I feel like GF is trying too hard to make gimmicks for the starters recently rather than just making them cool bigger creatures.
If they are real, I’d actually pick Litten for his final IF IT’S NOT FIGHTING. If it’s part dark that’s totally ok with me. I picked Rowlet as soon as I saw him but his evo just isn’t sitting right with me

As much as it pains me to say it, I think you’re right. who knows though, one of the evos might grow on me like both greninja and chesnaught did. I hated them both when they came out but now they’re some of my favorite final evos

I feel like even if GF types it Fire/Dark it’s just denial. They could’ve made a cool fire dark type without it being that thing.
I’m actually quite happy they did the whole heel wrestler thing to explain a dark type. What’s even cooler is the fuse tail that has “blown up”. This also explains why Litten3 goes this ham, it’s emotions were tied to the tail fuse. It’s simply better explained and thought out than “just gets bigger & adds a unfitting type for no reason at all” in my opinion. And we already have enough generic looking fire cats like Flareon and Pyroar, Litten’s final evolution is just a bit of fresh air.

With that out of the way, I’ve heard a few people(including me) who would like to stay away from leaks in the time leading up to the game’s release, so I’d like to suggest making a “Spoiler-Free Discussion” article so people don’t have to leave PJ. The article would solely be for discussion of officially revealed stuff. I don’t know, but I thought in the interest of people not leaving for a while that this might be a good idea.
I agree. As much as I want to stay away from spoilers though, my christmas present hunting as a kid trained me to spoil myself before the big day. We’ll see how long I last ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I guess I expected as much (How would the forums be better though?). I mean, you can’t really mark all spoilers in the comments, which is honestly what I’m interested in here. I guess I’ll just stick to my original plan, it was worth a shot.

While it seems like an good idea, I personally wouldn’t have that much faith in strangers on the internet. People are actually so petty, that they will spam that comments section with spoilers.
I understand wanting to stay away from spoilers, but I also think it’s an unrealistic expectation.
I remember that happening all over the place (not here) with the latest Star Wars movie, so I agree this is definitely a high probability.
When SM is out I’ll probably abandon PJ anyway unless I’m desparate to find people to trade with.

Will there be new Fossil pokemon? If so, what?
I hope so. I’d like a Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus (Torterra technically is one though),Ichthyosaurus or Basilosaurus, Megatherium, Andrewsarchus or Smilodon (Sabretooth). I think dropping the Rock Type for a change would be good, perhaps Aether perfect the revival process or use some form of DNA extraction somehow.

Z Moves maybe? I feel like Zygarde was just kind delayed until SM because of time constraints.
I don’t think Z was ever in the plans. Masuda said as much in an interview, and considering the plethora of hints in XY that we’d be going to a new region next time, Sun and Moon have always been the intent.
That’s not what I’m saying; what I’m saying is that Zygarde’s story (with the cell collecting and such) was likely planned for XY. Otherwise why would it be in Alola?
Because Alola connects to Kalos 😉 I’m sorry I’m so high on this LOL, I can’t wrap my head around Zygarde being part of Sun and Moon’s plot. The Pokedex literally states Zygarde protects the Kalos ecosystem, we have to go back dammit.
Nope alola is made up of islands, the definition of which is a landmass surrounded by water on all sides, so there wouldnt be a possible way for kalos to connect with it other than a 24hour flight or months on a boat based on real geography also making kalos in the sun and moon engine would be a waste as there would be no point in going back there
Underwater trains exist in real life. And even if not a train, Kalos has Coumarine City as well. The backpacker got to Kalos, Dexio and Sina got to Alola, there’s an established travel method and many connections between the two regions despite being so different. There was no point in going back to Kanto either in GS, yet it’s one of the most fan loved things.

At this point the pokemon world pretty much mirrors the real world, if kanto and johto and hoenn and sinnoh for that matte follow the same geography as real life why would the rest of the regions not follow them?

If they followed real life geography, it would take more than a few hours to traverse the entire region by foot (or bike). While yes they do take inspiration from the real world, distances are definitely not to scale.
And anyway what difference would it make in game. You’ll basically be automatically transported there anyway whichever method of transport they opt for.
Personally I don’t think it will happen, but I dont think distance is good argument against it. Just my opinion.
Hoenn and Kalos are close to each other since an NPC swimmer in Kalos said he swam from the Hoenn region. Yet Japan isn’t close to France. IRL location =/= Pokemon world location.
Also in the anime, Alain, Mairin and Steven make the trip from Hoenn to Kalos like it’s nothing.

Kanto and Johto being next to each other doesn’t detract from my argument. There’s a lot of inspiration from the real world in the regions. But I’ve already supported why inspiration doesn’t = geographical placement.

By the design of the leaks, this is probably going to be the very first generation where the massive majority of players will choose the grass starter. The archer will basically reach a charizard-like status, and though that’s cool, i admit i’d never thought a grass starter would pull this off.

I like Akala for these reasons:
– It seems like the most resort-like island
– The basins in the northwest looks beautiful
– The volcano
– This might sound wierd but it just looks relaxing to be in

The Snowy Mountain one is my favourite.
I can definitely see some Snorunt and Bergmite being found in the wild. Some caves to explore in the side of the mountain with vast amounts of Zubat and Rock/Ground/Fighting types.
I have a feeling one of the Totems will be Alolan Ninetales.

I feel like I’d like the icy mountain more if we had to climb up rather than take the lift. Hopefully the lift is just for use after you climb.
Maybe you have the option to climb it, or use the lift if you wish.
The first pass round may have you climb it as the lift is ‘broken’ and it gets fixed post-game

It was timid and easily started but had an extremely powerful Rock Slide attack but it wasn’t fully mastered so it caused a water vein to break and carry us down

Well I used Lum Berry/Multiscale Dragonite, Choice Band/Huge Power Azumarill, and Mega Kanga for Super Singles. So I just added my Choice Band/Therian Thundurus from my Super Doubles team and beat Rotation in two tries.
Thanks! I get screwed over with the prediction aspect of it, it’s incredibly annoying. I’ve been using Lum Multiscale Dragonite, Gengar, Vaporeon w/ Wish, and Mega Metagross.
Yea the prediction can be dumb. The way I did it: spammed Outrage for strong 1x STAB damage, rotate to Azumarill when dealing with dragons or fairies, and almost always saving Thundurus for when he is the only logical choice to rotate to, and then Kanga for sweeping up and come backs as my switch in.

Only Steven is good. Try and get it to where he uses Aerodactyl first. Having Mega Metagross waiting to clean up is a thing of beauty. I used Greninja with Mat Block and pretty much just assisted Steven while he took care of all the hard work.

I have some questions which are specifically about the map of Alola, if anyone could answer them, that would be great! Here it is: is the snowy mountain actually connected to the observatory or are they two different mountains? Also, is that a golf course in the east of Akala island or something I don’t know of? And finally, where do you guys think the Team Skull base will be? (or has it been revealed already? The walled of city, perhaps?)
If the Snowy Mountain is based on Haleakala, then yeah, it’s connected to the observatory.
Are haleakala and mauna kea the same?
No. Mauna Kea is the largest volcano and is located on Hawa’ii Island. Haleakala is on Maui.
I wonder if the Anime will be like Spongebob. Think about it. All the episodes from Season 1 to the Spongebob Squarepants movie were great and the Spongebob Squarepants Movie had a great ending where Sponge became the Manager and that was the planned ending of the show. What if Ash becomes something great and the show “ends”, but then Alola Anime will be bad like modern Spongebob and they’ll keep dragging it along as it gets worse and worse like Spongebob season 10.

really? is that just a theory they’re hoping to be true or do they have some proof/signs of this? either way ide be glad to have more trial captains to meet, i dont think the ones we have are enough though we do have the kahuna’s and one of those is Hala as far as we know. i think if we only have the remaining trial captains we know of they would give us a ton of trials just to let us forget that their is only 4 and probably 4 kahuna’s including hala…idk hm if their is evidence or some signs of more than ide be happy but im still salty on that assumption they are making…

Oh! I had an idea just now!
Magikarp: Fire/Water. It tried jumping over volcanoes but fell into the lava. It’s durable scales kept it alive and it evolved to be able to see in the lava and fish out prey. Learns Splash, Tackle, Flail and Sunny Day.
Gyarados: Fire/Rock. It can summon lava and lava rocks on command. It is said to live deep within volcanoes in places where even the Team Magma suit will melt.

Hordes are arguably better for EV training than Super Training, I feel it is a very valuable thing to keep in the games now. Also I wouldn’t mind shaking spots or DexNav sneaking returning.

It just bothers me that it isn’t a climate adaptation. But honestly how would they do a psychic climate adaptation?

My theory was that Pikachu weren’t native to Alola but they were extremely popular so they tried to selectively breed Pikachu with native Pokemon to meet demand thus resulting in irregular brain development though highly unnoticed in the resulting Pikachus but exposure of Thunder Stone radiation triggering evolution caused a massive increase of electricity in the brain causing the psychic typing

They’ve probably abandonned secret bases, which would make me sad.
At least we’ll get them back in D/P remakes :/
The bases in the underground are different though, they’re all rocky.
I do miss the underground, more for digging up fossils and evo stones than for any other reason.
They are different and don’t quite have the same feeling..but at least you get to decorate them. I hope they revamp the underground though, it could use more features and maybe differing base sizes as well.
I hope we can build houses because if that’s the case I would build mine near the beach on Akala. It would be a beach house!!!
i think i would of rather we build our own gyms inside and out. now that would be awesome because atleast then we can actually do online battling with people around the world with our own way, with types and methods. its just something i have always wanted in a pokemon game though it’s unlikely to happen -__-

My Alola question: Hypothetically, if there were an Alola Dragonite what do you all think would be the in-game reasoning for its change on Alola? Also what typing would it be?

There would be very little reason to change since Dragonite don’t have much problem living anywhere
They either sleep at massive depths in the ocean or tall craggy mountains but I theorize Dragonites don’t tend to stay in one place since they regularly circle the globe
Perhaps its body becomes more serpentine to navigate the deep waters at a faster pace. Dragonite’s speed is rather lackluster, after all. I’m sure it’s described in the dex as being fast though.
To me competitive stats and dex entries are two different animals
But I still regard them as facts otherwise anyone could say anything about a Pokemon and be true gotta have some guidance

hmm ide say it would be water/dragon type if it were to adapt like the other alola forms, and the reasoning would be “Because some dragonite prefer to swim instead of fly to get around, their bodies changed due to its swimming skills. it’s wings are now used like webbed fin’s to help it turn corner’s smoothly and faster” i can picture it being an ocean blue colour with a white shiny tummy, webbed wings and fins, thinner, longer tail and maybe an orb on its head to resemble its pre evolution “dragonair” i suppose i could think of a better lore on its adaption but its the best i got 🙂

hmm i would dress in a nice dark orange tee with a black sun and water below it and an alolan exeggutor beside it. for bottoms ide wear cut offs with a red or purple tips/ends. and hopefully wear flip flops if they give us that option of footwear, if not maybe flat shoes of my favourite colour purple. my hair would be medium long and black though with a different coloured cap mainly blue or purple…xD yeah its a tad specific but i can just picture it 😛
