Chinese Riddler Claims New Z-Ring Secrets to be Revealed SOON

The mysterious Chinese leaker is at it again, teasing fans with new information that will be revealed soon about the upcoming games Pokémon Sun & Moon. Known for showing various “riddles” which showed hints at Solgaleo, Mimikyu and others, the user has built a reputation for being reliable, but ambiguous, source of information.

This time, they have posted about the Z-Ring which is crucial for pulling off powerful Z-Moves in the new game. It seems that there is something that we have not yet learned about the devices and the leaker says it may relate to a certain kanji (Chinese symbol). They have also stated that the information will come to light VERY SOON.

Cresselia, the Smogon user we’ve been working with since the first set of Chinese rumors, breaks it down in her video above, but the symbol in question could be 全 (zen) which means “all” or “entire”. You can see that the shape made by the Z-Ring does resemble the kanji and in Japanese the phrase “zenryoku waza” has been used to describe Z-Moves and probably is even the reason why they are called “Z”-Moves in the first place.

The above character discussion is not something new, but could be related tangentially to what the leaker is hinting at. Hopefully they’re right about the soon part and we’ll get to see some new information about the games before next Tuesday when the next scheduled Sun & Moon trailer/site update will go live.

  4. Well, I guess that he teases for new information today… but at same time he maybe refer to October 4th ne bunch of information, when I really dislike – but I think – that could be an “Z Form” to certain Pokémon like the starters and Rockruff.

    • Plot twist: There are no starter evolutions. Litten, Popplio and Rowlet’s stats increase gradually with each 10 levels to ensure they end up just as strong as regular starter evolutions.

    • Starter evos are always a corocoro thing, so I’d expect them to be revealed there first. We’ll probably see them in a trailer mid-october.

    • Usually we don’t see the starter evolutions until after the game releases, we might not be use to that because Pokemon hasn’t done many worldwide launches. If you recall, leakers had to reveal the starter evos in X&Y because we did not see them until after launch. In other words, we might not even see the evos until November.

  15. I’m glad you made the distinction between what was said as far as when he meant the info was coming. Some people translated the sentence as if he meant the info was coming today and some translated it as if he just meant soon like the article says. It’s the kind of thing that could get annoying as even though the Riddler is incredibly reliable at this point if someone translates or interprets what he’s saying wrong then it could turn into a very annoying he’s Real!/he’s Fake argument. ANYWAY I do think that the Z forms we’ve all been expecting could coming very soon, whether it be on the 4th or sooner. As far as it happening sooner, the only time I think we could possibly get something interesting is during the interviews that Masuda and Ohmori are doing in London. Does anyone know anything about those? They haven’t happened yet have they?

  20. I still like fennekin line more than frokie but the anime has made new like greninja more than I did when I first saw it, so I wouldn’t mind using a ash greninja for competitive or even on my main team (if I decide not pick poplio again)

  22. Could the pokemon grayed out in his Alolan Pokedex leak be pokemon getting Z forms ?kind of breaks it because the Gen 6 starters aren’t on there but still. I hope its true because the Johto starters are grayed out and they need some love imo

      • yea but if thats the case that list would be much larger. theres far more pokemon than that that haven’t appeared. Theres a reason those grayed out ones are there. then again that could be him knowing the Dex and letting us know those are all available in game but some haven’t been shown yet. but why Johto starters? i just hope the Johto starters get some love

        • That’s kind of what I was trying to imply.
          They’re supposed to be his/her list of “these pokemon are returning but you haven’t seen them in a trailer yet” pokemon.
