Pikachu Batteries Recalled for Unintended Sparks

Turns out batteries are best left to bunnies, not mice (Energizer joke). Two varieties of mobile smartphone back-up batteries are being recalled in Japan, one featuring Pikachu and the other a generic Pokéball image. Buyers reported that the units became uncomfortably hot and some even saw smoke.

If you came into possession of one of these, please see the page linked above for refund instructions or contact the seller! For the rest of us, let this be a lesson that Pikachu’s power cannot be harnessed so easily by human technology!

  1. As horrible as this is, it is always nice to see something that creates such a perfect title.

    In other news, Finished Breath of the Wild, and yeah with out question its a 10/10 for me. Probably the most fun I’ve had in an open world game that didn’t make me feel fatigued, lovable characters, fantastic music, a great battle system, good dungeons, and while bosses were a little lack luster, they never didn’t feel epic right to the final moment. I really did like the idea of discovering Link’s past more by exploring the world rather then a conventional story, though I hope that don’t do it again. Also I’ll admit, seeing the final name in the credits, knowing it would probably be the name everyone’s eyes would naturally fall on brought a tear to my eye. Really id this is our only zelda entry for the switch, I couldn’t be happier.

    • The game’s really great, definitely the best Zelda I ever played (and I played them almost all) and maybe eve the best game I ever played. It’s not perfect, there are some small annoyances that could be improved on (larger dungeons, an unbreakable weapon or at least one easy to repair, more traditional music tracks,…) but what it does it does sooo well. It’s really pushing the genre forward and that’s why I still think it deserves the 98 MC score.

      • Technically there is an unbreakable weapon being the master sword. It does break, but it has a timer before its fully repaired, something like ten minutes.

      • The game’s as fast as you want it to be. I finished it with 45 shrines finished, all of the memories found, and with the master sword. In total I had 18 hearts and really didn’t even bother fully upgrading my armor since it takes 10k ruppies to unlock the final fairy fountain. Just go at your own pace and enjoy the game how you want to.

Well I sit alone in a blizzard in the confines of a empty house, the snow whiteness eliminating all vision, I turn my tv around to the foot of my bed and take my memory foam wedge and have Switch in hand, I wish not for dry sunny forests and mountains I yearn to climb the icy peaks or northern Lanaryu maybe I’ll find the dragon and claim a shard of horn to finish my armor

      • I’m always happy to see more fire emblem as well, but I’m really not a fan of the fact that it seems to be a 1to1 remake of Gaiden. Gaiden has a lot of mechanics that I can’t stand, like certain classes being near god-tier broken where others are completely broken or magic costing hp to use, or even making leveling pretty much pointless since every character has all of their stats risen to a certain preset number when classing up, meaning its best to class up as soon as possible, instead og getting as many stat points as possible.

        I’ve always like the pokemon way of making remakes in which they use more modern mechanics instead of the old ones.

      • I’d say its more of a test to see if there’s a market for the older games, which there isn’t that much of a market for, but yeah. And by that I mean that really there aren’t any other FE games they can remake. 4 can’t be remade due to its content not being kid-friendly, 5’s a squeal to 4, 6-8 sell well on the VC still, and 9 and 10 would be a nightmare and a half to try to put on the VC and preformed fairly poorly.

          • There are several points in 4 that would need to be heavily altered or simply can’t be altered due to story reasons that would give the game an M raking with out question. Some of these points include having the first female character you see in the game be raped by a bandit, having the first main character burned at the stake, having a female character CANONICALLY cheat on her husband(one of your party members) with another man(another one of your party members), and LOTS of Incest. Really combine that with the fact that gameplay wise 4’s not the best, and you have a hard sell to Nintendo to fund the game.

            As for six, yeah it wasn’t released outside of Japan, but it’s also not that good of the game either. There’s a reason why Roy’s considered the worst lord in the series. Seven and Eight are much better games in terms of gameplay, and both still sell well enough on the VC. So might as well do the bare min. of work, rather then spending money on something that will probably sell just as well.

    With grants me a whopping 60 defense and increased charge attack with stamina to boot….it was worth getting molested by the Great Fairy, I wonder if the climbing gear would have set bonuses if upgraded

  30. My day went really well. I got Horizon: Zero Dawn and I believe there is a Switch Pro Controller in the mail. I also got a brownie in a cup. I couldn’t ask for anything more on my birthday. I also find it incredible that my birthday is on “Mar10 Day” of all days, being a huge Nintendo fan and all. I don’t really believe in coincidences.

  32. I haven’t gotten very far story wise in Zelda, been exploring a ton really xD Finding so many Korok’s. But I just learned how to kill a guardian for the first time, without attacking them at all omg.

    • It deserves it but I can’t help but feel there’s some lost potential.

      It’s absolutely amazing but there are still many flaws, but I can get past them because of how fun the game is.

        – the world is too small

        • I got a few.
          -Enemy variety.
          -Frame rate.
          -Weapon durability is a fine concept but it is not executed well.
          -Story is not for everyone. I enjoyed it but the way it works may disappoint some.
          -Dungeons are small and fairly easy. I did not mind this but a lot of people were disappointed.
          -That final boss tho

          • don’t tell me about the final boss, I’ve been able to avoid heavy spoilers so far.

            And yeah forgot frame rate. Even though it doesn’t really hinder my play like it might to some people, it’s definitely an issue

          • Just wait for death mountain. It straight up froze there for me, as ironic as that sounds.

          • The game doesn’t allow it to drop below 20 fps iirc, so it just freezes the game till it can run above that.

        • I want to see as much third party games released as possible tho… Like, I know the nintendo games are gonna be good, but the more third party games the more sales by non-nintendo fans which I think will make or break this console.

          • Yeah, but if I’m being honest I don’t see all the AAA third party titles coming to switch. Maybe some, but not all multiplats. It’s Nintendo, let’s be honest.

          • oh it might have been. But either way, games LIKE the last guardian which are a bit more family friendly I think would attract more people. But either way I’m amazed by Nintendo’s initial success and the more games that are released the better it will get 😀

          • Yep, hopefully they can keep up this momentum. E3 2017 is very crucial, it’ll be interesting to see whether people jump on the switch bandwagon or the “nintendoom” bandwagon.

    • Honestly probably not till May, that’s the sweet spot for me. June is too late since they would never announce at E3 and April seems too early.

      • Well you see I was introduced to this from Chuggaconroy’s Xenoblade Chronicals Let’s Play so that’s all I know. Then I got X and played up to the part blue tits is introduced and realized the story was shitty and kept from from the fun part which was exploring the world

        • Omg seriously, just ignore the story if you hate it. The exploration is just too fun to pass up, if you aren’t playing because of the story, just ignore it. Consider it a sandbox game, idk, just don’t let the sucky story get in the way of the world

          • But there is so much I can’t do. Like there was a whole sectioned blocked off for me because there were these level 80 assholes blocking the way and so many places I needed a Skell to access and I just don’t care enough to go through all that

          • And that’s another issue. As soon as you get the shells the exploration gets a ton less fun because you can just fly over everything and drop exactly where you need.

        • Oddly hearing a character be called “blue tits” makes me smile more then it really should. But yeah, X’s story was bad and can’t be forgiven.

          • No but like, I’m all for sexy video game characters but she’s like the general isn’t she? Shouldn’t she be in protective armor like, she’s pretty important. At least someone like Widowmaker makes sense because she is sort of a seductress type character and she is a Sniper so she needs mobility but it’s just lazy

          • Yeah, I know what you saying. I mean it really depends on how its justified to make it work. Like Camilla in Fates. She’s a bit under dressed, but at least its clear she’s wearing armor, and in universe it does make sense for her to show off some of her features. But yeah, X did it bad.

          • I want X2 just to give us a proper ending. It’s like they had a cool idea for a premise and didn’t know how to end it.

            And also I feel like “blue tits” could apply to multiple characters in the game lol

      • This is correct, though to add 2 does has chronicles in its title. X seem’s to be their Sci-Fi spinoff, where chronicles will be the main series for now.

          • That would be really strange given X means Cross, not ten, and you would have to explain how they eventually end up on earth, but that would be a great troll move, right up there with the Millennium Falcon troll in Berserk.

            I mean the protag’s canon name is cross but I always thought that was just a slight nod to the title.

          • Really I don’t know how you should say it at this point. Merely that in Japanese X does mean cross, hence why you see thing like the x-naughts in Thousand year door, or why you tend to see series cross overs represented by the names having a X between them.

    My stupid fucking broken, defective ear went numb in the inner ear i still can hear but it feels somebody lined my inner ear with cotton AND ITS DRIVING ME FUCKING INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every time i put my finger in my ear all i hear is a ultra high frequency and it HURTS and the worst part is i can’t tell if i have tinnitus attacks or that my brain just imagines them

    i feel like smashing my own skull open just to try and fiddle with my ear canal just to get it feeling right

    these ear things are happening way too frequently each day and it will ultimately lead to permanent deafness or me killing myself in a fit of rage due to aggravation

    I truly hate my body and the millions of problems it carries

  59. Alright it’s come to my attention that things like Hippowdon throw a wrench in my team
    i want to give Golisopod Liquidation as a hard counter by that means giving up either Aqua Jet or Swords Dance CURSE YOU FOUR SLOT MOVE SYNDROME

    because this Golisopod is actually Defensive and it works so well, since Swords Dance boosted leech life keeps it happy and priority is it’s biggest perk

        • Great job finding them all, but really you never need more then maybe 30 or so. Really once you have enough to carry around ten weapons, you really don’t need any more.

          • hahaha. Well good luck with that hell. Its really not worth doing, but enjoy it. Really a lot of things to complete this game just come down to farming, like how it takes something like 11.6k ruppies to complete all the fairy fountains, an extra 3k to buy a house, and I think like 4.3k Mon to get that one special set of armor that requires you selling countless monster parts to a certain vendor, but good luck with your venture.

    • Yes and no. You can beat him right at the start of the game, but its very difficult. Like without spoiling the fight, it really tests your ability to defeat Guardians, if you know what I mean.

    • I did it by looking for an news article on the subject, and found one that gave me a link to a PGL page where you supposedly get the gift… Can post the link if you want. Other than that I have no idea.
      Went to the link but found out there was none for me because suddenly you had to have played 3 battles which I didn’t see written anywhere beforehand (1@é&#&cking ù$ù`ù$ù$sses). I guess it was to punish people like me that played 1 token battle with their in-game team which they catastrophically lost (only to then discover that I couldn’t even get my team out of the PC without connecting to the internet because screw me right -_-) because they couldn’t be bothered to waste time actually participating.
      At least they’re distributing them to everyone next month…

  74. Now I have 1 boss, 70 shrines, and a ridiculous number of Koroks left in Breath of the Wild. This has been an intense journey so far, but one I will see to the end (or close to it). Without a doubt, this is Nintendo at its very best.

  75. Probably unpopular opinion: I want Nintendo to continue to vary Link’s design from game to game. Nothing wrong with the green tunic and cap, but I think they could make much better designs if they don’t feel limited to go back to the hero’s garb.

    • I’m with you on that. I like seeing variants on his design, and I think that making the green tunic a secret item like it is in BotW is a good compromise.

    I’m well aware with the fact that its a very risky set, but it’s been working a lot of times thanks to Decidueye’s average Def bulk and very good SP Def bulk. Basically, I set up Swords Dance before the foe manages to wittle Decidueye’s HP down to 1/4, which is when the Salac Berry kicks in. Once it does, it essentially releases all hell, and, thanks to Overgrow kicking in, Leaf Blade will deal insane damage (along with that it has increased chances of critical hits). Spirit Shackle is there for a strong physical Ghost move, while Acrobatics helps with damage for other types.

      Leaf blade
      SS are his best sweeper moves, along with jolly, so good on you for that

      However, his last move should not be acro, it’s a little too situational

      Deci-Z, or removing SD for a choice item are the best options

  91. Ok….Samurai Jack season 5 was absolutely amazing
    Even with 13 years off the air this truly felt like it never left us. everything is beautifully designed and the world feels alive and dynamic, (trying not to get all spoilerly) but this Samurai Jack as a character is different. He is tormented and guilt ridden due to his journey still going painfully prolonged, he finds himself in doubt of his goals and feels like he has let everyone down. Meanwhile for the first time in the show we have a reoccurring force in pursuit of stopping jack outside common bounty hunters and monsters of the week. A cult dedicated to killing the samurai, brutally training assassins to kill Jack from the moment they were born….”The Daughters of Aku”
    And finally the show may have a darker seriously air to it but that still has not alienated the use of comedy in the form of a flamboyant assassin who constantly toys and flirts with Jack, pointing out his numerous changes and tells what the audience is actually thinking, all this while still giving a dynamo fight that has the truest elements of any Samurai Jack fight, stylish, perfectly choreographed and tense.
