The final evolutions of Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio have been revealed in a product image for upcoming Pokémon Sun & Moon TCG decks. This matches the sprites pulled from within the Pokémon Sun & Moon demo earlier this month. Their Japanese names are Junaipā (Rowlet 3), Gaogaen (Litten 3) and Ashirēnu (Popplio 3).

I think Litten and Popplio look good and that Rowlet is the worst. Robin Hood Potter Archer Owl is definitely the one that will prove to be the most boring starter ever, ImHO it lacks personality and character

Tiger walking on four legs is not badass it’s boring IMHO you want to make Pokemon turn into animals?? No no no they should look like pokemon not animals all the time. It can be based on animals for the desgons not to be very strangevto the human eye. But if it was an animal then it would be boring. Look at Gengar, Onix, Nidoking and Flygon those look good because they don’t look very animal or the Pokemon world would be boring.

One of the reasons I like Pokémon is because they mostly look like animals. Too many humanoid features added to an animal-based design doesn’t look good to me.

I’m glad I saw the leaks earlier in the year, because I’ve had time to get used to these evolutions. If I was just seeing them for the first time today I think I’d be pretty disappointed, but they’ve grown on me now 🙂
I gotta say it makes me sad that we seem to be becoming one of those game fandoms that chastises people for having critical opinions. I saw many people on Facebook saying that they didn’t like these designs, and they were immediately dogpiled by others telling them to ‘shut the f up’ or ‘stop whining’ or even saying ‘it’s just a game’. People are allowed to dislike a certain thing about Pokemon while still liking the franchise as a whole; it doesn’t make you any less of a fan. I truly believe that sometimes if you accept something’s faults you can learn to love it even more. I’m sad to see fans being spoken to so rudely just because they hoped Litten would stay bipedal. That’s crazy. Our fandom is better than that.

I think part of the problem is that when people won’t simply judge the pokemon but the game as a whole. For some reason a lot of people judge pokemon games solely on the pokemon and wont look at any other factors such as plot, music, game mechanics etc. Thats why there were a lot of people that didn’t play black and white, they saw the leaked dex and just put off the game as bad (jokes on them those games were great). And some people may try to pull that with future games to come so people try to shut the negativity down as soon as possible. I know you said that you got used to these designs and that they’ve grown on you but not everyone is willing to let it grow on them so they’ll just start saying that SM are bad games without ever actually playing it
That’s fair enough, but I’m seeing more ‘wow those are disappointing I really don’t like the wrestler’ than ‘OMG THESE GAMES HAVE SUCKED SINCE GEN 1 GIVE ME BACK CHARIZARD’. So to see people getting told to ‘shut the f up’…it’s really unpleasant, y’know? I love how inclusive and friendly this fandom is, and we span ages from children right up to adults. And we’ve always been able to talk freely about what GF is doing wrong as well as what they’re doing right, and voice our concerns as well as hopes for the series, so this recent trend of ‘if you say anything remotely critical you’re just whining and ruining it for others and deserve abuse’ is really sad. I mean, just look at the moronic response I received below. Just look at it. That is exactly what I’m talking about in a freakin’ nutshell.
I see. Another thing i think is causing a problem is that sometimes some people may think they’re judging critically but in reality they are being super nit picky. Not saying in the case here but with products in general. This only shows how truly subjective products can be as everyone thinks differently. But lets not go off on some off topic tangent. Tbh I’m kinda worried for Popplio3 and it’s chances of being pure water. At least if Litten3 was pure typed it’d be unique as only 5/6 past Fire starters are pure Fire, whereas 3/6 past Water starters have been pure. And whilst I really want Water/Fairy, I’d even accept Ice or Psychic if it means we’re not getting the fourth Pure Water starter.
And tbh it kinda needs Fairy, besides legends, pretty much every Fairy this Gen looks like it’s going to be weak (Ribombee looks like Ledian2, Mimikyu and Comfey are standalones) besides Morelull2 which looks like it’s not going to be that well stat wise.

I’m very happy with them all, less so with Popplio3, but that’s just personal preference; I can appreciate its design.
