  12. I just returened from the VGC tourney.

    As I predicted my gimmicky team made it too easy to reach top 8, but got rekt in the first match of top cut which is a best 2 out of 3…

    Winner has an Incineroar in their team, which is super cool. He used it to beat up a team of 2 tapus 1 UB’s…

    • grats making it to top cut. My understanding of VGC’s point system is a bit limited, but hopefully you were able to earn some points making it to top cut?

        Starting VGC ’17, it depends on tournament size. I haven’t memorized it, but I’m almost positive that a 36-person tourney isn’t enough for 5th-8th place to get championship points, sadly.

        I’m ok with the performance though, considering it’s a team I put together in a week after I was dissatisfied with my Tapu Lele team.

        I got a compliment from the runner up (the one who rekt me in top 8) that my team was crazy and it made him really nervous despite the 0-3 (he also defeated me in pools).

  25. I actually did it….

    It was pretty long(took a month) and I didn’t think I was going to make it. Sometimes, I even wanted to give up, but I had so much help, it really kept me going! Thank you to everyone on Pokejungle who helped me get so far! It was long, tedious, and sometimes felt unsatisfactory, but in the end it was soooo worth it for the shiny charm! Now to start breeding!

  29. Honestly people that catch their pokemon in normal poke balls are the worst kind of people, and people who then trade them to me grinds my gears. There is no reason to use such things unless you have to or you cant catch them in anything else

  32. that awkward moment when I was getting better IV’s before I had the destiny knot…. now I’m stuck at 4 perfect Iv’s as the max outcome but most of the offspring come out with only 2IV’s and the rest are terrible. A 4 or 5IV male would be nice… get on that ok vulpix!

    • Yeah I tend to, seems fun to add in the nature for a personality for my Pokemon. Usually I do this with a team I use in walkthroughs

    • I just follow their species temperament
      Like Garchomp is wild and ferocious often shrieking in psychotic joy as it blazes after opponents (And when he Mega Evolves he becomes merciless and sadistic)
      But Seismitoad is very…..grungy almost stoner like. He’s thick and extremely laid back, his blubbery body just swaying about absorbing blow after blow snickering to himself feeling no pain, but that thick brain lets him shrug off Special Attacks like nothing and when you have your back turn he’ll blast you with Scald or Drain Punch

  37. Whelp I think I’m giving up on the Battle of Alola. It’s clear that I’m out of my league. I’ve done better than I thought I did, but with as many losses as I have it’s clear to me that I stand no chance against most of the people competing. It’s a good learning experience tho and I certainly have some ideas for next time. I did no prep really for this competition and my real goal was to get the BPs anyway which I have done now. The whole ting is interesting at the very least. I’ll have to get my Pokemon up lvl 100 and Hyper train before the next one so I’m better prepared lol

      • Like 3:6. It’s not great hahaha A good amount of the battles were actually pretty close, but ultimately it came down to speed or just picking the wrong Pokemon from my team to go out. I’ve never really battled competitively before so this is all rather new to me. lol

          • Potentially, and maybe I will, but I also don’t think I’m totally ready yet for this. My team definitely needs fine tuning regardless and even if I keep going it’s likely I won’t fare well. I’m not trying to be pessimistic or anything. I just want to do the best I can hahaha

          • That’s what I hate about these battles. There’s so much guesswork, which doesn’t reward team building. Especially when almost all the Pokémon are UBs and Tapus…

          • Yeah that’s the thing the UBs and Tapus are in almost every team I face. Whether they use them or not is hit and miss, but the fact that people are using them everywhere is annoying. Lost my last battle against a Pheromosa…..

      • Yeah makes sense. I just joined for the most part to get the 50 BPs, but played a little more just to see how I would do. I am definitely not ready for competitive play tho. I can sometimes hold my own, but ultimately most other teams are so prepped for it that my Pokemon come up short. lol

    Why do you hate on a sub legends? For example, some people hate sub legends (the bst 570-600 legends). And i dont understand the hate. It’s not like their stats are super high. Pseudos have 600 unless you call pseudos op. Its kinda “pokemon racist” (lol) lumping them in catergory then hating on them.

Ugh……I was in an SOS chain of 65 for Stufful when something weird happened and the Stufful I was keeping alive killed itself and then the attack I had prepped killed the other one…..I really wish I had the Shiny charm again. It would make things so much easier (at least psychologically lol) If only the Bank was open for SuMo. Then I’d have the entire dex done and wouldn’t have to worry about filling it or not…..*sigh*….

      • I downloaded the rules a while back, but I could never find anything like a “sign up” so I assumed you only had to download it. Was that not it? :/

    • It’s difficult, but you have be signed into the pokemon website before you can sign up. That always confuses me. Then go to the pokemon global link website. Click on the competition you want to enter then it should give an option to sign up. (May be a little off because this is by memory). Also it’s too late to join BoA but this can help you for next time

    • They really should make an actual evolution for Carbink that actually looks like the connection between the two, could be called Spargirl (Sparkle + Girl).
      Following are my Pokemon evo/prevo ideas:

      – Drampa’s pre-evo is Bampa, a Normal type.
      – Komala 2nd eve known as Lazlog, a Normal-Grass type, with its log slowly engulfing Komala, with its 3rd eve known as Logala, a Normal-Grass.
      – Minior’s evolution, which would be Etoirock (Etoile + Rock), a Rock-Ghost with a rainbow colour.
      – Pyukumuku’s 2nd evolution would be ‘Spikumber’, a Water-Steel type. It would have super sharp points, a doubled body with light-gray colour and two large purple eyes.
      – Ribombee evolving into a a ribbon-filled bee known as Bumblove.
      – Druddigon getting a pre-evo form known as Ruffigon (Ruffian/Rough + Dragon), would be Dragon type.
      – Stunfisk evolving into Stifisk, a pure Ground type.
      – Corsola evolving into Anemommy, a Water-Electric type.
      – Lickitung getting a pre-evolutionary form, called Lichild (Lick Child), being a Normal type.
      – Carnivore getting a pre-evolutionary form, called Venuslap (Venus Fly Trap + Slap), being a Normal-Grass.
      – Kriketune evolving into Sonnetune, a Bug-Psychic type.
      – Solrock and Lunatone evolving into Eclipstone, a Rock-Dark type.
      – Seviper getting a pre-evolutionary form, called Hissnake. It’s a Ground-Poison.
      – Plusle and Minun both evolving into Equalitric, an Electric-Steel type.

  64. I had a weird idea for a Grass/Fire Azumarill. Essentially instead of the oil in its’ tail being for buoyancy it becomes like an oil lamp, burning natural plant oil it produces. It would have stumpier ears (still longer than Marills), a shorter, wider body and longer and larger tail. Its’ body would be Brown, with the lower part being covered in green moss like fur with slight flame-like patterns. It would have larger feet to help it balance. Its’ tail is twisted and rope like and there is a wick thread through the end of the ball which is usually lit. Just a slightly more out there idea perhaps.

    • Here are some:

      -Wondertrade. If you’re lucky, you tend to get Pokemon you never thought you’d get. I suggest breeding some breedjects to get the Pokemon you want. Don’t worry if you encounter an Abra or two, just release it if it happens.

      -Trade! Trade! Trade! Do it! Just ask for help if you need it. It worked for me XD.

      -Save your Legendaries. If you need an Ultra Beast or Legendary of the opposite game and you don’t have another copy or 3ds, use GTS. Deposit and ask for the opposite Pokemon in the game, e.g. Pheremosa and you should get Buzzwhole in return. It should work as someone will always be looking for the same type of Pokemon from a different game.

      -Catch every first stage Pokemon on each route and breed them. This is because of Pokemon like Chansey, Munchlax or Eevee. It’s much easier to have multiple of them to complete the dex.

      -S.O.S Chain. You get rare Pokemon like Happiny from Pichu or even evolutions such as Clefairy or Jigglypuff. It’s tedious, but I suggest doing it. If you have the time, do it for Pseudos like Salamance too. It’s helps a bunch. Though, keep in mind some Pokemon only appear during certain weather conditions.

      -Use Pelago! It helps get Extra Stone needed to evovle your Pokemon and even get’s you new Pokemon.

      -Seriously though, for UBs get lucky to acquire one on GTS then use that to trade for the others.
      -Get a Scizor, Electivire, Magmortar or Kingdra.
      -When you’ve got the UBs don’t be aftraid to trade downwards (I got a Porygon Z for a Guzzlord).
      -Level up on Poni
      -Use the cave thing on Pokepelago for nothing but evo stones
      -Bubbly fish spots
      -Don’t bother evolving baby pokemon, it’s easier to SOS chain them
      -You get some evo items from SOS chaining + thiefing

      And most importantly: Serebii

    • I also want the Dream World, not necessarily the games but the Dream Ball and item finding aspect could be good. More ways to get Power Items, Rare Candies, Apricorn Balls and Lucky Eggs. Maybe you could grow Apricorn Trees in the Dream World and have Dream version of Kurt craft them for you.

So before I was kind of annoyed that they got rid of the breeding person facing away when they didn’t have an egg and then turning around when they do, but I just realized something….the nursery lady may not turn around, but she crosses her arms almost like she actually has the egg when it’s there!! I didn’t even realize it until just now! That’s actually a cool touch on their part. lol

  80. So I was just thinking of another Fakemon idea, it’s similar to Dhelmise:
    Forvessel (Forsaken + Vessel)
    The Deserted Pokemon
    Type: Ghost – Water
    Ability: Water Pressure: Abilities are suppressed
    Hidden Ability: Strong Jaw
    Height: 26′ 07″
    Weight: 1316 lbs
    Dex Entry: A long time ago, a legendary pirate’s ship sank to the bottom of the ocean, along with the pirates drowning. Over hundreds of years, the ship began to become deformed under the pressure underwater. This ship became possessed by the spirits of the deceased pirates, and so now it roams the depths of the oceans, earning it the name: “The Phantom of the Sea”.
    It’s design would be based on an abandoned pirate ship, with it looking like a Goblin Shark overall. Large, Ghostly eyes appear within the ship’s front, with bended wood looking like fangs for it. Torn-apart sails take the for of fins for it.

  92. Alright. I eff-ed up. I wanted to breed for a Shiny Stufful, but I accidentally didn’t realize my Pokemon were from the same game XD so Masuda Method wasn’t working. I have a BUNCH of 5IV Stufful to give away. All Adamant Nature and rocking Ice Punch. I’d hate to give them up on Wondertrade, so before I do, I want to ask if anyone will trade me anything good for one.

    As a Gym Leader/Trial Captain, what would your gym/trial be like, your type specialty, and your team/the Totem Pokemon?

    • I’d but a person in a large 3D maze like Relativity by MC Escher and tell them to find their way out. There’s a special trick to getting out of the maze that only the challengers who succeed are made aware of and they’re made to promise to keep the answer a secret.

      My totem would probably Scizor or Flygon, but I’m undecided. For fun I’d make it summon Shedinja.

      You need to Surf through mine in a large lake like place but you must climb Waterfalls and go through Whirlpools to make it to the top of a mountain like area where I shall be

    • Gym — Dragon
      The gym is a giant castle guarded by a dragon. To climb to the top, you have to defeat the trainers. On top is me waiting to battle you. Only when you win, the dragon will let you leave unharmed.

      Hydreigon

      Trial — Dragon
      Again, a castle. This time to climb to the top, you have to choose between 3, 4 and 5 doors respectively on each floor. Choose the right door and there is no dragon. Choose the wrong one and you have to battle a Gabite, Hakamo-o and Fraxure respectively. After defeating the Fraxure, its mother will appear, being the Totem Pokémon. As its allies it calls the parents of the other harmed Pokémon.

  98. Mini annoyance in SM:
    The clothes customization. It sucks all the cool colors (my favorite colors) are only in moon when I have sun. I wish they made it so there is as much variety in XY, and you can dye anything any color not just white clothes.

      -The color thing like you mentioned
      -The lack of variety. Only tank tops really
      -No dresses or jackets. Like come on, even Lillie and Acerola have dresses
      – No mechanic to save outfits

    • I don’t think I’ve ever worn a Tank top in my life, closest I’ve come is a vest probably. I much preferred the clothes in XY, even if they didn’t completely represent my ‘style’ either. At least you can forego your hat this time.

  104. So something neat I learned yesterday. French restraunts are insanely expensive. Like, cafés and bakeries are fine, but full restraunts are really pricey. Which is why Café le Wow (it’s really a restraunt more than a café) costs so much

  105. Tbh I really want like a zoo simulator game but with Pokémon

    And like less like a zoo and more like a nature reserve (but nature reserve simulator doesn’t really the right ring to it)

    Like basically you could purchase, exchange and rescue Pokémon in order to try and breed them and preserve their population, and you’d have to sculpt your nature reserve to accommodate your Pokémon with biomes such as

    Forest
    Jungle
    Subterranean
    Mountain
    Peak
    Beach
    Sea
    Lake
    River
    Tundra
    Etc

    And there’d be different paths you could take like trying to have smaller qualities of all non legends/non UBs, or monotyping your reserve (like a Poison paradise) or even only having Pokémon of a certain wide group (bird Pokémon only, land mammalian Pokémon only, aquatic Pokémon only, etc)

    Legends, UBs and Type: Null would be available as non-canonical events and would unlock specific terrain for your safari and play as if they’re there but will be ignored for story purposes

  108. So apparently, all Ultra Beasts (including the Cosmog line) and Necrozma have a prime numbers theme

    Their individual base stats (not including the total) are all prime numbers

    Their evolution levels (Cosmog line) are all prime numbers

    If it isn’t learned at Level 1 or Level ‘0’ (Evolution Moves), then they only learn moves on prime numbers (and then knowing moves at level 1 is a necessity). And even with the evolution moves, they’re supposed to get them on prime number levels

    Lusamine’s actions have resulted in numerous infantile Ultra Beasts escaping into the wild, unmonitored due to not being as destructive as they could be yet, and have entered the public eye. However, evolving in Alola has made them adapt to the environment, and creates more stable Alola Forms of Ultra Beasts that don’t have Beast Boost and have more balanced stats

    We’d get prevos for the UB-02s and UB-04s, and a handful of new Ultra Beast evolution lines.

    In the post-game, you’d find Nihilego, Xurkitree and Guzzlord without Beast Boost, but the species appear physically and statistically unchanged due to not having evolution to adapt as quick. If they were to change, they’d need a much longer period of time.

    All Ultra Beasts transferred from SuMo will remain the same

    • I actually think this is a good idea. It stabilizes them as “Pokemon” more going forward into the series and allows them to eventually have a reason for being able to be found in the wild of other regions without having to resort to the wormholes opening up EVERY time they want to allow us to capture them. As of right now they’re considered outsiders. They need to find a way to make them be Pokemon-esque

      Pheromosa’s prevo would be the opposite of real Cockroach estate despite looking much like them: adorable, clean, and helpful. They ‘infest’ clean areas and keep them clean. Only females evolve.

      Buzzwole’s evo would be much more like actual mosquitos in appearance and attitude: pests. But they only feast on the blood of the strong, and this stubbornness makes them rare. Either only females evolve to reflect IRL mosquitos or males to counterpart Pheromosa.

      Celesteela’s prevo would be a cross of a seed and a flying saucer, just as Celesteela is a bamboo airship

      Kartana’s evo would either be unfolded paper (lel) or an origami kunai

  164. Palossand is something I’m really looking for to in Competitive play. It has a good amount of bulk to help itself, as it has 110 Defense plus Amnesia to help support its Sp Def. Ontop of that, it’s supposed to take Water Type attacks, and with a Weakness Policy it can be a bulky Sp Attacker.

        • Honestly if you can get a good team in the super bracket, it becomes great for grinding. Faffing around in super doubles I learned something like 300 bp trying to get to the fiftieth match, and lost at 48.

          • E-terrain team. Tapu Koko, A-Raichu, Pelliper, and Electivre. Lead with Koko and Raichu for the most speed, Pelliper can set up rain to limit fire damage, give Thunder good acc, and set up tailwind for more speed, and electivre is a good switch in if you go volt switch on Koko or Raichu, then have the other target it with an electric type move that turn to give it +1 speed, making it outspeed most things in the game.

            In the end I lost mostly because I got drunk ,set my game down for about an hour, and forgot that my opponent set up a a turn one trick room and simply wasn’t able to recover. I might have been able to salvage it if not for one bad play. However the teams really strong despite the weakness to earthquake. Koko seemingly can live earthquakes in doubles pretty consistently, and most things that try to run it aren’t ground type.

          • Hmm, that’s a solid strategy. I’m sorta just using UBs and stuff, because I don’t have a real team just yet.
