[NEW] Pokémon Sun & Moon Demo Leaks New Pokémon & More

The article below contains spoilers for Pokémon Sun & Moon.

We have chosen not to publish any images obtained from the demo version and as such the information below is a text rundown of what has been uncovered. The comment section of this article will also contain spoilers.

The demo version of Pokémon Sun & Moon is currently live in some regions and some avid trainers have gotten to work uncovering everything the demo has to offer.

It seems that lessons haven’t been learned from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and the demo files contain information on some currently unannounced Pokémon and over information. It’s unknown if the demo contains files for all new Pokémon in the games, though at this point it seems almost definite.

Leaked Information

Alolan Forms

The demo contains files confirming the existence of many more Alolan Pokémon:

  • Geodude, Graveler and Golem
  • Diglett and Dugtrio
  • Persian

New Pokémon & Ultra Beasts

  • There are at least five new Ultra Beasts, bringing the total to 8
  • The leaked Starter Pokémon evolutions are real
  • Pikipek appears to evolve into a toucan Pokémon in it’s final stage
  • Crabrawler, Wimpod, Morelull and Salandit all receive evolutions
  • Solgaleo and Lunala both have a pre evolution/lesser form
  • A new Pokémon that appears to be based on an anchor
  • A new Pokémon and it’s evolution that were previously leaked by an Amazon listing for the upcoming Sun & Moon TCG expansion
  • Another two Pokémon evolution line that appears to be part Bug type
  • Marshadow is a real Pokémon, but doesn’t look anything like Solgaleo or Lunala
  • Magearna has a form that looks more like a traditional Poké Ball
  • Ash Pikachu is in the game and appears to be able to wear Ash’s hat from each region of the anime
  • [NEW] The Pokémon models found within the demo are only from Pokémon found in the Alola Pokédex

[NEW] Pokémon Moves

  • It seems there are a total of 719 moves in the games, by comparison Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire had 621
  • 3 of these new moves appear to be taught via TM
  • 29 of the new moves are Z-Moves (18 Z-Moves for each type and 11 special Z-Moves)
  • HMs no longer exist and are not available as a regular TM

[NEW] Items

  • There are 920 items present in the demo, 58 of which are related to Z-Moves
  • A new medicinal item similar to Lava Cookie that cures all
  • A new battle item with held effect (like Dire Hit)
  • At least 6 new holdable items with effects
  • A Key Item that is likely used to change Zygarde forms
  • 3 items that are used to change forms
  • Bikes and Travel Trunks (an unused key item) are not in the demo/games
  • The Strange Souvenir item data appears unchanged in the games
  • 1 new type of Poké Ball
    • It appears the new ball cannot be bought or sold

We will update with further details if and when they come.

REMEMBER: This information is currently unannounced and has been leaked from the demo. Please respect the wishes of others and mark your spoilers correctly.

      • I was thinking that this would be a good opportunity for them to make legendary Pokemon with three types at once. UB02 Expansion could be Bug/Fighting/Dark for example.

    • URGHHHH whyyyy… Why couldn’t they just let them be uncatchable story bosses so we wouldn’t have to see them again. They clash so badly with the pokémon aesthetic it hurts. IMO they’re just a waste of development time and code in the first place.
Oh well, at least some people are happy about it…

      • Yeah I have to agree they are quite different from what we typically get. I would have thought they’d be uncatchable too. I always got the feeling that unlike Pokemon (animals essentially) They were of higher intellect and more on the level of humans in a way. Which is why I wouldn’t have thought them catchable.

        • Alakazam has an IQ of 200… (Damn, kind of feels like slavery now I think about it)

I agree that they don’t really seem like catchable pokemon.

          • Well……ok yeah Alakazam is a bit different, but you get what I mean. Avoiding the whole enslaving of animals thing is wrong part you’d think that the UB’s weren’t on the same level as Pokemon and thus wouln’t be able to be caught lol

          • I’d say the reasoning is more that they’re from a different dimension and they look completely different, but yeah, they don’t look ‘catchable’.

(I liked Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, you didn’t catch monsters, you sort of overpowered their will and they agreed to join you. Just for the sake of mentioning it :P)

  1. My buddy at GameStop gave me some extra Volcanion code cards. I have 4 of them if anyone needs one 🙂 I’ll be home in about an hour

  2. Lol expect a big incoming reaction paragraph, I’ve a lot to say about all this and how the pitiful number of unrevealed mons made me decide to just give in to spoilers just like for X and Y.

Out of curiosity, what are people considering worthy of a spoiler tag here?

Also about that weird bug line that was one of the only completely new things, people are saying it’s a water spider, and that definitely seems to be an element… BUT when I saw them, the first thing I thought was “OMG VIRUS POKÉMON Virus pokémon!” . I’m pretty sure I’m right bout this, it’s especially true of the prevo that looks an awful lot like a bacteriophage, and their general alien look is better explained. Thoughts? Has anyone else said this?

    • I’m leaning towards water spider tbh
      Doesn’t look virusy enough.
Also I don’t really thing it warrants spoiler tags, this place has pretty much become a spoiler free-for-all.

      • Eh, I’m gonna stick to my virus interpretation, I’m pretty convinced.
I guess the jury is out, we’ll see how the consensus settles when it all goes mainstream.

  3. About the UB…

Maybe they are not catchable at all in the story mode fights they feature in (like say, happens when Ghetsis’ staff repels your Pokeballs), but if you’re a hacker and spawn them in a wild battle they will be.

Oh, and before you say uhhh then only hackers will have UB’s, well only hackers will get UFO’s and Eternal Floettes anyway…

  4. Question to all who are around: If I change my avatar to a new Pokemonfrom the data mine….would everyone be ok with that or would that be a faux pas? I won’t show off a new Pokemon if anyone still wants to stay away from them lol

  5. Alright, after too many struggles for a single tweet, I now await a response from one of the GameXplain-ers. Hopefully it isn’t just disregarded for the amount of effort it took lol.

      • Basically they claimed there saw more than 1 new Pokemon during their 2-hour playthrough of the game, but the dumps don’t seem to show and early stage Pokemon. Aside from the fact that there are supposedly 9 left, the possibility we haven’t seen everything is high, and we’re gonna try to confirm that.
