Happy International Women’s Day

Women and girls are an important part of the Pokémon world. After all, they protect us (Officer Jennys) and care for us (Nurse Joys) and also train alongside men. Let’s not forget that professors didn’t even ask for a gender when starting the game until 3 years after the series debuted.

I won’t get too sentimental, but here’s to all the females that help make Pokémon great!

      • Ok so like uhgg…. So she was introduced as this mysterious and powerful gym that had a history with the crystal gems and a friendship with Steven. She just wanted to get home, did some really bad things to do it (Steal the ocean, almost drown Steven and Connie) but Steven calmed her down, forgave her, and healed her so she could get back home. Cool.

        So then she comes back with Peridot and Jasper as a prisoner and informant. The way Lapis acts around Jasper shows that they have not had pleasant interactions priotr to arriving on Earth. She even argues with Steven about escaping because she is so hopeless that she just wants the lightest punishment she could get and doesn’t want to risk anything. She later fuses with Jasper to take her as a prisoner and she is out of the show for a while. Good. Enough time to develop Peridot (and she is a whole other can of worms)

        So here is when it starts getting shaky. Malachite comes back RIGHT AS THE CLUSTER IS BEING DEALT WITH. So already we won’t get time to relax after the cluster because Lapis is back in the show. What ever. Fine. So Jasper is gone and it isn’t clear if she’s actually dead or still out there. We don’t know until Alone at Sea which is a long long ways away. Lapis gets a fantastic episode (Same Old World) then right after that, she has to deal with Peridot then she becomes an asshole.

        Despite the fact that Peridot has made it super clear that she wants peace with Lapis, she just won’t have it. She destroys the tape recorder which is what kept Peridot sane basically! Add that to the “lapis did something shitty list”. And I get it. Lapis has some very bad memories of Peri and is hesitant to trust her. BUT IT TAKES ONE EPISODE? Then right after, the rubies come so Lapis doesn’t get time to talk about what happened and adjust to living with Peridot. We’re just jumping into this.

        So she gets Alone at Sea which is a great episode that SHOULD lead into Lapis helping Pearl, Steven and Connie hunt down Jasper to get closure or hell, even just some time to help Lapis heal. But no, she gets squared away just so she could be lazily shipped with Peridot. She could be cut out of like, all the episodes she is in and nothing would be different.

        She does nothing. She never has to deal with the bad things she has done, she never deals with her own issues (she’s an abuse victim, she’s depressed, she possibly has PTSD, etc.) and she does nothing to help other characters in a way that improves herself. Why not help her heal by becoming part of beach city and maybe delivering pizzas or fishing (which is set up in Alone at Sea) for Fish Stew Pizza.

        But no. No no no. They got so lazy.

        • honestly I just chalked that up to it being who she is, I never liked her character, she’s morally weak and mostly self serving. So no that she’s out of harms way and living a peaceful life she can be who she really is…. nothing… she’s not ambitious at all

          • no its not, they still have time to rectify her if they wish, it would be that if they ended the show and never did anything significant with her ever again, but right now, for an 11minute show, she’s unnessecary because they have other things to focus on, its how steven universe does it, there are tons of sub plots and events that they pick up and leave for a while only to go back and tie up loose ends later

            like there is so much going on and with such a character heavy show, you can’t leave them in the dust like they did to Lapis. Get your characters right, then jump into plot

          • no, they need to just give us longer episodes more frequently so I can drown myself in steven universe duh 😛

          • I feel like Steven Universe is like my best friend who is rad but fucks up sometimes but I forgive them because they mean well but they keep fucking up over and over to the point where they are just testing my patience.

            *sigh* Maybe they can pull themselves out of this rut? Maybe? Just maybe?

          • I feel like her abuse doesn’t define her though, but the show makes it seem like it does. That’s the worst part about it.

          • Yes, Jasper was a victim that’s true. But Lapis also was trapped in a mirror and had her gem forcibly removed and cracked. Jasper also wasn’t all that nice to Lapis either, and kind of used her

          • Am I that one annoying fan for wanting her to really emotionally connect with peridot and be able to fuse? Maybe Peridot has some tragic past and they can deal with their probs together. Idk, maybe that’s stupid

          And I feel they might do something with her farther along the road, but shes kind of gone into the “American Laziness” as I call it (No offense to my fellow Americans, but we are pretty f*ckin’ lazy) I feel she has a chance to bounce back

  5. Hey I made a unique idea for two different birds
    first the main Regional Bird
    A Bluejay that becomes Dark/Flying upon final form because they are brutes and territorial and they love to just be bad

    And the second
    A Cardinal that I haven’t given a typing yet, but it hates the Bluejay

    Reason for this story is
    The Bluejay was brought in by a foreign ship then they started to colonize the area and started pushing out the Cardinal till they both sat in stalemates against each other over territory, but they get into epic brawls

  7. I’ve seen people suggest that I put EV’s into HP for Wishiwashi..but doesn’t that seem pointless? Shouldn’t I invest them into Sp. Def instead since its HP is so low?

  9. Various Japanese TV Guides have revealed the next pair of new episode titles from Pokémon Sun & Moon. These episodes are set to air on April 6th as part of a one-hour special. March 30th is a week off. The first features Ash bonding with Pikachu while the final episode features Litten request Ash’s help with the Stoutland it lives with
    Episode 964: The Promise Between Ash and Pikachu
    Episode 965: It is Time for Litten to Set Off!

    • Not sure why for the bonding Ash and Pikachu episode, I mean they already trust one another in battle and are great friends. Also, this is the whole Sandile situation again with Ash and Litten isn’t it?

  13. So kinda off topic, but still fun to mention in a horrible sort of way. You know that massive Wikileak’s leak among the cia. Three of the cia’s hacking software are named Spearow, Tododile, and Dugtrio. Just another reminder that we are the generation of nerds, even among our spies. Now back to the rather horrifying implication’s of all of those leaks.

  23. Corner of Irrelevancy 1: Musharna (That pink thing with the smoke coming out of its head)

    Overview: Despite the fact that it had a minor role in the story of B/W and a bit of relevance in Su/Mo NU, nobody really remembers this thing. A lot of Pokemon in B/W were really good, but a bunch were forgotten pretty easily. With Victini, Meloetta, Reuniclus, Gothitelle, and the near unanimously hated Woobat, Munna and Musharna were eclipsed by other pokemon in the same gen in every way.

    The mist is packed with dreams of people, and that they change color based on the kind of dreams it has eaten….
    The question is…. how can it be relevant?
    Simple…… Give this thing a Mega

    Why a Mega and not an evolution? Well because of this

    This Pokemon is this mysterious figure that lurks within the dreamyard. Why give an evolution to a pokemon like this that already has an established sort of theme? A mega can be like what happens when it absorbs enough dreams, or a last ditch weapon. Or a protection against people taking dream mist. Remember that scene in BW 1 with team plasma?
    Obviously the mega would keep its typing, it fits it
    It would probably become bulkier since Musharna isn’t exactly known for being an attacker of any sort, it just floats around eating dreams.
    For an ability, let’s give it a new one… I can’t think of a name yet though
    It’ll be like leech seed, but only work when the foe is asleep.
    Perhaps with a Mega, this Pokemon might once again relevant?
    One day I hope my DREAM of making this Pokemon relevant will come true.

    I love Pokemon… it’s been around for my whole life, and I’ve changed quite a bit in my life… Sometimes I look back at my nicknames from as early as ORAS and XY and I think…
