New Pokémon Sun & Pokémon Moon Trailers [SEP 6]

As announced last week today we’ve been treated to a megaton of new information for Pokémon Sun & Pokémon Moon! An all-new trailer has been released showcasing new Pokémon, Ultra Beasts, new mechanics and even more.

In addition to the English trailer, a Japanese trailer has been released containing some slightly different footage, though shares the same information.

New Information

  • Ultra Beasts are revealed and don’t appear to be Pokémon as we know them
  • Type: Null is a Normal-type Pokémon that has the ability Battle Armour. Type: Null is a synethtic Pokémon that was created to synthesize the strengths of various Pokémon, meaning it can adapt to any situation. The Pokémon’s mask is used to control it’s powers and also slows the Pokémon down
  • Jangmo-o is a new Dragon-type Pokémon with the ability Bulletproof/Soundproof
  • Alolan Raticate are Dark/Normal-type with Gluttony/Hustle for their ability
  • Pokémon Sun & Moon are set 12 hours apart from one another, meaning certain events in the games will play out differently
  • The Aether Foundation are a new group in Sun & Moon
  • Lusamine is President of the foundation, Faba is a Branch Chief and Wicke is an Assistant Branch Chief
  • Gladion is Team Skull’s Enforcer
  • The Zygarde Cube is an item given to players that allows you them collect Zygarde Cores and Cells across the Alola region
  • Poké Finder allows you to take photos of Pokémon using your Rotom Pokédex
  • UB-01 is an Ultra Beast

That’s all that has been officially revealed in the trailers, though we invite our readers to discuss and speculate in our comment section below!

  1. We might get second stage evos but, what I’m hoping most for, is to get some video which states cleary wether we will get “synchro” or not.

Maybe this depends of rockruff’ evolution as some rumours hint. I personally would dislike synchro when we already got megas (and megas are also about strong link between pokemon and trainer).

Also I would love to see if we’re getting any new mega, or alolan pokemon from other generations, or even any new character involved in trials or elite four -wathever functions as the “stablishment” of this game.

    Too many questions!!

    • In the short time I’ve been a member here Pokejungle has confirmed what I always knew to be true; if a site has a like/dislike system there will always be dislikes on everything. No matter how intrinsically good that thing is. A site could announce that Santa Claus had been discovered and people would dislike it. It could announce that the governments of the world had finally come together and agreed on world peace… and someone would still down vote it… Just how people are

    • On a serious note, I’ve heard some people complaining they’re “showing too much” – multiple batches of news per month and what not.

It doesn’t bother me at all, personally, I love the news, but there are those who wish to keep as much as possible a surprise and I suppose it’s hard to do that with so many updates and people discussing them.

  2. I hope they continue the Collosseum/XD series on the NX. I know they most likely wont but Orre was an underrated region and the games were awesome!

  3. I can’t remember who it was, but yesterday I noticed someone claiming that Megas will most certainly not make a return. I have to disagree on this. Its confirmed that part of the 2017 Pokemon merchandise in Japan will include Megas, so that basically gives away that we’ll have them in SuMo as well.

  5. I AM SO EXCITED! 😀
I have a 9 AM OBGYN class, so I’m up early to see the news drop before I have to leave!!!
I’m REALLY hoping we get a few things:

-Confirmation of the presence of Megas.
    -Starter middle evos.
-One or two Alolan Forms (crosses fingers that it’s Arcanine or Dragonite!)

    What say you guys? =D

  6. So I’m a bit confised with Sun and Moon’s 12 hours? Does it mean that the times won’t follow the 3DS clock and go on its own basis, or the time will be flipped?

  7. Wow! Some neat information!
That Ultra Beast has a great design. Love it. Wonder what it means.

That 2nd team looks neat, love the design.

At this point I worry if they make the games overcomplicated with all these forms, beasts and teams.

    But it doea look awesome.

While evidence of something like a survival instinct can be observed in UB-01, no one knows whether it has a will of its own or any emotions. It’s said that, for some reason, its movements resemble those of a young girl.”

    • Well, have you all noted that Lillie, Lusamine and Skull team Enforcer Gladion all have the same hair and eye color? Someone pointed out that Gladion might have a shaky hand because he can’t contain his human form for long.. ha. They might or not be the Ultra Beasts! Specially since Gladion is using a Synthetic Pokémon.

  9. the boy and girl blondes in the trailer looks like they’re related to the rich girl, due to the green eyes that they have.

It can’t be Cynthia because her eye color is grey

    • Pokemon.com’s description also mentions its movements matching a “Young Girl”. HELLO! I think we may have a hint as to who our mystery girl is.

      Reply
      • “It matches a young girl”… Ash-Greninja and Ash’s movements match as well… Perhaps this might be something similar to synchro? I don’t think Lillie is the actual pokemon… But her DNA May have been used to make it

    • It is her, now that you come to mention it. But from the way it came out of the portal, makes me think this might have some connections to Giratina. Of the legendary trios in Sinnoh.

  11. I absolutely adore Jangmo-o and Type: Null. The Aether Foundation is basically a source of good. Lille is totally a part of them. The cutscenes in S/M look outstanding. Lastly, what rumour said that time will work differently in the game?

  12. WAIT…..does anyone else notice the STRIKING similarities in both dress and physical appearance between Lillie and this Aether Foundation President?!?!

Even their ideals seem to be similar…..

  13. Type: Null
    CATEGORY Synthetic Pokémon
    TYPE Normal
    HEIGHT 6’03”
    WEIGHT 265.7 lbs.
    ABILITY Battle Armor
This Pokémon wearing a mask has been dubbed “Null,” meaning nothing.

The shapes of its front and hind legs are clearly different. The reason is that Type: Null was constructed to synthesize the strengths of various Pokémon, enabling it to adapt to any situation.

The mask fitted to Type: Null’s head is a piece of equipment designed to control its latent powers. It’s extremely heavy, so it also serves to hinder Type: Null’s agility.

To complete a certain mission, there was need of a Pokémon powerful enough to rival those Pokémon often spoken of in mythology.

Jangmo-o has the pride of a warrior, although it remains humble about its capabilities. In its pursuit to become stronger, it never neglects its training.

Because Jangmo-o uses the scales on its head for both offense and defense, it never turns its back to its enemies. Many Trainers see this behavior and take it as proof that Jangmo-o is a valiant Pokémon.

Jangmo-o gather in harsh locales like canyons, where no other people or Pokémon are around, to live together as they train.

  16. Alolan Raticate
    CATEGORY Mouse Pokémon
    TYPE Dark/Normal
    HEIGHT 2’04”
    WEIGHT 56.2 lbs.
    ABILITY Gluttony/Hustle
Because urban areas are their main habitat, their diet is higher in calories than ordinary Raticate. As a result, they have become hefty.

Alolan Raticate prefers to eat only fresh fruits and high-class ingredients. There are rumors that a certain top-notch restaurant takes advantage of Alolan Raticate’s taste buds by bringing it along when choosing ingredients to buy, and having it taste test new dishes.

Alolan Raticate continually stockpile huge amounts of food in their nests. They mostly prefer to send out Alolan Rattata to gather food while they themselves stay home in their nests and just eat.

Alolan Raticate is the Totem Pokémon of the trial that takes place in Verdant Cavern on Melemele Island in Pokémon Moon.* It summons Rattata to help it confront those who take on the trial.

*Gumshoos appears as the Totem Pokémon in Verdant Cavern in Pokémon Sun.

  19. A mysterious presence threatens the Alola region—Ultra Beasts!
In the Alola region, rumors are flying about mysterious creatures known as Ultra Beasts. Ultra Beasts possess mighty powers and could pose a threat to humans and Pokémon, so they are feared.

It appears that the Aether Foundation is also conducting research on these Ultra Beasts.

According to rumor, multiple Ultra Beasts exist, each of them called by a code name.

  22. Ultra beasts are likely something specific to this game, much like the movie monsters in BW. Not real Pokemon but artificial ones like some have speculated.

Type: null is a dumb name. At first I thought they were introducing another type. He’s way over designed and still shrouded in mystery. There’s something special about it and I don’t know what.

Dragon: cute. Pseudo legend for sure.

  23. I love Ultra Beasts SOOO much. They’re even more elusive than Legendaries, they’re like multidimensional gods. I thought this game couldn’t get any better.

    • The concept is definitely interesting!
I’m feeling kind of iffy, though. It almost seems too unPokemon, if that makes sense. xD
And the odd names are throwing me for a loop.
      Type: Null? xD

      Reply
      • Mostly likely it was an experiment to create a pokemon with a Null type that could take on the Characteristics of other pokemon typings and be able to basically reflect them back. Type: Null that is.

        Reply
      • if you think about it, it makes sense, if you have read the description for it, it being a synthetic pokemon practically created with other parts of pokemon to adapt to almost anything around it, then its alot like mewtwo, i mean hey mewtwo is literally mew with a 2 on the end. so why not type: Null?! :p though i think it would of been better if they had just called it Null. would of been less confusing and easier to remember. what i wanna know is if it taakes another form, since its description tells us that the helmet keeps its powers under control and slows it down since its heavy, what if that was taken of, ripped off? broken? that would make it 1000x stronger than it actually is. another thing, i dont get why its a normal type, looks more like a dark/steel type to me but thats just my opinion xD

  24. i gotta say these were amazing!! the ONLY thing i dislike is alolan raticate……like what is that?! its now a fat black rat with chubby cheeks -___- but on a good note, the best pokemon i like in these trailers is definitely that cute dragon, already forgot its name xD im terrible haha! still its adorable as hell!!

  25. Is Type: Null an Ultra Beast? I didn’t see any indication of that in the English trailer, nor on the site, where it’s put under Pokemon, while UB-01 is put on a separate page

    • We don’t even know what it is… It looks like Lillie but Ash-Greninja looks like ash as well… And Ultra Beast(S) implies there’s more than one

      • True, true. It’d be a nice twist, but then I suddenly realized the horrific implications of if that thing really is Lillie. You could potentially be catching her and tossing her into the PC box, never to be seen again!

  26. I’m really happy about all the new people we have! It’s clear that this story will be bigger than any other we’ve had. With so many people interacting and having specific roles I think this could one of the greatest Pokemon games out there if not THE best lol

  28. I got a theory. Sure, it’s connecting what other people said, but I wanna bunch it all into one thing and make my own conclusions.
Lillie is a Ultra-Beast disguised as a human. But she has a ‘brother’. Gladion. He’s also an Ultra Beast. And Lusamine is their ‘mother’ (maybe an Ultra Beast herself, who knows)
Or, at the very fact, Lillie is one. She’s the one who’s the more mysterious one. Maybe Lusamine has a real son, Gladion, who rebelled and went to Team Skull. Wanting to feel like a mother again, she makes Lillie.
All I know is that Lillie was nowhere in that Aether Foundation gameplay, and I feel it’s important.

  29. I feel like the trailer was slightly underwhelming this time.
Honestly, it’s because we’ve been used to getting tons of new Pokemon. xD
It’s very good that this time though, they focused on giving us much more about story elements and features, rather than just more new Mons.

  31. Wait wait….HOLD THE HELL UP… Aether Foundation…??? Aether… Wether is deeply connected to alchemy… OH MY GOD LOCKSTIN *MIGHT* ACTUALLY BE RIGHT

    Reply
    • Well less his theory is right, and more that this game has themes of alchemy in it, which was already known between litten having the alchemic symbol for sulfur on its face and solgaleo being the literal lion devouring the sun. His theory on the series coming to an end is just another dime a dozen theory of pokemon ending. We get these every generation, though I’ll admit he’s put in a lot more effort then most do in it.

  32. So since we’re all making guesses as to Lillie’s connection to UB-01, i’ll throw my hat in I guess. I’m guessing they have a relationship similar to Maria and Shadow. Given the 01 part of its name its safe to assume that it was the first one to be discovered. Also given Lillie’s appearance being all white, pale skin and green eyes, its likely shes connected to this new group. Perhaps she’s the child, or sibling of the president and as a young child she came into contact with 01 and managed to befriend it, or something to that degree. I think we’re really jumping to gun to assume that she’s a pokemon.

    Reply
  33. Theory, what if Lillie and Galdion (since the look similar) are actually clones of Lusamine? Look at how Galdion is holding his hand as if its uncontrollable when he sends out Type: Null, not to mention that maybe Type: Null was given to him by her or Aether to fight, and it too is an artificial Pokemon, and Galdion’s purpose was to spy on Team Skull, while Lilly was to spy on Professor Ku Kui for the Aether Foundation. IDK, I get a bad vibe from them as I did with Cipher.

  43. Just gonna throw it out there, but as of today, with the revealed new Pokemon (legends, Magearna, and Ultra Pokemon included, as well as the supposed Cutefly evo) our total is now at 43 brand new Pokemon. If you want to use a bit of evidence digging and a some round guesses here and there (starters have 3 evos, Rockruff evo hinted so adding 1, Pokedex pic shows that Pekipeck has 2 evos) then we have most likely 53 confirmed new Pokemon atm. Sorry if this is not something people are interested in but its good to share as some are concerned about how much new Pokemon are in this Gen.

    Reply
      • True, they are changing things this gen. But for now its a speculator guess for them being a 3 stage line. There are also supported rumors that they have a split final evo depending on day and night however.

        Reply
    • I was worried they would reveal all the Pokémon but with the size of Alola, it doesn’t look like it should be worried about.

  44. So this is a masive leap in logic, but…does anyone get the vibe that the Aether foundation looks MORE villainous than Team Skull? The leaders all scream, “the nicest psychos” and they even have male and female grunts. They also seem to have way more resources to pull off something involving legendaries, after a Team Plasma esque guise of protecting Pokemon. I dunno, they seem too…nice for their own good.

I could see them pulling something come the end of the game and Guzma’s rag tag group of misfits actually have to team up with you.

    Reply
  45. I’m really disliking this framing of Aether Foundation as the “real” villainous team… Like I get it if you don’t necessarily like team skull or their theme but don’t go disrespecting my boy Guzma like that!!! He is destruction incarnate!

If anything this is a Team Aqua/Magma situation

    Reply
    • I’m not dissing Team Skull, heck, I appreciate them a lot, they are a breath of fresh air.
I just don’t see them doing evil, world-changing things, like past evil teams have done. With the Aether Foundation, I can see them being like Team Plasma, hiding behind a facade of good. Having Team Skull also helps their disguise, since people (well, excluding me) would be expecting that they are the main ones, while the real damage is being done in the background by the Aether Foundation.
It’s a fake out I’ve seen in other media (mostly books) so I’m not surprised by it.

      Reply
      • I like this idea a lot! I even like the idea of teaming up with team skull at the end. They have a redemptive quality that makes them so interesting to me. Guzma and Kukui both having a similar past of being rejected trial captains but taking it two different ways! I LOVE Team Skull for that reason.

        Reply
        • I would love for that to happen, possibly a moment where Guzma reflects on himself and realizes he needs to move on past his failures and decides afterward to be Kukui’s assistant or something.
And I love the fact they are foils, same situation, different outcomes. Foils are my fave story-telling element.

          Reply
          • EXACTLY!!! It’s so much depth to it! These games are definitely going to have some powerful story elements. I can not wait lol

  46. Aether giving off the wolf in sheep clothing vibe to me, I feel like they experiment with Pokemon with Gladion a former member/has history with Lusamine, and that’s why he has Type: Null, also feel like they’re gonna have somin to do with Zygarde as well
I mean this gen seems to be about nature and being one with Pokemon and you’ve got lab coats out here tryna take that to the extreme, even creating an artificial island

    Reply
    • Nature vs Man/Technology 🙂 It’s definitely something I imagined as a conflict for this game, especially with all the info about Alola being this Pokemon-filled paradise

  48. Haven’t read the convos below but I’m calling something right now:

Lillie is from team Aether and UB-01 is her (or related to her in some way). It looks like her and the US website says:

“While evidence of something like a survival instinct can be observed in UB-01, no one knows whether it has a will of its own or any emotions. It’s said that, for some reason, its movements resemble those of a young girl”

    Reply
  49. Ok first off, I LOVE Jungmo-o as it seems like that type who fight for you till the end, and I totally believe it’ll become the Pseudo Legendary this gen. BUT, after reading it’s description, does anyone else get a vibe that maybe this dragon will be a split evo? Like as of the site, maybe one is Dragon/Fighting, and the other is Dragon/Steel, I mean look here: “Because Jangmo-o uses the scales on its head for both offense and defense, it never turns its back to its enemies.” So maybe it has a split evo? My guess is that its evolutions maybe related to Rockruff and our Starters too 😉

I also think there will be boats traveling around the region that may serve as shops or transportation. We see the same magikarp boat in two shots. Reminds me of the shop boats in Wind Waker.

I’m also wondering how time will function in the game. Will it be on an actual 24 hour system like past games? Or will time be faster than real time? This kinda affects which game I’ll make my hub. I don’t want it be night time whenever I’m trying to play and breed stuff.

They only ever show Moon at night to compare to Suns day…..Am I getting this right? lol

  61. I think someone said something about UB-01 being from another universe/world, well, looking back on the trailer, I spotted something Lusamine said.
“Even Pokemon from distant worlds, far from the Alola region, are worthy of my love”
Explains the happy look when UB-01 appears in the trailer.
I still think AF created it, but I found something to talk about

    • Maybe they were looking for ways to summon pokemon from other worlds? And so they broke a barrier but something went wrong with Lillie during the process? Maybe UB-01 sort of imprinted on her and now it’s attracted to her aura or something

  62. I felt that Team Skull would end up helping us in the end…that’s certainly more plausible now with the Aether Foundation. I don’t even know what’s going on anymore, GameFreak just keeps throwing curveball after curveball and I love it. Sina and Dexio returning is also huge imo in terms of going back to Kalos. Why are they here, why do they want us to help search for Zygarde, is something wrong, did Olympia have a vision lmao.

Judging by her white outfit seeming similar to the Aether guys, who I’m thinking are the real bad guys here, I wanna say some kinda gene splicing happened and that UB has some essence of Lillie in it, hence the look. I’d be like if they tried to make Mewtwo using only half of Mew and filled in the rest with a human, resulting in a Mewtwo X looking thing.

If you want ‘normal’, get Sun.

      Reply
    • it’s honestly not even that complicated at all. Important events during the story are going to happen in the day in Sun version and will happen at night in Moon version. That’s pretty much it. It gives the game the proper feel, why would you play Moon version when it’s day time 24/7

      Reply
    • moon- 12 hours ahead because they want u to experience the version more at night.
Sun- Same as your 3ds clock.
Moon is meant to be played at night since it is a moon version, all major events will be at night instead of day,
Cycle is still the same just one game is 12 hours ahead

  70. Alright, now that I had time to think about this, here’s my revised theory.
Lusamine has a daughter and a son (or all of them could be sibilings, point is there are related). Lillie and Gladion. AF are working on making Ultra Beasts for reasons. UB-01 takes a liking to Lillie and learns to mimic her. Because of this, Lillie has second thoughts and leaves, becoming Kukui’s assistant to maybe find someone to help her stop her mother.
Gladion, meanwhile, had a change of heart as well, but had a different approach. He joined Team Skull so he could use them to stop his mother. He obviously has similar thoughts to Lillie, as shown in the scene where he says that you shouldn’t battle him as your Pokemon will get hurt. He pauses after that statement and closes his eyes. He doesn’t want to do that, but knows he has to in order to fulfill his future goal.
Sorry for spamming theories, but I’m really excited and my theory brain is on overdrive. I’ve always been a person that wants to guess what will happen next in media. Usually I’m wrong, but it doesn’t stop me from doing it.

Some of the Pokémon that appear in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are different. What’s more, there’s a difference in the way time is set in the two games.

Except for a few scenes, time in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon is tied to the actual time. Pokémon Sun operates on the same time as your Nintendo 3DS system, but time in the world of Pokémon Moon is shifted by 12 hours.

Some of the Pokémon that appear in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon
are different—including Solgaleo and Lunala, which hold the key to the

This makes me believe that Type: Null is not is actual name just a reference to it being like an experiment. Type: Null is a multigene pokemon (italian dex), is synthetic, has latent powers and is described “powerful enough to rival those Pokémon often spoken of in mythology”. Remember when the leaker said that Marshadow has a unique type combination? I don’t think normal type fits its entry and design (and, well, name of course). I think it could be some early form of Marshadow, it also has some shadow theme in its design.

Rattata wasn’t even the same type as mentioned fully, you’d have though Normal would have been mentioned.
This added with Fire Arcanine is enough to disprove that one leak, and all that mention the same things.

    Reply
    • I’d say the leak as a whole isn’t proven fake. Some part may be red herrings, but they still got some very hard to argue things right. Like Oricorio, Alolan forms in general, and now this weird day and night system. It’s got a lot more going for it than it does against I’d say.

      Reply
        • No I know exactly what you’re talking about. Those typing’s for the supposed Alolan forms were from a subsequent leak that was related the original Chinese leaks. The same leak talked about a bird with different forms depending on which island you find it (Oricorio), the Alolan forms in general(obv), and the day night system being different depending on the version you play. We’re talking about the same thing. The leak got some things right and some things wrong. The Pokemon being not quite the same as the leaks doesn’t disprove it. It just means they put in some fake stuff/slightly off stuff in it for whatever reasons they had.

          Reply
    • That leak was right on Oricorio, on Time working differently, on Rattata being a dark type (cause it is a dark type, you can also say that greninja is a dark type cause it is beside being water), why shoud we believe it, right? We saw a normal meowth before alola meowth, this proves nothing.

        • They did mention different forms of old pokemon, if I recall correctly. I could be wrong though.

Still, lots of things that chinese list said came into fruition, one way or another.

          • they did mention a new forms for old pokemon, but the list you see with butterfree and alakazam came after the announcement of alolan forms. so like they could of made up a bunch of pokemon. Rattata wasn’t a good enough reason to believe it, dark type is the only other type you could fit on it that would make sense for a rattata .

          • Oh, I thought you said about the chinese leak… No, I still think the Alolan Pokemon list is a trolly one. In that, they guessed Rattata right.

  101. I love Type:Null. It has a great design. But I was expecting a never seen before ability from it. Maybe a signature move will make it unique. Yes the naming is different, but it’s meant to be too literal. It’s more like a placeholder name they gave to it and basically all of its foreign names are literal translations.

Also with the new pics of Butterfree and Alakazam being shown in most probably in game scenes it’s possible not all the Pokemon they mentioned will get forms. Either way they’re allowed to make mistakes as long as the broad strokes are in line lol

          • I’m still in the camp that it could happen. I don’t believe the footage we say of ti was good enough evidence to say it won’t get a forms and until we see a character use one I’ll stick to that lol

          • but its on the Japanese website in the section “pokemon found in Alola” along with Dragonite Munchlax Line Etc

          • Yeah….but we still don’t have a solid idea what that section is really for. Sure it’s definitely odd, but I’m not so sure it’s hard proof yet. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on tho lol

          • the section is for old pokemon found in alola. all the pokemon on that page has been seen in gameplay trailers.

          • Hmmm well I’m still not gonna give up hope…….although honestly idk why I even care….the leak as a whole is decently credible without Arcanine anyway…….I honestly don’t care if Arcanine gets a form or not hahahaha

So if someone 12 hours ahead of you is playing Sun, it’ll be the same as you playing Moon at that same time.

      Reply
      • Hmm…that’s interesting.

I thought it meant they the events of Moon are basically 12 hours apart from the events of Sun. So if Sun takes place say 6am to 6pm, then Moon takes place at day 6pm to 6am. So you need both games for the full story.

The Day/Night cycle is largely the same as it’s always been. The only difference is that Pokemon Moon’s clock is set 12hrs ahead of your 3DS clock. This is done so that when most people are playing, which is during the day irl, it will be night in game. If you want to play during the DAY in Pokemon MOON you will need to play AFTER 12:00am…. That’s what the difference is. Can we stop asking now? Please. Like it’s really not that difficult or complicated to understand…. -___- .

Once again, if it’s DAYTIME IRL, it’s NIGHT IN MOON. If it’s NIGHT IRL, it’s DAYTIME IN MOON…

    • Unless someone make this a featured post people are still going to ask since the post will get lost in the thread.

Unless of course someone updates the Article with this information, since it’s not in there.

      Reply
      • Also keep in mind that people keep tuning in at later times of the day, hence why more people keep asking. Though I don’t get what all the overall confusion is about. There’s no mystery about all of this, it was pretty clearly stated.

        • The only thing stated on both Serebii and here is that the games are set 12 hours apart. That doesn’t exactly explain the idea.

Granted I haven’t looked at the official site or watched the video yet since I’m not at home.

          Reply
          • Nah, the official site says it. Basically, Moon’s internal time is an inversion of your 3DS clock. So if you want to be really edgy, you could set the clock ahead 12 hours and play Moon during the day…during the day.

          • Yeh that’s why I said
either your post needs to be featured or the site updated.

Since most people use sites like Serebii and PJ to get a general overview of the information in one place as opposed to going on the official site and trawling through numerous pages.

        • I understand people coming in later and seeing it but both the trailer and even the post state “12hrs ahead” not “only takes place at night”. It’s really beginning to annoy me. People just need to read for once and stop reacting before they do -___-

          • Though I will say that I’m the one who brought up that the Aether guys are really evil, so if I’m wrong, you can blame me for spreading that one.

          • Nah it’s pretty obvious they’re up to no good. My issue was people discrediting Team Skull because Aether foundation exists. THAT made me upset because like Team Skull is the first antagonistic team with flavor and personality since team rocket really… All the others are just different shades of the Megolomaniacal take over the whole region/world/universe variety…

          • I think Team Skull’s deal is on a more personal level. They rebel because they probably feel like they’ve been personally wronged by society. So…while they’re out and about causing havok, Aether’s gene splicing and creating horrors in their basement.

…or the two are actually working together and their public fights are just a front. Who knows.

      • You’re not, trust me. And for you I definitely am more understanding. Especially since both PJ and serebii say 12hrs apart instead of moon being 12hrs ahead. You’re good no worries :). It’s all the native English speakers I’m starting to get annoyed with smh…

      • That still goes with what I said tho? Sunrise means morning. Daytime is usually understood to be after 12 or noon. It would be noon in Moon when the time is 0:00

  111. My theory about the main plot:

New creatures coming from a distant universe and called Ultra Beasts appeared in Alola. The evil plans of Team Skull and a secret faction of Aether Foundation is to experiment with them and Pokemon, so they can create stronger Pokemon to dominate the world.

The “good” part of Aether Foundation and the Trainer should stop them with the help of Solgaleo, Lunala and Zygarde, for restoring the order of the world and make those creatures disappear and go back from where they belong.

        Reply
        • I have a new theory I see Type: Null is just like Mewtwo just a difference in stories Aether tried to clone Arceus and failed creating Type: Null which then escaped and fell into the hands of Gladion who noticed its potential and uses it to enforce an uprising against Aether for same reasons like Mewtwo

          Reply
          • not a bad theory, though I would say that Gladion looks a lot like Lusamine, almost like he could be her child, and perhaps he’s the original trainer of Type: null. Maybe he was a part of Aether to begin with and used Type: null to combat the UB’s before eventually finding out his mom/sister is evil and intern leaves with Type: null and joins up with team skull as a necessary evil to spot them.

  112. I like how they just tacked on the Ultra beasts at the end, with little to no explanation.

Also I like the Aether foundation, but something tell me they are the primary bad guys, while Team Skull are just misunderstood in their attempts to stop them. I really hope that’s not how it goes however. It’s just too obvious.

      • Yeh that what I’m saying. I don’t want that to happen.

Maybe Team Skull are a front for the Aether foundation. They conduct all their dirty work, while the Aether foundation maintains its clean image to the public.

  114. So I think the trailer may have lowkey confirmed that ultra beasts ARE pokemon. Just pokemon from another dimension. Based on what The president of the Aether Foundation says here

    Reply
      • I don’t think so… Of they are pokemon from other regions then technology in the “main universe” wouldn’t necessarily work on them. And I for the record don’t think Lillie is UB-01 but I do think they are very connected

        Reply
          • Even in range main universe there are theories that pokemon, or at least some of them, come from space. Clefairy and the Elgeheym(spelling?) are examples. Pokemon DNA could definitely just be floating on asteroids in space and different planets have different pokemon. It’s similar to the seed theory of life origination here in the real world

    • She specifically references pokemon from different worlds as opposed to regions. The pokemon games have referred to far away places as regions still before so it’s strange to see her say “worlds” here specifically

  118. Here’s how I’m now seeing it. Honestly I never thought Team Skull was all that bad to begin with. Yes they are an “evil” team and yes they do bad things, but I never saw them as the typical bad guy we usually get. even if you take into account Teams like Team Rocket and Plasma where they weren’t necessarily out to destroy the world per say and were on a semi smaller scale as far as destruction goes, Team Skull seemed a little too….what’s the word I’m looking for…..schmuck-y? Either way they seemed a bit too small scale to actually be a threat to anyone that would stand up to them. Then enters the Aether Foundation. They “seem” to have good intention, but immediately you pick up vibes like you don’t trust them. I could see something like this happening(SEMI-LONG POST COMING
:Throughout the game Team Skull is doing what it does and causes trouble here and there. AF are around acting like they hate Team Skull for being terrible and whatnot. HOWEVER! In the background AF are slowly working toward whatever their “true” goal is. All the while they are pointing the blame for everything bad happening at Team Skull even though they probably couldn’t hurt a fly much less the region or world, By the end AF ends up showing it’s true colors and the good characters and Team Skull have to stop AF some how. Team Skull might not have too much to do with stopping the final plan, but I could see Guzma having a heart to heart with Kukui and lending a hand here and there. Either way they’l in a way redeem themselves and Lusamine is shown to be a crazy B%$CH that’s been experimenting on humans and Pokemon alike. I’m not sure how Solgaleo and Lunala fit in, but they’d be around too lol Anyway that’s what I could see happening.

  119. Holy crap I just realized something! If you watch the Japanese trailer when their cycling through towns, which what appear to be cut scenes of when you first arrive, there’s one that appears to be a Japanese/Chinese inspired town with a strip of shops on both sides that has a Hypno and a Delibird on screen. If you slow down the footage, you see the Delibird move, by flying!

My wish came true. Flying Penguins are confirmed for Sun and Moon T-T. I mean yeah its likely a reference to the Anime where Delibird could fly, but I don’t care. He’s living the dream!

    Reply
      • yeah I know, but most depictions of it have never really shown that off. Its generally portrayed as a big red penguin and rarely is it ever shown that it can actually learn moves beside present.

That, and its a really weird way to animate it when giving it a walking cycle would have probably been easier for them. But i’m not an animator so I can only speculate.

  122. Ok, theory time. Ok, so it’s pretty obviously that Lillie has some connection to UB-01. I think that the Aether Foundations goal is to bring Pokemon closer to humans, but not in the way you think. In the Canalave Library, there is a book that talks about when Pokemon and people weren’t much different and treated each other as equals until Pokemon evolved more into animals over time. Alola forms already are examples of Darwinian evolution in Pokemon SuMo so this makes it much more interesting

My theory is that in order to try to restore Pokemon to a more human like state, they experimented on Lusamine’s daughter, Lillie and created her into a shape shifting Pokemon to blur the line between people and Pokemon.

Some things to note are 1: People turning into Pokemon has been mentioned by scientists in both XY and ORAS. We can guess that ORAS was the beginning of the creation of this technology. Since Gen 3 and 1 happen at least the same time, there are 3 years between then and Gen 2 and 4, at least a year between then and gen 5, 2 years between BW and B2W2, a year between then and XY and presumably a year between then and SuMo. 8 years. And next year will be the 8th year since Platinum came out. Zygarde 100% also has the colors for XY and SuMo… And white for Platinum. This summents the Sinnoh connection, providing further evidence.

Oh and Lillie also dislikes Pokemon battles

    • I like this theory, also can you tell me where you got the timeline of the gens? I only really know that gen 6 happens “a while” after gen 5 according to the guy in shalour city

      Reply
    • This theory is pretty dope there’s just one hole in it. Omega Ruby and Alpha sapphire are not known to take place at the same time as Fire red and leaf green. Ruby and sapphire do. In the Delta Episode (SPOILERS) zinnia makes a reference to the fact that there are different pokemon universes and timelines. ORAS takes place in the same universe and timeline as X and Y. We don’t know about any other gens connection to this timeline yet tho. Besides SuMo due to Sina and Dexio

      Reply
        • That’s not how timelines work tho . Just take zelda for example. After ocarina there are three distinct timelines. None of them share any events besides what happenened before ocarina. And considering this timeline split is recent, we don’t know what our “ocarina” is to know which events all timelines share

          Reply
      • every game takes place in a different world to other’s but the basic timeline is the same
        RBY=RSE=ORAS
        3 Years later
        GSC=DPPlt=HGSS
Unknown time but probably about 2-3 years
        BW
        2 Years later
        B2W2=XY
        Unknown amount probably 2-3
        SM

        Reply
        • This doesn’t work tho because ORAS=/=RSE… Zinnia herself said that the events that happened in ORAS didn’t happen in this other universe. The asteroid, the war 3000 years ago, etc. if they have different histories then they have different events and we can no longer infer through syllogism that ORAS=RBY/FRLG…

          Reply
          • It’s a very loose canon, but what I merely meant is that it happens at the same time, in an alternate universe, in fact, every game seperatly would have to be it’s own universe too to work.
Narrowing it down however to just 1 pair of set games and counting it as 1 game, OR/AS would still happen at the same time as R/S and FR/LG, and R/B/Y, but in a world with an alternate history, and so it still works and the Timeline remains the same.

  123. Okay, those facial expressions on the main character are so good in the cutscenes (both overworld and cinematic cutscenes). This is the most emotion we have gotten out of ANY protag from Pokemon

But yes, there’s always that option, but I would much rather not think about it. 😛

          • I agree. I dont want to get my hopes up too high but it’s hard considering what we know. These news drops are not only revealing new pokemon, but often a new feature as well.

The 12 hours thing is so cool! That means it’ll likely be evening when I play sun, and dawn in moon. This has me so hyped. I’m calling it now, Aether foundation are evil. I also love the idea that you aren’t some 10 year old taking down an organized crime group, you actually have help this time. Jangmo-o is wierd, I mean it’s ok, but nothing special IMO. Now Type: Null is literally my favorite gen 7 pokemon hands down. Hopefully it can breed or you can catch one before post game. I want that thing so bad. Cutiefly evo looks exactly like I expected it too, no real surprise there. Also I’m really glad Sina and Dexio are back. I really think they had potential to be memorable characters, and now they get a second chance. Maybe they take is back to Kalos? The pokemon snap thing is really cool, since I’ve never actually gotten to play snap. So the ultra beast things are wierd, but I like them. I never thought I’d have to ask this regarding a pokemon game, but are they pokemon at all? I mean I’d assume they are if mewtwo is considered one. A follow up question: will we be able to catch them? I hope they are really tough to beat. Here’s a crazy thought: what if, since we don’t have a traditional league, they take place of the elite four? Maybe we have to take them down after we beat Team Skull (and aether foundation lol). What a news drop, this has me so hyped for the games. If the games are really as content packed as they seem, these may be the best games yet.

    • I know right? For the first time going into the games I’m still going to be guessing what could happen! lol In all the other games (even BW to an extent) It’s been pretty obvious what you need to do and what the bad guys are gonna do, but this time the story seems WAY more complex and has way more characters involved. I could see the story of these games being longer than the typical Pokemon game. Maybe not by much, but it’ll definitely be more intricate.

        • I’d be willing to bet these will be the best Pokemon games to date. BW had a good story, but the fact that Team Plasma was so fickle with it’s ideals made me feel like it was almost half baked to some degree. It’s almost like GF wanted people to think about how enslaving animals and making them battle were wrong, but then remembered that that’s basically what the series is about and had to clean up their tracks to make you feel better about how….well you’re enslaving animals and making them fight lol

  129. I wonder what Jangmo-o Will evolve into? since it’s dex reads: Jangmo-o has the pride of a warrior, although it remains humble about its capabilities.

I think the Pokemon in her bag was UB-01 or another Ultra Beast, the cries are rather similar. Also, I do think Aether Foundation is just a bunch of good guys doing good. It would be an obvious story cliche if their evil. Lastly, I’m heavily leaning towards Moon now. – Gladion, whose name most likely refers to the flower gladiolus actually has a unique relation to a lily, plant-wise. The gladiolus is often called the, “sword lily” even though it has no relations to the lily and the gladioli was the symbol of many a gladiators during Roman history. In addition, the flower symbolizes moral integrity and strength.

    – Lucamine, whose name most likely is in correlation to a jasmine means “pure” or “lucky.” The name may also be in reference towards Lucifer whose name means, “bringer of dawn.”

    Reply
    • Going with the whole Lucifer angle, Mine in Arabic means something like “God is my light” which could explain her love and maternal attitude to people, albeit a stretch. Like trying to come across as pure, but eventually shows her true colors of being horrible; maybe even having a god complex like Cyrus, which would be yet another nod at gen 4 remakes.

      Reply
    • Luca probably does come from ‘lux’ like the first part of ‘lucifer’ but I’m not sure it quite corellates.

Also there’s debate over how Lucifer translates. Many translate it as “Morning star”, “the planet venus” or “light-bringing”. My copy of the collins Latin dictionary lists it as “light-bringing”, “morning star”, “Venus” and “day”, in that order.

    • One of my theories (admitedly not a very good one) was that they’re finding a way to remove all the pokemon and take them to some other dimension or something so that humans can’t force them to battle and they can live in peace. Kind of like a Noah’s Ark deal.

    – To achieve Synchro-Evolution akin to Ash-Greninja, Lusamine allows the experimentation of Lillie, her own daughter
    – The experiment went terribly wrong and left Lillie in an unstable state which means that she does not remember anything when in her Ultra Beast form
    – Furthermore, Lusamine’s organization; Aether Foundation “saves” Pokemon from the “evil” organization Team Skull and then experiments on these Pokemon under the vision of Lusamine
    – Their first successful creation was Type: Null, but upon learning about the secrets of the Aether Foundation, Gladion escapes with the knowledge of his sister being one of the Ultra Beasts everyone fears and Type: Null

Also I think I should point out that Type:Null is a dog. Maybe some connection to Zygare 10%?

    • I don’t like the theory of lillie and UB-01 being one and the same. Seems way too obvious. And why would they label it with a number? I doubt there are other characters out there who can “turn into” pokemon. I think they added the “01” part because there are going to be more of them out there in the game/post game. I think this one just shares a connection with Lillie but it would be too weird if it was her.

      Reply
        • I just can’t see them all being the result of human experimentation. I think it’s more likely this one resembles Lillie for a different reason

          Reply
          • I don’t think any of them are experiments. I think they’re the equivalent of pokemon from another dimension. Hence why GF went to the trouble of making the delta episode in ORAS discuss alternate realities.

My explanation of it resembling Lillie is just that it took a liking to her form and copied it, just like how Ditto can copy objects and Zoroark can pretend to be other people or pokemon. Or at a strecth, how Mimikyu desparately wants to look like Pikachu so people will love it.

Might have even been a newly born creature imprinting on what it perceived to be its parent.

          • The it has some sort of connection to Lillie so it takes on her appearance type thing. Like maybe she was the first human it made contact with so they share something. The dimension part could work into that.

          • Yeah, I think it seems more plausible than all the strange theories stating they’re the same entity.

I’ll admit at first I thought it might be like a missing piece of Lillie and they two were actually two halves of one entity because that plot’s been done in other games.

The imprinting and other dimension thing just feels much more “Pokemon” to me. We’ve seen Pokemon imprint, we’ve seen them take human form and we’ve seen an alternate dimension before (Giratina), so it’s pretty much a case of Occam’s Razor – the fewest new assumptions.

  150. When the plot twist is not actually the Aether Foundation being evil, but they’re all capable of becoming Ultra Beasts and their main goal is to obtain the Philosopher’s Stone which requires synergy or energy emitted by Pokemon and Lucamine devised the Island Challenge to collect synergy from Pokemon and slowly, but surely every Pokemon in the Alola region begins to “die off” and the only way to save them is by reviving Lunala or Solgaleo to try and stop Lucamine… o_0 Okay, I’m done with these conspiracy theories.

  151. Joe Merrick at it again, he’s spot on.
”Remember in Black and White, when N was revealed a lot of people came up with theories that he was in fact Zoroark”

Basically he’s saying that we dont need to give in on the Lillie is UB-01 speculation. GF might just be misleading us like with N.

    Reply
    • Ok….ok, but this is completely different. Sure both N and Zoroark were mysterious and had some kind of connection, but I’d say Lillie and UB-01 are too on the nose to be separate entities. N doesn’t look like Zoroark other than having a ponytail. Lillie is a dead ringer for UB-01. It’s just too close for them not ot be completely related/ the same thing. lol

      Reply
      • Occam’s razor my friend. If UB-01 and lillie looks very similar, and 01 has the ability to shapeshift to some degree, wouldn’t the most logical answer be that 01 changed itself to look like Lillie? I mean that’s ignoring all the plot holes and logical gaps that come up with saying Lillie is 01, or its her sister or some junk like that, but really.

        Reply
        • Well sure I guess……but I prefer her being 01….lol Both things make sense either way. It’s not like it would be too wild a thing for her to turn into 01. lol

          Reply
          • ehh, yes and no. The main issue is that whole first sentence saying that 01 is basically a jellyfish, in the sense that it has basic survival skills, but has no real ability to think or feel. That kind of creates a problem as that would me it shouldn’t be able to serve as professor kukui’s assistant since it wouldn’t be able to function as a proper human, much less communicate with anyone or anything. Nor would it have an opinion on battling pokemon since it has no emotions and thus can’t feel bad, and that was a major part of Lillie’s character.

          • The website says that “no one knows” for sure if they have a will/emotions of their own. That to me means that it having a consciousness of its own is not out of the realm of possibility. If they straight up said that they didn’t then it’d be a different situation, but they leave it up in the air so it really comes down to opinion until they say otherwise.

          • I guess, but honestly it seems highly unlikely given this things has likely been heavily studied at the point we see it. But its best for us to wait and see. Honestly at this point, no matter the answer; its going to be something special.

          • Oh yeah definitely. I honestly didn’t see them throwing a whole other plot element at us like this. It adds a whole other level to the games.

      • But the website mentions multiple beasts and that each are called by a code name. If it’s an accident that this was created (Lillie fusion or whatever), why would there be a bunch of them?

        Reply
        • Never said it was an accident. It’s possible 01 wanted to hide and decided to disguise itself as a human.I would assume that the UB’s are not as threatening as they want us to believe and that AF created them/brought them into the known world. Under the assumption that AF IS in deed the true evil in the games that would mean that the UB’s would want to escape them right? Hiding is a good way to get away from people chasing you. lol

          Reply
          • That’s a fair thing to say. It’s one of those things where people are going to stick to what they believe and no one is really “correct” until the source tells us what’s going on lol

          • Only a little over two months. November is about to be Litten like a kitten. First Doctor Strange, then Fantastic Beasts and S/M on the same day, and then Moana! Woo!

    • Or we could just ignore party pooping Joe and have fun with theories since it’s a kids game. Or at least it used to be.

    • They literally say they want to steal pokemon and sell them. If you’re just trying to rebel against Aether, why are you thieving? I think there’s obviously going to be some sort of connection/plot twist between the two, but Team Skull definitely aren’t secretly saints. They’re using experimented pokemon too.

In the end they aren’t bad people per say as they’d still stand up to those who’d do REAL evil, but act out a bunch on the regular lol

  154. My theory is that UB01 is a being form another universe/dimension seeking help and is capable of synchronizing like ash greninja and takes a similar form of Lillie. Due to them being friends. Lillie being the pacifist, understands the situation these UB’s are in and want to help them and is sneaking them around, like in her bag, as seen in the e3 demo. It would be almost like an ET movie, the alien(UB) is friendly and in need of help, but the government(team skull/Aether) sees it as a threat so a bunch of kids(protagonists) help it in whatever way it needs.

Lets see we have the Trial in general, confrontations with Team Skull, interactions/confrontations with the Aether Foundation, the whole Zygarde side quest(?), plus whatever the end goal with the two legends are! That’s a lot of plot to fit into a Pokemon game. On top of all that the games look amazing despite still being on the 3DS. I can feel these are gonna be great games. lol

      1. No, their a different species.
      2. Not likely. You can’t catch humans
      3. given the 01 name and the text on the site saying their are multiple ones, yes.
      4. No, not likely. It seems most likely that 01 simply chooses to look similar to Lillie. Like maybe Lillie’s its friend or something. So they’ll likely be something entirely different in the future.

      • We still don’t know why humans can’t be captured by pokeballs.

My theory about UB-01 looking like Lillie is either
        A) It just likes her and/or wants to be like her
        B) It’s young and somehow imprinted on Lillie

        Reply
        • We’ll if we were to Occam’s razor it, the simple answer would be that humans and pokemon are completely different species. Like Humans have no genetic connection with pokemon what so ever, which would fall in line with the hoopa portal theory, but that’s really arguing obscure pokemon lore that really can’t be proven or disproven.

    • My guesses: Not pokemon, uncatchable, no typeing or if it does have a type, Psychic (or fairy if it is some kind of spirit), there is only one UB-01 but there are other kinds similar to it. Just not the same shape or powers and not all of them resemble Lillie.

She said that “Even Pokemon from DISTANT WORLDS FAR FROM THE ALOLA REGION, are worthy of my love.” So yeah my best bet is that they will allow you to transfer your Pokemon from those gen 1 games through Pokebank, and onto the Sun and Moon game.

Sabrina, Caitlin and Olympia are psychics that belives that beauty is the mind itself. Clair, Karen, Malva are rough girls. Winona doesnt scream glamour. Iris just got a makeover but she is still the feisty gym leader. Cynhia is just a powerhouse. Glacia is just old, there is no glamour there. I will give you Elesa and Fantina

          • Sabrina wears super chunky wristbands that just scream for attention.
Caitlin has way too much well brushed hair to not be vain.
Olympia wears a cape. Only the vain wear capes. Hence Clair, Lance and Wallace.
Karen stands there with her bellybutton exposed and her hand being run through her hair.
Winona has wings on her hat, that is just begging for attention.
Iris could have just worn her usual gear, it was good enough for blue. But no, she chose to wear the fanciest dress she could find.
Cynthia wears a fur collar and hair clips that serve no purpose other than glamour.
Glacia wears thick eyeshadow, and being old doesn’t make you not glamourous.

  172. What if…and this is a big IF…UB-01 comes from the Distortion World, or one of the Time or Space dimensions from Diamond/Pearl? A big part of the lore with those legendaries was there existence in another dimension, much like the Japanese trailer shows for UB-01. Now, imagine a remake for D/P that takes place well after Sun/Moon, when they have more knowledge of these Ultra Beasts and how to access their dimension? I’m suggesting that we could visit the Distortion World or one of the two Space or Time dimensions to catch Ultra Beasts. This may be one of the craziest theories I’ve ever typed, but hey, the Sinnoh references are undeniable. This could be another stealthy hint towards that.

  175. Tl;DR Japanese translations 🙂
Hey, I dunno if someone’s already done this already, but es time for my semi-translation of the Japanese dialogue

in the 1st trailer (not the live-action one) Keep in mind that these are not official translations and someone

might translate them differently/more correctly. Sorry for the long post! And sorry it’s on the late side, I had

classes and I started this a few hours after the videos went up. (By now, probably better translations are up but whatev)

1st up is the employees 🙂
1st scene in building – “In the Aether Foundation, we offer protection to hurt Pokemon.”
2nd scene in cave – This one was hard, but I think it’s “So the cause of the Diglett rampage was likely the work of

Team Skull” (Diguda is the Japanese name for Diglett, so Diglett confirmed to be in SM)
3rd scene with Slowpoke – “Thank you, you really helped us there!” followed by “I’m glad you were there for me, so

    good luck with island hopping!”

    Now onto Faba
1st scene with closeup – “No, no, no, it’s rude of me to offer a late greeting” (Japanese lesson, iya iya iya is

used as a humble response. For example “Oh you did so well on your test, you are so smart” “iya iya iya, I just

studied a lot”, bearing that in mind, my translation might be off but the meaning is there) “I am Faba” (or some

    variation of that)
2nd scene, with Hau and player – “Come on, our two best guests! You are in the Aether Paradise”
3rd scene with closeup arm moving – “Like Akara?, I feel the same about Pokemon protection, so I’m going to appeal

to the president.” (I’ve tried looking up Akara, but can’t find anything. Maybe a future character?)

    Wicke time 😀
    1s scene, closeup – “Welcome, Sun-san, Hau-san. I am Wicke.”
2nd scene, closeup but near an exit – This one is the hardest for me so far, I think she’s talking about ideas, and

talking about you being a Trainer. Need a second opinion on this one
3rd scene, closeup near railing – “You guy’s island hopping is a wonderful idea”

    Now onto Lusamine 😀
1st scene, closeup outside – “I am president Lusamine.” (watakushi, to keep in mind, is a very formal and polite

version of the pronoun watashi, or I) “I’m glad to meet you”
    Hau’s response – “Lusamine-san, I’m amazed you’re so young!”
Lusamine’s response – She’s kind of exasperated with Hau :3
2nd scene with Hau in the background – “Poor thing…”
3rd scene with Wicke – “I am protecting all beloved Pokemon and see to their safety.”

    Sina and Dexio’s dialogue :3
    1st scene Dexio – “I am Dexio.”
Sina – “And this beautiful lady’s lovely name is Sina.”
It’s followed by the 5 people dialogue and the giving of the Zygarde item dialogue from the English stuff

    Now onto Gladion 🙂
1st scene before full face is seen – This was also hard, but I think it’s something like “If I was seen even lightly,

    I was, at best, noisy.”
THen he introduces himself when you see his face followed by
“In order to train my buddy Null (Type: Null) we/it will continue to fight!”
Then (which is incomplete from what I see, since it ends so weirdly) something about now Team Skull will hire

bodyguards or have bodyguards. It’s super weird to me, hardest to translate yet. Definitely needs a second opinion.
Scene with pose (once again uncomplete since it changes scene) – “Hmph, what you want? I-”

    And end 🙂

    Reply
      • Ah, forgot about that, thanks 🙂 Bearing that in mind, he’s probably talking about another island saying ‘Like Akara, its Pokemon are in need of protection, so I will appeal to our president (aka Lusamine)’

    • “Thank you, you really helped us there!” followed by “I’m glad you were there for me, so

This pretty much confirms that the artificial island will be visited straight after Melemele and before any other island, so I think it might serve as a sort of hub world.

I’m hoping to focus on identifying as many locations as possible before working on the list of pokemon that have been proven to be in game.

I’m beginning to realise we’ve actually been shown a lot more than anyone realises, but nobody has tried to put it together like this yet, so hopefully once it’s together, things are going to make more sense and people will start spotting more patterns.

  180. The Aether Foundation is like a badass crossover between Team Plasma and Team Flare. I’m really loving them, but it’s inevitable that they’re the true antagonists.

      • But they’re there to heal Pokemon. Maybe it’s supposed to be GAMEFREAK changing things up, there aren’t 2 evil teams as people were begging for, but a good evil team to make the possibility of a ten year stopping an entire organisation capable of manipulating legendary Pokemon more plausible and realistic. Also, it’s surprising. Lillie looks like a relative though, but now we know she’s a jelly fish

        Reply
        • Not 100 percent on the jellyfish theory though. We don’t know the true reason they exist is to heal pokemon yet. It might be to get DNA from as many different pokemon as possible for a single weapon

    • Could be, it’s always a possibility.
I blame me leaning towards ‘evil’ due to the good amount of books I’ve read that like to do this fake-out thing where the antagonist is actually good and the good guy is bad. It’s kind of been conditioned into me.
Or, it can be both. Like they are ‘grey’, what they do is bad and evil, but their reasons and the people are good. Like they think they are in the right and are good. It’s reflective of real life, there’s no true ‘evil’, only people seen as good or evil due to different perspectives.

I’m predicting that Lillie’s secret is her ability to summon Ultra Beasts (the Pokemon equivalent of psychic communication and astral projection to interact with aliens). Maybe she became a friend or owner of UB-01 and tried to emulate her physical form as best as it could?

  183. I think some people pointed out the Mega Rings on Dexio and Sina’s arms. If they really are coming back, we sure have a ton of new mechanics in S/M:
Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Alola Forms, these Ultra Beasts, Rockruff’s multiple evolutions, the starters’ supposed day/night evolutions, whatever the secret behind Type: Null is… These recent reveals have me very excited!

  184. So here’s a thing. So let’s say that demo that was rated really does get released to the public like the ORAS one did. Which version do they give you? With the whole day and night system being different that would mean there’d have to be two demos of sorts. I wonder if the rated of the trial version was meant for two technically as they are basically the same game or if it was specifically for one version….could be interesting lol

      • Lmao seriously. I never use regional rats past the second gym anyway so I don’t care but it is funny looking but I love it’s dark typing

Just not as excited for dark Persian anymore. It’s basically just going to look like normal Persian except black.

I wish they would get more creative with the Allan forms like they did with raichu and marowack

  185. so Aether being the main evil team could explain why Guzma has a very short opening intro to his battle similar to a ordinary NPC (look at e3). seems like most Major NPC battles have a longer animation then that like Hau and Gladion.

  186. So I just watched the live action Japanese trailer again. Something caught me as interesting. At the end it showed a bunch of Pokemon using Z moves and then right at the very end it showed both Solgaleo and Lunala using their special moves. Are they perhaps Z movies after all instead of regular moves? Wasn’t there a rumor/leak about this? Would also explain why the animations seem so much more…well animated than the typical moves shown.

  187. The way time works in Pokémon Sun & Pokémon Moon is cool and all, but what the hell does it look like for a 10 year old to be always out at night time in the Moon version?? Guess your Pokémon Moon protagonist is a rebel… unless you tend to be a night owl, which ironically will have you usually experiencing Moon’s daytime rather than the intended nighttime. I want Pokémon Moon (along with that lovely, gorgeous, magnificent, marvelous, majestic, regal, sexy sexy, glamorous… Galaxy Style New 3DS XL), but having my young protagonist roaming around at night in this region he just moved to is a little… I dunno. You know what I mean, right? Right??

  188. OH!!! Idk if anyone else caught this, but I saw someone on VP point out that there seems to be the ability to gift Pokemon now. When Shohei tries to apologize to Hoku it looks like Hoku gets a notification from Shohei and he suddenly gets a Minior! That could be pretty cool lol

      • I think we did see some sort of animation that looked like a pokemon being received as a present with the event munchlax. So hopefully it’s a bit more expanded. It would be a fun feature if you could just give people pokemon with no return trade required. It could make for some interesting nuzlocks, streams, and lets plays.

  191. So….I have to think:
In terms of people saying that “Normal Arcanine has been shown already! It’s not getting an Alola Form”, we honestly can’t know that for certain.
In all truthfulness, I wouldn’t at all put it past Game Freak to outright trick/troll us into believing there isn’t one, just to save us from being spoiled before the games come out.
The disclaimer does say that “Game Footage is Not Final”.

Maybe…..just maybe…..there is hope for my water Arcanine….;)

There’s way more evidence to suggest Allan arcanine is a dub and you’re still trying to put together whatever evidence you can to make your self believe there’s still a chance, even though gamefreak hasn’t been subtle with its marketing at all this time around. they have no reason at this point to hide anything besides Starter evos and intricate story details. Everything else they’ve been busting wide open

      • Its not reaching when most of the Chinese leaks have been so far the truth. Its listed on the shit as Pokemon seen in Alola, but you’ve do have a regular Meowth and a Alolan Meowth in the game. Its been shown in the game not all trainers are Alolan. Its also alpha footage being used. We’ve rarely fine wild pokemon that used stone evolutions in game. I think the only exception is Starmie and Cloyster from fishing. They either can’t be found or very very rare. They may have done that just for sake of footage? Its not reaching. Because we don’t know.

  192. So, Type: Null’s mask heavily resembles the symbol around Arceus. Also Null’s website describtion says that ”it was used on a certain mission, to rival the power of that of Pokemon often spoken of in mythology”

Could it be that Null was supposed to be Aether’s version of Arceus, but the experiment failed and this is the result?

    Reply
    • It’d be interesting if they actually mentioned Arceus in the game, which I don’t think they’ve ever done. That would also make sense considering Arceus can be any type and it seems Type:Null looks like it was created to be multi-typed perhaps.

    • WAIT…….I think you may be on to something here…..

What physical features do we see on Null?
-A watery type fin for a tail
-Hind legs that resemble a feline
-Front legs that resemble bird talons
      -And a canine head

WOW……there really may be something to this….

      • You guys are seriously reaching. Nulls tail is obviously aquatic but doesn’t look anything like poplio. Poplio doesn’t have a wide fine like tail. Also its hind legs are so clearly insectoid, even a child can see that. 194. Guys, realistically speaking – in terms of what Game Freak has done in the past – what do y’all think is the deal with the Ultra Beasts? Do you think they’ll be catchable? Or will they be some sort of separate beings that serve another purpose? Will they be present in future games?

    Reply
    • I dont think they will be catchable. I think they serve as new foes you can battle maybe? UB-01 isn’t a Pokemon, so it would be weird if you can catch it.

      • One thing is true: Ultra Beasts are one of the weidest / unique things Game Freak has ever introduce to the series; I’m looking forward to know how they all connect to the story, because, at this point, I was almost forgetting who the legendaries of the game were ?

        Reply
      • Well, if the Aether employees are to appear in future games, I suppose the Aether Foundation can’t be the “secret” villains in this game, unless they become usual villains in the series. (I do think they’re a little suspicious, though)

    • Okay, I know it’s been said already but I think UB-01 has something to do with Lillie. But Lillie does look like Gladeon and Lusamine. What if they’re all Ultra Beasts? There is also something living in Lillie’s bag… Just a thought.

      Reply
      • That’s a great idea, I do think those 3 are connected, but it’s just hard to imagine that Game Freak would introduce a new race of beings that resemble humans but can turn into pokemon-like creatures in the series; it’s very, very random.

        • Same, it’s a very we’ll put together and thought out theory. It was missing some pieces to me at first, (yes I know part 3 isn’t finished but I meant evidence was missing from part 1 & 2), but with this latest trailer introducing; Type:Null (a chimera), the Aether Foundation (Aether is very important to his theory), and Ultra beasts I simply can’t ignore how accurate it is any longer.

Especially with the Aether Foundation thing! Like they could have chosen ANY OTHER NAME TO CALL THEM. They chose aether… There be a reason

          Reply
    • Always a fun theory, but an illogical theory all the same. Don’t get me wrong, its well made, but the issues of theories like this is that it tries to blind you with evidence that seems to make sense to come to the conclusion that something that seems so absurd is certainly possible. The problem though is that the conclusion here is virtually impossible.

Pokemon is a series that is virtually impossible to reboot. You can’t reboot the actual number of pokemon since every pokemon has its fan’s and people would be uset if you cut them out forever. You can’t really reboot the story given every game already does that. Every game, even X&Y, wrap up their story very well. The bad guys are defeated, the champion is beaten, and the day is saved thanks to a 10 year old. Certainly their might be some threads left hanging, but those are usually explored in future games, or completely ignored as being unimportant. The most reference the other games get is usually a small cameo by previous characters, which usually adds nothing to the story.

Heck, that’s even ignoring that technically every generation is a reboot in a sense that its likely taking place in a different universe then the previous one due to the change of mechanics, which is why the remakes always redesign characters to look similar, but different then their original counterparts. The most obvious of these being gen 6 that outright brings up the idea of having multiple universes in ORAS.

Honestly this is a well made theory, but again it seems to ignore the basic issues of this idea and if I may be a bit callus, comes across more as someone saying that pokemon is to complicated now and wants it to return to a more simplified form, which it isn’t. Theories about the end of pokemon, or a reboot of pokemon come out every generation. From 6 gen having the beginning and the end with oras, to X&Y having the pokemon of like and death, to black and white being the first time the games didn’t take place in Japan, to Gen 4 with cyrus wanting to recreate the universe, to probably something really random in gen 3. People will see what they want to see to support their arguments that the end is coming, and make some pretty impressive arguments for it. But more times then not people are chasing nothing more then shadows as they lead themselves further and further from the truth. Or as Blizzard put it with their ARG going on right now “why are you staring to the stars, when you should be looking behind you?”. Don’t lose focus and start chasing shadows, but stay determined that the real answers are out there.

      Also sorry for the essay.

      • I feel you on everything here besides your inclination to believe pokemon is impossible to reboot. “In serial fiction, to reboot means to discard all continuity in an established series in order to recreate its characters, timeline and backstory from the beginning. The term is used with respect to various different forms of fictional media such as comic books, television series, video games, and films” -Wikipedia. A pokemon reboot would not have to “get rid of all the current pokemon, just start from the beginning and could possibly reimagine them with slight differences.
Also with specific reference to pokemon, a reboot could also change the basic mechanics and introduce or “reimagine” pokemon with new ones. Like an active or real time battle system for example. Pokemon can indeed be rebooted.

        Reply
        • yes, but that’s not really the implication, at least how I took the video. Pokemon can change up is mechanics at any time. It however usually leaves that to spinoff games while building off the formula that has lasted for 20 years. Again there’s no need to reset things if they wanted to try a new battle system. Heck Yokai-watch, their main competition in Japan, completely redesigned their battle system for their newest game and its generally been seen as a huge improvement to the series. As well, while redesigning some pokemon really doesn’t work anymore given the Alolan forms. If they waned to redesign old pokemon or make small changes, they can now simply create a region variant of the pokemon, and thus they have no incentive to alter any old content. Simply they can have their cake and eat it.

          Reply
          • This is Nintendo and Gamefreak we’re talking about tho… Do they really need incentive?

Also that can work with Yokai Watch because it isn’t a 20 year old franchise with die hard fans. Also with only two games under its belt, changing its battle system from the first to second game is more of a “trying to see what works best for our franchise” and less “switching up a tried and true formula”.

My point isn’t that they are going to reboot. It is that they can. And personally I wouldn’t mind.

          • Do they really need incentive? Yeah, they really do, especially if you look at their comments in recent years. They’ve pretty much admitted that they try to keep certain franchises following a status quo, while allowing for others and spinoff to act as experiments. Its why we haven’t had a proper paper mario rpg since the gamecube; because they’ve openly said that the Mario and Luigi series is their new mario rpg. Or why Star fox zero was yet another remake of the first star fox game, but had a small spinoff game to experiment with mechanics. Nintendo in recent years is really trying to play things on the safer side and it doesn’t seem like they would do anything major to rock the good boat of one of their biggest sources of revenue.

As for Yokai Watch, yes and no. Technically they have 4 games if you don’t count different versions, and if you do it goes up to 7, eight if you count the mobile game. The series though has been around since 2013, so yeah it is relatively new still. At the same time though they made a game that basically a ghost busters parody, so who knows what’s really going through their head.

And yeah I’ll agree that they CAN reboot, but I simply mean it doesn’t seem to make much sense for them. Any benefit of rebooting seems to have already been achieved by something they have introduced, like Alolan forms, and the need to rewrite certain plots seems unnecessary as past games are barely mentioned and as shown with ORAS; they can easily rewrite entire parts of past games with remakes, saying it took place in another universe. Really I don’t care, but I just like to bring up that these kinds of theories are a dime a dozen every generation, and seem to eventually devolve from speculation of they could be doing it, to assuming that this is all hard confirmation that the series is being rebooted. But I digress. And again you did bring up some good points.

          • Their stances have seemingly changed then as they have openly stated that for the BOTW and the next Mario they are bucking series conventions and trends and essentially going back to basics to create something new.

If they are willing to do that with two of their longest running and most storied franchises I don’t see them not giving pokemon the same treatment. But in all honesty it’s not really that deep. I’d appreciate a really big mix up after playing the same formula (broken or not) for 20 years. Others wouldn’t.
I just don’t want gamefreak to be tied down to tradition and convention because fans fear a big change

          • yeah a rebooted pokemon game cnan work, look at the remakes and some can say pokemon had a soft reboot with the 4th /5th gen. but there villians seem to be more of the same really.

  195. So… if what they say about these Ultra Beasts is true, and if Lillie is one.

Then could that mean any other person might be one.
