Women and girls are an important part of the Pokémon world. After all, they protect us (Officer Jennys) and care for us (Nurse Joys) and also train alongside men. Let’s not forget that professors didn’t even ask for a gender when starting the game until 3 years after the series debuted.
I won’t get too sentimental, but here’s to all the females that help make Pokémon great!

A glitch in Sun and Moon allows you to finish Poke Pelago activities in 60 seconds, seriously hope GF doesn’t fix this because it makes things a lot easier

Yep. start the activity you want. Save the game, then change your 3DS clock to 31/01/2017 and 23:59. Let the clock go to 00:00, boot up your game again and the activities are finished.
Got several perfect 6IV lv100s well under 2 hours doing this, and its hack free so it doesn’t make you feel guilty either.

I feel like looking at things in such a generalised way isn’t necessarily helpful. I have personally struggled for much of my life and frankly still am, perhaps more than ever. Being expected to be OK because of Gender or Race is actually a problem and why many men don’t speak out when they are struggling.
Also I don’t want to talk about race but it is much more of an issue in America than it is here.
I don’t think that’s really the point though? Like of course people are going to struggle and have problems in their life regardless of gender or race or anything else but men haven’t really had to fight for the right to vote or to be treated equally to men. Women still have to fight for their reproductive rights.

If you want to give those who have struggled a day that’s coo, but giving a day for all men is also generalizing and there are certainly many men that don’t deserve that kind of praise. As a white male in middle class (America) I can tell you that I’ve never once had to deal with being stereotyped and I appreciate that immensely. I can’t begin to comprehend how it feels for people of minorities of all kinds to be given problems for simply being “different” I know this makes me sound like an asshole (and it certainly does), but it’s hard for some to really understand how another feels without having gone through the same treatment. For that reason it is kind of hard for me to describe my own standing without making me sound like an asshat. Either way my point is that men over all have had it pretty good and when people try to act like they haven’t it’s incredibly disrespectful to those who have. *sigh*…..I never meant to get into something like this….hahaha
I don’t think we should have a day for it either. I would also suggest there are many women that don’t deserve that kind of praise. Not treating people as individuals leads to arguments. Simple qualifiers like ‘most’ or ‘many’ would often help to avoid arguments I feel. I also didn’t really want to get into this but nobody is without flaw.

Hopefully she came across better in the anime. In the game it felt like she was a throwback to “damsel in distress” tropes. Wanting to save her mother was good, but she had very little active role in it. There was a lot of potential in exploring a non-trainer being central to the plot, but it was all “I need you to do X” not “let’s do X together”. The only thing she had going for her in the game storytelling was character growth that was gradual and natural rather than the usual sudden heel-turn I see at the end of a lot of games.
Personally, I liked Mina. She kind of blew off her job as captain, but then gave one of the best captain battles in the game as a casual afterthought. She had a major character flaw while still being a strong person with agency.
Really though, Pokémon has always had such good female characters. Kinda amazing how other game devs struggle with writing a girl but Game Freak does it right. Writing them as characters lol

I really like BotW’s design, especially the hair design. In some shots the face looks too round but overall it’s a very nice design, I like her dress too.
Many people will probably say TP, I can agree with that, she really looks like a princess (maybe even queen) but her face looks too serious and I dislike the brown hair.
SS one is nice too, reminds me a bit of a past girlfriend :P.

1) Misty. Where to start? She was always so tough in the anime and put stupid Ash in his place.
She was fiery, but compassionate when she wanted to be.

Zelda BotW arrived yesterday! I’ve been playing it so much and I love it. It’s also been challenging, which is simultaneously refreshing and frustrating.
Difficulty drops off after a while though. There are still some difficulty spikes, but I haven’t died in the last five hours I played. Feels good to get revenge on enemies that kicked your ass in the first hours of the game.
Aww I kind of wanted it to stay hard. I suppose since there’s no set path, everything has to be more or less the same difficulty.
I just got done beating the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Nearly kicked my butt b/c I didn’t have nearly enough arrows, food, and only had 4 hearts
Don’t worry, there are still tough fights if you want to go in head first. Some enemies will still outclass you and the best weapons in the game are not much more powerful than what you can find in the midgame. You just get better at avoiding fights, finding alternate paths, using your wit to tackle a group of enemies… The skills you pick up from defeating beasts also help, Mipha’s Grace is one of the main reasons I hardly die anymore. That and because I pick up like 10 fairies each time I go to the Fairy Fountain. Only annoying enemies are the guardians, it is hard to run away from them if you are in no need for a fight.

Man, I play so much everyday and I still feel like you are way ahead of me. How many shrines have you done already? I’m now on my way to Goron City, just got the Master Sword so I can take on the dungeon bosses and going to beat all four dungeon bosses before I go retrieve all my memories . After that it’s big boss time I guess :D!
I have 18 hearts and right now and did all 4 Dungeons with I’m kinda hunting Lynels which are becoming my new favorite thing to do, I want to get all memories, dragons and have at least 25 hearts before I tackle the castle

So let me clarify.. the Switch saves games to the system, but not to your account? So if you bought a new Switch, you couldn’t keep your purchases?

From my understanding, if you bought a new switch you could not transfer purchases. So if your switch gets destroyed you might lose everything. I don’t think they save to the SD or cartridge. I could be wrong, but I think that’s what Legume was saying..

She’s an adorable child, and is an amazing character in the anime Series. Bonnie is an outgoing child, and loves pokemon. She is MUCH better than Max due to her not constantly nagging her brother, nor acting like a complete know it all. I believe Bonnie character is the representation of Bravery.

“Whaaaat the main girl of Hoenn, your favorite region is only number 4???” Yea this shocked me too. Originally May used to be my favorite Pokemon girl, I mean come on, who couldnt love that bandana, Torchic, and those gloves. But after some reflecting, I realized May, while very cool, doesnt have THAT much development or depth to her character. Sure at first she hated pokemon, but her attitude changes so quickly that you forget that she used to hate them. The best thing May brought to the series is contest battles. Now, Ash isnt the main target of everything.

“Whaaaat The Main girl from Sinnoh is higher than main girl for Hoenn???” Yea this really shocked me as well. After I rewatched Sinnoh, I realized how Good Dawn is. She actually develops. In direct contrast to May’s hate for pokemon but natural talent, Dawn loves pokemon, and always knew she wanted to be a coordinator, but Dawn was just awful in contests, Losing twice in a row (both in the performance stage).Thus causing her to enter a mini depressive state where she didnt want to perform in contests anymore. This caused never before seen development in a character. Most characters in the show always push on, but Dawn actually was about to quit. We also Dawn actually learning from Ash. She goes from always losing to 2nd place in the Grand Festival.

Now I dont have MUCH to say for Serena because I have nt finishied the Kalos anime yet, but I knew she’s just awesome. Serena was actually lost on what to do with herself. Most characters in the show know what they want to be/ do from the start, but Serena actually was lost. Fans have always hinted Misty liked Ash or Mayliked Ash (Ew), but this was actually confirmed. Not only this, but Serena was actually attracted to Ash which caused for great moments for the show. I still need to watch more of the show, but her development to where Ive seen (a little after her haircut) made me love her.

Im gonna keep this one short because everyone just played SM, so everyone pretty much knows why she would be here. Lillie is just awesome. She grows as a character from Helpless to Helpful, not only her growth, but the fact she’s in game character, unlike every other character on this list, is strong. Sun and Moon demonstrated they can make an amazing cast of very different characters in Pokemon games.

and to make matters even more daunting i done reached Hyrule Castle and beat Calamity Ganon, but decided not to fight the final final boss until i have all memories, the majority of shines completed, and until i see the three dragons and earned their blessings also upgrade some stuff and activate the last two fairy fountains

Ima be honest, the art style changing isn’t that big of a deal to me. But the story telling part…season 4 has been really weak. It’s not that there’s too much filler, it’s that they’re focusing on the WRONG characters with that filler. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some good eps this season. The first episode with smokey quartz was good. The zoo stuff was generally interesting. Mindful education was good. Other than those, you could skip like everything…

Why?
Ok so like uhgg…. So she was introduced as this mysterious and powerful gym that had a history with the crystal gems and a friendship with Steven. She just wanted to get home, did some really bad things to do it (Steal the ocean, almost drown Steven and Connie) but Steven calmed her down, forgave her, and healed her so she could get back home. Cool.
So then she comes back with Peridot and Jasper as a prisoner and informant. The way Lapis acts around Jasper shows that they have not had pleasant interactions priotr to arriving on Earth. She even argues with Steven about escaping because she is so hopeless that she just wants the lightest punishment she could get and doesn’t want to risk anything. She later fuses with Jasper to take her as a prisoner and she is out of the show for a while. Good. Enough time to develop Peridot (and she is a whole other can of worms)
So here is when it starts getting shaky. Malachite comes back RIGHT AS THE CLUSTER IS BEING DEALT WITH. So already we won’t get time to relax after the cluster because Lapis is back in the show. What ever. Fine. So Jasper is gone and it isn’t clear if she’s actually dead or still out there. We don’t know until Alone at Sea which is a long long ways away. Lapis gets a fantastic episode (Same Old World) then right after that, she has to deal with Peridot then she becomes an asshole.
Despite the fact that Peridot has made it super clear that she wants peace with Lapis, she just won’t have it. She destroys the tape recorder which is what kept Peridot sane basically! Add that to the “lapis did something shitty list”. And I get it. Lapis has some very bad memories of Peri and is hesitant to trust her. BUT IT TAKES ONE EPISODE? Then right after, the rubies come so Lapis doesn’t get time to talk about what happened and adjust to living with Peridot. We’re just jumping into this.
So she gets Alone at Sea which is a great episode that SHOULD lead into Lapis helping Pearl, Steven and Connie hunt down Jasper to get closure or hell, even just some time to help Lapis heal. But no, she gets squared away just so she could be lazily shipped with Peridot. She could be cut out of like, all the episodes she is in and nothing would be different.
She does nothing. She never has to deal with the bad things she has done, she never deals with her own issues (she’s an abuse victim, she’s depressed, she possibly has PTSD, etc.) and she does nothing to help other characters in a way that improves herself. Why not help her heal by becoming part of beach city and maybe delivering pizzas or fishing (which is set up in Alone at Sea) for Fish Stew Pizza.
But no. No no no. They got so lazy.
honestly I just chalked that up to it being who she is, I never liked her character, she’s morally weak and mostly self serving. So no that she’s out of harms way and living a peaceful life she can be who she really is…. nothing… she’s not ambitious at all
And thats super shitty writing honestly. With how much weight to the story they gave her, for her to just be a selfish asshole with little personality is just amazingly bad
no its not, they still have time to rectify her if they wish, it would be that if they ended the show and never did anything significant with her ever again, but right now, for an 11minute show, she’s unnessecary because they have other things to focus on, its how steven universe does it, there are tons of sub plots and events that they pick up and leave for a while only to go back and tie up loose ends later

Oh, I guess that should be given a bit more of an explanation. Basically Wikileaks leaked a bunch of files from the CIA that talked about a number of things. Things like their hacking software, that they were deliberately lying to companies and not informing them of exploits they found in software to hack their devices like Iphones, and even had software to hack Samsung Smart tv’s to record conversations from them with appearing to be turned off. Kinda scary stuff, but I figured that it was a bit amusing that some of their hacking software was named after pokemon, as well as some of the sillier names of their plans/missions. Really though its worth a read. The leaks are being called Vault 7.

Overview: Despite the fact that it had a minor role in the story of B/W and a bit of relevance in Su/Mo NU, nobody really remembers this thing. A lot of Pokemon in B/W were really good, but a bunch were forgotten pretty easily. With Victini, Meloetta, Reuniclus, Gothitelle, and the near unanimously hated Woobat, Munna and Musharna were eclipsed by other pokemon in the same gen in every way.

This Pokemon is this mysterious figure that lurks within the dreamyard. Why give an evolution to a pokemon like this that already has an established sort of theme? A mega can be like what happens when it absorbs enough dreams, or a last ditch weapon. Or a protection against people taking dream mist. Remember that scene in BW 1 with team plasma?
Obviously the mega would keep its typing, it fits it

What I really don’t like about the newer gens is the lack of good spin off games.
Gen 3 and Gen 4 had such great spin offs, while the newer gens focus more on casual free to play games
They milked PMD and Ranger to death, and I would argue that they weren’t even that good to begin with. Gen I/II had the better spin-offs with Stadium, Snap, TCG on GBC, Pinball,… Rumble and Poképark were shit, too.

Generally the only real things of note is that Cloud saves are likely to come in the future to it and that they kinda said that there’s a good chance that Smash 4 won’t be getting a port to the switch and instead are focusing their efforts on smash 5.

so now that some of us have own a switch, do you still want to see a Mainline pokemon game on it or should it stick to the 3ds?
Yeah, and here’s why:
1) I want Pokemon on the TV, ’nuff said.
2) Pokemon is a HUGE system seller and Nintendo desperately needs this console to succeed.
3) Pokemon on the TV
4) SM was already pushing the limits of the hardware of the 3DS. I mean seriously, the system could barely handle the game.
5) Pokemon games ON THE BIG SCREEN
6) Pokemon in HD!!!
7) This would push the Switch as truly a combination of Nintendo’s handhelds and consoles, as opposed to simply a console that can be taken places (because honestly, it’s more of a handheld than an actual console).
Sure there’s the argument that it needs two screens but if we’re being honest they never used the second screen that creatively. We’d be missing out on Pokemon Amie and some menus.

Nah. No need. I’ve made my point before that I feel that it simply wouldn’t work. Pokemon does sell, but its also sold well with selling on cheaper hardware and aiming more and kids, which the switch doesn’t really do. I’d love to see Pokemon in HD, but I do feel it should stick to what ever is cheaper to develop on, which as of this time is the 3DS.
But yeah, by all means I would love to see something like a Pokemon coliseum or XD, but not trash on the switch as a compromise.

Yeah, that’s true. But I was speaking more from a consumer standpoint then a Dev one. A parent can buy a console and pokemon game for their kid for less then half the cost of a switch alone, which will always sound more appealing to them. That, and after seeing people testing the switch to see how durable they are, I don’t have a lot of fate that Nintendo made them with kids in mind.
I see valid points from both sides. That said, if they haven’t already started developing a main series game for it, I’m sure they’ve considered it
Most certainly, they’ve said so them selves that they are looking into the possibility of developing on the switch. It’ll just be a case of seeing if its worth developing more for the switch, the 3DS, or what ever Nintendo has planned next. And even then It’ll probably take like 2-3 years for that game to be made.

I forgot Clair. I love Clair’s personality, she was a strong person, and felt no one should be able to conquer her. I even loved how she cried and went to the Dragon’s Den to test the player’s courage. I know it’s an annoying attitude but it’s a realistic one to have for someone people barely beat.
