The article below contains spoilers for Pokémon Sun & Moon.
We have chosen not to publish any images obtained from the demo version and as such the information below is a text rundown of what has been uncovered. The comment section of this article will also contain spoilers.
The demo version of Pokémon Sun & Moon is currently live in some regions and some avid trainers have gotten to work uncovering everything the demo has to offer.
It seems that lessons haven’t been learned from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and the demo files contain information on some currently unannounced Pokémon and over information. It’s unknown if the demo contains files for all new Pokémon in the games, though at this point it seems almost definite.
Leaked Information
Alolan Forms
The demo contains files confirming the existence of many more Alolan Pokémon:
- Geodude, Graveler and Golem
- Diglett and Dugtrio
- Persian
New Pokémon & Ultra Beasts
- There are at least five new Ultra Beasts, bringing the total to 8
- The leaked Starter Pokémon evolutions are real
- Pikipek appears to evolve into a toucan Pokémon in it’s final stage
- Crabrawler, Wimpod, Morelull and Salandit all receive evolutions
- Solgaleo and Lunala both have a pre evolution/lesser form
- A new Pokémon that appears to be based on an anchor
- A new Pokémon and it’s evolution that were previously leaked by an Amazon listing for the upcoming Sun & Moon TCG expansion
- Another two Pokémon evolution line that appears to be part Bug type
- Marshadow is a real Pokémon, but doesn’t look anything like Solgaleo or Lunala
- Magearna has a form that looks more like a traditional Poké Ball
- Ash Pikachu is in the game and appears to be able to wear Ash’s hat from each region of the anime
- [NEW] The Pokémon models found within the demo are only from Pokémon found in the Alola Pokédex
[NEW] Pokémon Moves
- It seems there are a total of 719 moves in the games, by comparison Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire had 621
- 3 of these new moves appear to be taught via TM
- 29 of the new moves are Z-Moves (18 Z-Moves for each type and 11 special Z-Moves)
- HMs no longer exist and are not available as a regular TM
[NEW] Items
- There are 920 items present in the demo, 58 of which are related to Z-Moves
- A new medicinal item similar to Lava Cookie that cures all
- A new battle item with held effect (like Dire Hit)
- At least 6 new holdable items with effects
- A Key Item that is likely used to change Zygarde forms
- 3 items that are used to change forms
- Bikes and Travel Trunks (an unused key item) are not in the demo/games
- The Strange Souvenir item data appears unchanged in the games
- 1 new type of Poké Ball
- It appears the new ball cannot be bought or sold

First we denied gen 5th starters evolutions, but they were real.
Then we denied the existence of fairy type, but it happened to be true.
Then we denied 6th gen starters, but they were real.
Then we denied that gen 6 has only 70 pokemon, but those were the only ones.
Then we denied that all mega evolutions were revealed by GF before OraS release, but there were no new ones.
Then we hoped for third game with gen 6.5, cause Kalos was incomplete, but it never
happened.
Then we denied Gen 7 starters, but they happened to be true.
Now we are denying that gen 7th has only 70 new pokemon.

WeI’m not denying that the leaked stuff is real, I’m denying how everyone thinks this is complete.The hackers found out Jangmo-o dex number and if you put them together with jangmo-o being the pesudo, they all fit perfectly. Trust me, I’ve been playng pokemon since 1998, I really would like a bigger dex but I’ve learned what to expect and what to simply accept as evidence

The thing is that there’s no rational here, you know. You have to accept the idea that we pretend other pokemon just because we think some need an evolution, while at GF they do what they want. So hey, how are you sure there are other pokemon apart from feeling there are? Cause evidence in this moment points in an onther way

Yeah, they did a good job on everything else. My brother thinks it was intentional that these things got leaked, that’d be cool if it was the case.

I’m just so excited for this game. The amount of hype and potential is just incredible. I just started playing the demo after downloading it at work and it’s just everything. To me it feels like playing the original Ruby and Sapphire all over again when I was younger.
Reminds me more of Sinnoh than hoenn :/ tropical, but Pokemon designs feel Sinnohy
And the fact we have separate day/night themes :p
Oh I agree on that aesthetically it’s more similar to sinnoh but it just matches the level of excitement I had when Hoenn came out.

The fact that there seem to be less than 100 Pokemon this generation, along with the fact that Gen 7 seems connected to Gen 6 in many ways, makes me think that next generation will be another series reboot. Just like how Gen 5 had about the same number of Pokemon as Gen 1 and only featured those new Pokemon for the main story. I’d consider both Gen 6 and Gen 7 to be one big “3DS Generation”, with Gen 8 on NX (maybe) starting with a clean slate.

Well, someone brought up the fact that Marshadow is number 853 or 835 in the Dex, leaving over 100 spaces for only 70ish revealed Pokemon. Could there be more?
There’s no real evidence behind that. However, I definitely feel like there is more we’re missing.
I had the idea that maybe everything that was dumped is set to be featured in the upcoming news dump(s), but they wouldn’t reveal shinies and so many of the Legends at once. Besides, that’d only leave a quarter of the Pokemon left to discover for ourselves in the final games.
With any luck. But honestly there’s so much loose evidence at this point that I seriously think there’s more.
Hopefully. There’s been a lot of tradition breaking, but no fossil Pokemon and so many standalones leave me wondering.

I know. and think about it. We didn’t REALLY find out that much. Several evolutions and tapu guardians. We already knew about marshadow (not sprite but that it existed) and started evolutions, and slandits evolution.
If we didn’t really find out that much it makes me really suspicious.

To be honest I’m hoping that the beginning of Gen 8 is a completely blank slate with features retained (moves, the eighteen types, the eighteen default Z-Moves, etc) but Pokémon from past Gens return in either a third version/sequel and or remakes.

Psychic Terrain: which negates priority moves for Pokemon on the ground and boosts Psychic-type attacks
Throat Chop: sound-based moves negated for two turns
Aurora Veil: halves the power of physical and special moves for 5 turns
Laser Focus: 100% of critical hit on the next turn after the move’s use

All I need from Sun and Moon is a robust Safari Zone with hundreds of Pokemon from all generations. I’d spend many hours there.
Someone brought up the fact that there are about 20 Pokemon that cannot be seen in Diamond and Pearl until you get the National Pokedex. This could very well be the case here! Maybe?

If that’s an explanation as to why the demo might be missing pokemon, it’s less convincing than the ‘demo only coveres a few islands’ theory.

Is it just me or do these trails seem incredibly tedious.
I’m seriously hoping the actual games are much better.
I’m basing this on what I’ve seen and read as I haven’t actually played the demo yet, probably not going to to be honest.
Trials feel very natural, which goes with alolas theme. The issue is they a feel a bit like side quests, in my opinion.
From the videos I’ve seen and from reading what people are posting on here, it just seems really tedious and basically spoonfed to you. I mean the photographing one literally tell you where to look.
This is a demo though. If people play the demo and can’t beat it, they won’t want to buy the game.
Why not? The demo is supposed to give us an idea of what to expect in the game. I’d be more put of if I didn’t think it was challenging enough.
I’m hoping that the photographing trials make some Pokemon hard to find. Also throw in other random Pokemon to throw you off. Make it so you have to lure some Pokemon to the right spot. Or even make it so you have to position yourself properly, or have the Pokemon run off if you take too long.
I’m going to miss the gyms puzzles. Candice’s ice one is still my favourite 😀
I would like some trials to be puzzle based so you have to solve something in order to proceed. They can still put ice sliding puzzles in to navigate the snowy area.
I just hope we can battle trial captains, whether that be a post game thing or what.

I was thinking of a Steel/Flying or Fighting/Steel with bandage-like appendages hanging loosely from its vicious feet able to kick and pummel opponents. Basically think of Crane from Kung-Fu Panda but more badass.
Crane from Kung Fu Panda is a rare kind of Japanese Crane.
I know. I was just taking inspiration from cranes. Plus, woodpeckers are very territorial and aggressive towards other males who enter their territory and will fight just as aggressively. 😀

I know that woodpeckers are within the toucan family. It just looks nothing like pikipek. they could have at least made it look smoother….
I think it has a nice sleek/neat design.
Its second stage is a bit awkward but the transition does make sense when comparing all 3 forms and not just the first and last.
Besides, most regional birds are bland, at least the toucan is nice and colourful.
I love toucans, so not at all.
It could have been a separate Pokemon. Pikipeks design had more potential. And it’s yet another normal flying type regional bird. They could have ad t steel or grass or something…
