7/19 Pokémon Sun & Moon Update

Just under three weeks since the last Pokémon Company reveal, we’re getting another Pokémon Sun & Moon update today! We’re not entirely sure what to expect, though we could see the two new Pokémon revealed in Corocoro make an appearance and maybe more!

A new trailer has been released in both English and Japanese!

New Details and Information

Pokémon

  • Bounsweet the Grass type Pokémon
  • Bewear Normal/Fighting type, can have the new Fluffy Ability that halves the damage taken from attacks that make direct contact, but in return it also doubles the damage taken from Fire-type moves
  • Comfey a Fairy type Pokémon that can have the Triage ability which means this Pokémon’s restorative moves gain the highest priority in battle
  • Mudsdale a Ground type horse Pokémon. Mudsdale can have the new Stamina Ability which means the Pokémon’s Defense goes up by 1 when it’s hit by an attack
  • Wimpod is a Water/Bug type Pokémon that has the Wimp Out ability; upon reaching 50% HP it will run away or switch with another Pokémon during battle!
  • Mimikyu is a Ghost/Fairy type Pokémon with the new ability Disguise; upon entering battle its disguise will take the first attack for it (no confirmation whether this is affected by contact hits or not)

Game Mechanics

  • Pokémon can now access ‘Hyper Training’ which allows for IVs to be raised for the first time ever. This is accessible at level 100 and uses ‘bottle caps’. No word if you can transfer them over from Fallout.
  • You can now host tournaments on the Global Link!

  1. Hey all I’m new here! Anyway this is cool, normally GameFreak releases info very slowly but it seems this time they are fluently revealing details. Like this is cool, I mean August hasn’t even started yet and we have more info. I sure hope we get a good Ground and Dragon type this gen too!

      • Looks cute, but I’ll wait till this gen is out. I heard something about a rumor from China that stated that there are no gyms but someone over at the Pokebeach forums said it was a mistranslation and he actually meant there were no gyms confirmed yet. I want to think maybe those cool platforms that we saw on the map with thoselight pillars are the gyms and we have no official gym areas but still have gym like battles. Its a hunch but maybe thats what the guy ment by “no gyms” as in we have no ohysical gym(s). And also tha ks for the info on the new mons, especially that Care Bear one haha!

          • *Gets hit but is not huet, but the shovel is besnt in my head* I think you forgot that I was trained by the mighty guy who is just a superhero for fun, Saitama!

          • Nah it was a joke meaning he took you under his wing to making another Weilder of Earth taking on all challenges! But it was a joke about that we do jokes here a lot.

          • That’s not what I said, I’m trying to inflict harm onto a completely innocent person

      • Also I’m glad I FINALLY met someone who is a fan of Rhyperior and doesn’t bash on it for its weaknesses (from the icon if you are curious).

  7. Draft Horse Pokémon
    TYPE Ground
    HEIGHT 8′02″
    WEIGHT 2028.3 lbs.
    ABILITY Own Tempo / Stamina
Mudsdale is known for its powerful body as well as its emotional fortitude, which keeps it from being agitated by anything. It never cries out, no matter what kind of trouble it’s in, and it defeats its opponents with a single powerful blow. Its legs are coated in protective mud, and the weight of this coating increases the force of its kicks. One kick, and a car is a pile of scrap!

Mudsdale’s running speed is not too swift, but it has excellent power and stamina. It can carry on for three days and three nights despite dragging loads of over 10 tons!

When Mudsdale gallops in earnest, the power of each hoof-clop can dig out huge holes, even in asphalt. Mudsdale is forbidden to run on some of Alola’s public roads.

Mudsdale can have the new Stamina Ability, an Ability that no other Pokémon has had before. With the Stamina Ability, this Pokémon’s Defense goes up by 1 when it’s hit by an attack.

  8. Mimikyu

    CATEGORY Disguise Pokémon
    TYPE Ghost/Fairy
    HEIGHT 0’08”
    WEIGHT 1.5 lbs.
    ABILITY Disguise
Mimikyu lives its life completely covered by its cloth and is always hidden. People believe that anybody who sees its true form beneath the cloth will be stricken with a mysterious illness. People in the Alola region are convinced that you must never try to peek beneath its covering. Mimikyu’s health fails when it’s bathed in the rays of the sun, so it prefers to stick to dark places. It’s rumored that the reason it covers itself with a cloth is to avoid sunlight.

The rising popularity of Pikachu-styled merchandise around 20 years ago is the reason that Mimikyu makes itself look like Pikachu. In fact, this Pokémon is dreadfully lonely, and it thought it would be able to make friends with humans if only it looked like Pikachu.

Mimikyu has the Disguise Ability, a new Ability that no Pokémon has ever before possessed. The Disguise Ability allows it to escape damage from an enemy’s attack just one time, and then its appearance changes.

  10. I’m glad we got new Pokemon, but, um, I hate them. No other way to put it. How is a flower Pokemon not grass? It’s Florges all over again. The horseshoe crab looks alright, but the horse and the tomato thing look dumb. One thing I am thankful for its that they kept Mimikyu’s name mostly.

  11. LOVE THEM!!! lol I’m even more in love with Bewear than I was when I first saw it hahahaha Also Whimpod is gonna have to be a Pokemon you catch without hurting it. Otherwise it’ll just keep running away lol

    Reply
  12. Bewear

    CATEGORY Strong Arm Pokémon
    TYPE Normal/Fighting
    HEIGHT 6’11”
    WEIGHT 297.6 lbs.
    ABILITY Fluffy/Klutz
When Bewear is acting in a friendly fashion, just swinging its arms around, you must never dare to approach it carelessly. It is acknowledged to be a dangerous Pokémon, even within the Alola region. You may see warning signs posted near places it resides.

When Bewear grows fond of its Trainer, it may show that feeling in a fond embrace—but the force of that hug is tremendous! Trainers must teach these Pokémon how to restrain their strength when showing affection.

Bewear may have the Fluffy Ability, a new Ability that no Pokémon has ever possessed before. The Fluffy Ability halves the damage taken from attacks that make direct contact, but in return it also doubles the damage taken from Fire-type moves.

    Wimpod

    CATEGORY Turn Tail Pokémon
    TYPE Bug/Water
    HEIGHT 1′08″
    WEIGHT 26.5 lbs.
    ABILITY Wimp Out
Wimpod have a cowardly nature and are wary of noises and sudden movements. If you approach them in a group, they’ll immediately run off. When Wimpod feel threatened, they spit out a poisonous liquid. The stench of this toxic fluid signals others that danger is near. Despite their extreme cowardice, their curiosity leads Wimpod to approach people or Pokémon that are standing still.

Wimpod eat and store anything that they find fallen on the ground. They also scavenge any garbage that’s been dropped in the sea, so they’re highly valued as cleaners. They sometimes carry pearls or other valuable items, so humans or Pokémon like Murkrow may target them.

Wimpod has the new Wimp Out Ability, an Ability that no other Pokémon has had before. With the Wimp Out Ability, if this Pokémon’s HP drops below half in battle, it will run away or swap out for another Pokémon.

  18. Evo bets:

Whimpod: either no evos or one evo. More likely one evo.

    Comfey: no evos (like klefki)

Mudsdale: looks complete, maybe a prevo.

    Bewear: no evos.

Mimikyu: no evos. Too gimmicky (like smeargle)

    Bounsweet: one evos (think cottonee)

    Rockruff: one evo.

    Komala: one evo. Or none.

Drampa: maybe a prevo. More than likely a standalone based on its dex entry.

    Bruxish: no evos (think corsola).

    Salandit: one or two evos.

Personally, I love this gen. While I’ve compared these new mons to old ones, none seem to be directly referencing past Pokemon… Like gen 5 did! And I really like that creativity!

    • I imagine it’s the type of thing where we can super train anywhere, but to give our Pokemon that extra boost in Hyper training we have to go to this shop. lol

      Reply
  19. OK so we have 25 brand new Pokemon and it’s only been a few month. There better be a hell of a lot of Pokemon in these games for us to discover because if they keep going at this rate we are gonna know about a LOT of them by the release of the games lol

  21. This whole raising IVs makes me very unhappy. IVs and supposed to be hidden and set from hatching like genetics. We can’t change genetics so I don’t like how we can change IVs.

    Reply
    • Yeah, I agree. I was already slightly disconcerted by super training making EV’s more transparent, but at least that was only making an inconvenient process into a more convenient one. IV’s are supposed to be INDIVIDUAL values, making each pokemon unique, and this only defeats the purpose of it 🙁

      Reply
      • Exactly. This just makes Legendaries even more OP. Imagine a 6IV Mega Rayquaza. This new mechanic is supposed to draw more players into the mets game but it might break it so horribly.

        Reply
        • Well, considering that if IV modification IS possible, basically ALL pokemon will be 6IV, that will prolly level out the metagame… but I’m not very informed in that area so I dunno… I’m more pissed about what it means in the narrative sense, but yeah. >:(

          Reply
          • I agree, it will level out the metagame and everyone will have the same stats right now, meaning it only takes skill and luck to win, not stats.

The only thing that we need to soft reset for in legends is nature now.

Of course breeding probably still saves time compared to collecting Bottle Caps for the breedables.

          • I hope bottle caps cost BP, but a lot like the ability capsule. Make them costly like the ability capsule and only raise 1 IV by 1 or 2, and I’m fine with it, but I have a feeling that they won’t be that rare.

        • I don’t know why you guys are complaining about this considering basically every pokémon in the metagame has 31 IVS anyway. The only différence is that we won’t need to waste hours trying to get the right ivs

          Reply
      • Still, would you take a pet or something and gene splice it to make it better because what it is isn’t good enough? The concept bothers me, but what it could do to the metagame bothers me even more.

        Reply
        • Genetics work in weird ways. Your genes actually naturally splice when your cells replicate. Epigenetics is how your environment affects the protein bound to your DNA. Certain genes may activate if your environment (toxicity in the air, climate, diet, etc) alters the protein on a particular gene.

I understand the manipulation part as being unethical, in a Pokémon sense. For example, look at hyper training as changing a Pokémon’s diet and super training as what they do physically

  22. My thoughts:
WIMPOD: Yes! A horseshoe crab (/isopod)
    BOUNSWEET: a mangosteen?
COMFEY: I like it’s design, very Hawaiian, but it’s just Flabebe all over again. WHERE’S THE GRASS TYPE.
    MUDSDALE: Hey! A ground type!
    BEWEAR: I like the name.

    Reply
  23. I already just thought of what Mudsdale’s niche is… to kick Klefki’s ass in Anything Goes!

Own Tempo makes Swagger a bad idea, Ground-type makes it immune to Thunder Wave…

RIP Numel, you will be missed in AG…

  25. I think the reason I don’t like bewear was highlighted in this trailer when it fought pangoro. Bewear looks like a blown up balloon and has no fur besides on its head that adds texture to it. This contrasted with pangoro who has a lot of texture in its design!

  26. so it seems this region will be full with new pokemon, just look we got more than 25 pokemon even we have more than 5 month until the game come out.

    Reply
    • Well we don’t have more than 5 months before the games…….more like 4 at the most….but I agree we do have a lot of Pokemon so far and they either need to slow their roll or have a ton of Pokemon left for us to find in the games lol

  27. I like all the new Pokemon as of now, and it shows that Alola seems to be diverse. Though tbh I’m still amazed we have no gym related info (would love to see a comfirmation if we have gyms, though personally I think we will hut similar to the Orange Islnd Leage or something with them outside platforms all over the place). Also can’t wait to use the new Hyper Training! I wonder if it’ll be part of Super Training?

    Reply
    • I’ve seen people alluding to the Orange Island League a lot. I’ve never watched that part of the anime; what’s so different about that league?

      Reply
      • Well for starters Ash had special rules to follow in battles as opposed to regular gym battles. But some were like a trial or test of your skill. One particular one I fondly remember was Ash facing a leader doing thay sled ride thing which was part of the winter Olympics. I think the sport is called tabagon racing (correct me if I’m wrong). But if they are like that I’m all in for those gyms lol

        Reply
        • That sounds really neat! I’ll have to watch some of that, but I would definitely be alright with having that in-game as well.

          Reply
          • Yeah. Those rumors were worrying me a bit but my mates here reminded me of the Orange Island leage and how Alola seems to be like a reboot of GameFreak’s idea (imagine if it was haha wait……)

          • I love that name, Pandora is so awesome, also is the connie pic for summer of steven? :3

          • That’s crazy, I’ve honestly never watched an SU episode in my life! Though I know that event is happening.

I came in via Attack the Light. So everything I know, it’s from Attack the Light. (Except Connie, I always liked darker-skinned female characters.)

I’m not watching any of the new episodes yet since I plan to start from the top this weekend.

          • Well it’s not like I will need much convincing…

            *imperial march plays*

I always liked darker-skinned female characters. Well Connie ain’t a tomboy (my other kind of favorite female character) but I am fine with that.

  29. Seems that Alola will have more new mons that XY. We already have upwards of twenty, and they are revealing them at such a pace that we have to have a lot of them. Otherwise we wouldn’t get so many so fast.

        • True, it probably got the pod in its name from Isopod. They are from the same class, “Arthropoda” so that might explain it.

          Reply
          • It would be cool, although the water typing makes me think it won’t happen. Unrelated, but we really need some kind of assassin bug pokemon, those things are awesome. It could be Bug/Poison or Bug/Dark with an ability to poison the foe.

          • Yeah it probably won’t happen, but if it did I would definitely have it on my team. As you said, we really need more cool bug types (I’m very happy that we got Vikavolt though). Bug/dark would be such a nice typing.

  37. I know we have had three steel types already.

None are good enough for an ingame team

So I’m hoping for a cool steel type I can use in-game, won’t be too disappointed if I don’t get one though. Can’t really afford another ground weakness on the team anyway.

Granted my Rowlets gonna end up being the saving grace for the rest of my team at this rate. Resisting Waters and Immune to Ground.

    Reply
  38. Also those who think Bounsweet is going to end up a flying type you’re wrong
When running away from other Pokémon, Bounsweet flees danger by skipping along the ground. Since its bouncy movements don’t convey to others that it’s actually in desperate flight, no one ever comes to its aid.

Not flight as in flying more like fight or flight in fear since it’s being chased down

    Reply
  39. I can’t see myself using any of these Pokemon at all. Bewear looks ridiculous next to pangaro and their both bear Pokemon ? I kinda like the horse but it’s kinda over design and basic at the same time. So far my team is KWEEN LITteen, zikavolt and pikiGOD. Hopefully they reveal more water Pokemon and fire Pokemon and dragon Pokemon soon.

  40. I am very happy about Hyper Training, now we will have an alternative for IV breeding, bringing all those “imperfect” Pokemon we have and make them perfect… and now we will be able to see EVs always 🙂

  42. Im loving that abandoned pre-school looking place that you are battling Mimikyu in, in the trailer it seems like the best place for it.
Also isn’t it funny how we have only see evolutions for one pokemon revealed so far, like any one of these pokemon have so much possibility to evolve and that is so exciting

    Reply
    • I hope they save most evolutions for release. I’m curious about new evolution methods; things got pretty interesting with Inkay and Pancham, so I can definitely see some improvement there.

  49. Two comments I have after watching some of the individual Pokemon battle scenes

    1) Vikavolt is still looking boss AF even in another Pokemon’s battle scene lol
    2) As much as I still like the style, I am getting a little worried about the ability markers that pop up. I really like the idea of the paint strokes, but they are too big, too in the middle of the screen, and stay on for too long……

    Reply
    • 1) That was done to show off Wimp Out
      2) I think they are fine, they might not be like that in the final released but just in the trailers, to highlight the different abilities.

      Reply
      • Well yeah I could see them being slightly different in the game, but they are just so big!! If they were smaller or not as in the way then they’d be fine, but it’s just a little jarring lol

    • its flavour text makes it even cuter.

Usually only the first Gym Leader is revealed before the games release.

These abilities, Synchro, and other implementations – with older Pokemon bound to receive some as a second or HA – are going to bring the biggest meta-game change since Mega-Evolution. Hopefully it won’t be the same 12 Pokemon in every team and there’s more diversity since that seems to be the route Pokemon is going for.

They’re giving us glimpses of the many new features available in Sun/Moon and distracting our minds with new batches of Pokemon revealed every month while keeping tight wraps on the story and villainous team. Plus, they’ve only revealed stage one or Pokemon that appear to be standalone, keeping their evolution a secret. Of course there are exceptions such as the Grubbin line and eventually the starters and Mudsdale and Bewear looking as though they have a pre-evolution.

  82. Ooh, i LOVE the new Pokemon!

Not keen on the ability to manipulate IVs. They’re genetics, something the Pokemon is born with, you’re not just supposed to be able to fiddle them later on. I worked really hard to breed all my perfect IV babies. If you can change IVs, what makes them any different to EVs? 🙁

    Reply
    • I don’t see any reason to dislike it. It only introduces new players to the meta.

Maybe they alter the genes or something who knows.

      Reply
      • Lol it’s a game, dude. If they didn’t want to give us the option of breeding for IVs, they wouldn’t have given us the destiny knot.

It’s wonderful. I love breeding because it means that 31 IV special attack Espeon I used back in Platinum? Is now Grandpa to my 31 IV special atk Vaporeon and Sylveon in X and Y.

        Reply
        • Lol. I know, I was just making a point.

But to be fair now they’re giving us the option of changing a Pokemon’s IVs so it’s something they want us to be able to do.

But I understand your point about differentiating them from EVs. What’s next giving us the ability to change a Pokemon’s nature.

          Reply
          • Exactly. I just feel like they have always stressed the idea that each Pokemon is unique…for better or worse. If we can change everything about them after they’re hatched, it takes away from their individuality.

        • And you could also argue that if they want us to increase EV’s by battling certain pokemon then why introduce Super Training?

IV’s simply take too much work. Nobody new to the games wants to walk back and forth breeding Pokemon with decent/perfect IV’s.

          Reply
          • I’m sorry, I just really hate the ‘too much work’ argument. You can apply it to everything. It’s too much work to earn 8 gym badges. It’s too much work to complete the pokedex. It’s too much work to super train. Why play the game at all?

I’ve been breeding for years. Once you’ve done it a few times and have good breeding stock ready to pass down their IVs, it’s not that much ‘work’. It’s fun, and creative. It really makes your adventure feel persona, to start with a team of 6 eggs you personally bred. You don’t have to do it, it’s totally optional. I just feel that for those of us who have done it, and poured hours into it, it’s now being taken away from with this new mechanic.

          • The difference is it’s far too monotonous to super train. You wander back and forth to hatch eggs for hours on end.
That’s not an adventure. It’s not even something that’s slightly entertaining like super training. It’s just walking back and forth.

If you want to keep doing it that’s fine, but again, this only introduces new players to the meta. It’s only really a good thing honestly.

          • Agree to disagree, then 😛 I don’t mind cycling back and forth. You put your iPod on, stick in your headphones, and just go. If you have a Flame Body Pokemon it doesn’t take too long, although I wish they’d bring back the egg nursery from BW2…

My only dislike about these games so far is that I feel the new players are being pandered too, a little too much. For example, the fact that attacks now tell you their effectiveness irks me. This is supposed to be a game of memory and strategy. Telling a player how to win detracts from that. I don’t want to see Pokemon battles turn into Yokai Watch, where the games decides how and when to attack and you just ineffectively poke at the screen now and then to spam a special move, feeling redundant. I hope they make that feature optional. I think of it like training wheels on a bike…it may benefit newbies, but it shouldn’t be forced on those of us who already know what we’re doing.

          • If you already know what you’re doing it shouldn’t really bother you anyway but I agree with the type effectiveness thing.

          • We don’t know the insight of this mechanic. So maybe it will be very hard to obtain 6IV Pokemon throughout hyper training so having already 3-4-5 IVed Pokemon will be advantageous.

Maybe, collecting bottle caps will be very hard.

          • Fun? More like waste of time. Not all us of got the free time to keep breeding. This mechanic makes worthless pokemon usable.

    • I think it’s a good method. The speciality of IV breeding was already diminished after people were obtaining Pokemon throughout illegal methods. So now everybody can have them easily.

Also, it’s also good that after you beat elite four, the Pokemon you caught will not be “useless” as you can get “perfection” out of them while keeping the bond you shared throughout the journey.

If it’s blue and nothing happens, it’s either a bad connection, or you have triggered the soft ban for moving too fast. (To test this, try to catch a Pokemon, if it fails and runs immediately, but is still on the map after a minute or so, then you have triggered this soft ban.)

Sure, Pokemon has a general formula, but it doesn’t have to be followed exactly, and the fanbase doesn’t know the creators’ intentions until they’re officially confirmed. 3 years ago we assumed that Fletchling would stay Normal/Flying because that’s just how it’s always been, but look where that got us.

I’m quite sentimental with my team too, I even give them they’re own lil space in the PC when I’m egg hatching

          • Though bad example
Do you know how many fracking duplicate teams I see on showdown everyday

        • I’m not planing on adding it. I mean I like it, but it wont be on my team. (My mom will probably have it though, she loves all the horse type Pokemon. 😀 I’m going to get a game for my mom to play, because I’m tired of not having anybody, ((That I personally know)) to play the games with.

    What do you guys think?

    Reply
    • What makes you say they’re from the 3rd island? I personally think the place where Wimpod is battled looks like the first island and Salandit is on the third (CCW). But I believe you’re correct about the fourth because we’re getting that island in the next Corocoro, I believe.

      Reply
      • It looked like the area they were battling was part of the 3rd island (except for Wimpod XD) and Salandit was in the group of Pokemon I was talking about. The pokemon that I feel like are on the second island are: the starters (duh lol), the obvious first route pokemon, komala, rockruff, cutiefly, togademaru, and bruxish.

    1. I only use Pokemon from that gen
    2. Always choose grass, fire, water, electric, flying, scapegoat(HM learner mostly normal type)
    3. No type repeats
    4. Almost all have to be 3 stage evos (exceptions are only if gen doesn’t have 3 evo stage Pokemon of a type example gen 3 swellow)

Unfortunately, it’s sometimes swallowed whole by Pokémon drawn to its aroma.

Since its bouncy movements don’t convey to others that it’s actually in desperate flight, no one ever comes to its aid.

When attacked by enemies, it drives them off by rotating the calyx on its head. The downside is how dizzy it gets afterward!

In the past, it felt like they introduced new abilities to cover things, make pokemon stronger and/or for gimmicks. However, for some reason, in this gen I feel like the abilities are directly aimed towards competitive battling. Anyone else get that feeling?

      Reply
        • You must take into account how much of a issue trainers might have with the gym

Just fucking accept the whole bottle cap system isn’t going to be a cheap and easy service to supercharge the IVs of your legends, they’re most likely going to be a expensive process that not everyone is just going to magically accumulate infinite bottle caps for this feature

          Reply
          • I said slim chance. It would probably take hours on end to get one if I would have the pickup thing… or would pickup have the ability to find bottle caps… YES! PICKUP GETS BOTLECAPS! SCREW SOUL HEART

          • Unless you get the low tier pickup scrounge
5% is still a low chance
And Pickup isn’t a guaranteed ability 10% chance after battling
You’d probably have to grind a whole team of lvl 100 Pickups

But I’ll just laugh and laugh when Bottle caps are rare and I’ll be just fine breeding Ivs

          • Well you cannot get the Zapdos or Metagross I need from breeding. I would be fine breeding my Tyranitar, but for Pokemon you can’t breed I will use Hyper Training

          • Once at level 100 with no EV’s, we can easily know the IV’s, so choosing our hidden power is simply targeting for the correct 30/31 stats in hyper training. <3

        • The idiot doesn’t even provide a source for this supposed discussion. I still don’t know what to think of the Chinese rumour. It could be real but it could also be fake. Sure Mimikyu was something you could easily say was gonna happen, but Bewear was not in anyway guessable. At least not easily. I’m not 100% sure all of what is written is true, but considering how things are going I’d say I’m more inclined to believe the Chinese rumors and these by extension than anything else. I’m not a fan of how some people are reacting to these rumors however. It’s one thing to have a opposite view on the subject, but I feel like some people (all over the internet) are just shitting on them just because they don’t like what they say. They could be real and they could be fake, but I wouldn’t mind if people would stop posting their opinions as fact. That’s kind of the down side of the Prerelease season. Without full on proof people forget their manners and it just becomes a shit show…..*sigh* oh well I’m sure at some point we’ll get proof one way or another lol

          • its not stupid everywhere that I have seen the no gyms thing they have make a very good and valid point, its not their fault people don’t have enough thought process or imagination to figure out that there are a million different ways that they could have no gyms and still have amazing games without them being shorter or lacking in content, heck having no gyms could make the game longer if it meant you had to go around challenging various island leaders to create your own gyms and then having them be playable in the post game in any order…. you people need to stop being so afraid of change and use you’re imagination

          • You aren’t even trying to talk about the point that I made that no matter how much stupid asses post their fake ass shit ass rumours and use the same shit ass “info” it doesn’t make them real.

          • are you crazy?… I never once mentioned the other content of the rumours I’m talking purely about the no gym concept being a possibility… I was never involved in whatever narrative you think I was with you, but you can continue on if you insist… -_-

          • “at this point the no gyms thing has been brought up so many times that its not really something that can be dismissed anymore, you have to at least acknowledge that it could happen”

^This is acting like just because a bunch of stupid fucks keep posting it it has any sort of validity. It doesn’t. It is as fake and unlikely as ever. No matter how much it is mentioned it doesn’t magically become any more likely.

          • how about you go back an re-read my first comment and let a little bit of that absorb into your skull… I’m not saying that because a lot of people have brought it up makes it true, I’m saying that the people who have brought it up have made very good cases as to why it could be true and make sense, I assume that if you’re actually reading my whole comments, that you’re not actually getting anything out of what I’m saying, so thats fine, you be you and think what you want, I’m not going to fight with you

          • It doesn’t make any sense and there is one good reason, the only reason needed that is isn’t true but what I am saying is no matter what it isn’t any more or less likely no matter what people say. The only thing that does that is an official statement either 100% confirming or 100% denying.

          • The Internet is free game and these supposed leakers, technically, aren’t doing anything wrong. They’re most likely lying up the wah zoo, but I can’t 100% prove that. I can’t simply pull Masuda and bust a quick vid about the leaks. JUST RELAX. At the end of the day, it’s still a game geared towards children. The competitive aspect is to keep old fans excited.

          • I can’t relax. And it is obvious they are doing nothing wrong I made my own “leaks” too. More to show how retarded it all is but still.

          • So dumb people that make up leaks deserve to die and on part with murderers, rapists, etc? Logic, I see

          • I fail to see how an innocent dumb Internet prank equals the death of a person. Explain the logic please

          • For the record, let’s keep one conversation here (I hate jumping around and I’m on my computer at the lab….waiting)

          • You are so level-headed and calm. I try to be, but it sometimes steers off course a tad bit haha. Teach me your ways

          • Prove it? Don’t type it. Show me actual hard evidence. I don’t want them to be real, but I can’t say their 100% fake. It’s all up in the air at this point.

          • Keys unlock doors is logical but not always true, if the door is locked with only a numerical password

          • It is programmed. No outside tools needed. Your house/apartment (whatever you live in) needs that tool.

          • Yes, because it’s a program. I should really get my brother in this as he’s a computer engineer. But idk how everybody else would feel about “Toodles” making a return. He has matured a lot and I’m proud of him for that, but he left PJ with a sour note soooooo…

          • Oooooo ouch the immaturity (of course I’m guilty as well) is setting in. Weren’t those leakers immature too? I guess we both need to be purged because logic

          • Immaturity is fine so long as the person isn’t stupid. And I don’t see how I am being immature at all. Rather I am being pissed that you can’t get a simple fact through your thick skull.

          • You’re pissed off over something you can’t control. Like really angry about it. I’ve been instigating you this whole time because I thought you would see how dumb it was to be so mad about something so little. I thought you would have noticed. Instead you kept on rambling and grew angrier at a dumb, childish situation. Looks like I failed. I am truly sorry you have such emotions of this magnitude over Pokémon games that it’s affecting you this way.

Of course a password is a key.

          • I don’t need your pity nor sorrow. And I am more inclined to believe you are a moron and actually thought a password wasn’t a key because most people are retarded.

          • Still at it huh? Well, obviously there’s more to your hormone concentrations than what’s going on here. I’m no MD, so there’s nothing I can do there. Give PJ a rest until release date. You see most people as inferior and that’s a toxic way of thinking. Have a good night

          • I need to consume the news so I won’t just leave until the release date. The stupid fucks set the release 4 months away still despite it being done. And I don’t care if YOU think it is “toxic” way of thinking because it actually isn’t. It is the truth.

          • I don’t see a need to disclose my age to a random internet denizen. I am over the age of 18 if you want to make a point about that.

          • Then you’ve never been around the 5yo I’ve been around lol. All right, gtg back to work. Try to have a good night, really. Idc that you don’t want my pity nor sorrow – that’s fine. I just want you to relax a bit and let off the tension.

          • I don’t think Mimikyu is a Pikaclone in the slightest, it has nothing about it that is a Pikaclone, just the fact it looks like a PIkachu.
Sure, it kept its Japanese name, but other Pokemon sometimes do that too (mostly legendaries, but it does happen)

          • It only uses Pikachu’s image in order to get the love that Pikachu has. Still doesn’t make it a ‘Pikaclone’ because of it

          • the pikachu clone in alola is togedemaru obviously, but hoenn had two so i wouldn’t mind counting mimikyu as a pikachu clone. Marill was supposed to be named Pikablu because it was like a blue pikachu and is water type, other than that there was no “pikachu clone” in johto unless you count pichu but thats its pre-evolution

          • I know, but it has no other characterisitc of a ‘Pikaclone’. No electric typing, no electric pouches, no rodent based origin.
And techinically, I think Pikablu was a fan name at the time, if I remember from certain videos talking about it. It was never confirmed to be a ‘Pika clone’ as well.

          • lol yeah its definitely debatable but let me tell you Percy, i plan to use both of them on my adventure team and maybe make them competitive lol

          • i mean i can see it getting a raichu cloth but at the same time it wants to be loved like pikachu and pikachu has that love cuz its the mascot of pokemon and raichu isn’t treated like pikachu is but yeah. and Togedemaru is adorable too. I’m annoyed it has a 4x ground weakness but oh well not every pokemon is 100% perfect, throw an air ballon on it and maybe. but it still has fire weakness lol

          • I really don’t want it to get a Raichu cloth, I just want it to get an evo where it understands that it doesn’t need to cloth anymore to get love and it becomes its own thing.
Or maybe it does keep the cloth for protection from the sun, but the real mon underneath comes out more and you see it when it attacks or something

          • It just doesn’t like the sun/it gets less powerful, doesn’t mean it can’t come out, as far as I heard. Then again, I might need to look at its info again xD
But. like I said, it can still keep the cloth or ditch the ‘Pikachu’ theme and just get a regular cloth.

          • I interpreted the info as not being able to be out in the sun period like the sun hurts it. But eh. And if it kept the cloth how would they change the design for the evo?

          • I looked back at it, and it said the health fails. So it maybe can attack real quick and get back under it, since the arm in Mimikyu does come out and attack.
I dunno, maybe the cloth is ripped up more or it exposes more of it. When it evolves, maybe the sun doesn’t bother it much anymore.
It’s not perfect, I’m not gonna lie and say it is, and I don’t have the faintest idea what they might do, I’m just saying what I would like to happen. I just see it evolving, and my gut feeling is usually right about stuff like this.

          • lol its just an idea. anyone can say absolutely anything, but nothing that is said is real unless they confirm it. dont think too much about it lol

          • this is what I’m talking about Auragar. Have fun with other people’s ideas because we all know that is all they are, ideas. Don’t think so negatively about what other people say, respect them as you would want to be respected. Its all just fun dont take that away from others but bashing on what they think

          • just go with it, imagine some of these ideas just for fun. and also you’re not stating fact, “it is a stupid idea” is 100% opinion, its ok to voice your opinion but dont be so direct and negative. thats all I’m saying lol

          • It isn’t an opinion though a pokemon that gets hurt by being in the sun suddenly losing the cloak it uses to live essentially when it evolves is completely stupid. It would die. And I see no problem being direct and being negative is also fine if it is necessary.

          • lol no. the fact their is that mimikyu is hurt by the sun, the opinion is calling someone else’s fun idea stupid, you have to distinguish between fact and opinion, speculation and confirmation. but not everything pokemon related needs to be backed up with fact. growlithe couldn’t learn growl early on and its name is GROWLithe, lickitung couldn’t learn lick early on and its name has Lick in it.

          • wow my there their and they’re is really off tonight, i think I’ve made a mistake like 10 times lol

          • once again, fact is something that is true, opinion is someone’s belief of something. Charmander dies when its tail flame burns out but you can use rain dance in a battle with it, but does it get hurt? no it doesnt just get killed after that. and the point of Percy’s idea is for the evolution to have gotten used to the sun, its evolution, think of the definition of evolution.

          • That is a very poor example but ok. But yah sure if because of retarded ass Pokemon logic it is somehow immune to the sun once it evolves (if it evolves which I doubt) then fine whatever that works.

          • how is this a poor example? its almost the exact same situation. a pokemon that can die if exposed to nature. you got your mimikyu is killed by sun the same place charmander is said to be killed by flame going out, its in the like bio of the pokemon or pokedex entry rather? and again you are thinking too much about it. these are ideas, that is all they are Auragar. and i would appreciate it if you could hold back from vulgarity in messages lol

          • I am aware of this information but just because it is raining doesn’t mean the fire would go out necessarily. And eh thinking is all I am good for so eh. And I don’t care what you’d appreciate. I’d appreciate a lot of things I don’t get so whatever.

          • aren’t you one of the people who dislikes when Earthen acts in such a manner? because you seem to be behaving in the exact same way. and I’m sorry, i guess if i took a lit candle out of my house in the pouring rain, it would go out?

          • Earthen acts out because of not having his stupid ass precious ground types and such. He is an idiot. There are times I agree with him however so eh. And there is a high likelihood it would yes but that isn’t important.

          • Don’t call him an idiot. He may act out a lot but that doesnt make him an idiot. He loves pokemon like a lot of people here do, he uses fact in a lot of his ideas like you seem to, and he has a type preference. so what? big deal. and so if charmander can go out in a battle in the rain just in battle, then why can’t mimikyu go out in a battle say against a ninetails which has drought? I am entitled to an opinion and as are you, but you are forcing your own ideas on others, and eliminating the fun of a pokemon-related chat/forum/message system.

          • I shouldn’t call him an idiot even though he kind of is sometimes. And Mimikyu can go out in battle against Ninetails so long as it has the cloak on. That isn’t up for debate.

          • does charmander have a cover for his tail? no it doesnt but my drizzle politoed activating rain will not ohko charmander, so an evolution where mimikyu EVOLVES to be able to stand the sun like what evolution by definition is, isn’t a bad idea. your argument is circling.

          • It could hide the tail under itself. And I have said I agree that it could evolve to stand the sun without the cloak necessarily simply because of stupid ass Pokemon logic this continued conversation is because you didn’t like that I said your Charmander example was bad.

          • the charmander example is basically the same thing. but you know what? lets just end the argument here lol its going no where so ill stick to my ideas with others while trying to not be affected by negativity, so thanks for a useless, pointless, unnecessary argument, which led to you attacking a user completely out of this conversation by calling him an idiot, ill admit i brought him into it because of what I’ve seen on disqus that i dislike a lot, but you’re being hypocritical. personal attacks just make your argument look so much better (sarcasm).

          • It isn’t the same thing at all. But whatever. And eh it is the truth. Truth hurts sometimes. And no I am not being hypocritical you may wanna look at the definition of that word. And I don’t care how you think they make my argument look to be honest. The truth is what the truth is.

          • I mean, it could evolve into something that doesn’t get hurt by the sun anymore.
Like I said, it was just an idea that’s not ‘Raichu cloth’ since i think that idea is just not good. But I don’t dismiss it outright cause it could happen and it’s an idea.
I just see it evolving, but if it doesn’t, it’s not the end of the world.
If it does, great, if not, well whatever, still a cute mon.
Most likely I’d probably say ‘I’m just here’ since I say that with anything.

          • Sure because of Pokemon logic a mon killed by sunlight can indeed magically be unaffected when it evolves without the assistance of a cloak.

          • I mean, Poke logic has happened before.
Plus, maybe it just becomes so strong, not even its biggest weakness before, the sun, can hurt it now.
I feel something like that has happened before.
Like I said, it’s not a big deal. Idagaf what happens.
I’m just here for Pokemon, really.

          • I was agreeing with you that Pokemon logic is stupid and could allow it to happen magically it would be stupid but whatever. And you need to change your acronym. You have an extra a.

          • what if it evolved using a reaper cloth? and becomes sorta a walking cloth but not pikachu related, then it can walk around all it wants just not keep that pikachu theme

          • i freakin said an idea for pokemon based on fire emblem, i said i know its dumb but it was just a fun idea

          • i mean its literally a ghost that wants to be like pikachu. i would love to see them as co mascots lol

    • Idk I just hope it evolves. I hate Pokemon that have the potential to evolve and don’t! Klefki, Qwilfish, Basculin, Dunsparce and Corsola come to mind

      Reply
      • i agree with all but klefki. ill be honest a lot of pokemon that are used really well competitively dont necessarily need to evolve. Dunsparce is really good on its own as well, only having normal type gives it only one weakness and people want it to gain dragon which i can understand from everything i have seen and read. but that gives it ice dragon and fairy weakness and i think still fighting. so yeah, the other three however, they need something. i have loved corsola for a while since like May’s corsola and would love to see something done with it.

  147. Here is a dumb question but i was curious what others would think. in fire emblem i think specifically sacred stones i believe, there is a petrification status condition, when a unit is hit with it they become stone and gain defense +10 but obviously can’t fight back and are likely to be hit with criticals and 100% hit rate. so i was wondering could anyone see just the defense boost concept added to paralysis in pokemon? or is this really stupid?

  148. ok i have another question. could anyone see pokemon gaining stat buffs like a lot did in xy? i for one would love to see a lot of these to get more un used pokemon into the action. i still want masquerain to ditch the flying type…why did it get it? it shouldn’t have been like other bugs water/bug was unique i believe at this time and rock ruins everything for it

    Reply
    • Well technically it’s Bug/Water so secondary typing is usually fair game
Like say Skorupi and Skrelp primarily Poison types but their seconds Bug and Water respectively become Dark and Dragon primary typing extremely never ever changes
      (Only cases Azuril and Flechling)
But given its nature I think it would stay Bug/Water but honestly I wouldn’t mind it turning into a Shrimp

  153. At this point we can’t definitively say whether the pika-clone is Togedemaru or Mimikyu. The main trend for pika-clones is that they symbolize that generations big feature, and because we don’t know what that is yet, we can’t say which is the clone.

    Pikachu – the original
Pichu – introduction of breeding and baby Pokemon
Plusle and Minun – introduction of double battles
Pachirisu – colors match the Nintendo Wifi and GTS logos
Emolga – colors match the Entralink tree
Dedenne – introduction of the Fairy-type

    Reply
      • And also vice versa. I personally hope Togedemaru is the clone and Mimikyu evolves, but I know many people want a viable Steel-type, so I’d be okay with that too.

        Reply
    • Togedemaru is the clone hands down.
      1. When has the clone not been electric?
      2. Mimikyu literally is the ghost, under the cloth. Take the cloth away, and there is no resemblance to pika.

I really just want Mimikyu to evolve. It would really just be wasted potential if it didn’t.

      Reply
      • Yes it is usually refererred as Electric Rodent of xth Generation. It should be electric type with rodent characteristics.

    • You missed out on the biggest trend all Pika-clones have.
Their name is the same in every language.
Togedemaru is this generations Pika-clone, not Mimikyu.

    • This again?
      Mimikyu isn’t a pikaclones that’s stupid
It’s an entirely different Pokemon that has its own unique look and background
You lot just base so much on looks alone and you all should be ashamed, Togdemaru is in fact the Pikaclones of gen 7

Mimikyu is a random ass Pokemon that has markings that crudely resemble a Pikachu but that doesn’t make it a traditional Pikaclone

      Reply
      • I wasn’t making any sort of claims. I was saying quite the opposite- that we can’t make any claims without sufficient information. But I have since conceded that I was not looking at all the facts at the time, such as the name; I now understand that Togedemaru is the true Pika-clone.

        Reply
    • A “pika Clone” has to be electric type, and sometimes another type. Mimikyu is NOT electric type in any way shape or form. So it is NOT one of the “Pika Clones” Togedemaru is the “Pika Clone” It’s probably supposed to represent all the unique new typing’s that have been popping up. 🙂

      Reply
    • Pikaclone is not even a conventional term. You wouldn’t be so confused if you didn’t use vague, made up terminology from the internet. If you’re smart enough to find connections in all of the functions of the electric rodents, you should be smart enough to realize that mimikyu ultimately doesn’t fit in with the rest of them at all and that you’re totally reaching.

      Reply
      • Do not bring my intelligence into this. I was merely bringing up a point and saying that we could not reach a conclusive decision as of yet. However, if you’re smart enough to read the rest of the arguments presented against my original post before delivering your own rehashing of the same claims, you’d know that I already admitted to overlooking that factor and conceding that Togedemaru is in fact the electric rodent. 🙂

It’s human nature to not approve of anything unless proven, but I do believe that the amount of hate and name-calling is unnecessary. When people hide themselves behind electronic screens, they believe they have all the power in the world and abuse that power, but then groan and moan when politicians and world leaders become power hungry, oblivious to the fact that they themselves would be under the same influence if they were put under the same circumstances. Sad, sad world we live in when everything created to promote positivism is sucked dry and only the negative remains.

The Chinese leak didn’t promise the capybara or gorilla Pokemon. They never said anything would be shown off this month I think. It was just info they had.

New forms of them isn’t my favorite idea to change like Growlithe a Water is a little Farfetched to me yet I like Rattata idea

More than Kalos I was hoping that

No Gyms still sounds sketchy unless a gym like feature is available!

Yungoos and Rockruff I could live with A Yungoos like that I like Rockruff differs

Cat and Bird I like and Snowman!

      Ash-Greninja might be to much

Old Characters come back and S.S. Anne is good!

The bracelets have some New move idea so mabey no Synchro

Now, If I say the following, I admit that it will be under the influence of the supposed leaks but what if there’s no evil team. Maybe, a team that has a positive yet different intentions. Maybe we’re part of it, a challange to recruit people or “things”. I like the idea of that.

    • I want something different
In the past games we’ve seen megalomaniac conquerors who wanted to seize the world and change it in their image, Twas fine for a couple of games,
      1 Steal Pokemon
      2 Force Pokemon to evolve
3 shift nature to benefit one populace
      4 creating a new universe
5 False Liberation into freezing the region
6 revival of an ancient weapon for conquest

Something I want to see is a Cultist clan worshipping the Sun and Moon legends and capturing them to perfect a new world order

      • TBH, from all evil teams, I like the Team Plasma most, while Team Rocket coming second. Team Plasma was a very different experience. As a player, they make me question the idea of capturing Pokemon. The whole thing was perfectly integrated into game that nothing seemed cringy, forced or unnatural.

Team Rocket seems natural as well. If Pokemon world did exist, stealing rare Pokemon, selling them and those kind of things would be a problem as well.

But apart from them, all other teams seem forced and exaggerated to me, especially Aqua and Magma.

          Reply
          • I can see some religious/ritualist stuff going on. The setting seem to be based on islands where people are living their lives as tribal society. There was a scene where the battle is made in the name of Tapu Koko and they offer it to him. And also the name guardian “deity” screams it. In the past there were Pokemon with tremendous mythical powers, and even in the Arceus case things didn’t go as ritualist as this.

    • maybe there is just so much stuff in these games that they are keeping all the story elements under their hats and keeping us sedated with new pokemon reveals

    • I feel like the legendaries will be used to turn the world into eternal day/night depending on version. And maybe like BW, you have to get the opposing Pokemon to stop one of them.

I would think the evil team would do this to essentially rule/extort the world or just disrupt the natural order.

I think people set themselves up for disappointment when they expected elements from emerald, a third version game more different from the pair it was improving on than Pokemon crystal, to be manifested in more than winks and nods.

          • I agree with you. They should’ve added elements from Emerald into it. It was pretty much just a copy and paste of the old games with a few added features

Back to BvS, its Ultimate Edition fixes the movie though, you should give that a shot (if you can, for free if someone you know has bought it).

          • I understand… But that doesn’t mean that the main game story premise is a bad idea. I understand that a bad movie could ruin Pokemon, but detective pikachu could very well be that… I mean, the first time we get a live action movie for Pokemon it ends up being a spin off game 🙁

          • Maybe they thought the main story-style stories were already covered by the anime and the anime movies? I’m guessing.

Though a live-action movie would also probably attract the GO-ers to watch. So one based on the main stories is actually a pretty great idea.

  169. Haha. Lol. Evolved my Eevee into a Flareon. It has 666 CP so I called it Cerberus and took a screenshot. Also, the nickname thing doesn’t work 100% of the time. I called this one Rainer and got a Flareon, then changed the nickname.

  170. I really hope Japan gets another video like the one from last week. I love the ones that show gameplay because we get more to analyze and speculate with.

  171. Ok after reviewing all the footage we’ve been given these Pokemon are part of the dex. I know that they may have just been for trailers, but all the Pokemon in XY trailers were in the dex, so if we go off of that, this is the known dex. (Whew that was exhausting.)

  172. They need to get the guy that plays Sherlock in the Sherlock series, um Benedict Cumberbatch, to do the voice of Pikachu. 😀 THAT would make the show more believable as a “Sherlock type” or movie. LOL danny devito would NOT be a good voice choice, for this part. It wouldn’t feel right, especially NOT to me.
