Pokkén Tournament Confirmed for World Championships, Switch Version Coming?

The big confirmed news of the day is that Pokkén Tournament will be returning to the Pokémon World Championships 2017. It was noticeably absent from the schedule that was first announced for Worlds, but Japanese sources have confirmed that the fighting game will be returning again this year according to Serebii.

Various tuning tweaks are slated to go live for the arcade version in Japan on Tuesday, but the Wii U version remains noticeably behind. The console version even lacks playable characters that have been available to arcade players for months. Fans will hopefully see an update, but nothing official has been announced.

One interesting prospect raised by presence of Pokkén Tournament at Worlds is the possibility that it will be re-released for the new Nintendo Switch console. With Wii U production officially ended it wouldn’t necessarily make sense to promote a game for a dead console. It seems likely that the title will see a port which may include the features and updates that the Wii U version currently lacks. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for news on the matter!

  1. Oh right from earlier I’m making an anime team for my region for Ash so…

  2. So I’ve started my next SOS shiny hunt. It’s for Ledyba. The reason I’m doing Ledyba is because for some reason I have a shiny Ledian page in my Pokedex. I’m not sure where that came from tho as I’m pretty positive I don’t have one. I think it came from me playing around with the qr scanner when the game came out and I must have scanned a shiny Ledian code. Either way I’d like to rectify me not actually having one by actually having one lol

      • I think it’s from a time when I found a list of qr codes for the entire dex and was just playing around with it. I also have a shiny Rowlet sprite in my dex, but I certainly don’t have that yet lol

  3. Ugh I miss Club Nintendo. They said My Nintendo was going to be a much better replacement but the rewards are trash.

  4. So I’ve been going back to watch “Xenoblade Chronicles: The Movie”, a.k.a. the 10 hours of cutscenes in the game over the past few days and wow, I really hadn’t realized how much character development is in the game. Melia is really really fleshed out, moreso than the rest honestly.

  5. “Documentation on this pokemon is minimal due to its dangerous capabilities. Despite looking like an egg (and possibly even being an egg), the humorously dubbed Maleggvolent is no laughing matter. Getting close to this pokemon is known to cause death to some. The sentience of this pokemon is still being debated. Supposedly, the appearance of this Pokemon is the supposed cause of the “Bad Egg Phenomenon.”

    Just something for ya

  7. In my games, there will be a new weather system:

    Nighttime
    Effects:
    – Increases the Power of Dark Type Moves by 50%
    – Decreases Fighting type moves by 50%
    – Moonlight and Wish will recover 2/3 hp
    – Moves with Sleep Status effect will now have a 100% chance of inflicting the target
    – Changes Castform to Darkness Form
    – Weather Ball is now a Dark Type moves in Nightfall and doubles power
    – Accuracy of Solarbeam is 50%

As well with most weather, there will be a new move for causing Nighttime:
    Nightfall
    Type: Dark
    Power: —
    Category: Status
    PP: 10
The user shoots a shadowy pulse into the sky, which makes the weather nighttime. It raises the power of all Dark type moves.

    • my legends have weather abilities
      Smog Zone and Tranquility

Smog Zone creates a poisonous haze that engulfs the field and all pokemon are considered poisoned so moves like Venoshock Venom Drench, Facade, Poison Heal all work

and Tranquility all pokemon’s status effects are healed and the all bystanders regain health

  8. Sorry for all the pointless Xenoblade talk but I SWEAR if you like JRPGs at all, no, just video games in general you absolutely need to play Xenoblade Chronicles. It’s the only game that’s competing with HGSS for my favorite game ever and that’s really saying something.

  10. Also I want to make a Fakemon that has whirlpool powers and its ability would be Undertow which is a Water type Arena Trap

Maybe some fat round frog/toad that live under the water and their mighty inhaling abilities cause nightmarish whirlpools that suck down everything

          • Rippole
            The tide Pkm
            Water
            Undertow
A small somewhat deformed frog halfway through its metamorphosis; it has a round pale green body and nub like limbs and a long paddle like tail, it has patches on its face similar to cheeks and dot like eyes
“Large groups of Rippole swim in unison to create powerful currents of water to disorient prey, waters inhabited by Rippole are forbidden to swim in”

            Undyrtoad
            The Vortex Pkm
            Water
            Undertow (Pokemon cannot switch out)
It is a very large round and bulbous frog like Pokemon (like the size of a small car) with a extremely large stomach and mouth, its body is blue green has a sea foam green stomach area, it has stern angry eyes with a coiled fluffy eyebrow, a flat nose and long webbed arms and legs, on its back are a series of pockets and boils
“It creates violent whirlpools by sucking in water through their mouths like a vacuum, they are even capable of pulling down large and heavy ships”

*they also can store water in their cheeks inflate themselves and blast out water strong enough to knock over a cruise ship”

          • It has literally no other type that can go with it
It’s a frog that lives in the ocean and creates deadly whirlpools

    • Honestly its not that bad for what it is. The games already been shown to be pretty hard by open world standards, so locking what likely will be a hardcore(Virtually everything one-shot’s you early on) mode behind a paywall makes sense. Otherwise it doesn’t seem bad for $20. Then again Zelda’s not my cup of tea, and the internet’s kind of a whine man-child when it comes to DLC because people range from fearing that any DLC is cut content from the game, to feeling that any post release content should be given free as their purchase of the game should be what pay’s for it.
