Pokémon Sun & Moon Can Now be Preloaded

Fans now can now preload Pokémon Sun & Moon to their Nintendo 3DS through the eShop if they have bought the games in North America, Japan or Australia; meaning that they are available to download in full ahead of their November 18th launch.

UPDATE: Now available to preload for Europeans as well, with their release being on the 23rd. Bonus of 12 Quick Balls for downloading.

If you have a slow internet connection, but wanted to buy the games digitally, this gives you ample time to prepare so that you can enjoy the games as soon as they’re released.

Hopefully this will not be hacked in any way; I’d rather not be seeing spoilers weeks ahead of the games’ actual launch.

    • It’s not impossible for people to break street dates

But no, predownloads just allow people who may not have time on the day of release to download it all there and then, and we still have no info on a European predownload.

    • Europeans getting it later is punishment for stores in Europe breaking release of X/Y days ahead of the official release.

        • Sorry, don’t you want Pokemon games to come to Europe at all? The Pokemon company are very passionate about releasing the games on the same date worldwide, so everyone experiences it at the same time (+-24 hours). A store breaking release date is a great big slap in the face to them, when they try so hard to make it fair for everyone. No it’s not your fault that they broke release, but you need to understand why The Pokemon Company sees it as such a big deal and why there are punishments because of it.

    • Now. You’ll be downloading the game in full right then, you’ll just need the encryption key which will release as an update at midnight on the 18th that makes it playable (or, midnight in the nearest time zone people care about which, for example, means 1:30 AM for me as they always use EST and I’m 1.5 hours ahead of EST).

  1. I’m expecting my physical copy of Sun from Shop To (who are known to dispatch up to 5 days early) so hopefully I’ll be booting up my Alola Adventure before the 23rd 🙂

  2. I’ve started my Moon download. I’m curious as to how long it will take. I’ll probably have to leave for school before it’s “finished”.

  3. I ordered my copies from Amazon I hope to have them on 11/18 if not a tiny bit sooner since they sometimes ships stuff a day or so in advance. I hope the preloaded edition of the games don’t get datamined, but I am guessing they will.

    • Hi richie,

Yeah, it is safe: I myself am using a 32GB microSD with adaptor in my 3dsxl, and the only concern you should have is that the SD technology the old 3ds supports is SDHC. Nevertheless, basically all memory cards being sold today up to 32GB are SDHC, so buying a 16GB one shouldn’t give you any troubles =)

      Hope I could help.
