the actual developers, who poured time and money, not to mention creativity, into this project, no. That’s just too much to ask. What they do instead is they pay to cheat. Look, I know that many people don’t have a console for the game, but the amount of people who are willing to pay to cheat the developers out of their money for their product.

            Back before me …. .and the one other person in the entire community were so good with a character that we got it nerfed (Dead serious, they litereally nerfed it cause a few people were still good) I was able to score 30 kills per game on good teams.. in a moba…. with a melee character

          • Go watch some footage of it. When I heard about it it didn’t seem that different, but it looks like it’ll play much different. You need to be precise with aiming your flick.

  45. I want to get back on the whole emulator talk. Emulators aren’t the same as piracy. Yes, probably some people use them for that purpose. But emulators have a whole different function to fulfill: it let’s you play your favorite games in their enhanced forms.
    Like, for example, I’m a frequent user of Dolphin (a Wii emulator). I use it all the time to play Xenoblade. It lets me play in downsampled 6K to 1080 with anti aliasing, a HD texture pack and lets me play with my Dualshock 4. And it’s all perfectly legal since I bought the game and just ripped my own ROMs.
    The technical nature of an emulator is legal too. It’s perfectly fine to reverse engineer a system and to produce a piece of software that emulates that system. What’s not fine is the illegal distribution of ROMs. So blame the people spreading the ROMs on torrents. But don’t blame the emulator. Because there are quite a few people who like emulators while they still own the original platforms and games. I even bought BotW twice: both on Wii U and Switch, so I could play my Switch copy first and in a couple of months I’ll try to revisit it on my PC. If you’ve seen any screenshot you’ll get why emulators have become so popular, the game is absolutely glorious in it.

      • PC disc drives can’t read the Wii U proprietary format and SSD read speeds are like 10 times higher than disc read speeds, so loading times are blazingly fast. It’s not a real feasible solution.

          • Technically its been pushed back more so to make the spinoff games that come in between it, and then the series creator taking off some time to work on Final Fantasy 15, but yeah its hype is at unreal levels for fans. Made better that the 1.5+2.5 collection comes to PS4 on March 28

      • Not really. If anything its worse for them. Now instead of having someone with a controversial opinion in their game, their the company that fired someone for having a different opinion then theirs, which tends to make the victim more popular and rally being them, rather then the company. They could have simply stated “we don’t support his opinions, but we believe in equal opportunity, and that means working with people we don’t always agree with. He’s here to voice a character, not to push his own feelings on to you”.

        • The problem is alot of people don’t see it that way and will boycott it for his involvement, regardless of what they say. It’s the way many people react nowadays, just look at anything to do with politics in the past few years. It’s not seen as good to be associated with such opinions even if it’s irrelevant to the content he is there to provide, even if you release a statement such as the one you suggested.

          • That’s true, and I do agree with you on that view, but that’s only half the argument. People also tend to boycott things when people try to silence others, or support people reguardless of their views simply because someone tried to silence them. Look at cases like milo yiannopoulos, a guy who I fully agree is aborderline Nazi with his views and don’t support him what so ever, but he had a huge spike in popularity after twitter banned him, resulting in him having a book deal with a publisher that openly stated that they didn’t agree with his views, but their adults and want to run a business, and he was far from the first person to have different views then them that they published. Heck it wasn’t until the guy stated that he didn’t see a problem with underage children having sex with adults that they finally canceled the book deal. Or look at the suspension of Tomi Lahren in recent days because she said she was Pro-choice, but works in conservative media. People are kinda flocking to her now to support her for having a different opinion and calling for a boycott of her employer because they likely removed her for having a differing opinion.

            Really this’ll boil down to two perspectives. One being that a company did what was needed to preserve their image and didn’t want to be associated with someone who’s currently bad stock, and the other being a company showed that they are either spineless as best, and petty at worse for not wanting to be associated with someone who has a different view. Sadly though I’d bet that this turns into a finebros sort of situation where really most people wouldn’t have even known about John’s cameo since so few people actually know why he’s considered bad stock now, and by doing this they’ve put themselves into the spotlight for both sides to be criticized, and people are more likely to side with the little guy, being john.

          • I agree with you mostly. I think had this been something that happened years ago it would have gone unnoticed until the games release, whether they dropped him or not, and would likely have unaffected it at all. The age we are in makes the decision incredibly difficult. I expect they looked at what Disney did with Pewdiepie and followed suit without thinking on the impact the other way. The fact is Disney is so big it can easily get over anything like that, this company isn’t.
            To be honest apart from on here I had never even heard of the guy, so from my perspective it seems like a good idea to cut anything potentially damaging. But I fully see what you point out, that this may backfire on them hideously. Either way they are kinda damned if they do and damned if they don’t. I guess it comes down to what they think their target audience would think, whether they are right or not will likely be reflected in the sales. Personally I wouldn’t care either way as long as the games is good.

      • As far as I can gather from the usual crap of people saying “he’s a nazi” and “libtards are pissed off”, he more or less said something like black people are naturally more violent then white people and that set a lot of people off. He didn’t condone a crime or anything illegal. He just stated his political opinion and pointed out what he uses to justify it, and people got upset. But again its hard to find anything consistent given the mudslinging around this topic.

          • Honestly though it kinda troubles me how people think about racism.

            Racism is tought to us through slavery and Jim Crow laws and the KKK and that’s the way many of the angry right wing people think of racism. This extreme racism.

            They figure since they don’t think that black people should be slaves or use different facilities than white people or any of that awful stuff then they must not be racist. That’s where the “I have a black friend” argument kinda spawns from.

            So when they are accused of racism for something they say or do that’s problematic in a less extreme manor they don’t see it as racist. They just say it’s the facts or it’s a joke without looking into the reality trying to protect themselves.

            It’s like how some alt right people protested Rogue One for pushing a “feminist agenda” when really it just had a female lead. They don’t necissarily see women in the way they were seen in the 1950s, but they are uncomfortable since all of a sudden, it’s more than just straight white men in the leading roles. It is a bigoted view but again they don’t see it as such

          • “Stating your opinion” also does not validate that opinion nor does it shield you from the consequences of those opinions. If I said to someone that I want to beat their kids up because they misbehave, it does not make it OK because I said that that was my opinion, and the parents can take action against me to prevent me beating the kids.

          • Yeah, I understand that, but I feel your kinda simplifying things a bit. saying that you want to beat someone’s child for misbehaving would be assault, heck it’s probably still assault in a lot of cases if it was your own child. Jon said something kinda racist, restated his opinions to be something kinda racist still, but having some valid points, and nothing he said is encouraging something illegal. Again yes he’s responsible for the backlash that he gets for saying what he said, but I don’t think you should be comparing his political feelings to saying he encourages people committing crimes. And even then, it’s kinda foolish to act as if he’s the only controversial entertainer. Its important to always keep perspective on whether or not their views are really worth getting upset over, and in this case I would say their not.

So I finally finished Horizon Zero Dawn, and I was kind of scared to do so because even though I have seen nothing but praise for the game (from normal people) I heard that everyone I spoke to didn’t like the ending at all, but like most things apparently I was different because I actually loved the ending and the entire game. If anyone needs something to play after zelda BOTW (which i still don’t have and I’m salty) or something to play now that sun and moon have served their purpose, I highly recommend this game. Its up there with the Last of Us for story and gameplay

            His views aren’t directly expressed in the game. Removing him isn’t really censoring his ideas, but censoring him from the game. And that’s really not much in terms of censorship.

More what I mean is that we can actually talk about something like this and not fall completely to one side and actually have differing views. Like I agree with you that really it looks worse for them for removing Jon since it makes them look less professional since part of the adult world is accepting that you’ll have to work with people that have different opinions then yours, and that’s fine so long as their legal.

Hurt them where it counts. At least then the’ll likely be a much smaller issue to you personally.

  110. alright i’m kinda having a gamer life crisis
    i feel like its my obligation to honor and play the games i invest so much time in and that means World of Warcraft which i haven’t touched in a while, i’ve been a wower for 8 years and i feel like the spark is gone, sure i still love the game with all my Dwarven Heart but i feel like i’m out of my prime…i should have all my toons to level 110 by the end of the first month of the new expansion and that was months ago….Legion screwed a lot of the stuff which made it hard to power level on my characters….
    So the times goes by and i have to pool my efforts into other commitments such as pokemon, minecraft splatoon and ect,

    I dunno i think i’m gonna focus on wow for the time being since BOTW is pretty much finished and i kinda promised to myself that i will only fight and beat the final boss with an audience, just play wow until i get all my toons to 110 or until Yooka-laylee takes flight

    my biggest challenge is gonna be leveling my two least favorite classes…..Priest and Druid…..bleh and my druid is level 92 so i didn’t even level him to the cap of last expansion…..

    • maybe its just time for a new MMO man. I played WoW from Vanilla to WotLK, but quit during the mass exodus that was the crusaders tournament given that raid was total BS and never looked back. Took some time off, then picked up Rift, then GW2, and finally found a home with FF14. Maybe its just time to take a break and see what the world has to offer to you, and hopefully find a new world to call home.

    if so my only complaint is the new map, i find extremely inconvenient to obscure the game to check the map, and the Splashdown so far doesn’t offer a decent defense and sub-par offense, really just a quick refill of ink (and to note: the splash doesn’t make you invincible when you jump)
    and lastly is the colors are bright and the motion controls make me nauseous but i still got to work up a immunity

      Ice/Ghost
      Decidueye drastically changes, with it’s “cloak wings” now like powered show, and it’s feathers are icicles, along with its tail feathers. It’s mask now grows, covering the outside of the mask, and it now looks like a snowflake.
      Now that it’s feathers are icicles, Decidueye uses them as arrows, which are considerable more effective than its previous ones. When its prey gets lost in a snowstorm (in which it creates) it will shoot a multitude of arrows out of nowhere, confusing the prey until it falls.

  147. Recently, I’ve been doing an X Nuzlocke (first Nuzlocke challenge ever), with these rules added on: 1) No megas 2) no exp share 3) No potions during Gym Battles, E4 battles, or Champion battles. I’m at Camphrier Town, and so far, three have perished….
    This is the current team:

    Derek (Sentret) Lv 10
    Azure (Azurill) Lv 16
    Blade (Budew) Lv 15

    And these are the ones who have fallen:
    Funnel (Bunnelby) Lv 9 – Killed by Viola’s Vivillion
    Zephyr (Pidgey) Lv 14 – Killed by Rising Star Hamish’s Kadabra on Route 5
    Stinger (Beedrill) Lv 13 – Killed by Rising Star Hamish’s Kadabra on Route 5

    It’s been some pretty rough luck with the Pokemon I’ve caught, and some of these battles are damn hard. But in a way, I’m happy that X is challenging now.

    • Idk if you took my words and tried an XY nuzlocke, but Im glad you did anyway. People really underestimate the game. Trust me it will get to a point where you must heal after every battle. Definitely very hard. Good Luck with Grant. He WILL destroy you if unprepared.

          • Really the test fire seems built around showing off the core playstyles and new specials more then anything. The dual splatties are kinda interesting as it seems like their shots don’t fall, but rather evaporate, so you have to aim down to actually paint the ground as opposed to the splatter shot.

    • It’ll probably be in the game, but lets be honest, the splatter shot and the splatter shot Jr are similar enough that you could get an idea of how both play just from the splatter shot, which is the point of a demo.

  156. The Splatoon 2 Global Testfire was good…really good. The gyro controls work really well and I found it cool how you could point to where you wanted to warp to with your controller. Graphics are amazing as well.

    • A little late to help, but for future play-through’s their’s a girl at a stable just outside the death mountain area that will sell you potions to resist the heat. She even outright says you’ll die if you go up there without them, but she’s easily missable.

            Or the ever powerful elemental exoskeleton where you are in a living blob of water (in a humanoid shape) where you can do a ton of abilities

    • Super Strength: Can lift 50-100 times my weight with minimal effort (but fatigue is a very much a issue where I can burn out my strength the more I use it)

      Geokinesis: Minipulate all forms of minerals in any conceivable way (with the proper training and practice) but must be physically touching the ground (mostly limited to common minerals and some metals)

      Superhuman Durability: Can withstand great amounts of pain, like a rampaging Semi Truck collision is the equivalent of being tackled by a average man, this also includes a healing factor but this does take time

            Most legends are stupidly easy to kill with counters. It’s just that there are a fair amount of mons you won’t use, and if you used them, you’d counter legends. Besides, you use Garchomp, and that’s on par with most legend. Just saying. Take your head out of the dirt and clean up your act pumpkin.

          • You can also use mons that can be versatile. For example, Araquanid, a typical bulky attacker, can also run Mirror Coat. I run this as a way to bait electric types into attacking me, just so I can instantly hit them with a mirror coat and kill them on the spot

          • yet another thing we can agree on. Though really I do love how its kinda perfect in that the designs are just that right balance of cute/adorable and ugly at the same time.

          • Just little things that are just off enough that they stand out. Like the crack in the liberty bell. Things like Tohru’s tail being super thick compared to the rest of her body and not really matching her, or Kanna’s design being a clash of gothic and tribal cosplay styles. Its something that kinda unpleasant to look at, but makes the designs a lot more unique and memorable for it. Heck all the design’s sort of match it with Kobayashi’s only real feminine trait being that she has long hair, or that one kid with a shining forehead, but being a girl which is pretty uncommon. Heck even Quetzalcoatl kinda falls into this given her body proportions are kind of in line with Jessica Rabbit, yet she lives in a world such a body shape shouldn’t exist.

          • I mean that by making them imperfect they look a lot better. But yeah, looking like generic humans would be pretty boring.

      • The thing is I think the major critics are looking at it too much like a regular movie. To enjoy it I think you have to be a real fan of the Mighty Morphin seasons. It’s not going to be for anyone looking for a serious “edgy” Power Rangers. It’s certainly less campy than the original show, but it’ does a good job of bringing the characters and general story to the 21st century. Definitely a must see for anyone that was a fan back in the 90’s

          • It’s one of my favorite games. It’s really laid back and relaxing. It’s one of those games where the joy is just improving your stuff. Making a huge awesome farm bit by bit is really fun and there is a Town Hall quest line where you have to fix up this ruined messed up town hall by finding items to stock it with. So if you just come across an item randomly you can head over there can get rewards from it.

            You get into a rhythm with each day. If i plan on Mining then I take care of my crops and animals then by the time i finish everything I can get on the bus to get to the hard mode mining area.

            All of the townsfolk are cool. You can even marry some of them and it’s pretty cool because they slowly open up to you. I married Abigail because she has a SNES in her room and is just the coolest one. But you can form relationships with every person in the town basically. And each character has little cutscenes with you and its really cool.

            Also there are lots of random events like thunderstorms and meteorites that can spice up the daily routine. So overall it’s really great. The only issues I can think of off the top of my head is that the holidays get kinda boring after the first year but there are only two a season so it isn’t that big a deal. You can skip them all together if you really want

          • No it’s in game days. You wake up at 6:00 AM you can do what ever until midnight (if you stay up too late you pass out and lose money) then go to bed and another day starts. It’s closer to Harvest Moon than Animal Crossing

          • I hope the Switch port is good. I hear the controller support kinda sucks on PC but I think that the dev will fix that for the console release.

            (Oh yeah.. this game was made by one guy over like 4 years its crazy)

          • There is so much to it too. It’s amazing. I think he’s still updating it too. He released an update a few months ago that had like 3 new farm layouts, two new romance options and lots of new things to do after the main town hall quest. Co-Op is supposed to be in the works too

    • I took a break with Leaf Green. I hate how most of the games handle the champion/league buildup. I never have motivation to finish it because you have to grind and shit. That’s why B/W are basically perfect because the story includes the league!

          • I’d probably play with my brother, using third party GC controllers but actually playing on the Wii. It’s not optimal but I need something to fill the gaping void in my heart next month. BotW has been great but it’ll only last so long. I’m pretty far in and I’m dreading the end. As petty as it sounds after I finish a game I’ve gotten really invested in I feel really lost, so it’s nice to have a plan.

            That or I have too much free time on my hands.

    • I agree. Naboris has a very interesting puzzle, with the player able to rotate 3 parts of the dungeon in 4 different ways. Whereas with Rudania, only one rotation was allowed, and in one way. Also Naboris has a very challenging boss!

  253. Speaking of DP remakes.
    Can we NOT get DP remakes. DP were horrible games (IMO). They were so boring and slow, and the story and legends, and that whole Gym 4,5,6 confusion. Ugh just so awful. And variety of pokemon was just horrible.
    HOWEVER, I am open for Platinum remake/ sequel. But definitely sequel. I dont think we need remakes, I know remakes are more likely for kids who never played Sinnoh to know what sinnoh was like, but if they can make sequels where you dont NEED to play the past games to understand then that will be perfect.

    • A couple of things………First if they’re hiring it won’t be for Stars. Stars is likely already in development (as per what the original rumor said) and it wouldn’t require anyone really new. All they have to do is scale up the models from SM to the correct resolution and add in whatever they’re planning on doing to make it the “3rd” version. None of that requires a new engine. Second, GF don’t make any of the side games. If they’re hiring new people it’s for only 2 things. A side project unrelated to Pokemon completely (like Tembo, that digger game, Harmoknight, etc) and the main series Pokemon games. Nothing more nothing less.I personally think given the descriptions for all their recent hiring listings that they are prepping for gen 8. They’ll release Stars this year and then next year or even in 2019 release gen 8.

    • I had one video of non-monetized XY content and it got flagged, so I really don’t know how you could. It’s not in the creators program though, I checked.

      • Yeah I think it’s kind of a hit or miss situation from what I see. There are tons of let’s plays for Pokemon on YouTube so obviously they’re cool with it to a certain degree, but finding the right balance will be tricky. I guess one way is to just try it out (monetized or not) and see what happens. Worst case scenario it gets taken down and I get a slap on the wrist.

        • Feh you thought it was perfect, the plot had no pow and things barely amounted to the hype

          The trials were so simple a kindergartner could beat them, small dex is always bad, they totally oversold the Ultra Beasts while in the main story they were basically nonexistent which was stupid on their end and the story lost its luster pretty quickly, a lack of decent final dungeon always costs points, and people are just so blindsided by things that really weren’t there

        • I disagree about the main game.

          -Trials were absolutely no replacement for Gym battles.
          -Alola was a poor region (I’m sorry it’s not as great as everyone says).
          -Small Dex (i dislike Alolans and UBs)

          The only good thing they did was create great characters and have a somewhat emotional plot.

          And the graphics were a massive step up from last gen.

    • Maybe reduce the size of the hips a bit so that the shoulder-hip ratio is a bit more even? That way she still has the impression of large hips but with more natural proportions :).
